[attr="class","itsover1"] Ishtar pressed her back against the wall, trying to catch her breath. Too soon! It happened too soon this time! She wasn't done! She grit her teeth, feeling a wave of nausea and ache spread through her body, almost forcing her to remove her respirator. The hisses that accompanied each intake of breath were rapid, and unfortunately yet another way for her pursuer to track her. She tried to slow her breathing and concentrate, but it just wasn't coming. She pinched her nose and fought through the pain, pulling her hand way and staring at the mercury that stained her skin.
"Damn it," She rasped.
"Found you!" The gravely voice came, she looked up, a dog shaped head, she snarled and darted to the right, whipping out a thin ribbon of white light up in his direction. He deftly moved aside, darting to the right and to the next building. From what she could tell his quirk made him not much different from your average canine. He'd caught her scent and hadn't let up since then. A minor vigilante turned pro-hero recently, Mark-Hound was just getting his start when he caught a lucky break.
Ishtar after clearing a small alley of a gang of thugs was feeling a little more worn out than usual, her quirk was failing her, and he was fresh. He showed no mercy; attacking with all the ferocity his quirk would allow. She reached for her arm, feeling the ache; blood, silver blood dripped down her arm from the wound. He'd burned one of his claws on her skin but it had only made things worse for her too. She rounded a corner, his pants coming closer as she dived toward a new direction.
Something, there had to be something. This was NOT how she was going down! Not caught by some part timer because her god damned body couldn't keep up!
She hit the wall, gasping for breath, coughing, her legs losing strength. Her glowing eyes locked on the hero.
"Son of a bitch..." She hissed, pressing back, she didn't have time to come up with a strategy. She needed something.
The brown haired dog-man loomed over her. "Poor choice of words, lady. You're under arrest,"

Byeol-Su liked it when the weather got cooler. It meant she could go out on her own without the fear of melting, meant she could have some of her little freedoms back. And that was doubly true these days with how much of her time was spent with...things. People. He had been going to things without her and she'd had Niso over a few times, or visited Luzia, but something about being only with one of the two of them was doing funny things to her brain. As if that accident hadn't done enough by itself. She needed some "ParaSyte" time. Time to do her own stuff, and explore with only distant eyes on her rather than fretting guardians watching her steps.
Maybe she was just going a little stir crazy.
Walks were good for that though, so here she was, just walking down the street and minding her own business, enjoying the dark, enjoying the quiet.
Up until a bright white light shot out from a nearby alley, and a large canine-like man dodging it, she stopped and took a step closer to the corner of the building nearest her. After a moment they darted into the alley. She took a few more timid steps closer, and looked up at the building's edge, where the light had seemed to graze when he dodged. It looked singed, like it had been hit by very very hot fire, but she hadn't really felt heat coming off of it. And she was very sensitive to heat. Byeol-Su frowned and kept walking down, looking around for signs of more passage. Luckily, the persons running seemed to be dripping something on the ground as they went.
Silver paint? It sparkled in a funny way, more than just paint could. It looked a little familiar but she wasn't sure of why. Cold fire and silver liquid and white light...something was ringing a bell, and made her push onward.
When she rounded another corner, following the shiny reflections of the liquid on concrete, she saw the shadow of the dog man standing between herself and somebody pressed against the wall in front of him. Seeing her bright shining eyes and long white hair, the pieces clicked into place.
Ishtar!
Oh no, is that a hero? Is she in trouble? Is the silver stuff her blood??
Byeol-Su hesitated a moment longer, shrouded still in shadow and not really smelling or sounding like anything human to sensitive noses and ears.
What should I do? Should I call Iseul? If she's caught a lot of bad things will happen. A lot of people will be sad, or caught. Where will Ayame and Suzume go? Not back to Thunder, that'd be awful. Or Primula? No no...
"No!"
Her small, high voice cut through the sound of Sonya's ragged breaths and she reached her hand out towards her. At once, she felt her body thinning in places, like it was hallowing out from the inside, and all of it focused on her extended arm instead. The limb suddenly burst forward and covered the entire reach of the alley, and at the last moment, her fingertips all sharpened into needle-fine points, and dug into the back of the canine in front of her. She felt the pull as her nails pierced through clothing and skin, the familiar way her body sought a host, sought protection, but she fought it. She wasn't making him bleed to gain access. Just to hurt him.
She'd never done this to somebody before. Used her own hands to harm, used her own nails to cut and bleed. The closest she'd come to was with Niso at the fire, but even then, that had been "them", not "her".
It was actually kind of liberating.
Another second, and her nails elongated, pushing five tightly knit needles even deeper into her back of the hero's torso, cutting through with a sharpness that went through stone and metal with no effort. Skin was nothing. Bones were nothing. She'd get it through as far as she could, and if she could get her hand deep enough to almost pierce through to the other side...her hand would open, her nails slicing right through the rest of him.

[attr="class","itsover1"]Her body ached again, another pang of agony. She gasped, the sound coming out like a cough through the respirator's speakers, her whole body trembled and her feet caved out from under her; she slid down the wall and let out a shuddering breath. Damn. Damn. Damn. She looked down at her arm, her veins had almost entirely turned silver. She was breathing too hard. Too much oxygen in her blood; her red blood cells were starting to mercurate. She leaned back a little, kicking against the ground and pressing herself further back as the big man lumbered toward her. She reached up and gripped the wound on her arm, squeezing. Gotta calm down. Gotta stop bleeding.
"No!"
A small voice. High pitched. Erupted somewhere behind the man-dog. He let out a gasp of pain, jerking back as something dug into his spine. Ishtar stared up at the trembling figure; wide eyed, the spinning of her eyes having come to a dead stop; not a thought in her mind except surprise. The next instant, a ripping sound, blood sprayed, Ishtar winced, splatter hitting her shirt. There... there was a hole in the hero's chest. A hand, small fingers spread out, having ripped clean through his body. His limbs buckled beneath him and he trembled, trying to stay standing. His eyes wobbled in his own skull. He dropped to a knee, a death rattle building in his punctured lungs.
Ishtar looked past him, her glowing eyes piercing through the darkness.
"...ParaSyte?" Ishtar said, shocked, the name trembling out before she could even stop herself. She knew ParaSyte, the dear girl, who had taken such a liking to her daughters the Cordyceps twins. A welcome figure in her household. A friend.
But still a villain.
Ishtar had tried to foster a sense of camaraderie amongst the villains, a sense of friendship, a desire to back the other up whenever the time came. But... she'd never seen concrete results, never seen it work for herself. Never... this. Her body was so weak, her mind was going in circles. Gratitude, relief, and agony all warred in Ishtar's body as she tried to force herself to stand.
"...ParaSyte?" She mumbled, her head lulling a little. "...my... my pocket... right side... inside coat... medicine... it's a big needle dear..." She struggled to say. "Into my heart, please..." She needed a booster. The injection would temporarily reverse the mercuration and stabilize her. She let out a heady rasp and her head dipped forward, her eyes going dark. Poison. Damn it she was dying again.

She had felt this sort of thing before. The way that muscle and skin felt like firm, warm jello when sliced into, and how blood felt thick against ones hands and thicker as it cooled. It wasn't new, but it was the first time she had felt it with her own hands and her own "skin" as opposed to through his, or whoever else was hosting her. That death wouldn't be too slow, at least. She was sure she's ripped through a lung, if not his heart, as well as his stomach. He would be dead in a minute or so. She knew it would have hurt but hopefully he would stop feeling it before that happened...why did she care if he did or didn't, though? He was a hero, he'd been about to hurt Ishtar whom she liked. The world needed less heroes. But still.
I feel too much pain. I'd rather kill somebody fast than slow and painfully.
When his body hit the ground with a heavy thud Byeol-Su's arm retracted back to her body to its normal length, and she rushed around the soon-to-be corpse to reach Ishtar. She looked bad. There was silver stuff dripping from her nose and arm and she was breathing loudly. That could have been the mask but from the way her chest rose and fell she didn't think so.
"Wh--" she had been about to ask what happened, but before the word was finished Ishtar breathed out some instructions. Medicine? Ishtar needed a medicine. Was it for this silver stuff coming out of her? Was it her Quirk?
Kind of like me...or us, I guess.
Byeol-Su nodded and her little hands dug into Ishtar's jacket, fishing out a fine black case that looked about the right size for a couple of needles, but when she unclicked the latch it was just one big one. Byeol-Su swallowed. Most children in the world hated getting shots, but her body didn't ever really lend itself well to injections. She had to take medicine orally. But she had seen others get needles put in their arms or even throat sometimes, this couldn't be too different? But right into her heart...there were bones there weren't there? If only Iseul was here. He was the doctor, not her.
But Ishtar probably wouldn't live very long if she tried to wait for him. She was asking her, a child, to do this. She was in a very, very bad place.
She picked up the needle and removed a protective cap from it, lined up the best place she could figure to be Ishtar's heart--should she move her clothes? Uhh, that might take too long, too. This outfit looked complicated. Actually did she even have the strength to pierce this through clothes and skin and muscle and possibly even bone...?
Strength, no. But I can cut through it with--
Byeol-Su placed one of her hands against Ishtar's chest over her heart, a finger pointing at her chest, while the other held the needle just over it. She focused, and with as much precision as she could manage, her nail turned into a needle itself, just as thin yet far sharper, cutting through with ease. She felt the feelings of blood again as well as the familiar pull, but when she felt the very faintest of beats against her nail she withdrew it. There. Clean hole to the heart without cutting it. I could heal her afterward...maybe...if that silver stuff isn't dangerous to me...it burns a little. Is that her blood?
And with that Byeol-Su pushed the needle into the pre-made path to Ishtar's heart, and felt it hit and pierce through a barrier of meat as it hit her heart. She pushed down on the plunger and the liquid inside went through.
Hopefully she had done this right.
But it wasn't like Ishtar would live long enough to scold her if she hadn't.

[attr="class","itsover1"]Ishtar's mind sank, deeper, deeper, deeper still. She could feel that little voice getting louder in her ear. That woman's voice. She knew that voice. She didn't know that voice. That woman, motherly, warm, but angry. She was so... angry. Ishtar struggled in her own mind as she sank down towards the blackness. There, she saw her; deep within her own psyche, that woman. She glowed with anotherworldly light; but it was ablaze, out of control, unrefined, like a bonfire next to Ishtar's honed furnace. But it was so... bright. She held up her hand to cover her eyes.
"You have your own reasons, but I have mine. It's time we set our differences aside... Sonya," the voice said. The woman held out her hand.
Something wedged itself into her chest. She gasped, her eyes rolling back into her head as real agony blazed to life inside her body. The needle plunged into her heart, pushing medicine into her blood and forcing it through her body. She seized, struggled, gasped for air, her body tensing, her quirk dimmed and the light faded so fast that her pale skin actually looked sickly. She clawed at the ground; foam forming at her mouth as the silver blood in her veins began to turn red and flow, coagulate, and slow to a stop in the smaller injuries. She shook her head over and over, struggling to endure the pain, to fight back, to stay awake.
"UEGAKI!" She shrieked, gasping, tossing herself to her side and clutching at her chest, the medicine, someone had given her medicine, someone had saved her. She coughed, her mind trying to catch up with all the details. She heaved, coughing again, throwing up and then finally taking a steady, even breath. Her hair matted, her body worn, she shoved herself upright, looking around blearily; her eyes catching up and the artificial lenses processing information quickly.
ParaSyte.
Ishtar stared at her, reaching up and wiping her lips; she looked down at the red angry ooze of blood coming out of her right arm and cringed, reaching up and grabbing it to apply pressure. Her blood was red again, that was good, thank god, she closed her eyes. God it hurt. But hurting meant she was still alive; she'd survived another mercury attack. How many more of those did she have left in her? She coughed again and looked up at ParaSyte.
"...thank you, dearie, you've saved my life."

She wasn't sure whether or not she had done that right, just from the first reaction. It was violent and shocking and scary. Byeol-Su flinched back as Ishtar flailed and writhed and foamed. It wasn't just scary, it was...familiar. Frighteningly familiar. She'd only ever seen one person foam like this.
And they died very shortly after.
Byeol-Su squeezed her eyes tight, not daring to look at Ishtar.
I don't want to see more friends--
The wracking gasps and coughs turned into a small voice, and Byeol-Su cracked an eye open. Ishtar still looked bad. Very bad. She still had a whole needle in her chest. And blood(?) coming out of her nose and a very injured arm. How could she help? If she went in, could she heal her? Or... "Are you sure? Your arm is still bad. I can heal it but," her hand raised and hesitated over the injury, then retracted, "What's wrong with your blood? Is it bad? Is it metal? Or turning into metal? Is it bad to leave the needle in? Will you bleed to death from your heart if we, um, take it out?"
She looked down at her frog-shaped purse, and opened it to show her little smart phone. "I have a phone. I can call my friend, if you need a doctor...if this is over a quirk then we are very very good at helping with that..."
