Well this was it... Antonio had supposedly made the exchange of information with Ishtar for the prize money and told them where Mia would be. She'd booked a few vacation days, gotten freya and some others to cover her patrol routes for a long weekend, and headed out to her plot of land on the far outskirts of tokyo. One of the few places that was just a thick patch of greenery and trees in this rapidly paved over world... and with her half made little cabin slap dab in the middle of it. The place was coming together... a last little extension off the side, a bit of garden work. All of it practical, nothing too fancy...
She dragged a rocking chair her and her dad made together, placed it firmly in the garden space out front, kicked back and just... waited. She had her casual clothes on, some worn jeans, a loose white shirt, a flannel over shirt blowing a little with the breeze. The rocking chair was big enough to hold her, leaning back into it as it rocked back and forward, back and forth...
She had some time to wait, but sharply enough a car pulled up to her cabin. She didn't have a watch on her and she'd left her phone back in the cabin. She'd have to guess they were right on time from the feel of it.
An armored transport vehicle drove through the grass, Mia clicking her tongue in frustration at it tearing up the mud as she pushed up from her chair. This was it. The moment of truth. Either they were here to kill her and she was far enough from the city she'd never have to hold back... or they were far enough no one would ever know she came willingly. She cracked her neck either way, her body tensing, clearly enough she was ready to fight if need be. "I assume you boys are here for me?"
One of the armed guards with the transport nodded, pushing forward. He stowed his main firearm and held out a heavyset pair of cuffs. She quirked her brow and remained stood with her arms firmly crossed, staring him down as he clearly was gonna go through with having the audacity to willingly put those on.
“Ishtar wants to muzzle me for the trip huh?”
The trooper remained silent for a moment, glancing back to his teammates for the journey and looking back to her as the cuffs popped open with enough room for Mia to place even her bulky forearms within. “No she… she requested we ask you come willingly. This is just for the crews sake… none of them would take the job unless I promised to cuff you first.”
Mia glanced from him to the punks behind him hovering near the transport vehicle, scoffing and rolling her eyes… somehow she believed that. Ishtar always seemed overconfident. With a roll back of her shoulders she lifted her arms to be cuffed, feeling a hefty weight from the device, clearly heavily reinforced with more than just simple metal holding it together. She briefly pulled her arms apart, getting a sense for how strong it was, but stopped before it would begin to strain, nodding to the lead guard. “’Aight… lead the way.”
The journey was far from comfortable. She could tell from the bump roads they didn’t head back towards the city but instead stuck to the bumpier outskirts roads. Not much info beyond that… she had training to try and get her barings in situations like these but she doubted any of them ever intended for it to be this extreme a situation. Before too long the back doors of the armored vehicle creaked open, the lack of sunlight telling her they’d parked inside to make sure she definitely had no idea where they were before letting her out. Playing nice, she let the lead guard take her to the supposed meeting place. Looked like a tough room. Steel lining the walls, no need to paint it up or cover it to look fancy. It was clear enough even she’d have to take some time tearing her way out of a room like this. Still… she shifted her shoulders to get comfortable, the guard fumbling for the key to her cuffs.
“So. I assume I can take her word that I ain’t about to get gassed and locked up?” She smirked faintly to herself when he wouldn’t see, amused by the idea… she had a rough guess even if that was the plan she could probably breathe anything thrown at her long enough to ram a hole through these walls.
“Of course, Ishtar’s a professional. Now here lemme-“
Before he could turn to her with the key, Mia grit her teeth, lifting her arms up infront of her. Her arms bulked out to the point even her loose sleeves seemed tight for a moment. About her wrists her skin became leathery and red, recognizeable as the state she’d entered during the red rage incident. Where the shattering edges of the cuffs may have penetrated her normal skin, they scraped off the red hide like it was nothing. The cuffs sparked as she broke the circuitry within, showing ti was more than just metal holding these titanic cuffs together, and with a final grunt the piece was shattered in two, the loose chunks of it still clinging to each of her wrists, the red slowly receeding, but Mia’s harsh glare holding on the guard as he slowly backed out of the room.
“…n-nevermind… y-you got it….”
The sound of the bulk doors slamming shut behind her was the only thing beyond her own breathing to break the silence. She took a few steps towards the chairs and table in the middle of the empty room, taking a seat and once again just… waiting. Waiting for this bitch of a villain to show her cowardly face...

The facility Red Horn had been brought to was one of dozens of laboratories and warehouses scattered throughout the mountains and hill country of Japan. Nearly a hundred facilities, some official, some not, that existed for various purposes. What Red Horn could never know was that this particular building had stored the support hardware to supply many of the villains and criminals she'd dealt with over the past year. This was where all that violence had come from. A sort of... pre-shipment distribution center. It had been refitted into what was essentially a bunker-turned-restaraunt. The single table in the center of the room was framed by two chairs; the walls were painted and as Mia entered, the lights turned up a little giving it a comfortable glow.
It wasn't hard to spot the various spots where defensive systems could pop out of the walls or gas could fill the room. The vents near the bottom of the room were a big clue as well. It was on the other side of the room from the entrance that sealed shut with a large slab of steel that a staircase had been installed leading up to another door. The moment Mia took her seat she would hear the door open and shut across the room, the lack of lighting on that side of the room would make it difficult to see who was descending the steps.
Ishtar, on the other hand, could see everything. She'd lived in twilight all her life. She did not see darkness, ever, nor did she the pure light of day. Her world was tinted the same off-color tone that muted life and sucked a little bit of joy from it. She could see Red Horn at the table and smiled, remembering how it felt to touch her skin. She was... different from other women she'd had before. Strong. Fierce. She took control in a way that Ishtar had only experienced once before. She pursed her lips and quirked a little smile before descending the steps, her voice came through her respirator in a modulated rasp, a low hiss punctuated every time she took a breath.
"I see my subordinates did not listen when I asked them to escort you with dignity, lover," She said softly, each step accompanied by the click of her heels. Her white villain outfit, black straps and all, became more and more visible as she stepped down. Her skin began to take on its usual unearthly glow, a halo of pale light that bloomed from her skin and made her appear as a goddess would. She opened her eyes when she reached the steps; light crackling around her, her eyes beginning to glow that vibrant pink, her hair fluttering behind her-caught in an unseen wind created by the cold of her quirk.
"It's good to see you again, Mia," She said, her eyes crinkling with sweetness, "I missed you," She said, reaching up and taking the mask off her face, revealing her visage. The woman who threw every ounce of her strength behind giving heroes more power, behind creating a society where heroes could prosper, the woman who stood at the forefront of quirker rights. The stainless Sonya Chernova smiled without a care in the world, delight and joy on her face.

"...Oh aren't you pretentious."
Mia remained sat with crossed arms as she watched the woman appear with that glowing light to her skin from a raised platform at the end of a staircase at the edge of the room. She knew she herself could sometimes have her own weird flair for the dramatic but... god damn she really did like looking down her nose at people. Literally. She was coming down into the room with a fucking staircase. She shook her head in disbelief and leaned back deeper into her chair, about to balance it on two legs when some of the woman's choice words caught her attention.
"Pretty sure no villain's earned the right to call me lo-" She paused as she started to catch it. There'd always been something she couldn't quite catch about Ishtar, a familiarity in the back of her mind she couldn't quite place. She shifted out of her seat to stand as she reached the last few steps, ripping the last chunks of metal around her wrist off and tossing them aside with heavy thunks as they hit against the floor and breathing deeply as she just watched Ishtar, getting the sense she was about to get what she needed out of this all.
The mask came off and Mia felt... stunned. Not stunned. Surprised yet not. It blended together so easily and yet it was INFURIATING that it did. She breathed heavily through a moment through grit teeth but then she just...
She just wanted to laugh...!
It came out slow, hearty but low toned chuckles as she rested over the table still between them, but it became more... manic, a little more frantic as the chuckles turned into giggles with a defeated sense to them, slowly leaning over the table and running her hands back through her wild blonde mane. "Oh god... god he... fucking hell that stupid kid was right... hahahahhaha! Oh fuck how does no one see this-!" She slapped a hand across the outside of her thigh just to punctuate her disbelief as she threw her arms up into the air. "How didn't I see this!?"
She was in complete disbelief even as her chuckles calmed down, biting the inside of her cheek to force herself to stop smiling at the stupid situation before her... but here Sonya was, offering the chance to just take in her face, to see her, to break the facade entirely. She let out a deep, hefty breath, cracking her neck to the side as she relieved some tension and took this more seriously, realizing where she was and what she now knew.
"... so what now? I know who you are. Nice balls to pull that move off by the way... but you ain't about to let me out of here to tell everyone so... what? What the fucks next. Am I gonna die in here before the end of the day? Just gonna keep me in a cage? Am I gonna walk out and be met with some memory erasing quirker?"
She sat back down, gesturing to her before crossing her arms again tight. "Come oooon... least make my fate something original. Lemme see if that mind's as delicious as that body..." She had to make a joke... she knew very well she might just get killed here now that she knew what she did.

Ishtar shifted once on her hip, resting her knuckles against her chin and using her other arm to rest her elbow. She tilted her head; watching Mia's amusing reaction. The laughter at first was downright hearty but then the defeated sound came to them. There was a hurt in them, a sound that Ishtar knew all too well. Betrayal. Confusion. Doubt. Finally though she stopped, regaining control of herself and popped her neck to work out tension. Ishtar never blinked. She'd put on a show for Mia when they first met, simulating the need to blink and have natural facial expressions. But now she was standing in front of Ishtar herself.
Ishtar's eyelids never shifted, not once. Instead, her glowing eyes whirred and spun in her head, ticking quietly with each minute adjustment to the world around them. Even her eyes were a war crime, thirty two lenses packed inside for superhuman level sight. Far more advanced than the maximum of eighteen set by the geneva convention. She crossed her arms behind her back and tilted her body to the right, smile widening a little as she offered her most glowing, precious, almost cute smile to the ex-number one hero. "I'm not going to hurt you silly! I made that very clear in my list. I just want to talk, I haven't hurt a single person on that list," She said, putting her hand to her chest as if she was a bit offended.
"Heavens! I even treated that girl's addiction when she asked," She said dramatically, turning away and throwing her hands up in the air before looking over her shoulder and smirking. "Do you still have that scar that I left on you?" She whispered.
That black line she'd traced into the indestructable red-horn's skin. She looked at her fingers, white light dancing around them. "My quirk is radioactive cell death, I annihilate organic tissue through a rapid-flash freezing process," She said absently, hard light forming tiny needles that twirled around her fingers. "Once a cell dies that way, it's hard to regenerate, isn't it?" She smiled a twisted smile and turned back to face Mia, taking slow steps forward, her eyes locked with Mias, her hair fluttering about behind her.
"You're going to walk out of here tonight, but who is going to believe you even if you talk, Mia Kearney?" She asked, looking up, getting closer. "Who is going to take your word? Look what I've built! Look what I've made! Look what I've done for society!" She took a step back and gestured almost dismissively at Mia. "And look what you've done in the meantime. Did you know I have crews actively cleaning up your mess in Tokyo?" She burst out laughing. "I'm cleaning up after you! I'm providing the relief efforts to the damage you've caused!" She dropped her hands, her eyes even.
"No one will believe you. No one will care. You are ruined, Mia. You can't even look the greatest threat Japan has ever faced in the eye and know for certain that you'll be able to stop it. Your students clamor to accept gifts from me. Your peers are on my payroll. Hero society is stillborn," She said coldly, "You died before you could even walk." She smiled.
That was only the beginning of course, there was so much more to what Ishtar had planned. So much more to what she was going to do. Crippling Red Horn was a good start. But Ishtar would never stop until she'd infected Hero Society to it's core.
"Now. Sit down. Let's have dinner."

"Uh huuuuh..." She returned, gazing at those unblinking eyes. They were unnatural but not unnerving. If anything they just consistantly reminded Mia to be on her guard, assuring her of her place between the two of them now. This wasn't some simple woman to her now, some catch she brought back to her bed one night... this was a creature. A villain. There was a person beneath the surface but it was behind those eyes... thirty two lenses deep, and that was a fuck load to try and see through when you maybe didn't want to. "Thats why you had us meet in a death chamber." She returned firmly, shifting in her seat, still tense but loosening, if only because she was absorbing the situation. "And excuse me if I don't believe your intentions all of a sudden... I mean come on Sonya. You wouldn't have made that list if you didn't want people hurt. You may have... whatever the fuck your calling your intentions. Holy, benevolent, whatever... but you basically gave the world a bounty list and a fucktonne of criminals ain't as 'delicate' as you..."
Girl's addiction...? She'd keep an eye on that. She didn't know who Ishtar had talked to, who they were referring to... but she'd keep an eye on things going forward after hearing that. She scoffed at the mention of a scar, listening to why she was curious... Mia thought for a moment, but smiled as she recalled, tilting her head back smugly. "I did for a while...not anymore." In truth, her body had been cleansed of a lot of scars as she took on her Red Rage state, the mutation of her skin making it 'born anew' in a lot of ways. The key scar on her horn never healed even when her horn fully reformed it's casing, a curious matter, but not one she'd thought to dwell on too much. "Sorry babe but it seems you might not be as deadly as you think.." She held a smug pride now in losing that scar. She even remembered once being disappointed by finding it missing, now she only wore a smile. Even if RedHorn could be marked, it seemed her RedRage may be enough to take Ishtar on one day...
Still in her seat as Sonya moved over her, she looked up to meet her eyes, narrowing her gaze, lightly gritting her teeth as she took the verbal assault of her grand plan in revealing her face... Mia didn't fully believe her. She didn't like just being 'popular' but even with the red rage incident she still had friends, strong friends, and a lot of people who'd believe her word even in the darkest hours... perhaps no one 'official', but there'd be enough for her to hold strong to the verbal assault. She may have commented on how she was also cleaning up her past mistakes, but felt that would only give Sonya more confidence, more fuel...
Mia pushed out of her seat, slowly. It was intentional, just letting the shorter Sonya get a true sense of her size as she rose like a forming mountain infront of her, her harsh red gaze meeting the bright pink of her much more intelligent, much more refined foe. The furniture creaked as she left it, but after a moment even her breaths didn't seem to make a sound, just staring intensely for a moment.
"... The only reason you aren't tasting the other side of the floor right now is cause of this room... but you know that. It's why we met here. You can hold all the cards you want but at the end of the day. You, and me in a room? I'm just gonna take satisfaction in knowing just how much you gotta stack that deck."
Mia eased back down as easily as she stood, hooking her legs up onto the table, one ankle over the other, leaning back with a relaxed smile... they both had their cards here. Sonya was the greater mind, Mia was the greater... force. She knew she couldn't take down Sonya, and Mia felt confident that if it came to it Sonya wasn't ready to take her down yet. Not without consequences she wasn't prepared to swallow. She still felt it, that pain in her gut that told her she couldn't win... but Mia was never someone who gave up so readily either.
"So. What's for dinner, hot stuff...?~" She was here now... may as well get what little sick satisfaction she could out of this.

Ishtar laughed and waved a hand, "Death chamber? Hardly," She looked Mia in the eye; "You and I both know I'm far more deadly than any toys in here, this is a formality," She said gently, sitting down and crossing her legs. Red Horn didn't hold back, that was good. Sonya nodded, this was true, the criminals interested in taking her up on the list might not be as gentle. But that was the point in its own way. She tilted her head, unmoved by the statement. A smugness hung in the air for a few heartbeats; "And if the criminals are not, as you say, delicate, they will quirkly learn how seriously I take my word," She said, almost sweetly. A smile spreading across her features.
The scar comment was a surprise, but a good one, "Good! You're tougher than I thought, I'm relieved, I wouldn't have spent so much on you, if you couldn't heal from a microdose of my quirk," She said, though she wondered exactly how Red Horn has managed to turn up their regeneration to that point. Her quirk inhibited regeneration, the radiation killed telomeres. She kept her face still while she wrapped her head around the implications. Could the muscle expansion that Mia undergoes in her raged state be similar to a canceric growth? She would have to find out. Reinforcing telomeres like that was dangerous.
She laughed, "Believe what you want," She said, and then her eyes narrowed as Mia got out of her seat, her lips going thin but holding that smile. She held her ground, even as her heart pounded in her chest. Sonya was strong, powerful, her quirk could decimate flesh. But... her body was very fragile. She resisted the urge to roll her jaw and felt a single drop of sweat go down between her shoulderblades. Fortunately, she didn't blink. She gave a curt smile when Mia pointed out how she had to stack the deck.
"You do just that, Mia Kearney," Sonya said smoothly, easing back into her seat.
So this was how it was, fine, she liked it like this. Sonya nodded at Mia and raised both hands, clapping them once. From the shadowy steps a woman strode into the room, red hair and a mask over her features. She bowed to both of them, her hand over her heart. She said nothing but instead moved between the two of them and lowered her head; "Two Pound Steak, Optima Wagyu, for both of the ladies. Side of craft vegetables. Dom Pérignon as your beverage," She stepped back two paces and a cart was wheeled in, a man with suit and mask leaned in and took out two covered trays, putting down the nauseatingly expensive slabs of meat in front of the two of them. Champagne was poured and the sides were placed. The two individuals left in a quiet hurry, not wanting to stay too long.
Sonya eyed her meal and looked up at Mia.
"Dinner, and a wish, since you're here," She said, quirking her lip; "Is there something you'd like to ask me for? Everyone gets one, even you," She offered casually, cutting into her meat and bringing a piece to her lips.
"As long as it's within my power to give. Fuchu was nothing but a wish granted, after all," She said easily, popping the meat into her mouth and savoring it with a quiet gasp of delight. | TAG WORDS NOTES

"Do we know that?" Mia responded with crossed arms. There were rumors flowing around about her being related to a specific string of murders but she wouldn't call her one of the more... deadly criminals, from what little she knew about her. Not as physically imposing as Thunder or as mentally deranged as Niso or the Painter... whatever earned her this confidence wasn't something Mia had intimate knowledge of, but she was willing to hear the clear threats from the horses mouth... well, best not to push her look. Even if Ishtar was bluffing about her own power, she was sure the woman was smart enough to have contingencies.
She didn't buy for a second that Ishtar was 'happy' about the missing scar, but it was interesting to see her keep up the act so well. It was like watching a puppet show. A very good one perhaps... but always an obvious enough lie that you knew there was something wrong about it all, no matter how much you tried to let yourself believe it all. "What can I say... someone like me? Tougher than I look? Must mean I'm invulnerable huh?~"
The show continued all the same, brave enough to believe that she could hold strong in the face of Mia... but she had to admit, the woman did better than most. Even people strong enough to go toe to toe with her... she'd seen them flinch when she'd played it serious with them. Ishtar was impressive in her own right. She wasn't intimidating to Mia... but she was impressive.
With their seats taken and the serving staff coming in, Mia could have joked that it wasn't much of a meal for her but that was just being unnescarily rude at that point. It was a step that even in this environment wasn't worth taking. She waited for the food to be served but... well, she did take one rude step, reaching across to the champaign bottle and taking that in place of the glass, tipping it up from the back end and suckling straight from the tip for a few hefty glugs before laying it back down, tearing off a chunk of the steak with her hands and tossing it in her gullet, glaring along the table dividing them.
"So this is the game huh? You really do just wanna... talk? What for? To give the heroes, the students, a soft spot for you? Weird play I gotta say..." She thought for a moment and tapped the table. "Ya know what... I ain't about to ask for a wish that secretly indebts me to you. So you want a wish? Want me to play the game. Here's an easy one. So long as we share a space, alone, you can't lie to me. That's my wish." She flicked her wrist off to the side with a flippant gesture. "You don't wanna tell me something? Remain silent... but that's my wish. Whenever you and I are alone in a room... you don't tell a lie. Deal?"

[attr="class","itsover1"] Ishtar had to keep her cool. She needed to keep her cool. She was many things. She could kill so easily it was pathetic. But what she did not have was the defenses to stand up to a full assault by Red Horn. This was a risk and she knew it. Every time this woman got agitated it was like swallowing a bucket of ice water. Ishtar took a steadying breath while raising her glass to her lips; sipping once and looking over the rim. A calculated move to steady herself while appearing to not be intimidated. It was the best she could do. She looked down at the meat set for them. She looked up with Red Horn went to town, dining like a barbarian.
She smiled.
"You don't change, do you," She murmured, her eyes almost sparkling. She'd... liked Mia. She was the first woman who she'd spent a night with that made her want to feel small. But that was another time, almost another life. She let out a breath and cut into her steak, taking a bite out of it while Mia ruminated over her wish. There were no debts involved in the first wish, it was the second one that was most dangerous. Sonya knew that, but Mia was so focused on-
Sonya froze.
The wish was... not unreasonable. It did allow enough room for her to not incriminate herself near some sort of recording device but it also ... she frowned, actually frowned. Her eyes glowing and spinning, clicking, twisting, rotating. Her brain, her genius-level intellect, ran rampant looking at every angle of Mia's strategy. What was she thinking? What was she doing? What angle was she shooting for? No, it wasn't something more complicated than a blanket desire for the truth. She tilted her head and considered her options, how could she control this? Take control back. She didn't even notice that her glass of champagne had frozen solid between her fingers.
She paused and let out a breath, lowering her shoulders and her glass. The wheels stopped turning behind her eyes as something clicked into place. She looked at Mia and then offered her best smile.
"Granted, what do you want to know?"

"Don't ever plan on it." She responded to the 'don't change' comment, licking some of the steak juice from her fingers before tearing off another chunk and hucking it into her gullet. Her tusks had grown a little more prominently since when she'd first entered the room, acting like goal posts for each hunk of meat she lobbed into her own mouth. Her tusks, much like her muscles and her horn, grew as she got agitated. When she was calm they were barely noticeable, if anything they were just prominent canines.
They did shrink a little however when Sonya froze...~
Her glass seemed to freeze over as much as her body as she lingered on the wish, and where Sonya briefly had all the power between them Mia suddenly felt a lot more control. She'd made sure to be reasonable, to make sure Sonya couldn't weasel her way out of it by saying it was too much... but it seemed for Sonya lies were her bread and butter if she was reacting this much. She'd never have to tell the truth if a third party was present, she'd never have to tell the truth about something she didn't want to. She could just remain silent... and yet still she reacted so harshly.
It was about as satisfying as punching that smile right off her face.~
"Well... I think I learned a lot just from that glass.~" She tipped her head to the frozen champagne glass and leaned back again with a confident smirk as she took another chunk of meat from her plate. Time to get serious she supposed. "But lets get serious. Meal to enjoy or not we're effectively meeting for business in your eyes. These wishes... I can guess you wanna earn trust, get people indebted to you once they've had a taste maybe but... see thats not where I'm interested in right now."
She chucked the meat back, swallowed and leaned forward over the table, elbows resting on her and her hands making idle gestures to emphasize the flow of her words. "You have ASTA. Now I ain't seen your books but I'm fairly sure you can't maintain an empire like that through illegal shit, at least, anything more illegal than the average big company, without sparking a red flag... so you're a multi-billionaire by Yen standards. Yet here you are, playing both sides. Supporting the heroes, and the villains... I wanna know what the end game is. Do you even have one or... do you just like to watch the 'toys' fight it out?"
There was no malice in her question, just genuine curiosity... with the ball in her court she wanted to see just who Sonya, who Ishtar was.

[attr="class","itsover1"]Ishtar kept her eyes steady even as she felt the sudden urge to glance over at the cup. Yes, she'd slipped up there. Her quirk indeed functioned with radiation; but it acted like a reverse microwave oven. It froze organic material, corroding it, and rotting it. This caused cell death. She rested her hands in her lap and leaned back a bit to get comfortable while Mia considered her options. She wasn't about to go in every direction, asking every question, she knew better than that. Ishtar would more than likely shut down if the pressure got too high and she certainly was in a position to kill if she was offended.
Her lip quirked when Mia moved past the smokescreen that was the wish giving. It was an effective tool, though Mia did not entirely get the point right. That was okay. She kept her face clear of reactions; waiting for the question to finally drop.
And there it was. The question. The question on everyone's mind, she was sure.
What did Ishtar want?
Ishtar let out a small sigh and looked to the right for a moment, her mouth forming a thin expression. She did not look angry or anything, just thoughtful. "I see the world differently than others, it is not something I have never been able to control," She said, willing herself to look Mia in the eye. "Every tiny detail I take in," She smiled and tilted her head, looking Mia over. "Every moment I spend examining something, without intending to I understand it more and more, almost like I have another quirk," She reached up and tapped the side of her head with a mischevious smile; "It's never failed me."
She looked down at her hands and then back up at Mia. Her eyes spun and twisted in her head, the dozens of lenses clicking and ticking. "...after my wife died a few years ago. I took the time to really examine this world we live in," She let out a breath; "Hero society was an inevitability, heroes were something that was going to happen no matter what one did. They would endure, they would grow, and the world would embrace them, and it would be soon."
Ishtar leaned forward and brushed aside the knife and fork the waiter had given them, instead, a blade of clear glass formed in her hand, a fork in the other. She sliced through the meat and took another bite, the tools disappearing just as quickly as they'd formed. She swallowed, tilting her head left and right while she savored the flavor. She swallowed and nodded; "Quirkers would one day eclipse humans as well, again, inevitable," She reasoned, crossing her legs. "Humans would be afraid of this, terrified, wars would break out, larger-scale conflicts, some nations may resort to nuclear options or holocaust scale attempts to curb the Quirker population," She admitted, she looked sadly at her frozen glass of wine and looked back at Mia.
She snickered; "Conquer the world? What a joke. Control the world from the shadows? Preposterous," She waved her hands; "But what if I pitted society against an... anti-society? Heroes versus Villains," She asked, hypothetically, "What if I reduced the viability of armies, and humiliated nations to the point where the greatest battles were between quirkers?" She raised her hands; "It wouldn't be world peace, not by the way you and most understood it, people would die just like always, but the world would keep turning. We wouldn't destroy one another, heroes would keep fighting, getting stronger, and so would villains. An endless cycle to prevent a worse outcome," She sighed and shrugged, drawing a stray hair out of her face.
"There you have it, my solution, simple when I say it out loud," She leaned back, "I considered alternatives of course. But... human history has proven true coexistence is impossible, and the rate of quirker births indicate a trend that would result in either my prediction or eclipse of the human race," She gestured at Mia, "Take your pick, dearie,"

Mia wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and she didn’t pretend to be, but she at least prided herself on wearing her shit on her sleeve. Barring a brief period where she struggled to deal with the red rage incident she’d always made sure not to hide her views or try to pretty them up. Some of them were maybe a little narrow minded. Some of them were maybe not the best generally, but she was at least honest about them. Owned them strongly. She was curious now while she had the opportunity to see what kind of person Ishtar was. See if they were a more high minded person than Thunder or… any of the other rabble on the most wanted list.
She at least had the respect to stop eating for a moment, crossing her arms over herself and leaning back deeper into her chair as she took a long, slow breath and listened to their words. She didn’t know if she was ever meant to expect anything ‘good’ or ‘surprising’ out of this but at the very least she could listen to it. From what she could follow Sonya just didn’t try to view the world through rose tinted or ideological glasses. Her view of the world was raw, perhaps more based in numbers and figures than emotions or the human element of it all. She saw that, eventually, without a distraction or something to aim heroes at, the average joe would see the rise of quirkers as a threat… and quirkers themselves might become that threat they’re seen as.
She wanted to make sure heroes always had a purpose, a use to the average civilian, to fight the villains… she wanted to make sure there were always clear ‘bad guy’ villains to fight so that shades of grey didn’t muddy the waters… that way the ‘humans’ and the ‘quirked’ didn’t up and make enemies of eachother.
She chuckled a little but… the way she hung her head over her folded arms. She could definitely see the point she was making. Mia may not have been the sharpest tool in the shed herself… but she knew there were a lot of people who just pretended to be too. She bit the inside of her lip a little, chewing on the thought… it was a fucking cynical worldview, but it made some level of sense.
“I… can see where yer comin’ from.” She chimed, tearing up more of her steak. She didn’t throw any into her mouth just preparing it for when she was ready, idly glancing from her hands at work to the woman across from her. “I don’t agree. I think I’d rather let the world burn to it’s own devices. It’s natural flow than hold it off… like this.” There was clear disdain for the woman’s method’s in her tone there, shaking her head slowly. “But I can see it. I’ll give you that much. That’s more than I was expecting from today.”
She lifted a chunk of meat, glancing from it to the woman again and simply stated. “No matter what though… blood’s gonna have been spilt. War, or heroes and villains… only difference is a good chunk of the blood can be blamed on you now.” She chucked the scrap of meat back into her mouth.

[attr="class","oneword1"] [attr="class","fromyou1"] @name Lets have ourselves a little fun~

[attr="class","itsover1"]Ishtar was a patient woman, her plans were years in the making. They took time, effort, and a will of iron. But more than that; they took the desire that could not come from simple greed or hate. Her work was a labor of its own twisted sort of love. Ishtar crossed her legs and watched the woman's face across from her. For the first time since Red Horn arrived; she actually looked a bit... disturbed. Unsettled was a better expression. Not because of how much they differed, but over how much they understood one another. Ishtar listened to her and rubbed her thumb over her index finger, deep in thought.
Ishtar took the moment to frown this time. Actually frown. She hadn't made a truly firtive expression the entire time. She narrowed her eyes; Mia would rather let the world be free and burn than be kept in her feedback loop and survive. She looked down at her own hands and considered it. How strange. Why would a hero want to see the world burn? Ishtar believed in freedom as well; the ideal freedom that a villain possessed. The freedom to act with impunity to achieve one's own goals without being constrained by societal norms. The freedom to do whatever one wanted, regardless of how the world saw you.
That was a villain.
Ishtar took a deep breath through her nostrils when Mia continued and looked skyward for a moment as if praying for some measure of patience or... perhaps something else? She sighed; "...isn't it better that way?" She asked, smiling almost sadly; "I'd rather the world hate me than someone with your heroic spirit," She idly cut into her meat and took a bite, she hardly tasted it at this point; hesitating again. "...my words earlier were cruel," She looked up at Mia; "What happened in Tokyo was not entirely your fault, you deserve better than the way society has turned on you," She set her knife and fork down and took a breath.
"...do you want to ask me anything else?"

Mia was left oddly exhausted thinking on that question with herself. The idea of giving the world a villain so the people in it didn't just turn on eachother and make things worse. When she spoke of 'freedom' it wasn't quite the idea of a villain. At most it was the idea of a vigilante. Someone who still tried to uphold the law but perhaps skirted it when it didn't seem fair to those around them. When they broke the rules just to see more good get done. The unbound lawlessness of a villain was a little beyond what she could consider as reasonable, but... if Ishtar was truly being honest with her, Mia might classify her as a vigilante by her own definition. She was trying to break the rules to do good... albeit on the most extreme end of the scale that Mia had ever seen...
She wasn't sure she was comfortable with it. She wasn't sure she was UNcomfortable with it.
Her brow rose a bit as the woman mentioned being a little cruel about things earlier, Mia scoffing a little and shaking her head. She didn't know how much Ishtar knew with her little network of spies and informants. At least, Mia imagined she had such a thing but... "Tell ya what. You gave me honesty. I'll give you some too... it's not like you can ever prove anything I say here without risking your own identity too so..." She groaned softly and shifted in her seat, growing stiff just from thinking about this thing to begin with. "The whole Red Rage incident... definitely my fault I'm afraid. Muramasa was blamed so that the government could save face on it's hero program but... that was all me. A side effect of my quirk we recently discovered..."
She raised an arm infront of herself, rolling up her sleeve as high as she could and flexing her arm. It was slow, she wasn't angry or fighting, but it slowly expanded, her tusks pushing out over her top lip and the sound of straining fabric briefly sounding as Mia seemed to reach her maximum size, even her chair creaking beneath her. "I used to get red skin when I hit my limits... a representation of when i was as strong as i could be. When I couldn't get any bigger or any tougher..." She dug her own nails into her palm to push herself as she held a tighter fist, her knuckles starting to turn that deep, dry red and spreading over her whole fist before she relaxed with a breath. Since she wasn't fighting, she shrunk back to her average size much faster than she'd grown. "Now though I can go beyond that but... my Red as I call it, it spreads like an infection. I get even bigger and even tougher... but i get angrier, my head gets cloudier, and if I get too angry I can't hold it back. I can't give myself a choice after a point... that's what Muramasa did. He pushed me to my limits is all."
She leaned back and crossed her arms with a sigh through her nose. "When my entire skin is red, and my horn-casing cracks, I just... I lose my mind. The entire day was a foggy mess to me and I barely remember any of it. I know I was fighting other heroes and trying my best to direct myself away from civilians but... that's about it. That's all I remember being able to do." She shrugged again, letting out a heavy sigh. "So yeah... I'm the one to blame there. I've come to terms with it. I'm getting better at suppressing it but... that fucker Muramasa... he was taunting me as we fought... he knew. He was purposely trying to get me to that state and kept telling me to give into it... apparently he gets some hard on for seeing people give into rage like it's some fucking religion of his..."
She shook off the thought of Muramasa, he wasn't all that important right now... as much as she'd love to still punch his face in some day. Her eyes drifted up to Sonya, thinking... "Hey... while your being honest... I told you what I think about you... you tell me what you think about me now... world thinks I'm a shit hero most of the time. What does the 'great' Miss Chernova think?"

[attr="class","itsover1"]Ishtar leaned back a little bit in her seat when Mia began to spill her own brand of honesty. She crossed her legs and placed her hand in her lap, her unblinking eyes remaining on Red Horn at all times; drinking in detail after detail. She tilted her head a little when the woman admitted that the Red Rage incident was entirely her fault. Because her quirk went into overdrive, because Muramasa pushed her to her limits, becase she 'allowed' herself to succumb to the rage. The supervillain kept her mouth shut for most of it, her eyes narrowing now and then, reacting with cautious obsevation to the story.
She crossed her arms when Mia shook off the thoughts that were beginning to plague her. Muramasa. Aha. She'd been keeping track of that one for a little while yet; though she'd been careful not to make direct contact. It was better to indirectly guide a force like that rather than try to take control of it. Ishtar looked Mia in the eye when the woman asked her for more honesty. Ishtar let out a breath and relaxed her arms, twining her fingers together and looking away for a few moments, thinking. She looked up at Mia after a bit and smiled an easy smile.
"Did you know that you were the first woman I'd been with whom I'd let take complete control since my wife died?" She said bluntly, her hands sliding up her own frail looking arms and gripping tightl. She looked down for a few moments then back up, "You made me feel... safe, for once, back then," She admitted, "I'd only just come up with my plan for the world about a year before. I'd been training my quirk, studying, practicing, I was preparing to go to Shinagawa to do a little 'shopping' to get my business started..." She laughed. "And then in the hot springs I met you..."
She reclined a little, "You are strong, powerful, mighty, but warm in your own way, you care deeply though you try to brush it off with a gruff exterior. You're actually pretty good with kids, which I admire, but most importantly you have an open mind, you're more intelligent than most realize and that's valuable," She smiled, "Most importantly though... you're preciously naive," She made a face; "You can control the existance of the flaws of a quirk as well as you can decide the color of your skin," She said sharply, waving a hand.
"I do not believe that you are at fault for what happened that day, regardless of what you say," She said flatly, opening her hands and placing them on her lap.
"I respect you, Mia,"

Mia scoffed out as Sonya brought up their night together in response to what she'd said. She felt a little bad, she hadn't really 'kept up' with Sonya as a public figure so hearing her wife had died was news to her. Seemed a bit young to be married, let alone a widow but... Mia wouldn't think to pry, not at that moment. Her fingers drummed against the table between them as she listened to the rest of what she had to say... the compliments had a nice effect at least she could say that, but most of all having the woman's respect was the clincher of her words...
"I dunno how to feel, having a villain's respect of all things but... well, I guess it's gotta count for something..."
She shifted in her seat again, her food pretty much gone at this point but not so eager to leave just yet. She wasn't sure what else to ask, she'd wasted all her brain cells on her wish, a wish that could come in handy in the future too but... she wasn't the best person to utilize it that much was certain. She took a slow breath as she absorbed what was said about her, starting as a mutter before her voice became clearer.
"It was my fault... it was definitely my fault though, and I gotta own that. I know I can control it now, suppress it, channel it just right... it bothers me that there's an aspect of myself I can't fully control. That eventually I have a limiter, that I have to stop fighting, or stop pushing, just so I don't... wild out on someone. But... it's an aspect of me now. One I gotta live with. I can't go looking for excuses or hiding behind lies to myself. Gotta face the problem head on ya know..."
She drummed her fingers on the table again. "Thanks though... thanks."
She lifted her head, a question on her tongue and she thought on it for a moment. Things had calmed down between them, both of them had no intentions of ending the other here. Mia knew it'd be too risky and... well if Sonya wanted to she'd have done it by now surely. She worried if the question on her mind might get her to pull that trigger though...
"You don't have to answer me but I'm gonna ask... what happened to your wife? I'm not... asking thinking there's some conspiracy or some crap I just... never knew you were married."
