Ray was laying on his bed. A dim light flickered behind the window curtain from the school lamp posts. His roommate was fast asleep and breathing steady. Ray leaned upward and pulled his covers off revealing the full set of clothes he had on. His feet slid into his shoes at the edge of his bed. He tiptoed toward the door and slipped into his jacket, keeping a careful eye on his roomie. The doorknob turned with ease and he poked his head out and looked both ways down the empty hallway. "Perfect," he whispered and closed the door behind him, easing it until he heard the gentle click of the mechanism within.
The hall was lit with small lights to guide late-night students to the restrooms. But Ray had other plans. A sign on the wall pointed left to the restrooms and the stairs to go below. On the other wall was a sign that pointed right and towards the community living space. He turned right and strolled down, stopping at each intersection to check around the corners. His foot held steady in the air. The sloppy bumblings of feet shuffled around the corner on the opposite side of the living space. Aa student drug their feet, rubbing their eyes. Their pajamas drug on the ground around their feet. Ray pressed himself against the wall as the student took another path toward the restrooms.
With all clear, he slunk to the window. One that was left ajar by him, earlier that same day. He gripped beneath the window and pulled it open, letting in the cool night air against his chest. He squeezed through the opening and looked down at the five-meter drop to the ground. Water sprang from his hand and pushed the window back down. He was almost there now. He held his hands out like he was going to hold a pole. Water trickled down from between his hands and formed the pole he had envisioned. Jumping onto it, he rode it down like a fireman. His feet touched the grassy lawn and he crouched against the building to get his bearings.
Peaking around one more corner, the courtyard was empty. The lively gazebos were covered in the dark and silence of the night. The one good thing about the school here was how lacks things were on security from time to time. With his hands on his pocket, he walked across the courtyard enjoying the night air, but he had a clear destination.
the girl's dorm was next to theirs. It's only function serving as a wall to hide behind if needed. The crunch of twigs snapped behind him. He whirled around to see two men in security outfits turn the corner. He dove next to a barren gazebo.
"Boring night as usual huh? How's the plan going?" The two men launched into a casual conversation and walked by without so much as a second glance. "Gotta hurry now," he said, and as the guards turned around the girl's dorm once more, he took off to clear the courtyard and headed to the school gates.

She let out a huff as she placed her head against her pillow, it felt like a rough day, her Mother had sent her a letter that explained that she needed to raise her grades, and that they were unable to send her any more money, that she would need to get a job in order to stay in school. She Cursed her family Silently, they wasted so much money on their research and now they were starting to run out of money before they found the results they were after.
The added Stress made it hard to sleep, her mind raced with the things she had to do, the tests that were up and coming and then on top of that the Combat trail that would take place next Semester, she had only managed to get though it because of Ray, Despite hating have to admit it to herself, she had ready dropped the ball at the end and she still hadn’t really managed to redeem herself in her own eyes.
The Clock rolled past curfew and she took a long drawn out sigh, she was not going to sleep well tonight. Swinging up off her bed she approached the window and pushed it open a crack to allow some of the cool evening air to fill her room, placing her hand against her head she leaned her elbow onto the glass of the window and took in some of the fresh air. The Security guards were doing their rounds when she looked down she could see their lights, slowly scanning the area, it was a little ridiculous that they were told given a curfew but she understood their reasoning, they didn’t want to allow them to be running all about, and in the studies it was proven that they got into less trouble when curfew was installed. As the flashlight found her window she gave a slight wave to the security guards as they passed by. Before starting to pull her window shut. Her eyes caught movement in the far side of the Courtyard, and she stepped back and found herself looking at her own reflection, shaking her head she leaned forwards to close the window for the final time but noticed that it had in fact came from outside as she caught the sight of Ray rushing towards the front gates. What was he up to~ she thought to herself as she squinted to see past her reflection she found herself conflicted.
She wanted to know where he was going, but she was also one who followed rules, even the stupid ones. But what if he was going out to do some hero work unauthorized and got in too deep. “ Screw him, who cares” she said aloud leaving her window open just a Crack “ let him get in trouble, see if i care” she said softly as she tossed herself back onto her bed and adjusted so her pillow was under her head, but her mind betrayed her attitude, she cared. . . .
Danica shot up to her feet swiftly, grabbing a black Sweater and clicked her lights off. She still didn’t have a roommate so she didn’t need to worry to much about them ratting her out. She closed her eyes for a moment and Disappeared into black mist and leaked out the crack she had left her window open by, and re materialized on the ground below her window as the guards turned the corner she made a mad dash towards the gates, disappearing into a mist as she got closer to the gates. Slowing her pace in mist form she silently and Stealthily looked for Ray. If he was already gone she would think about returning to her room, after all why should she get in trouble for him sneaking out, when was only here to make sure he didn’t get hurt, not that she should have cared about that either, but then again she was outside now breaking theses rules, clearly she cared a little.

With the gates within sight, he slowed to a jog and then a brisk walk. He took in a few deep breaths of air to settle himself. "Finally," he muttered and looked around once more. The coast was clear behind him, as far as he could tell. He pressed against the last building before the gates. One final guard stood at the lock. The guard gave a quick shake of the gate hinge, more from boredom than any real concern. The rattle scared off a bird in a nearby tree. It flew off, leaving a trail of leaves fluttering to the ground.
Ray crouched down and waited. His hand still against the wall. The guard whistled a solemn tune and trotted along the gateway to the small guard shack. It was at most a ten by ten room. The guard closed the door behind him and flipped on the television. U.A. wasn't known for people breaking in. After all, not many people would risk attacking a superhero compound. The guard kicked up his feet with a donut in his hand and his eyes darting between the security cameras and a tv drama.
With a small window of opportunity, the student picked up a rock and compressed water around it. The rock zipped out from the pressure of the water and smacked into the far side of the wall over the shack. The guard bumbled up to his feet and lurched out to check. Ray eased forward to the wall that led outside the school grounds. It was now or never. Once up and over...he'd be a rule breaker.
Water pooled around his feet when a dark shadow cast out in his peripheral vision. Whirling his head around he squinted to make sense of what it could be. A bead of sweat rolling onto his forehead. had he been caught by a teacher? Was his plan ruined before it could even get started? Water had built up beneath his heel and lifted it only an inch. A careful eye and one that knew him well could tell it was meant to carry him upward.
He waited a moment and then shrugged, turning to face the gate once more and ready to geyser himself over to the other side. Only hesitant as it may gather some attention.

The sudden sound of the Rock Caught Danica’s attention as well, as she started to thin herself out and of Transparent she would watch from her Liquefied state shifting slowly through the fence awaiting ray on the other side, she didn’t have much of a hesitant in breaking the rules this once if it stopped Ray from doing something that could result in him getting injured. She would wait on the other side for him, he seemed to be getting ready to jump over or something, but whatever it was he had to be quick or he was going to get caught. . . Part of her kind of wanted to get him caught so that he would be safe, but if she could convince him not to do anything to Stupid then she could rest better, she didn’t want to get him in trouble but she didn’t want him going at all. ~~~ If and when Ray would Launch over the wall Danica would Reappear right in front of him, her hands gripping both sleeves of his jacket, “ do that ball thing” she would Whisper before disappearing into a mist again, hoping that he got the hint, she aimed to use that invisibility bubble trick they had in the combat trial, the issue was it did take a lot out of her and she was kind of worn out to start with, that and the trail, of water that they would likely leave behind, that would be a sure fire way to get caught, though they would still have to prove it happened after Curfew, and she wasn’t at all aware of what her mist might look like through a security Camera.
If he complied she would reform once they were out of direct line of sight, much like before after getting out of the form she would be breathing heavily and seem a light headed, needing to support herself with the closest thing, which would likely be Rays arm, Her Finger nails digging in slightly if he didn’t stop her or dodge her reach out for assistance.

With a final look around to make sure things were safe, he smirked and burst over the wall with a little geyser of water. He stepped over the top of the fence and dropped the rest of the way down. He landed in a squat and the remaining water drizzled down around him.
"What the," he said and lost his footing. Danica's hands on his jacket stopped him from falling backward into the fence and he felt a surge of warmth through him for a brief moment, being so close to her. "The ball...yeah," quickly he waved his hands overhead and they were both surrounded by a ball of water. The water turned a misty dark color and he shook his head. He didn't know how she found him or why she was helping him but he was glad she was there.
"Thanks," he whispered through a smile and pushed the water ball vehicle across the ground with his quirk and sent them trailing away from the cameras and the school grounds. Once they were away, she reformed and Ray dismissed the ball of water. "Hey are you," He began to reach for her, but her hands found his arm first. Her nails dug into his arm, "uh," his mouth ran a little dry but it would be a lie to say he wasn't a little happy that she wasn't scolding him anymore at least for now and was even relying on him a bit. But it was something he'd never say aloud. He put his hand on top of hers.
"You all right, Dani? I know that move takes it out of you?"He remembered she didn't like that name but he tried to sneak it in where he could. Once she had recovered enough to speak and catch her breath. "How did you even find me out here," the school grounds behind them were still oblivious to the rogue students that had escaped its confines.
"You know you could get into big trouble being out here with me. Not that I'm complaining about the company."

Danica Vanished into mist after she gave him a demand. His Surprised reaction to her sudden appearance was to be expected. With the Nearly invisible ball of water they moved away from the gates and to a spot that was free from onlookers and cameras. After she reappeared, she felt faint. She reached out with her fingernails at the ready, grasping onto his arm she felt her eyes roll back slightly like a giant head rush. Everything felt like it was spinning, and she was growing fainter. Before the world suddenly felt solid and she managed to not faint from exhaustion on the spot. His hands felt warm in comparison to her body temperature.
Her breathing was Sharp and quick, doing everything in her lungs power to catch up on the breaths she missed. The sound of Ray’s voice softly flooded her ears. What he said didn’t make sense to her at the moment, but she was stabilizing.
After a moment she was able to answer, through still semi ragged breaths “I seen you.” She would stop to breath in deeply. “go past my dorm room” She would unclench her fingernails from Rays’ arm. Still using him to support herself a bit, she felt a little wabbly still “and I wasn’t sure if you were going to stay safe.” She offered out Her body was Recovering now and she was able to finally let go of Rays arms.
Breaking away from being so close to Ray she would cross her arms and Respond to his last statement. “You could get in trouble, but I was more worried you might sneak off to do something stupid” she reasoned in her more aggressive tone. She turned and her finger pointed directly at him “ your going to get me in trouble unless you sneak back now” she scolded. No one had seen them, that she knew about and if they snuck back in now they could call it a night and they could both stay out of trouble. “Why are you even out here?” she asked in a Low hiss to avoid raising her voice.

It wasn't something he expected to see. Danica in such a faint and off balance state. And he knew it wasn't a side that she wanted others to see. But he couldn't stop himself from placing his hand on hers to try and ease whatever fatigue washed over her, even if it mean't a stern look later. It all reminded him of her condition at the exercise. Leaned against the wall. They were both broken and beaten back then. And just like then, he expected her to bounce back.
"Oh. I guess I'm not as sneaky as I'd like," he looked back towards the campus grounds and rubbed the back of his head. As her hands left his arm he held hers for a brief moment of added support until her legs were steady.
"So you were worried about me then?" He said with a sly smile. He coked a borw as she broke away, he knew it was coming now, when she crossed her arms. "Me do something stupid? I would never," he shrugged it off with a grin and put his hands back in his pockets.
His eyes widened when she pointed her finger at his face. "Oh" He tilted his head to the side around it to look at her clearly. "Does that mean you're coming with me?"
He ducked under her arm and slid out beside her to take a step past her. "Come on. Don't you ever get bored just staying all night at campus. Unable to really do anything or see the city at night?"
"I heard there was an old temple that people have been shying away from at night. They say there are strange ounds coming from it at nigth and the staff stopped working there after 10pm. Kinda interesting right?" The street they were in was dimly lit. People strolled back and forth a few blocks down between convenience stores.
"It's only a few minutes walk away from here," he nodded his head down the street toward a small turn off, that led to a more wooded trail. The temple Ray mentioned was a source of some rumors around the town nearby. Even some of the upperclassmen whispered about it. Mostly just to spoke people. But it caught Ray's attention and he turned away from Dani and began to walk. He only took a few steps when he looked back over his shoulder, "If we hurry we'll be back in no time." He tried to play it cool but wondered if she would agree or not.

After she managed to get a few breaths in and started to explain why she was there, Ray offhandedly commented that he wasn’t as a sneaky as he thought. Which just caused her to shake her head. It was pretty clear at this point she wasn’t overly happy with how things were going.
Things went from not great to worst as he pointed out and used her own words against her. The sly Smirk was not unnoticed but at the current time she lacked the strength to even stand on her own, or else she might have made a swing at him. Her face turned redder, a little different from just exhaustion and embarrassment, it seemed to be a bit of a combination of a few things. She Questioned his motives and said she didn’t want him to do something stupid. And the next thing out of his mouth might as well have been ~ but I am stupid~ she shook her head side to side as she turned to look and make sure that they were still in the clear.
It looked like no one was onto them yet, but she wasn’t sure how much trouble they would get into, this was her first time break the rules on purpose. She Crooked a finger in his direction and told him that she was going to get in trouble because of him, and he seemed to take it as she was going with him. Her mad expression shifted to confusion for a second and then to Frustration as she motioned both hands out in front of her, her fingers outstretched wide as she seemed to shift back into anger. “ARE you not listening to a word I’m saying?” she asked viciously at the lower tone having to soften her voice after she started... Still very much frustrated with his answer. “come with you? I should report you into the guards and go back to my room” she said pointing to the wall they were behind where the guard hut was directed. Her pointing finger Swung back in Ray’s direction but he swooped under her arm as she looked away and was walking away. She placed her hands on the top of her own head in a hug like fashion as she tried to vent out the frustration, it was like talking to a wall.
He reasoned with her and spoke as he walked away from her. Danica’s eyes lit up with Anger Instantly. She would Suddenly Vanish reappearing in front of Ray again “ We. I~ . . .“ She frustratedly stammered don’t walk away from me and that is the Stupidest things I’ve heard yet~ “Said her voice rising slightly, but suddenly hushed again as she turned to look towards the school grounds. It had felt so wrong to even go this far away. “ the rules are for our protection” she stated very matter of fact.
But he words seemed to fall on deaf ears as he continued to talk about the temple. Danica shook her head, “ No that’s dumb, lets go back before we get caught. We can get back in and find a spot somewhere in the school grounds.” Her Tone seemed to lose its anger as it hinted on a more frightful note. The fear of breaking the rules, the thought that she could be kicked out of the school her parents needed her to go through. How if she went and they were in over their head there was no back up. Hell, no one would even know where they had gone. But this didn’t seem to either concern Ray or he hadn’t thought that far ahead.” Please” She pleaded now in a complete switch of temperament. “how about we investigate the temple when we are allowed out and then see if its worth our time or if its just a rumor.” She quickened her pace a few steps and swung back out on front of Ray as he nodded down the street saying it was only a few minutes away.
Danica quickly brushed her face with her sleeve sweeping any tears that were starting to swell in her eyes. “ please I cant get caught out here.” She said again lastly her ferocity now seemed to be completely absent and she was resorting to pleading.

He titlted his head as Dani's face flushed with red. Another side of her that he never expected to see, no matter what reason had caused it. Ray's heel barely left the ground when he froze at her sudden burst of anger. Of course he heard what she was saying, but he couldn't believe someone that had been so proud on the battle fields would be so easily confined to the walls of the dorm. But then she did also hold herself as a good student, all aside from this reckless moment they shared outside the schood grounds. He could feel her anger but she had yet to leave him, and he ducked beneath her finger as it swung back at him.
"You would have reported me already. You're saying there isn't the smallest part of you tat wants to go," he said.
"Whoa," he said as he stumbled, trying not to knock into her. The black mist whispng away from her sudden appearance. He was going to make a joke about her using her quirk outside of school again but the furious look in her eye detoured that thought. The 'we' that she began her sentence with, caught his attention more than what actually followed. He kept his pace onward though, despite her protests and informed her about the mysteries of the temple. That is, until she whipped around in front of him once more. Although the offer of finding a spot on school grounds slowed his pace. Was she offering to spend time together? "It may be dumb but you're still walking with me," he teased before things got serious once more.
He gave a small sigh. Her suggestion was sensible but the temple was only an excuse for him to feel like he was free to walk around again. Once her sleeve brushed across her face, Ray's heart sunk, seeing what turmoil he had put her in. He didn't know why she wouldn't just leave him to his own if she was so worried about being caught. He stepped his foot on the ground and sent a small geyser of water to erupt behind her. The water splashed above them and gently sprinked down. "Sorry, thought I saw something above your head," he replied but it was a lie. He just wanted to give her a reason to hide away her tears.
"Alright. You win.I can't have you getting in trouble on my account. You know you're more stubborn than I am," he said with a smile and took her hand giving it a brief tug, gesturing for them to walk back toward the school before letting it go just as quickly. "Come on. Let's go find a nice spot back on campus. I still intend on enjoying the night air a bit longer. Deal?"
Regardless of her answer of spending time together, he started walking back as they were going to head back regardless. As they reached the gate once more, the guard was sleeping at his post. "When I was at home. Things were so different. I trained with my parents. No one knew about my quirk. Not really. I could go out at night. Not long you know. But..just enough. See a festival at night or just stop by the grocery. Guess I just missed home," he spoke with his eyes gazing toward the night sky.
He stepped his foot on the ground and made a ladder out of water, "After you."

She hated feeling this vulnerable, the lack of safety to run and hid to, of course she cared, they had gone through quite a bit between the combat training and then the internship, it wasn’t like she could just let him leave without regard for his safety, beloving full heartedly that he had no regard for it himself. She suggested aloud that she should report him, but he was too smart for her, as he poked holes in her empty threat, although it didn’t really click in the moment but he seemed to know a great deal about her too, of course she wanted to go, but the risk was too great for her, if she didn’t pass this year and continue to becoming a hero, she would be disowned, disgraced and devastated.
She tried everything she could think of short of using force to stop him, but she wasn’t about to do something possibly worse to stop him from leaving, the penalty for attacking another student was far more dire then leaving curfew. She tried to coax him to stay in the school grounds and he slowed his pace for but a moment before tossing her naïve and panicked insults back at her. She could not dispute his logic; she was in fact still following but she was growing more and more furious. But it was nothing but a front, she hurt inside, but she knew only how to be outraged. The anger, rage and fury melted away as her hollow threats fell on seemingly deaf ears and she felt an ever-sinking feeling in her stomach. She didn’t break the rules, she was going to be a hero and heroes had to be better than the average person, their lives under constant watch and evaluation.
The tear welled up quicker then she could react, but she managed to sweep them away with her sleeve, she felt so exposed and defenseless to what was happening, she clearly cared. But she felt like there was nothing going to sway Ray from his goal. In a strange way she admired his sense of adventure but was so deeply scared of the consequences. Maybe he was already a far better hero then she could hope to be, not being afraid to go against the rules when they were stupid. Danica didn’t even believe the things she said, they were a year from being released as heroes or sidekicks and they were confined to a room at night because of their own safety? What was out there that they were not being prepared for?
Water moved quick in the darkness, it was already nearly above her before her eyes had even widened in surprise, forcing a few tears to drop as her eyes pulled the tear duct tight ringing it out from the tears that were already made. ~had he swung at her? She was so caught off guard she couldn’t help but look at the spot the water plunged back down, her back turned to Ray. It didn’t make sense, if he wanted to hit her, he would have, she had watched the accuracy he had demonstrated in the combat training. It was his words that drew her attention out of the disbelief.
His words melted away her worry, she felt the relief and the feeling of defeat wash away. She rubbed her eyes free of any tears that could possibly remain, not even aware that he had tried to allow her the moment to pull herself together. He commented about how she was more stubborn then he was, her lips curled to a slight smirk, not because she had won but because he was quite stubborn himself, and if he was this frustrating to deal with she could only imagine how hard to deal with she was. Before she knew it her hand had found his and he lead her back towards the school. She didn’t not like the feeling of his hand in her own, it was somehow warmer than she expected but also colder, it was a feeling that was hard to describe. His suggestion rung out loud in the night air, the silence of the street ate all background sound, his request was simple and she nodded in agreement, still a little too broken up to speak without a shaky voice she opted not to speak until she could fully gather herself from the mess she had unravelled into.
They slipped past the guards again rather easily, seemingly they had dozed off in the monotony of their shift, once they were past Ray started to confide in her, telling her a bit about his life back in America, his eyes looked towards the heavens and she looked up to share in the moment, the stars were still hard to see because of the light pollution, she also missed home. It was not easy being alone in a new place with so heavy of expectations. In this moment she had even forgot to let his hand go, just simply letting this be as they were in this moment, her voice didn’t feel like it had the shake to it, that it had only moments ago. “things are so very different now, I worry that they will never return to what they were once” she said still looking up “ but I don’t even know if that’s something I would want.” She said in all honesty, thought it would be hard to understand the context of what she truly meant.
After a moment of reflecting on their lives Ray stepped forwards and created a ladder of water. And allowed her to go first. She would let go of his hand, and in that moment realized she had let him hold her hand for so much longer then she intended. And attempted to step onto the ladder, unsure if she could use his ladder like he could, or would she just splash through it. She would test the water placing her hand on the rung of the ladder and then applying more and more weight to see if would hold before attempting to climb it.

She looked down at the water that plummeted back into the dirt behind her. Her long dark hair ony slightly dampened by it and flowing down her back still. He could almost feel the a tug in the back of his mind to move closer to her, but his feet stayed still. His hands snugged in his pockets until she turned to face him again. This time with a smirk on her face as she wipped away the remaining tears. He didn't think she was the type for heartfelt moments or to get sweept up in her more sentimental emotions, but it seems even with what he did know about her, there was much more left to discover. Perhaps they could even learn about one another if they hadn't always been so stubborn.
You could barely feel the callous on her hands from years of bokken practice. If you didn't know she swung a wepon it may have even gone unnoticed. Thinking about it only made the realization that she hadn't pulled away from him like he thought she would have, more apparent. Maybe she was softening up to him after all. Or maybe he could just notice it better now that he was listening.
The guards were as inept as ever and they moved by them with ease. Ray grinned at the thought of being able to sneak around more now that he knew it was easier. Then again, he stole a quick glance back at Dani, he wouldn't want her scolding him again for it.
He peaked out of the corner of his eye as she spoke a heavy hearted reply. Seems she may be running away from some things too. "I don't think it's possible for them to return. Not after coming this far. Like twigs caught in the flow of the river. Just have to ride it out...unless we happen to stuble upon airfare back. But even then, maybe you're right. Who knows what returning to that life would be like."
"There something you don't want to go back to? I imagine even if you wanted to, it'd be hard to now though," he asked, still holding her hand in his. He let her hand go as the ladder made of water appeared. He leaned his arm on the railing and waited as she tested the durability of it.
"Should be as hard as concrete. Don't worry,I won't let you fall through. Actually, I bet." He stood up on the rung right behind her and grabbed onto the railing. With a deep breath he closed his eyes and the water pulled them up like a conveyer built instead of needing to climb it.
"That's better, although now that I think about it, you probably could have just shadow teleported to the other side," he laughed quietly.
The ground was cold on campus. Lights stil dark and even more flickered out. The area was guard free for now. "Maybe there," he pointed towards a fire escape stairwell that led to the top of one of the buildings.
"Should be safe and out of sight, he said. The fire escape was connected to a building right next to the girsl dorm so she could make a hasty return if needed. If she agree, Ray would make his way over to it.
"Hey Dani, so what does it feel like when you turn into a mist?"
