Serpent of the TOXIC Sea
People were leaving, drifting off to go to their homes after a long day and here she was...tidying up the beach with her hood pulled up and over her head so no one could easily see she was a mutant. For some reason, it made people uncomfortable to look at her...which sure...it upset the young serpent, but Hifumi didn't dare to hold that against them! They were used to the usual, normal faces in the crowd and even that Busy Bees program was picky because they didn't want to startle or traumatize children. This meant she was probably scary to some...so she tried her best to respect it, yet at the same time...she wanted to break that stigma by showing everyone she possibly could with kindness. Today....was a difficult day, though, there were a lot more people here and there who didn't have nice things to say about how she looked because of her quirk....
...how she was probably dangerous or something...they weren't wrong. Though...they were trying to drill it into her head that because of what she was born as, it made her bad, a problem. Not like it was her fault...all she could do was her best and try to make it through each moment and keep looking forward. Don't look back at the mean things they'd say, just look forward...avoid thinking about bad stuff. Crouching down, she picked up a can which was stuck to the little plastic rings with a sad smile...how were people so lazy?
This was something she didn't quite grasp...even when the serpent of the toxic sea managed to rationalize it, all it boiled down to was selfishness and a lack of empathy.
TNNNNK!
A glass bottle cracked on the back of her head and she let out a soft yelp from the impact. "STOP FREELOADING AND GET A JOB, DUMB HOMELESS BASTARD!" "O-owww...h-hey!" Shuffling in a lil' squat, she turned herself around with a slight pout, keeping her head low while loosely gesturing toward the nearest bin, staying polite and upbeat, "U-um..the trashcan's more that'a way...and I'm not homeless, I get how you can make that mistake, though! A-aaaaand they're gone...." Furrowing her brows with a frown as she plopped her butt down upon the sand with a sigh, she carefully plucked up all the glass she could, shuffling it into her little trash bucket.
Pulling out her phone, she looked toward her phone and for a fleeting moment...she considered actually telling someone how she was feeling...something outside of the usual positive and sugar coated takes on negativity. To melt the coating away and let someone know she needed a friend, that she felt like she might be breaking from the inside, how the glass bottle of her hopes and dreams needed glue to piece it back together....how it would be nice to have some company. Someone who didn't mind listening...anyone who didn't think poorly of her.
Nice lady kaiju was a hard worker and it got busy at the bakery around now...
Selena, the nice blonde girl...uh...no she probably had stuff to do...
Pawmight had to be there for people who might need rescuing...
Fio-san would get in trouble and probably had studies....
Red? wait a second...noodle cats didn't have phones...
Hinata-senpai might not even be real...
Hifune-san, oh work, right....
Nimue-san m--no....
Putting her phone away, she hugged onto the trash bucket, curling around it as her mind flooded about with how everyone she could think of in that moment had better things to do. They couldn't be expected to drop everything to be there for her, more importantly...she didn't want to make any of them unhappy or sad. All of them, each and every single one of them only deserved wonderful things that made them smile. It was better to be seen as the delightful little court jester who danced through life without thinking, an empty head without thoughts, but a heart full of love to give the world around her. Closing her eyes, she tried to focus on things that normally pitter pattered away the bad to bring back the good.
Which...
....wasn't too much.
...what if she went on her own patrol?
Would it be possible for her to help someone and turn things around for them?
It wouldn't hurt to try, would it? The worst that could happen is someone beats her up to a pulp until she couldn't move, nothing new there. What didn't kill her would make her stronger is what she figured and the vigilante teen slowly got up to her feet and found her smile again as she rushed toward the trash bin with her bucket in hand. YEAH! Saving people normally worked out really well and it was one of the times that people were happy to have her around so why not?! Besides, she had to do her best to pick up the slack since Nimue-san confirmed some time ago that pro heroes have sooooo many hoops to jump through and she hadn't any of those!
No sir-ee! Serpentina was an independent agent of JUSTICE, the kind that didn't worry about formalities outside of trying to talk things out until that option was completely exhausted! That's right, a heroic sort who used her words before busting knee caps to see if a fight was avoidable! The kids back in the orphanage showed her that anger left to stew without anyone willing to understand brought the worst in people. She wanted to be that difference, Hifumi wanted to be their light in a dim tunnel where there was someone willing to be rational and compassionate, an eagerness to forgive and figure out how to make things right!
....AND IF THEY DIDN'T WANT TO?!
WELL...that's when she'd go after their kneecaps, take their money and put it toward a better cause of some kind since that made sense in her noggin! If mean people don't want to do nice things for others, take their money and do some good with it seemed like a solid way to go! First to check in with her makeshift family, then...TO DO GOOD THINGS FOR OTHERS, VIGILANTE STYLE! Kabukicho could always use more friendly faces and optimism!
