The Weight of my pride do i really need that? The U.A. Sports Club had always been among the most diligent of U.A.'s groups. Always making time for training when they could, rain or shine, and even adapting the sport they played to the weather. Though, perhaps the biggest factor that made them such a hard-working and sportsmanlike bunch was the club's leadership. It was only natural, really, given the two who'd been most involved in the club's inception.
Kirk Bluster, U.A.'s foremost sportsman who would be quite proud to hold the title of it's biggest 'bro'. And, the student who often served as his right hand in matters relating to the club, Tetsuko Shindou, the Steelheart herself. Though she had no official leadership role or anything like that, she'd always been invested in the club, partially due to the fact that she'd encouraged Kirk to make it in the first place. Helping find new members or even just advising Kirk were often on her agenda, though sometimes Tetsuko helped out in simpler ways. Such as helping to clean up after a successful training session.
It was one such afternoon, with everyone else having cleared out and returning home or to their dorms, leaving just Kirk and Tetsuko, the diligent leadership of the club, to clean up the field. They'd been doing soccer, utilizing a number of balls and markers to do various bits of practice. Although some had helped, there was still a bit lying around, and the two had insisted they'd clean it up.
"Y'know, when we're graduated, I don't think I'll miss this part of club training..." Tetsuko joked aloud as she walked along the soccer field, picking up and collecting some of the markers they'd used for training. Words intended for her friend and clubmate, who would only be a short distance away. Now that they were here, actually, it did seem like a good chance to get to talking... And there was quite a bit to talk about, after all. Thanks in part to everything that had been going on these past few months, and in even greater part to the uncertain future that was rapidly approaching them, growing nearer by the day.
"Say, Kirk, what were your plans for the club once we've graduated? I mean, was there anyone you were thinking of handing down Club President too, or anything like that?" The Shindou girl inquired. This club was, after all, something that Kirk had brought to the skill with his own will, so she was curious to see what he intended to do with it. Plus, it was a lighter topic before talking about any recent events, which had been anything but lighthearted.

For Kirk, if there ever was some place where he felt like he could be himself, it had always been the sports club. Probably not that surprising, since he was the one who had built it from the ground up. Since the beginning, it had been there as a way for people to train their bodies in more fun ways than just combat or physical exercise courses, always providing the tools for those who just wanted to have some fun. And of course, perhaps in a little bit more selfish fashion, it provided himself a good way to learn some new techniques for combat. Something that he should have probably done at Darrens club, back when that was still a thing. Kirk couldn't help but chuckle at the silliness of it all.
Honestly, the place had always kind of stayed the same, thanks to the endorser of the club being the school principal. Who could have known, that the guy would thirst for sports enough, that he would make a full on Soccerfield just for the club to use? (although to Kirks memory, it was quite often used by school faculty too.) And with Kirks spirit mixed in, there was not really any spookiness involving 'learning curves' or anything like that. He always tried to keep every match fair to his best capabilities, without folks needing to worry about extra baggage coming from someone being higher in class or something else.
...And of course, they didn't really need to worry about the cleaning either. Dutifully Kirk was always there to clean the place. Not alone mind you! There was Tetsuko! One of his first bros in the country, the one with the idea to start the club in the first place! Naturally, she had taken one of the top positions in the club with ease. A big honor, but in most cases, it meant that she would do the dirty work with him afterwards. "Hey, better us who RESPECT the tools of the sport to handle them, right?!" He playfully kicked the football towards her for her to catch it, the mud on it flying across the air. "No need to worry about needing to send some papers to principal for replacements, you know!" Kirks own new shoes already costed a pretty penny. Needing to replace this stuff weekly would have costed way more.
As he chucked balls off the ground into his pouch for quick carrying, wiping sweat from his brow, Tetsuko brought up a pretty valid question. "I dunno, really! Honestly, I've been thinking about couple of options! Got three in my mind!" He flipped three fingers up towards her, as he bent one. "First ones Yasashi! You know, BIG, BULKY, Overall visually striking as a man of muscle! Very attention catching build!" He flexed a little, emphasizing the joke. "That, and those skeletons of his would always make sure there is a team to play against!" He lowered another finger. "Then there is Karen. She is just one of those dutiful types, who would most definitely keep the club standing after we are gone. Though I do worry that she is perhaps a bit too competitive against some new folks. Don't wanna scare em away." Kind of a similar problem with Yasashi come to think of it. On a different scale but still.
"And then there is the long term solution! This kid called CID! Very sporty, very cool! Has a lot of guts and pride to do this sort of thing... Though he is a first year, so, who knows if he sticks around." The now fisted hand sank into his hairdo, giving it almost a root level dig. He gave off a little sigh. "Honestly, I feel like having a big ol final recruitment drive before I leave but... Do you think that would be silly? Introducing myself as the big ol leader, and then leaving somebody under the bus to handle what comes after just doesn't feel like me, hehe." Naturally, whoever they would choose as the actual leader they would discuss it with first. He picked up a bat off of the ground and twirled it. "I guess I just have the requirement, that the guy or gal should definitely be social, and not afraid of trying new sports! Don't want anybody just coming here for extra freetime to sit around."

Tetsuko was actually a bit surprised to hear that Kirk already had a few choices in mind, though she wasn't entirely sure why. As she thought about it, it was pretty natural for the Sports Club's president to have a few ideas in mind for who would be running the thing after he was gone, but perhaps she'd overestimated his more headstrong nature and just thought he wouldn't have focused on it quite enough until now.
The Shindou girl listened closely to his suggestions, intending from the start to offer her own thoughts. "Yasashi-kun, hmmm? You're right that he fits the profile on the surface level, but I'm not sure he has the leadership skills to take control of the club. He's... I don't know really, he just doesn't seem to quite have himself held together well-enough for something like that. He's loud enough for the job, but I don't think he has the right level of confidence and coolheadedness for it, personally." Tetsuko explained. He was a dutiful and enthusiastic lad, but he was even more of a dense blockhead than Kirk sometimes. The swordswoman did raise a curious brow at Kirk's second suggestion, however, which did sound a bit more plausible to her.
"Karen-chan's a pretty good pick. A natural leader, at least. Her competitiveness isn't too off-putting, I don't think, but I do see what you mean there." There wasn't too much to say about Karen, really. The girl was simply a solid, uncontroversial leader, most of the time. Competitive, but friendly enough. The last pick of Kirk's was someone that Tetsuko had yet to hear of, however, looking pretty interested in this 'Cid' that Kirk was mentioning.
"Can't say I'm familiar with him, but for you to offer a first-year for the position, you must be pretty confident in him.." It was a bit of a wild card decision, really, so Tetsuko was sure Kirk had good reason for it. Or, at least, she hoped he did. After that, the boy mentioned wanting to do a recruitment drive, even asking if it would be silly. Tetsuko shrugged her shoulders at the question. "I don't think there's any contradiction. I was thinking of recruiting for the DC before I left myself." Was all she really had to say.
When he was done speaking, Tetsuko pondered for a few moments, hand to her chin. "Well, whatever the case, the first step is to see who's up to the task. I think Karen-chan and this 'Cid' are solid picks, but it's also a matter of how you want to do it. If you want to just make them leader yourself, or have current members vote..." Tetsuko huffed in amusement. "Basically, you've still got plenty of work to do before we graduate. Well, I guess we both do, I've got the DC to hand over, after all..."

Of course, Kirk listened intently, as Tetsuko started to think about his offered candidates. A bros opinion was the most important one. He scratched his head a little at first towards her comments about Yasashi. "I guess that makes sense. Come to think of it, he isn't exactly the rallying sort of guy..." Heck, even his skeletons seemed to be more in the lines of 'unconscious command' instead of telling them what to do outloud. For his other two options, Kirk seemed surprisingly content about hearing that she agreed on Karen, and was clearly interested in Cid. "Well, you know me. I have an eye for this sort of thing." However, he crossed his arms and tilted his head to the side a bit. "Although, I do worry that plopping a weight like this unprepared on him would be the sort of move, that might spook him from the club proper. Karen on the other hand was very intent on it so... Guess we'll see!" Atleast lowering his options from three to two, was a bit helpful.
Her idea on having a recruitment drive for her own club admittedly had him raise his eyebrow. "Hmmm... Admittedly, it would make sense to hold these things together, you know? Something like uh... Big ol club drive! Get folks really into those clubs before the school years end! At least that would guarantee folks sticking around." That, and he knew other clubs were still going too. Rowan in the cheerleading club, the cooking club... the biggest thing was probably robotics club! Although Kirk didn't know about whatever the heck they made in there. "With Darren gone, I have also been curious about the martial arts club. Have you been there?"
In the end, the choice was indeed on him. He didn't really like the idea of just giving the job to somebody, and voting didn't exactly have the whole vibe of bringing new people in. Heck, one thing in particular that Tetsuko said, had him groaning a bit. "Man, I just don't like this big ol' timer on my head." He turned to look at Tetsuko in the eye. "You know what I mean right? Moving to the dorms didn't exactly help the fact that I like it here. Got pretty much all I need, from sports tools to good food, and weekly guarantee of improvement. And heck, plenty of bros to enjoy all of those things with!" He shrugged. "Not like I am lazy or something, I would find stuff to do even after graduation. just really feels like a big change."
He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Heck, doesn't help that when you are so close to done, you start to nitpick about things you are doing." He sighed a little, as he proceeded to flip his fingers up this time. "Like lately I've noticed that folks have been thinking I am some sort of careless dude, who just breaks things. Like those bridges at the sports festival! The announcer decided to literally push me under the bus cause of my fighting and tackling." He lifted a second finger. "Or that time with that teacher we fought! The guy literally had an insult or quote up his sleeve for everything I did!" Admittedly, if any of those had been one hundred percent true, he would probably be roasting in that pit, with a bunch of burnt hair smell in the air...
He facepalmed his eyes. "Eugh, sorry! Shouldn't speak ill of the dead. Just, feels like a repetitive thing lately. And I don't think anybody wants to hear those so close to graduation!" Heck, especially rude with him being Elises mentor and what not. And it's not like Kirk himself disliked him... bad circumstances.
