Her mother always taught her one thing. Play stupid. Don't put all the cards on the table. You never know when you need your hand later. She was here to find out more about her heritage? Not really. She couldn't tell two complete strangers why she was truly here. What was she going to say? 'Oh hey, guys. I am here to be the sidekick to the Informant.' Tobias-sama's work needed to be kept secret, which in turn means she needed to keep that part a secret. The last thing she needed to do was blab off to people of what she truly did.
She rather played the part of the blonde ditzy from America than to let them know why she was here. Well, except for the whole being attack by the mutated seagulls thing. It came with the job. "I'll do that," Selena said with a smile towards Kasey. "I'm pretty sure there is something I could find here." She got a small feeling that they were not too into this conversation, so she decided to change gears. "I am also here to advance my studies a little more as well. I wanted to major in Psychology, but America didn't have too many good programs. I heard there was plenty here." She took another bite of her ice-cream, knowing part of it was a lie. She was here to advance in law enforcement and criminal investigation. She would not have gotten that in America. But here, there was... somewhat of a better opportunity. "So what do you guys do for a living if I may ask?" she said with a smile.

Kasey spoke up and told the girl to play dumb tourist whatever and the girl, Selena said that she should do that indeed. It seemed both G and Kasey struggled with this conversation, so Selena changed subject. She said that she is here to advance her studies, in Psychology. But America doesnt have good programs. G looked at her as he ate his ice cream. He doubted America, the ENTIRE United States would lack a suitable psychology thing. He figured she came cuz of UA. Everyone he met who came to Japan, came to be in UA. The Hero Program. Thats the only thing Japan had the edge on, if you were to ask him.
She then asked what do they do for a living. G replied as that was something he would and could answer "I own a Gym in Musutafu. Well, co own is more like it. And I work there as a trainer or a self proclaimed Gym Leader" he told her. Of course he wasnt gonna be dumb to say Vigilante. But what he said wasnt a lie. He DID work in a Gym. As a civillian. Luckily he isnt one of those people who is a Vigilante 24/7. He had a life outside of fighting crime.

Either she was pretending to lost in her ideas, or really was, didn't concern her. She didn't. Various people centered their lives around random trivial matters. From a man who made his entire being about wearing a white suit, or another girl whose identity was focused on the hat she wore, people were strange. This woman, be it truth or an act, was no different. But the manner of bringing up ones own ethnic background was a strange matter. Like telling someone your were from Kanto, or Gumbai. Why did that matter? You were still Japanese, why did it matter what part of Japan you came from? Was it that important to bring up several times in conversation? Unless you were trying to bait someone into talking about it. Sadly, neither G or Kasey would be those fish. With the mention of a study program, it was strange. Given his lack of words, Kasey assumed he shared her ideals. The only reason people came to Japan was to make a name for themselves as a hero, or a criminal, or something related to quirk. If she wasn't going to mention about the effects of quirks having a relationship to certain people's mental state, then it was all hearsay. Mentioning it now would just be as it were, a solidification of her theory. While G told his form of the truth, it wasn't wrong, but it wasn't everything. "Freelancing mostly." Kasey answered. There was always an angle to play. Neither side wanted to give in. She would have no idea of the dynamic, of a hero, a vigilante and a criminal. But, for now she played her cards, letting G take his lead for the both of them. "I guess my field has become mostly odd jobs, and hard labor." She would narrow her eyes in a false thought. A council within her mind. "Warehouses mostly."~ Word Count: 315 ~ |

Selena smiled at the two. "A gym you say?" Selena said in thought. "I might have to stop there when I get the chance. Been looking for a place to get back into shape at." She turned to Kasey. "Freelancing doesn't sound like a bad idea. You get to meet all kinds of people and work in different places. You must be a jack-of-all-trades type of girl. Nice." New York had plenty of those people. Ones who could do multiple jobs at the same time and still make a living. It was an uncommon thing there. Apparently the same could be said for Japan.
"I was hoping to pick up a small job for college," she continued looking out into the ocean. "Most of the colleges don't take you in if you have a quirk." She shrugged at the sad idea. "But it happens. You just got keep going right?" Man, she was grasping at straws. Maybe she wasn't as good at the whole conversation thing as she thought. Where was Desmoshi when you need him? "So, if you guys don't mind me asking," Selena said, looking at the two of them. Selena felt like this conversation was becoming more dead by the minute. If she didn't know any better, either the two didn't want to talk to her or they knew each other.

Selena said she might stop there when she gets the chance as she's been looking to get in shape. After which she turned to Kasey and spoke how freelancing doesnt sound bad at all. Because then she gets to meet all kinds of people and work in different places. He didnt mix in that convo when Selena and Kasey chatted
She said she was hoping to pick up a small job for college as she looked into the ocean. G raised a brow when she said most colleges dont take you in if you have a Quirk. G didnt wanna question her as she changed the subject anyway as she literally shrugged that conversation away. Thus she went to ask something. G listened in carefully. And then she just asked if they were quirkers "You already saw my Quirk" he answered. Goliath DID eat her food that fell out of her basket and she saw Striker also catch some of the food before putting it on a sandy beach. He dismissed both summons. Selena surely saw this. G looked beside him and around him, but didnt see Goliath as he got dismissed as soon as G stepped out of the sea. Striker was dismissed even before that. Was there a bug quirker on the horizon?

The staff remained at her side. The polished ivory that had been her crutch for thus long. Did the girl just assume it was a prop and not an extension of her being? Or was this all leading questions? With the mention of his gym, she dared not mention her frequency. With it, she would most likely arrive with suspicion or curiosity. Her mind danced around all of the possibilities. When had she, in her lifetime, met someone who didn't play an angle of some kind? Either, she too shared the likeness kinship to the dark of the shadows, or she had fought to clean up the underbelly of Japan. Or was she a shared idealist like he was, in their own sense of justice? For a moment, she missed how it used to be. She missed being at his side. She missed the late night conversations over a few bottles of booze. That was what felt like forever ago. They were different people now. He had a family. She wasn't apart of that anymore. Her mind drifted away from all of the words exchanged and reminisced in the past. She had learned a bit of everything, but how much of each was irrelevant. She could have easily asked Kasey what her preferences were, but her answer would yield nothing else new. With the mention of quirk discrimination, Kasey couldn't help but nod. College, sure. Most were a liability. Without a bit of coverage on their end, not just on property damage but to push the liability on someone else, well, why would they risk that? It didn't matter if you had a brilliant mind, if you could set the place on fire, you were a hazard. "It's just the new reality for us." she would say. Agreeing with her own thoughts. She simply leaned out on the staff a bit, her eyes darting at the man for a bit before answering herself. "This staff and my body are part of it." She tilted her head, showing the horns that would peek from her hair. Even now, it wasn't clear why they existed, or why she and her sister shared them, despite only one of their quirks being related to their own bodies. She looked over at G. "Though, I don't imagine you still have Little Bones." A nervous smile, a creature she had held onto in the back of her mind. It was so weak, frail, and small. It was what Kasey had become. ~ Word Count: 415 ~ |

The two explained how what they quirk was... to some degree. It was like talking to two brick walls with no windows or doors. Then again she was very open either. She could have told them she was a sidekick. But the Informant's work had to remain top secret, and that included her as well. She thought this would go a little bit smoother, to be honest. However, the white-haired man looked he didn't want to talk to anyone, and she felt like every answer she said to him was kind of the wrong one. And as for Kasey, it seemed that she and the man had met before, or maybe just didn't want to be here.
She really was not good at talking to people. She looked out to the ocean, wondering if coming to Japan was a mistake after all. Selena took a deep breath before throwing the napkin she used for her ice-cream cone into her bag. "You know," Selena said quietly, "if I am bothering you two, I can go ahead and leave." She didn't want to be in the way or force anyone into a conversation they did not want to be in. No need to keep them here any longer and waste their time.

Kasey gave her answer and then turned to look at G. She mentioned Bones, it was a form of Goliath or a seperate spirit animal, one that was helpless. G answered "Little Bones is here" he put his hand over his chest. That lost little spirit was in his heart. It was no longer active as G wasnt a broken man anymore. He told then Kasey "I will never forget the lil critter. Even if so much has past. He still means something to me, yknow?"
G then turned to face Selena. He might've sent some bad vibes, he wasnt aware of. He wondered what to say or do as he was a bit of loss for words "I mean... It'd be rude to leave after you got us ice cream. Im just not much of a talker. Im not particularly good at it. It seems" he answered. He looked at the two girls. Well, he knew Kasey wasnt much of a talker. But he didnt know Selena at all. They literally just met and spent a few moments together. So what does he do to socialize? Maybe if he asks a question "Tell me about America. I havent been there in like... 20 ish years or so" Maybe ask something she was comfy with. This could do?

He wasn't forgotten. A piece of him still remained within his soul, and locked away within his heart. It was sweet. It was a part of him, even if it was an aspect that lasted very little. Even if it took a form to reach out to a comforting shape, she wished that a part of herself, her life could be cherished the same. Maybe she had looked at it all wrong. Maybe he didn't resent her. Maybe it was her who projected these feelings to make it his own. Maybe he missed what they used to be. But with their lives now, it was a life they could never have again. But, maybe they didn't need the same thing they had before. Maybe they needed something new. She wasn't a sister anymore. But did that mean she couldn't be a friend? After the woman spoke, it wasn't until then that Kasey had gotten a grasp on what she had caused. Was it her own suspicions, her mood that had seeped into the aura around them? Was this a new effect of her quirk? Or was it just a trait of her personality? Maybe she was just keen and receptive to it all. She really only had herself to blame. "Sorry." she would say, only to add onto him confirming his lack of skill in conversation. They had been so guarded. There was so many secrets, but maybe it was time to be honest. "America is a strange place." she would say, "each state is like a different country. Much unlike the regions here." Perhaps it was a bad time to mention her newest business venture. But, she owed the girl at least that much. Maybe it was better to leave things vague. "Well, in any case, I'm rather glad I've returned to Japan after all this time."~ Word Count: 308 ~ |

Selena gave a small sigh at the two apologizing. It actually kind of genuine and she did understand how difficult it was to attempt a conversation with strangers. Heck, she was attempting that right now. "It's all good," Selena said with a small smile. "I still have trouble with knowing if I am bothering people or not. I guess I got some things to work on still." She had always been somewhat afraid of how people would think of her. Most of her military academy classmates picked on her for believing the Informant existed. But she was resolute in that belief and it actually came to fruition when she met the lava golem for the first time. But that was different when came to actually talk to people. Carrying a conversation, finding the right words to say. It just felt forced sometimes and awkward. Selena understood how they felt. Being a stranger in a different world. And for a moment... It kind of made her feel homesick.
Her thoughts were broken away with the question of how was America followed by Kasey's comment on how different each state was. "True," Selena nodded. "Each state has a different set of rules when it comes to quirk users. Some are lax while others seem a bit harsh. So, in a way, America has a lot to work on when it comes to their tolerance of people. Maybe a good hero program would go a long way there." Maybe forcing a conversation was not the way to go. Maybe she just needed to be real and honest about things. Just let the conversation happen. At least, that what she hope would happen.

G nodded after Kasey said that America is strange because each state is like a different country all together. "Indeed, Its more like the European Union if you ask me. Hell, both even have the word in it United States of America. European Union. Only difference is USA while having a union has one prez, while the EU has like a dozen or whatever. Plus the name is dumb. So we just call it America for short even if America is actually a continent, not the country. America is weird" G said after he made his own observation on his country.
Selena who was chill meanwhile understood that it was hard for G and Kasey to talk. Especially since both were not talkers, introverts and not social butterflies, extroverts. Anywho Selena answered and indeed said how each state has a different set of rules when it comes to quirk users. Some are lax while others seem a bit harsh. Its wild really. Maybe he was at least blessed he was from a state that was chill with quirks. G nodded when Selena answered "I cant imagine how wildly different each state is. I guess I lucked out on that front then. " he said

Gabriel and Kasey were right. The states in America were so different from one another. Each one had so many different rules about how quirkers should conduct themselves and the taxes were astronomical. It was annoying how confusing it was for Selena. One moment, the officials are making promises to make more lax laws for quirkers so they can have a bit of breathing room. The next they were making laws further boxing the already different people in. She hated it. But at the same time, she did miss home.
"Well hopefully one day, they can all be on the same front about things," Selena commented, looking out towards the ocean. Maybe one day she would visit there and see how things were. But right now, she was needed here. Her moms were needed here. She had to be there for them. They had a chance to turn things around in Japan and she wanted to be there to support it. But they were so different. Selena was more about discipline and rules while her moms were all about being carefree and coloring outside the lines. But she loved them. And she would do anything for the two. "So you guys have a family?" Selena asked, changing the subject to something else.

States, wasn't he from the islands? Were each of the islands like how states were, drastically differing in culture? Or was Hawaii its own little thing that only varied slightly from island to island? She wanted to ask, but as the words left her mind to her lips, not a sound escaped her. There wasn't much to say, not having much time spent over there beyond a few dozen meetings over the last year. It wasn't like Japan's regions differed that much. Sure, some had their own little uniqueness to them, but it wasn't like she stepped into a different country. Other areas had their own bit of history, and those bits would send ripples throughout time to define that land. That was how she saw things, and that simply was how things were. "I'm glad Japan is simple in that regard." she mustered up the words, only to have the topic shift to an easily difficult situation. "Everyone has a family. Only that the lucky ones have shared blood." her mind lingered on what used to be, but she was happy. She believed it at least. The small moments she could cherish between the people she enjoyed. It was hard to have regrets. Because then it would be all she felt. ~ Word Count: 212 ~ |

The subect was changed relatively fast when it came to politics, well he should've figured. Though the subject changed to family. Selena asked if they had family. Kasey gave a classic Kasey answer. G then spoke "I have a family indeed. As a Hawaiian, family is important. Ohana means family. Speakin of family" he looked at Kasey "I see Kasey as my sister, even if we are not blood related. We just... grew apart, because I dont have siblings and I dont know how to be one. I thought since Kasey is an adult, I didnt need to monitor her like a child. So I let her be... and well.. I guess we grew apart" G spoke to... well no one in particular. It started as an answer to Selena, but soon switched to Kasey, because this was the best moment to speak what happened. Yes, he was aware Kasey did bad things and honestly he didnt wanna know how bad. But he still just hopes that theres a sliver of hope to change and become good. He wasnt gonna force Kasey into anything. She chose her true path and if she still rejects this then so be it. He wont be hostile unless she provokes him
