Hotaru is a gentle soul who, despite coddling her son a bit in his earlier years, is still a strong woman all the same. Though don't be fooled by her kind and nurturing nature, she is also protective as a mama bear! Oh boy, especially of her family, after the tragic incident with her husband, never again will she allow herself to fold and be powerless. Just because she doesn't have a quirk, doesn't mean that she'll be useless and weak in the eyes of those she sees as a threat, namely those who may hinder her son's future. She wants nothing but the best for Fion and will make sure his grades are in order and get on his and the teacher's case to make sure he can be successful!
If Fion does something bad? You can bet she'll be on the case of getting his crap in order so that he doesn't shoot himself in the foot! The kid wanted to be a NEET, but that's not a fitting future for the otaku child and he can be so much more if he puts forth the effort. Sometimes, they'd even have a battle of wits in a way of keeping him on his toes.
