APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Cid is a well-built young man with a long, blue mohawk that is shaved on the sides. His waist is fairly thin compared to his chest. As proportions go, Cid is very top heavy with much more muscle on his back, shoulders and chest while his lower body is much more lean in comparison. His eyebrows are also blue but his eyelashes are black which are hard to see because of how short they are. His complexion is slightly tan with fairly sallow skin. His skin tans very easily due to his Australian roots. He stands fairly tall even for a 16 year old at 5’10 thanks to his Australian genes also. His eyes seem to be the only thing the boy inherited from his mother who also has Teal like eyes which are much rounder than his fathers. They differ slightly though as Cid's eyes are a darker teal with a red segment in the center of the pupil. Cid’s choice of clothing is a mix between the two cultures with a slight favoritism to the brighter colourful styles of Japanese clothes. That being said he does enjoy the baggier and more casual and loose Australian clothes.

Personality:
Growing up in rural Australia Cid was fairly deprived of many friends. He did go to school but his class had less than 5 people and the school in general had just under 50 people. With such a limited amount of people to talk with, the young boy often jumped at the chance to meet new friends. Before he knew it everyone was calling him the friendliest kid around. His reasons weren’t totally to make new friends though. It was mainly out of boredom and wanting something interesting to happen. This selfish behaviour followed him throughout his childhood although he can usually coat it as something else. Usually with aid from his goofier side. Being so friendly makes Cid a natural jokester. It can sometimes dip into more harsher banter at someone's expense but even he knows when to cut it out. In fact he is often the one to tell others to knock it off. With a younger sister who was often picked on for her speech, it’s second nature for Cid to step his foot in, even when it’s not wanted or hypocritical of him to do so.
All in all Cid sees himself as a good guy with a bit of a cheeky side. He tries to not let it go too far but it’s hard for him to stop. At the very least he’s honest and prefers it when others are the same with him. He has a slight temper too when things don’t go his way or he doesn’t get what he wants although most commonly he’ll lose his cool if someone is being mistreated. Cid wears his heart on his sleeve and it’s difficult for him to stay level headed all the time, often leading to rash decisions that put him in the middle of a situation he has no place being in. It really doesn’t help when he can’t recall what even led him there in the first place since all he sees himself as doing is helping. Cid is also pretty bad when it comes to rules. While for the most part he is good at keeping them, he’s more than willing to bend them for himself and often let’s others by too. Unless it’s in games, then he’s pretty much the worst stickler for rules and is willing to call out friend or foe for breaking them.
Despite being rather aggressive in places, Cid is a down to earth fellow and is fun to be around. Constantly laugh and joking is just in his nature and it really does take some effort to offend him on a subject. Even though he can disagree with opinions he’s fine with letting people have them. He’ll still call them wrong or stupid but at the end of the day he will let bygons be bygons and never hold it against anyone, so long as it isn’t anything serious.

HISTORY
Cid was born in the upside down, spider infested hell (Yes both figuratively and literally in terms of heat) known as Australia. Most of his early childhood was spent in Australia with his father’s family. Among them were his grandparents and quite a few aunts and uncles who all had a hand in raising Cid and his younger sister. Being the oldest Cid always saw himself as the more mature figure and would always try to act much more grown up. For example he would always help his dad and his brothers whenever he got the chance, whether it be with manual work in the fields or with the cars to more technical work like mapping out piping, Cid was there to lend a hand, even if he wasn’t particularly wanted.
One thing at the very least he was very welcome to do was try to help his little sister, Jessica which he nicknamed Jiji for having difficulty with pronouncing the name himself. Jiji was born deaf and as a result had a very tough time with other kids and even tried to get her feelings across. So Cid made it his mission to try and teach her the basics like any good older sibling would do. His mother was a school primary school teacher and pretty much never left their side. Originally hailing from Japan, Cid’s mother was very protective and was always wary of strangers and leaving her kids alone. With such wide open spaces and various critters that could snatch them up one couldn’t blame her. It made it difficult for her when Cid was overly friendly too, often putting her on edge but his father always fought in his corner to let the lad socialize as it would help him later in life. His Father worked in the mines and quarries around where they lived and whenever he was off work he often went about doing some handiwork for his own house or for the neighbours. Among the community Cid’s family were very respected as both his mother and father were integral parts to the community and Cid was very happy with them. Their community was small and tight knit, and had very traditional values. Cid’s father was no exception having lived there all his life and his views were as old as the hills. Simply put, he was a quirkist as was the rest of the community.
Granted while they were quirkist, they were not extremists. The people just favored normies who had no strange attributes associated with them. Not knowing any better Cid also adopted this outlook seeing it as the grown up thing to do. So whenever he did see anyone with a quirk that altered their appearance, he would be quick to call attention to it and joke about it. This was probably the height of his own understanding of Quirkism, that it was more of a joke like how someone could be made fun of for their weight or relationship status. His mother though was the only person to actively scold Cid and his sister for this sort of behaviour despite what their father would say in response to it. So when Cid’s own quirk manifested it certainly didn’t end well.
On a typically hot day, Cid asked to come to work with his dad. Lucky for the boy it was to take your son to work day! Or so he was told. In actuality many of the other men his father worked would take their kids to the place to show them around and Cid asked enough that maybe if his father gave in he’d stop. So off they went! As soon as they got their protective gear on, Cid felt some pressure in his eyes. His dad said it was normal and there were a few other fellas that needed goggles to deal with all the vapour and dust under the ground and they’d get a spare pair off someone later. Nodding and following along, Cid trusted his father was right since he hadn’t led him astray before. Still, as he was shown men digging, drilling and picking away at the various veins of ore, Cid’s eyes got increasingly more agitated to the point where he started seeing red. It had such an effect on the boy that he had to sit down and shut his eyes tight to try and quell the feeling that was now causing him a migraine. With sympathetic his father did also seem rather disappointed that his son wasn’t the best suited to work underground. Regardless of that he had to leave his son there to go get one of the Health and Safety officers to record the incident as well as get some cool water and painkillers for his son. After a while, with his eyes shut, Cid felt his headache dissipate somewhat. The vibrations of the various machines and metal smashing against rock even seemed comforting, the shockwaves seemingly crawling all over his skin and back into the ground. Before he knew it Cid was half asleep and when he came to his father was standing above him with a look of pure shock and horror. Trying to stand up Cid realied his hi-vis was snagged on the ground and tried to pull it up. When he did his whole arm hurt. Opening his eyes he saw that it wasn’t just his clothes caught but his entire arm was caught in the ground itself. Through his best efforts Cid wasn’t able to pull his arm free. Instead of calling someone with a quirk to help or even looking for advice on how to safely extract his son from the ground, Cid’s father took a drill and began to dig into the ground to free his son. While this did work, Almost all of Cid’s left arm was covered in deep cuts from how the rocks and stones broke and shredded his skin as the drill came down. Once he was out and his eyes were open, Cid looked to his father only to see he was not the same man. He had changed seeing what his son had become and despite their flesh and blood, couldn’t quite grasp the concept.
The incident changed the whole family dynamic to the point where there was talk of disowning the boy. Naturally this was a major extreme; neither of his parents were comfortable, not even his father. Even though he could never look at his son with the same love he had before the boy was still his son. So a compromise was made. One that would cause a lot less drama in their community and with his father’s family. Cid would be sent with his mother’s side of the family in Japan for the foreseeable future. Without much choice in the matter Cid had to follow through. The situation was very strange for many reasons. It wasn’t so much being sent away as it was going to see family he hadn’t even heard about. The best way he could look at the situation was that he was just transferring and staying with a guest family. Once he did arrive, the stark contrast he saw in Japan compared to Australia was palpable. Firstly the weather was a welcome change. The coolness was incredibly refreshing as was the abundance of people rather than the same faces he had known all his life in his own little community. The biggest change however was the difference in how people treated quirks. Granted some were still quirkist but people with quirks got to become heroes? That seemed like such an alien idea to Cid to the point where he didn’t quite believe it. Still, his father’s teachings remained with him and he at first didn’t want to explore any ideas of using his own quirk. For now he wanted to keep it hidden as best he could which was rather easy. The only trouble he had was constantly hiding his eyes which had now gotten a red dot in the center of his pupil. Other than shades it was difficult to hide them but he made do since it was barely noticeable.
Cid’s Japanese side of the family now were far more accepting of the boy and incredibly excited to meet him and hear how his mother and sister were doing. As it turned out, Cid’s mother came from a family of Quirkers but she happened to be born without one. One thing led to another and without being told of the details himself, Cid’s mother left Japan with Cid’s father. Some years after, shortly after he was born in fact she reached out to her family and is the main reason why they were so accepting in taking Cid into their home. While in their care, they taught Cid Japanese on top of his normal schooling as well as some more casual and natural ways of speaking the language rather than the rougher direct english to japanese translations. On top of everything else, they got the boy comfortable with his quirk to the point where Cid applied to enroll in U.A. Somehow, he was accepted and joined the school as a first year.
