Well this was just fucking dandy! Trust her deal with Ishtar to end up like some fucking monkey's paw shit!
Mia had been rushing across the city for what felt like a solid ten minutes which, while it didn't seem like much, in an emergency situation could mean a LOT of casualties. From the updates she was getting everything was holding steady and evacuations were moving well but the situation seemed to be escelating at the very least, so with every rooftop she touched down on she hit it harder, rebounded more firmly, more swiftly, soaring into the sky again with a greater force behind her and the wind cutting deeper against her skin.
From what she'd managed to gather Muramasa had resurfaced. Her dicussion with Ishtar that day meant she'd make sure for her that the guy did so the two could have a rematch, but whatever taunting or goading she'd put him through had resulted in not one, but 5 separate attacks. From the sounds of things the one in her area was specifically Muramasa herself while the others had been attributed to his weird ass rage cult. She didn't expect to still see him there so... what was the point? From their first meeting she knew he had some weird obsession with her. Thought she could end up like him somehow but... FUCK! She needed to get there! Mulling on these thoughts wasn't doing her any good!
This fucker had some grand plan in mind. She knew that much... but this was not the time to be dissecting it!
Arriving on the scene she put some give into her legs and was ready to crash down into a roll, still easily cracking the tarmac beneath her feet but that was nothing the clean up crews for these things couldn't handle. She let out deep, heavy breaths as she rushed over to the nearest official on the scene, aiming for the fire department since they tended to have less issues with her than the police, brushing some loose bits of gravel off of her and wiping the sweat from her brow with the bandages covering her forearms.
"What's the situation?" She'd ask, not sure if she was doing to some leader of a group or just a regular... officer? Were they called fire department 'officers'? Ugh again not the time but her brain was frazzled right now. She just needed to get in there and do the work...

And people wondered why Quirks were dangerous.
This was why. This right here.
The elderly fire chief stuck his gloved hand in under his visor, wiping away beads of sweat but leaving a smear of dirt and grime in it's wake. Clouds of dust and smoke made the air clammy and hot, clinging to every surface. It was hard to get a full read on the situation but his teams had at least secured access to the building now. Five levels, what looked like a relatively formal office building with mostly concrete and glass, not a huge amount of weight on each floor but...
It looked like some giant had taken a fucking bite out of the bottom corner of the building. That hadn't been the case, from what he'd been told by police witnesses but it was hard to imagine a human making this sort of mess, doing this sort of damage. Casualties had, at least, been minimal... for now.
"Tokugawa! Take your team and raise those ladders at the back side of the building. I want minimal team members on those unstable floors. Matsunaga, call the next prefecture, get a crane up here, now!" He looked at the wrecked car wedged in the second floor, how it put so much pressure on that already unstable section. Any significant weight or disturbance would set it off and the floor wasn't strong enough to support that weight for long. There was probably already stress fractures... and the people in that car were unconscious and most likely unfit to just get out and walk away.
Shit. Shit shit! There'd been five attacks within an hour, five buildings all hit in similar ways but this one was the worst of it. This one was... This one was the worst he'd seen in 50 years of working for the fire department. Quirkers... fucking Quirkers!
"Sir, the medical team's just arrived!" Relief washed over him. They could start moving the people on the lower floors out now, at least. "Tell them to move in teams of two, assign each team of two to a fire team. You see anything start catching, you lead them out of there, immediately! Evacuate the ground floor first if you can." The junior firefighter saluted and rushed off to speak to the relative fleet of ambulances that had arrived.
His head turned suddenly at the crunching sound, heart dropping like a stone as he thought it was the floor starting to break or god forbid that lunatic coming back... instead it was one of them. A particular one of them that was going to be of no help right now. Hell he'd had to clean up her fucking mess from a few months back as well. People had gotten hurt then, why would be different now, apology or no? No. No time to think of that now. She wanted to help, clearly, that's what that stupid Hero System was for, right? And if she died, no skin of his back.
He took a deep breath, watching the medical teams start loading up and moving off towards the ground floor. "Ground floor is missing a corner, as is the first and second floor, which are unstable and tipping. We've got a crane on the way to remove that wedged in car but-... Fuck, it's going to take a while before we can get it out of there and even if we do, we can't move it unless the people inside are freed." He turned to her, his expression frustrated but determined. He was at least 40 years her senior, maybe even more and yet the stress from his job probably made him look even older than that.
"You want to help, kid? Go in with the fire teams on the ground floor, start moving any rubble that would obstruct their extraction. Be careful of anyone who has spinal or leg injuries! Moving the wrong piece of concrete could cost them any chance of recovery." She looked strong and if she was able to do so much damage to the city before she might be able to at least push a few rocks out the way, right? Maybe move a few low risk people out of harms way?
This was going to hell in a hand basket, and fast.
A small group of firefighters ran up, relatively young but with how frequent these sorts of situations were becoming, highly experienced. The determined looks on their faces told the old crusty fire chief they at least still had their spirits about them. Good. They'd need that. "This is Kira and Rakujo. You two, accompany Red Horn here into the building, grab a team of paramedics as you go. Stick to the ground floor, I don't want this one-" He motioned to the large, muscular hero. "-causing unnecessary stress on the unstable floors."
Both of them nodded quickly, responding with a 'sir!', before dashing off towards the building.

From the look on his aged face Mia knew from the start her presence wasn't entirely welcome here but... whether it was down to her wish with Sonya or just Muramasa's obsession with her, she knew this was in some way related to her, maybe even her fault, so she wasn't about to roll over and go away easily. She folded her arms tight and glanced up towards the building over his head as he detailed the situation. Muramasa had basically just fucked the place up and left it as a trap for her... the place could come down any moment and she knew it. What was this meant to test? If she could hold herself back enough to save people or if she'd give into her rage like he wanted? She shook her head in frustration, putting the questions aside for now and just wanting to face the problem and help get people out of here safely. Thankfully, she didn't need to give the old guy the big sell, just taking a deep, calming breath, and a firm nod as she listened to his instructions. With police she ran the show, she showed up and they covered her back. But here? As much as she tried to save people a rescue op wasn't her specialty. She knew who she was, a bull in a china shop... but she needed to be here, she needed to help, so she respected his judgement, not even taking offense to his comment about her causing stress on the upper floors.
"Aye sir." She said firmly and respectfully, no sarcasm in her tone. A hand raised and gave the senior officer a salute of respect real quick, but beyond meeting their gaze she didn't stop for the younger faces approaching, patting one on the shoulder as she started to jog towards the building. "Okay you two with me. You-" She pointed to the furthest of them from her. "Grab the paramedics. You-" She pointed to the closer one. "Point of entry, pick one out." She'd let them have a brief look over the building, using their experience with these situations and took their advice to go in through one of the wall length shattered windows of the building, ducking under a bit of the structure that had started to hag loose and would have hit someone her size in the head. Even inside now she'd let them step first, following their lead to a blocked off hallway they'd been meaning to get through.
"Don't even threat. I got this. Step back and guide the paramedics your friend grabbed in while I handle this." Not even considering this a challenge, she popped her neck to either side and stepped up into the rubble, kicking away some lesser rocks so she had a clean place to stand, taking the weight of a fallen bit of metallic framework for the building and hoisting it up onto her shoulders, hearing the creak of it bend a little against her muscles as she shifted it enough to allow for a clear line of passage, keeping herself under it as the small team flowed through. "Come on, on the double, got lives to save people!~" She was still worried this was in some way her fault but... she put on a smile, had to keep the morale up here.

Kira and Rakujo were somewhat perplexed by Red Horn trying to take control of the team considering they had much more experience but getting bogged down about command structure would just waste time. Especially considering she wasn't exactly wrong in her assessment. Kira jogged off quickly to find a pair of paramedics; one of whom was an off-duty surgeon who'd been in the area and had been drafted in to help while the other was a proper experienced paramedic. The surgeon in particular looked rather nervous, field work like this wasn't really his specialty but they both knew what they had to do.
Rakujo on the other hand dashed towards the other fire teams that were currently assessing the building, consulting with them on a proper entry point. The front door was out of commission, both due to damage and because, should the car or even the floor fall, that'd be the first point of impact. "Red Horn! Over here!" He led them through one of the shattered side windows, Kira and the two paramedics falling in behind.
The ceiling was already slanting heavily towards the open corner, straining under the weight of the car above. The two firefighters exchanged worried glances, before leading the team through the ruined office cubicles towards a hallway that acted as a chokepoint to the rest of the operation. A few paramedics and firefighters had braved the climb before now but with Red Horn here, the hallway would at least be able to be cleared.
They watched in awe as she so effortlessly lifted the steal beam and structure out of the way, shifting it aside to let them pass. It'd have taken them at least another 30 minutes, maybe even an hour to clear that normally. By that time many of the people lying injured in the atrium beyond would be dead, or at least unable to recover fully from their injuries. Perhaps there was something to why she'd been #1 Hero for so long after all, the chief was perhaps a little too cynical.
Kira ushered them all through the gap, forcing them onward into the atrium where the sloping of the ceiling was even more prevalent. The outside could be seen through the ruined, mangled walls and with them the hustle and bustle of people rushing to save those trapped. A tall firefighter jogged up to greet them, his face caked in dirt but clearly trying to be optimistic, despite the circumstances. "Aha! The cavalry's arrived! We could definitely use your help, there's a kid pretty badly stuck beneath some rubble towards the entrance. Careful though, that car's gonna be right above you. You hear any creaking or crunching, get the hell out of there." With that, he slapped Rakujo on the shoulder before rushing back to his own situation.
"Come on, this way." Rakujo and Kira led the team towards the entrance-way, pushing through loose bits of plasterboard, dust and broken glass. Certain sections of the floor were torn up, like some great beast had ripped chunks out of it with their fingers. The door, normally a modern glass door design, lay absent but the upper metallic frame bend and twisted into what looked like a nest of jagged thorns. Even someone small would be hard pressed to crawl under that without cutting themselves pretty badly.
No fires though, that was a good thing.
The pre-teen under the rubble wasn't hard to find. He was unconscious clearly but when the paramedics checked his vitals, he was at least stable. A large chunk of wall had fallen and clearly compressed his hips side-on. He lay in an almost fetal position, the heavy metal and concrete pinning him to the ground and probably causing enough pain that it caused him to black out. Around him lay a lot of now empty spilled Labelle's cafe coffee cups and assorted snacks. "Poor kid was out getting lunch for the office..."
One of the paramedics spoke up, a wizened man in his mid-40s with shaggy black hair and an uncomfortable-looking scraggly salt and pepper beard. "Vitals are stable. Can't assess the damage to the legs without moving the rubble but he's definitely lucky... if it had struck him head on he'd have lost both legs... I need 300 milligrams of morphine, then check his spine for any fractures." KIra and Rakujo beckoned Red Horn over to the kid's legs, inspecting the piece of bent reinforced metal. "We're gonna need you to lift this real gently, ok? Just up and off the legs. We can help keep it steady if you need it." They both crouched down to help if Mia requested it but didn't touch the beam in case even a simple touch caused unnecessary strain on any potential wounds. Even after moving this piece, it was probably going to take a long while before they could safely move him...

With the crew moving in through the hallway she was holding clear Mia caught the words of some kid being further ahead. Shit... Muramasa the fuck were you doing. Was this all really worth it? You expect her to rage out while there are fucking kids in danger!? She tried to bury the frustration, every slither of it and focus on the task at hand. She briefly thought about dropping the part of the structure she was holding but realized that'd force the team to rely on her any time they needed to move through here. She jostled the piece subtly, making sure it wasn't affecting any other part of the walls or ceiling around it before she started to bend and adjust the metal, forcing it into a shape that held itself up. You may have to crouch, maybe duck your head if you were short to get under it, but it was better than Mia being the only method of getting through here everytime. With that in place she started a light jog, emphasis on light, to catch up to the group, constantly aware of her size and her weight, even on the ground floor.
From the looks of things as she caught up it seemed the kid was out cold under some of the rubble, her throat seeming quite dry all of a sudden seeing the dangers people were in because of what was pretty much just her feud with some criminal and his wretched fascination in turn. Another slow breath, her body filtering out all the dust in the air with the tiniest of coughs to get it out of her lungs, moving closer to the kid and crouching low while trying to stay out the way of those who knew what they were doing. One of them seemed cautious around her, or maybe it was her imagination, but now wasn't the time to make a song and dance about it.
"Alright kid..." She spoke softly, even knowing he wouldn't hear her. "We got you..." She shifted her hands underneath the metal piece, easier to lift than the last but there was more at risk here as far as she was concerned. She started to lift, but froze the moment she saw the kid wincing from the pain even while passed out, his body convulsing briefly as his muscles reacted to what he consciously couldn't... okay. One big, slow breath. "Right... I can tell this is too much for you lot but you're the experts... I want you guys in here." She waited for someone to get a hold with her. "Now... just start lifting in the way you think is most safe for the kid. I need a good feel for it." She could take verbal instructions, sure, but for such precise directions that was a risk if she misunderstood what exactly they meant. She instead felt for how the metal shifted, watched out they moved, got a sense for what they were trying before she went for it again herself.
"Okay... HNGH!" It was still a cautious motion but the moment the rubble was off the kid, no long scraping against them or adding pressure, she hoisted it up onto her shoulders. Her instinct was to toss it aside like she might in a fight but she resisted that gut response, placing it carefully to one side and moving to give the workers some space as they helped the kid, her head low, not wanting her horn to even scrape the ceiling in a place like this. She looked to one of the workers with her and dipped her head more in a respectful motion. She was here to help now that they were inside. She wasn't the expert, she was a tool to be used.

That wince caused a sharp intake of breath from the middle aged paramedic. Everyone froze, hearts in their throat as they anticipated something going wrong but after a few moments everything seemed fine. Externally, at least. It hadn't been Mia's fault, of course. The fact that he had felt that was not something they had been anticipating, especially with the morphine taking over his system. It mean there was a lot more damage than they'd feared. Potentially crushed pelvic bone, fractured upper leg... could even be putting pressure on the femoral artery.
Rakujo came to Mia's aid when she asked, giving her a quick nod as he placed his hands around as much of the beam as possible. He was young and strong but compared to Mia he might as well be a child trying to lift a whole skyscraper but he was well trained. Knowing how to lift something was just as important as actually lifting it. "Just an inch or so at a time, the slower we release the pressure, the longer time the paramedic has to assess for internal bleeding. Do you feel that?" He tried his best to convey the lifting speed he needed, Kira working to remove any smaller pieces of debris around the boy's legs.
"There we go, that's it!" With her newfound knowledge Mia had successfully lifted the beam up and away from the unfortunate young man. The paramedics wasted no time in attending to his legs; even if there wasn't much blood, the uncomfortable way his hips and legs were bent told even a bystander that this was going to be a difficult and long extraction. Yet the smile on Rakujo's face would easily tell her that she did a good job, even if he was clearly sweating.
A few seconds of relative silence passed, everyone just concerned about the boy. No one wanted to move, as if even just touching the air around him might make it worse, even as the paramedics worked.
Suddenly, a horrid screeching sound cut through the silence like a knife.
The wail of bending, twisting metal, cracking concrete supports, snapping rebar. Howls of terror from the crowd outside. Glass shatters and rains down from the floor above to the streets outside. It all happens in a fraction of a second, a solitary moment in time that seemed to stretch on for hours, as if time had stopped.
Everything moved all at once. Rakujo's first instinct was to dive to protect the boy next to him, placing his body over him, the others curled into a fetal position as best they could, even before they knew what was happening. Yet a single glance upward would tell Mia and the team that the weight of the car had been too much for the floor above and it was rapidly bending and falling, about to crush the people below. The people outside all stared on in horror as so many emotions poured out in the blink of an eye. Fear, panic, dread, sadness... save them! They're about to be crushed! Save them! PLEASE!
Even in the cacophony of noise, a scream of terror could be heard from Kira, her heart thundering in her chest as the ceiling collapsed downwards. This was the last moment of her life. All those people she'd saved from burning buildings, all those smiling faces... she'd never get to see them again. She'd never get to tell Rakujo how she felt... she'd never get to-...
THUNK!
Here eyes slowly opened, tears running down her cheeks as she coughed from the dust cloud. "I-I'm... alive... h-how..."

Mia gave a careful nod and listened to the advice she was being given carefully. This wasn't the time to showboat, she had to give way to someone who knew more than she did and with a calm breath she eased off slowly, as weak as it was compared to her she used that guiding touch as best she could and eventually removed the rubble from the poor civilian. Rather than the instinct to toss the rubble aside she carefully placed it away, just making sure no more quakes or vibrations or even a fucking chip on the paintwork came to the building. They couldn't take any risks with such a fragile life now at play. She looked over the injuries, minimal training in first aid for her hero work, but even she could tell this damage... it wasn't gonna be something you could recover from easily. She knew their were healer quirks out there now, but even if it was just the trauma of the pain, this one was gonna need some time to recover from today...
She eased off back and away, silent like most of the party and folding her arms. She didn't want to take charge... well, she did, but she knew this wasn't the time for it. A better leader may have told them to suck it up, grab their stuff, move onto the next person and leave behind only who was needed, but she wasn't a perfect leader. She wasn't the movie action star who always knew what to say. She was human, and she knew they were human... they needed to make sure, personally, that this person was safe, that's all there was to i-
The grating sound of metal on metal. Mia's eyes flew up as she heard the glass fall from above. Without much thought she grabbed one of the larger chunks of broken wall and raised it above the heads of the main group like a shield against the deadly rain of shards. It was a simple form of protection but it did the work for most of them. Others raised their arms up and rushed to her for a more permanent cover. One of them leapt over the injured civilian. The glass seemed to stop. There was a brief pause in the chaos and-
Time slowed.
Her vision was clear. There was a burning in her ears, like... a premonition to a sound yet to be made. Her red gaze turned about over her shoulder and.
She couldn't breathe.
Her lungs were fine, her throat was fine, her lips were parted. But she couldn't breathe. The pain was so sudden it sent everything into shock. Before she even realized her actions she was here... looking over that terrified woman, watching as blood dripped onto their uniform. It wasn't a leap to figure out who's blood it was. Her senses dulled back to their regular amount, and her eyes, shaky as they were, shifted to her shoulder.
1. 2. 3. Three thick chunks of rebarb had penetrated right through her shoulder, wrenching through the bone and the muscle. She'd acted so quickly her body couldn't keep up, and the red skin that should have prevented such deep damage hadn't formed in time. Even now as it tried to catch up the tough, hard skin was just trying to seal around the wounds, muscle mass increasing, wrapping around the harsh metal and forcing it in deeper, a constant grinding of growing and healing flesh against harsh metal. The pain began to dull, from a nuke like explosion across her nerves to a constant fire, centered on her shoulder. She could feel the strain on the back of her shoulders, her hands as they'd already moved to hold back the collapsing portion of the building... she'd never handled a weight like this before. Not one this constant. A punch with this force maybe, held back by a guard... but to have it all pressing on her like this, and the constant pain...!?
Even her, the battle maniac... if she'd been in a fight that left her feeling like this it wouldn't be a fight she'd stand through. She'd end it. Fuck what it did to the other guy.
She finally took in a shaky breath... she couldn't punch this problem away... who knew how many people were on the upper floors? She could shatter everything above her in a well aimed punch if she gave herself the room but... everyone around her... and unknown faces she had yet to save...
Another shaky breath. She closed her teeth. A flash of a grimace... forced into a smile. She held back the water threatening to fill her eyes, and despite a brief quiver in her voice, she spoke with confidence as she held her chin high.
"Heh... N-nearly got ya there...huh...?~"

Blood! Not hers though! What-... what was going on? The screaming and shouting from outside sounded muffled, muted, as if they were all talking from far away and yet she could hear a voice as crystal clear as a drop of water in a cool pond. The voice of a Hero. The voice of her savior. Her throat choked up for a moment. Not from the dust and debris but from the sight of the giant woman above her. Like Atlas holding the world aloft. Three pieces of rebar had struck through her shoulder, a steady stream of glossy crimson pouring from the wounds. Kira was fine. Nothing had touched her, nothing had crushed her. Her eyes scanned her surroundings and she could see the others, coughing but very much alive. Her heart leaped into her throat, tears pouring down her cheeks again. "Thank you..."That's all she could choke out as the guilt pressed down on her chest, making it difficult to breathe, to think. What was she going to do now? She had to run, right? They all had to. But-... Rakujo's voice cut through the relative silence. "Is-... is everyone ok!?" A few affirmations came from around him and his tension relaxed somewhat when Kira finally croaked out a small confirmation. He cursed under his breath as he saw Red Horn's condition, realizing that they were on borrowed time already. It was do or die. Follow her example. Save everyone. He couldn't look at her, he didn't want to even imagine the amount of pain she was in. "...H-how long do we have?"The others all started to protest but he cut them off. "Every moment you waste arguing with me is another one this woman spends in pain. We save everyone we can. No exceptions. Get them out of the building. NOW!" He stood, though he could feel his legs shaking, taking deep breaths of the dust-choked air to steady himself even as the others dashed off to help those that they could. "Thank you... please bear with it... just a little longer. I promise."The full extent of the issue could now be seen from the outside. The entire second floor had collapsed, car and all, onto the front corner of the building. Without Red Horn there to hold it back, it would have collapsed entirely, most likely crushing those below and sending those above plummeting to the ground. The car strained to stay in place but held, somehow. The firefighters and paramedics on the upper floors clung to ruined supports or office equipment to stop from falling. As the dust cleared... there where the lower floor support pillar should be, was a giant of a woman. Blonde hair, extremely muscular... Red Horn. The crowd could see how much she was straining, how much she was hurting... they could see her wounds. The fire chief paused for a moment, just taking in this scene, sweat pouring from his brow. One of his juniors spoke from over his shoulder, his expression stunned and concerned all in one. "Dear god... how much weight is that?" Too much. Even with her adrenaline, none of them were convinced she could hold this for long. Which made every second count. "Get the cranes! Pull that car off of there! We don't have time to be slow anymore, we just have to take the risk!" One of the medical advisors spoke up, beginning to protest that the people trapped in that car could be damaged beyond repair if they were reckless but the fire chief gestured towards Mia, his face red with fury. "That woman is sacrificing EVERYTHING right now to get these people to safety! We don't have TIME!"The crowd screamed in horror and panic as the building had collapsed but with the revelation of Red Horn holding the structure, they grew eerily silent. It was only when they saw her smile... that they began to cheer. Not necessarily a happy cheer, but a grateful one. Some would call out encouragement, others professing thanks. Yet there was still an unease throughout them... how long could she keep this disaster at bay? Just how long could she protect them?

“Don’t… mention it…” Mia let out a slow breath as she continued to force her smile, gritting her teeth as she tried to adjust how her hands were resting… she was almost thankful for the blood. Her red rage was starting to spread quickly from the focus of her pain and it was moving fast for a moment, about to envelop her bicep and crawl up her neck when she almost seemed to hold it back through sheer force of will. Not. Now. You don’t get to do this… you don’t get to turn her into a monster now of ALL FUCKING TIMES! Her brow furrowned, her eyes squeezed shut. As much as she was in pain this expression wasn’t related to the physical trauma she was going through, but just mentally pounding back her own growing urge to burst out of this… she had to remain strong. She had to tough it out, through the agony, through the strain… she wasn’t going to break. Not to the weight on her shoulders, and not to her own fucking body.
She grit her teeth for a moment when it felt like the focus shifted off of her, as much as she wanted to be strong in the face of this even she could admit how intense the pain was and the expressions she made in turn were allowed to shift here and there. The call of asking if everyone was going okay brought out a soft chuckle as she tried to put on a smile, gasping briefly before letting out her staggered words. “J-just dandy chief. Just… dandy…!” She pushed a little harder against the points of contact her hands were making, but the pressure on her shoulder wasn’t easing up. She could feel herself growing fainter by the moment, and though she knew she’d regret it, she tensed the muscles tighter in her shoulder. A sharp, muffled scream pushed out against her tightly held lips, not wanting to concern everyone. Her tightened muscles were stemming the blood flow allowed to seep from her wounds, but the pain felt like it had basically doubled in the same act.
Everything around her was moving in slow motion, a muffled mess and blurred views… did everything get brighter? She could feel a breeze on her back… heh. Lucky her. The wall had collapsed and thankfully the crowd outside was behind her. She wouldn’t be able to put on a smile for them all for as long as she’d have to hold this… she was asked a question right? R-right… time… she kept her voice low. Only they needed to hear this.
“Being honest? I… a few minutes tops.” The agony was clear in each breath she took, her foot slipped an inch to the side and she winced again as the rebar dragged against her muscle fibres again, baring through it with a furrowed brow. She needed to get her words out. “If I can drop to my knee… maybe a few more but… I know from experience if I even give this thing an inch it’s gonna fuck up the floors above so… I dunno how much of an option that is…”
Her breaths were heavy and the world around her muffled again. She could feel them discussing this. The words didn’t process but in her gut she knew some form of debate was coming through amongst the sounds… they had a clock and it was rushing them. Putting people at risk. What could she do though? She wasn’t a literal fucking pillar and this thing… it was deep. Every breath had her feel the jagged metal rub against raw nerves mercilessly. She felt herself growing faint again-FUCK! She needed to keep her muscles tense! Don’t let up! The pain was on the borderline of throwing her into shock, it made her wanna relax, ease hr muscles just to ease the pain, but the more she relaxed the more she bled, and the shorter a window these guys got. Odds are they wouldn’t dig her out quickly enough if she bled out either… bare through it you fucking tool!
She could faintly hear the cheers behind her… but what truly came through was his words. The people in the car…!
“…You got time…”
The word came out in a breath. She felt like she tasted blood on her tongue as she said it. Amongst the chaos, the cheering, she might not have been heard. Maybe someone asked her what she said she couldn’t tell… but she felt it bore repeating all the same. Her hands latched around whatever she was holding onto above her shoulder. She took one, deep, solid breath that flared her nostrils. Her muscles tightened beneath the flesh, from her wrist, down her arms, across her torso and down her. This was gonna hurt. It was gonna hurt for a minute. 5. 10. It could hurt for a fucking hour or a god damn day but-!
“YOU GOT ALL THE TIME YOU NEED!”
The pillar she was supporting shifted upward with her rising body, her red skin shooting like a rapid growth, across her shoulders and her arms before stopping absolutely dead in it’s tracks, summoned and halted in a single instance through sheer force of will. She held a good extra 6 inches on the pillar as she rose into a stronger stance, summoning all that strength she suppressed for fear of what it could do to her… cause if there was ever a moment she needed it, this was it.
She looked to the person who’d been running the show in her stead, her eyes wild and yet somehow in control. Her words were strong, powerful, but certain and firm. “Seconds, minutes, Hours! You got what you need so long as I’m here so get to it. I see any of those guys out of here with one more scrape then they already got and you’re hearing from me! I got this second, and the next, and the next after that, you just worry about the civilians aight!?”
It was a brave decleration, a stupid one perhaps… but her baring through this, or some person she never knew losing a limb, losing a loved one? She’d take this for years if she had to…
Her back straight, her arms red, her eyes forward, unable to see the crowd behind her. she yelled out, pain evident in her face, but a solid confidence in her stance.
Seconds.
Minutes.
Hours.
Bring. It. On.
