Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. It wasn't the sound of her shoes, but rather her pressing down the metal clip at the top of all of the handouts. The wooden clipboard tapping into itself as she pressed, released, pressed, released. The sound echoing in the empty room. The dozens of seats, barren, the offices mostly in use, from the stairs down, to all of the other check up rooms. The weekend was usually slow for this department, it was all the more reason to cover the shift. It wasn't like it was actually going to be work. Kasey's hair was tied up in a loose bun, as glasses hung on her nose. She knew were all of the forms were, all of the paperwork, where each and every room, number, and patient was. It was her job. It was her business. It was her company. The perfect illusion of the assistant to the CEO, being just another employee working several jobs. When he wasn't there, she did her own thing. It wasn't a night in the pharmacy, but again with their Research and Development. Just a few hours of testing and gathering information for a free check up. Provide extra information about your quirk. It was as simple as it sounded. Experiments on animal based abilities to see how much of their biology lined up. Not everyone was the same, but having a base to work upon did help them exponentially. There was no reason to stop, when even just an afternoon playing with gravity with one person, would save another from using a form of telekinesis too violently. All helpful information to know. It was about control, to better society as a whole. For them, it was keeping data that would pertain to any, and every hero and villain in the future. For them, it was an investment. For the patients, well, it was a way to save hundreds, if not thousands on their healthcare. Just making a small trip once a month for an hour or so would drop most people's premiums down to near nothing. Low income patients provided with a cheap alternative as opposed to government provided healthcare. Ketsujo had the finest people working, day and night. Why would anyone settle for less than that? After all, all of this was in the same goal, the same values. The Ketsujo Corporation was here to make a better you. ~ Word Count: 401 ~ |

| H ospital visits were not something that Angel Surami usually needed despite all of the combat she found herself in quite frequently thanks to the facilities at U.A. High, but Angel had heard about a doctor named Kasey Setsuna who was giving out free medical exams in exchange for being able to study said mutants quirk and collect data on them in order to better technology to deal with such things. Beyond her rising fear that she was losing control of the super strength that came with her quirk and how many calories she needed to consume to keep functioning the real reason she accepted was so she could meet this doctor and try to reach a buisness agreement to get medical facilities or safety facilities for New Oasis which was currently under construction. Since Angel was off of school due to summer she was staying at her family's upscale home and so getting dressed was no big task. She put on one of her favorite less feminine outfits and a new black leather trench coat which her mom and auntie had bought her as an early graduation gift that even contained tailored wing holes so that her wings could slide in and out with ease if she needed to hide them or needed to slide them away to get into a tight space though she hated doing so because shrinking them for a long period of time hurt considerably. Once she grabbed her bag and stuffed it with a couple sodas, chocolate bars, energy bars and her wallet she walked up to her auntie's art studio and opened the skylight before opening it up,spreading her wings and with just a push from her legs took to the sky before using her wings to take flight at top speed of about 55 MPH toward Tokyo hospital while staying at her top hight where no one could see anything but a pink and black blur pass through the sky even breaking through some clouds. As she flew Angel had an unusual realization. "This might actually be my very first non-U.A. doctors appointment! I wonder what it might entail."The only thing Angel could remember due to having been treated and kept as a slave most of her life was being fitted for her trademark hearing aids. Oh she might if this truly was a quirk check up and study may have to remove them to show how her mutation had stopped her ears and eardrums from growing. Angel pushed this thought out of her mind as she arrived at the hospital and landed softly in a nearby alley resting her wings flat against the back of her trench coat and walking out of said alley. She then walked inside and told the person at the front desk what kind of appointment she had and that it was with Doctor Setsuna and was quickly told to go. Once Angel arrived she lightly knocked on the door before walking in with her usually large trademark cheshire grin to hide her nervousness. "Hi Dr.Setsuna! I'm Angel Surami! We spoke over the phone about a quirk exam test, and a check up? I will admit that aside from being fit for my hearing aids I've never actually been to the doctor unless the infirmery at U.A. counts."Aside from the rather noticable hearing aids the doctor upon closer inspection would see the long, deep and jagged vertical scar under Angel's right eye that went half way down her face, and once she was asked to remove her coat she would see similar but horizontal scars on her arms three on each bicep where she had ripped shrapnel from her body during her first year sport festival second round tournament fight. To show the doctor how large her wings were Angel spread them to their full 3 meter width. "How should me start doc? Once we are done I would like to talk to you about something,if you wouldn't mind." |

Kasey was a nobody, and for good reason. She was just another nameless white coat working for the Ketsujo Corporation. That being said, those at Yuuei, may have heard bits and pieces. The janitor who had simply too much money, and far too much experience with dealing with villains. She was mysterious, and for good reason. Kasey was still the named hero from Semper Fi, among, of course, the actual heroes that were there. Unlike them, she didn't receive fame, only a form saying she was being laid off. Such was life. Kasey sat behind the counter, much like any receptionist. When the girl arrived, the woman there would suggest going down to the lower floors to direct her to the proper room. There, she would find the woman sitting behind a similar counter, the sound still being played over and over. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. The girl arrived, and with it, she spoke. "I won't be doing the check up. This is area is only for examinations and research." she would explain. ". . . You do know what we do here, right?" she asked, curious if the girl understood what really was going on. The call was short, nothing more than booking a name and a time. With a slow day, there was nothing but slots opened. She looked over the girl, only to place the clipboard on the counter between them. The forms asking for her full name, current residence, the general information. On the back, strange questions, mostly naming common quirks she has seen, as well as the first three heroes, in no particular order that first came to mind. "First, paperwork. There has to be a record, else, I can't really help you out." she would explain first. The forms themselves full of information, explaining in short what they do with the data. It was nothing more than a waiver that allowed them to use what they learned to help other people. Everyone benefited in the end. "Once it's done, we can talk about whatever you want?" a curious thing to ask. Was there a reason she had come here after all? Was it about Kasey, or about the whole ordeal? It wasn't like she was anyone important. Kasey wasn't even so much as a footnote among The Ketsujo Corporation unless this girl knew something she shouldn't. Should she be weary? Unlikely. But could never be too sure. ~ Word Count: 402 ~ |

| A s the woman behind the desk said that she wasn't the one that was going to be doing the examination Angel raised an eyebrow at this and let out a small sigh. It would be luck that she would end up being tested by some skeezy male who was more interested in seeing her body in motion then actually testing what her quirk could do. As the woman asked Angel if she knew what exactly they did here Angel nodded and smile. "I gotta say I hope I don't end up getting examined by some guy who just gets his kicks from looking at mutant girls. I've met the type. Yea I know what you do here somewhat. Simple version is that you study various quirks and develop tech to help them adapt right? I actually got my hearing aids from here."As Angel was given the form to fill out which she quickly flipped back and forth to read the questions on the front and back her eyes quickly darting down the page as she took in the information. She then in a blur of hand motion grabbed a pen and began to fill out the information on the front first which were the straight forward questions like name, age, where she lived, her height and weight all that sort of things. Angel quickly filled all of the front out rather quickly though when she had to list her residence she listed both her civilian home and U.A. since when summer was over she would have to return there for the rest of her final year before becoming a sidekick. Once she got to the back she once again raised an eyebrow as the back asked for things like the first three pro heroes that came to her mind and some common quirks that she found rather often. To this Angel just nodded to herself and quickly listed Red Horn,Yellow Jacket and Witch Doctor as they were three of the pro heroes that taught at U.A. Under common quirks she listed flight, super strength and super speed. Once she was done with the back she signed her name on the waver and passed it back to the woman, and with a light toss put the pen back in the pen cup as she rested her wings flat against her back. "There you go ma'me! All filled out and ready to go! As for what I wished to speak with you about,In five months my orphanage and youth center named New Oasis will be opening. The purpose of this place is not only to bridge the gap between quirkless and quirkers, but also teach children with hard to control quirks how to develop and maintain them so that they can lead normal civilian lives while also teaching various apptitude classes such as art, baking, sewing, acting and other such things so that both peoples can grow up to be productive members of society and end the bigotry between the two in their generation."Angel paused for a moment to let the information sink in before she continued. "I've heard of some of the things K-corp is responsible for,and what i'm interested in is the medical and quirk enhancement services so I can help the quirkers under my care train or learn to control their abilities in a much safer environment. I would like to speak and possibly strike a deal or partnership with whom ever is the head of those things so I can add them as well as trained staff to my facility. All will be paid handsomely of course. Money is a non-issue. All I care about is the safety, happiness and development of my charges. Could you maybe arrange such a meeting?" |

It wasn't like Kasey was the only medical professional. That being said, it wasn't like they didn't have professional heroes around to help out, and sometimes take in their own patients from time to time. They were still people, it just happened that some of them were doctors. "Well, any man like that wouldn't work here. That being said, we can set you up for a female doctor if that's what you prefer." She answered, wondering what the girl had gone through. She had admitted to only being tested at Yuuei for the most recent history, yet had a sleazy doctor? Wasn't Nimue the nurse now? Sophie was the one before her. What the hell was going on over there? Was there a new guy? Before she could continue the thought, the girl would fill out the form at a lightning pace, handing it over. Kasey rose a brow as she looked it over, seeing it was all answered and put it into the folder to be sorted later. It wasn't the neatest form, but, it did have all the questions answered. Good enough. Before Kasey could direct her to the facility, she would propose a sort of business plan? As a student of one of the most prestigious schools, didn't seem to have a dream about being the number one hero, but some kind of dean of sorts? It was a strange proposition. "Okay. Well you know I'm just a pharmacist? At most I oversee this program and act as a secretary. I don't see how..." The short pause in her speech continuing. With it, a sort of explanation. Kasey remained silent for a moment, only to take her own form, copying the girl's name upon the top of it and placing it on the same clipboard the form once laid on. She took a long inhale and pushed up her glasses, readjusting them. "Okay, so let's start over." She would say, still in her seat, trying to process it all. "Are you here for an examination, or a business meeting? The Ketsujo Corporation already helps out people with quirks and other strange abilities, so I can see where the interests line up. I can pass that information along?" It was all so strange. "So you're opening a school and want to hire us or..." It wasn't rare for a few doctors to go on a house visit. To have an event to go to another location for a time, wouldn't be too strange. That would be simple enough to arrange. ~ Word Count: 422 ~ |

| A ngel let out a sigh of joy when the woman at the front desk said that she could have a female examiner if that's what she wanted. Angel quickly nodded to this and tried to find the best way to explain what she had been through and why she had a slight bias for female doctors and caretakers aside from being a lesbian. For the first time since she walked in Angel's body language seemed to slow down as if she was putting more thought into her words and actions until she found the right words. Once she did she snapped her fingers before gently rubbing her neck where her collar and broken chain used to rest. "It's not that I don't trust your male doctors ma'me,it's just that I was born to a quirkist father and my mother and I were literally his slaves as well as his abuse victims. The night I took our freedom he tried to cut my wings from my back with a rusty saw. I guess just being in an unfamiliar and very clinical place such as this for the first time has me a bit on edge you know? Like part of my brain is screaming for me to leave because one of the male doctors could be one of his quirkist lackies. I know it must sound stupid to a seasoned professional like yourself to hear someone training to be a pro hero be so nervous about something as simple as a doctor visit. I just recently this year in fact found the strength to remove my metal collar and broken chain."As the young woman explained she was just an overseer, pharmacist and secretary Angel just gave her a big warm smile before the woman asked her to start over, and then asked if she was there for the examination or a business meeting. "I'm here for both actually Ma'me. The reason I came for the examination was because I wanted to have my quirk checked out because it's causing my physical strength to quickly go beyond super human levels even for a quirker. Even with the training I do at U.A. I shouldn't be able to lift three cars at once. My other big concern is my constant need for calories to keep going much like a diabetic needs insoline to function and not pass out. I sometimes if I overuse my quirk have the same problem where I feel like my blood sugar drops and I'm gonna pass out. I was hoping to find answers as to why my quirk is developing in such a way."As for the work side of things when the woman asked if she was looking to hire them for her school Angel tapped her chin. "It's not really a school. I'm not training the kids to be heroes like I am being trained at U.A. It's a combination Orphanage and Youth center where if the kids who have safe homes to go home to can as they please. For those not in the system coming to New Oasis is voluntary and only serves to help them better themselves, and help them work through the budding challenges of life or talk about problems they may not feel comfortable or safe talking about with their parents or guardians. The place is what the name implies ma'me. It's a New Oasis where children of all colors, genders, quirk or quirkless, race, sexuality or whatever can come to feel safe in this increasingly dangerous world. I decided to found it so that no child quirker or quirkless will ever have to go through what I did as a child.
My goal here after my examination is to hopefully strike up a business deal where I can buy the quirk safety equipment I need to keep my charges safe as well as hire or loan out individuals qualified to operate it and help the kids with their physical and emotional states in ways that I or my regular staff might not be able too. I understand that you probably have those kind of facilities and staff here for such a project, but i feel it would help with both quirker and quirkless mental, emotional and physical development as well as unification in the setting wasn't so..clinical? I want them to feel safe and at home? Does that make sense?" |

Kasey wasn't hard pressed for cash. She didn't need a new job, she owned the whole damn thing. Taking a new job would only suck up even more of her time. But, to establish a network, a contract of sorts, would be easy, even with her proxy position as an examiner. To pass it along was just a way for her to do things, without making it too obvious she was the one doing them. That being said, the young girl seemed to just unload all of her problems. She wasn't a therapist. Did she mistake Kasey for one? Maybe she was just really open. All of it was up to debate, but the idea of someone like that, not saying that a troubled past defined a person, did send up a few red flags. With that said, Kasey got up from her seat and waved at the girl to follow along. Part of it was to get it all done and over with, the other half not wanting anyone to overhear this craziness. "Ah, then you're energy based." Kasey would begin to explain. "The cells in your body are overloaded with energy, and you need calories to replenish and maintain them. That's not too strange, my own quirk is more of the same." Three cars? Why did she say that like it was a normal feat? Wings? And Super strength? Something wasn't adding up. But then again it wasn't rare that some people had several different traits. This could have just been one instance. Kasey struggled to follow along, the floodgates splashing with an overload of information. If the girl followed, they would head into a larger room, much like a gymnasium, though, about half the size of the typical high school basketball court. A good fifty or so meters deep and plenty of room to get into things. A few dummies made of straw on one end, and silicone sat against the wall of the room. "Well, fortunately, The Ketsujo Corporation can help with financial troubles, if a loan is what you need. Unfortunately, this is a hospital, you'd have to go to one of the banks for that. As for equipment, I don't think we sell what we use. But if you can establish a contract, all our doctors will come with their own gear when the time comes." ASTA didn't manufacture it. Ketsujo was in the works developing a few prototypes, but none to be released to the public, not yet at least. That being said, either it was just a random guess or she happened to have insider knowledge. The latter seemed impossible, given the circle that was aware. It seemed it was just a hero-to-be's dream to create an oasis youth center for everyone to relax and just hang out. It seemed harmless. The idea of medical professionals would always be prominent. She was still a Yuuei student, and that might be all she needed to get it started. "Where's this place going to be located?" Kasey asked. ~ Word Count: 504 ~ |

| A s the woman motioned for Angel to follow her she happily did so and listened as the woman explained that Angel was something called an energy type, and that the cells in her body were overflowing with energy. This meant that she needed a high calorie count to replenish that energy. Even though Angel didn't understand all of the technical stuff behind it,it did make as at least some sense to her. Her cells were overcharged and so when that energy runs out she needed tons of food to recharge them like one of those rechargable batteries! "I think I understand! I'm like a one of those rechargable batteries right? Sorry if I got it wrong,i've never been the best scholastic subject student except for stuff like literature and science. Kinda have to know science like aerodynamics when you are a flyer and use feather projectiles. Gotta know Geometry too,but that's about the best at math I get.As they reached the small basket ball court type room Angel listened to the woman explain that while they couldn't sell her the equipment she needed, but if she could establish a contract with the company then their doctors would come out with their own equipment when the time came that they were needed. As for money Angel shook her head. "Everything has already been paid for by myself and my family, and construction is already underway. We should be ready to open in about five months around the time I graduate. As for where New Oasis is located,it's at the very edge of Mutfatsu and will have a tall outer wall and gate to keep any prying eyes away from the kids. You know the types that would treat them as a side show or circus to gawk at. Plus being at the very edge of town,if something bad were to happen with one of the children's quirks it would minimize the area effected and keep the civilians out of harms way"Angel then grinned brightly before noticing the two dummies made of different materials before looking at the examiner with a curious look and an eyebrow raise. "What would you like me to do with those? Use the different aspects of my quirk on them for you to study? If that's the case you might wanna bring out a metal dummy,if you don't want those to get broken." |

Battieres? That was the analogy she wanted to go with? Well, if you assume that charging is the same to eating, sure. But when a battery was overcharged, there was also damage, and being completely drained had its own downfall. Maybe it wasn't so far off from the mark. "Well, sure, lets say you're a battery. You're charged by food. Too much, you'll explode, too little, and you won't have enough energy to even walk across the street." Kasey's own body came with the same cost, but she had figured out one of the easiest methods to overcome it, a secret, she would never dare tell a civilian. That being said, now being in the room, did allow her to move as she needed, as she could. Kasey was careful to ready her notes. "Planning for a worst case scenario. The city might not be at risk with an accident, but what happens to the people who are next to that person when it happens?" Without a sort of security measure, some authority that would prevent such problems from arising, there would be trouble. All of the elitists from both sides, would make it an easy target. Such a place, Kasey feared would only put more work in the hands of the professionals... and maybe that would be a good thing. The dozen mixed variety dummies sat where they were. "Nothing yet." Kasey would say. "For now, simple physical exam." She lifted a finger to the far side of the room, then pointed at the ceiling. "Walk to the far side, then back, increasing your speed slowly. Then, we'll see a bit of your flight, and test your strength that you're so concerned about." She would explain. ". . . wait, why would we need metal dummies at all?" A weird thing for the girl to point out. What was the reason? ~ Word Count: 309 ~ |

| A ngel nodded along as the woman confirmed her theory about being a battery saying that if she ate too much or too little then both could be bad. That made total sense when put in Angel's simplistic yet imaginative language. It totally made sense which caused Angel to grin a wide grin since she was somewhat able to keep pace with the scientist who she was just realized that she never asked the name of. "That's what I thought! I mostly use stuff that's high in sugar like soda, energy bars or chocolate. It seems to work fine for me in most cases. Also please forgive me,but I never asked your name! That was incredibly rude of me!"Angel then turned to face the examiner and used her right wing like a cape as she often did as she proceeded in a princely bow before standing straight up and resting her large wing flat against her back. She then in a fast walk went and sat her bad down in the corner, but kept her trench coat on to protect her from her own extreme speed. She then listened carefully as the woman asked what would happen to the people inside the campus if an accident was to happen. Angel then pointed to herself. "That's mostly what I'm for,but that's why I wanted to see if you guys had any protective equipment to contain such an event until I or my other staff were able to calm the child down. I was thinking that in the opening weeks you could run similar tests like the ones we are doing now and use that data to develop counter measures. I once met and had to apprehend these two sisters who had the power to control fabric and use it like wire weapons. Once they got taken to juvy they were made to wear these rubber like outfits so that one of the sisters who couldn't control her quirk wouldn't lose control."As the woman explained that they weren't gonna use the dummies yet.and instead do a physical exam where she walked from one side of the room to the other gaining speed as she went, and then asked why they would need metal dummies causing Angel to giggle. "When I said I could lift three cars at once I wasn't joking. My max lift or punch at full strength is clocked at 3200 kg or 7054 lbs. Also ma'am,if you want me to build to my top speed you may want to press yourself against the wall, because my top speed clocks in at 90 km/hr or 55 MPH and I've been know to cause large gusts of wind when I run or fly. It's why I'm keeping my trench coat on so I don't harm my skin. I would hate for someone as nice as you to accidentally get hurt."Angel then began to walk back and forth from one wall to another for a couple laps while building speed with each pass tapping the wall with her right palm each time. It wasn't long until Angel broke into a run and began to increase speed rather quickly and the taps beginning to happen increasingly more frequently. Once Angel approached her top speed of 55 MPH the air around her began to kick up around her as she ran and turned. Once her top speed had been reached her body began a blur of pink and black thanks to her wings, hair and trench coat. After a few runs at top speed Angel skid to a stop causing a strong gust of wind to quickly rush toward her back. To keep it from cutting the examiner Angel spread her wings like a buffer to protect her. She then with a light press off of her feet took to the air slightly above the examiner. "You okay Ma'am? What would you like me to do while flying?" |

Sometimes, rather than breaking down the science of how things worked, it was just easier to use a comparison. She did prefer the analogy of a sponge and water, but if batteries were what it took, then so be it. It wasn't like it was a harmful example, it was fine. For now at least. That being said, something high in sugar would actually change diet, and make it sugar based, and not calories. But, if she knew she needed to eat it, then it was probably correct. She made a note on the form of such details. "Just call me Kasey." she would say, tapping the identification badge around her neck. The picture of her still with pink hair, and her horns larger and much more visible. She didn't linger on it, but rather continued to the pressing matters. The girl readied herself, bowing, which seemed long overdue, then answered. "Well, here, we're already equipped to deal with things like that. That being said..." she carefully looked over bits of the room, curious to its own condition and value, "It would be counterproductive on our end to split our resources, considering the locations given. And forgive the thought, but you're going to be the only line of defense then?" A student, who was training to be a hero, stationed at a center every day, all day? That didn't seem like a professional hero at all. That's like picking who you can save. Unless that was the point? It hardly seemed to make sense. ". . . I really feel like you're doubting my capabilities as an examiner." Kasey would reply back to the girl. As she begun to walk laps, and turn to a run, and eventually a sprint, Kasey's nail's extended and grew. As the girl picked up the gusts, she would merge and fuse the bones that replaced her nails, and create a sort or wedge, diverting the wind around herself, protecting herself from the large draft. As the girl continued, faster and faster, Kasey would just plant herself, the bone embedding into the ground, into all of the little crevasses, careful to not damage the property, all the while she took out the pen and continued to make notations on the girl. "I'm fine." she would answer. "Now next is height, then speed, then stamina." she would say. "Touch the ceiling, land, then fly back up at whatever speed you're comfortable with, don't crash into the ceiling, then just stay mid air for a few minutes."Simple enough. ~ Word Count: 419 ~ |

| A s the woman finally named herself as Kasey, and Angel was in the air she noticed the bone like nails that her examiner had used to protect herself from the sharp gusts of air. This caused Angel's eyes to go wide, and her smile to go wider as she saw that the mutant before her had more tricks up her sleeve then Angel initially believed. It was clear Angel was excited to see this to the point that Angel quickly flew down to Kasey happily, but remained hovering slightly off the ground. Even though she was hovering it almost looked as if she was bouncing in the air in excitement. "Your quirk is so cool! I so did not expect the bone nails! I haven't seen anything like that before in my life! I just thought you had the demon horns! It's actually a little funny and ironic that a devil like mutant is helping an angel like mutant who's hero name is actually the Angel of Mercy!"Angel giggled happily before quickly and happily circling Kasey once as she listened to her say that it would be counter productive to split their resources, and then she asked if Angel would be the only line of defense. To this Angel shook her head and crossed her arms. She then grinned another huge grin. "Oh no! I am just the extra big gun! When we do open, and we've all graduated I'll have my protege Madam web,the new rookie pro pop poet, myself, the vigilante Red Edge and my girlfriend who calls herself Silent Shadow. Not to mention the pro's that teach at U.A. Let's just say I feel a great swell of pity for the poor souls who come to my orphanage looking for trouble."These words were said with absolute and complete confidence like she had handpicked her most cared for and trusted group of heroic friends to protect the children under her care, and would happily die defending any of them! As Kasey told Angel that she was underestimating her as an examiner. This caused Angel's ever present smile to falter for just a moment. "That was not my intention I promise Kasey! I just have accidently either scared or minorly hurt others that i cared for with my speed or strength, and i didn't want that to happen to someone as nice as you since you are being such a big help! I can see now that you can handle yourself just fine!"Angel nodded at Kasey as she listened carefully at the simple instructions. All she had to do was fly to the ceiling, touch it and then fly back down. She then just had to fly back up at whatever speed she wanted and then just stay there. "You got it Kasey!"Angel then easily flew up to the ceiling and placed her palm on it before landing lightly. She then with just one large flap of her wings that once again kicked up air flew back up into the air stopping short of the ceiling with a chuckle. "Wait until you see my strength, and my projectile feathers! I know I already said this, but you are gonna need stronger dummies! Oh wait a sec!"Angel then with a quick flick of her right wing as if she was throwing a knife shot down a feather as sharp and durable as steel down between the feet of the silicone maniquin which stuck into the floor. "Give that a look! As dense, strong and sharp as steel. For my ultimate move I harden all my feathers at once, wrap my wings around me while flying forward and spinning in a counter clockwise motion to pull my target in close to make sure i don't miss. I never go for a direct hit though because that would be fatal. I can soften my feathers again as long as they are still attached to me and they regrow pretty quickly, but in their natural state they are incredibly flammable. I learned that the hard way. Hardening my feathers,my super strength and super speed are where most of my stamina goes." |

Quirks were illegal to in most public places, unless you had a license that permitted you to do so. Professional Heroes were granted such a licenses, as well as certain officials. Using a quirk here however, was gray area, especially, when the institution that ran it was a private industry. That being said, with all of the licensed people on board, even if it wasn't approved, it would have been exempted. The Ketsujo Corp was protected, almost seamlessly. Demon horns. Devil like. From someone who was training to be a hero, it was hard to feel good about yourself, or them for that matter when it was words like these that belittled a person. Small words spoke by normal people who saw those with quirks as monsters or freaks. It was the situation with Taylor and Chimera all over again, but this time, it was her who was the target of this offense. People like this were often unfit to be heroes. The exemption was those who were young, and foolish, those were easily to correct. But given the observation of the girl's age, it was far too late in her career. It was not one for Kasey to teach. That lesson would most likely be taught the hard way. Kasey nodded and smiled along. The idea of a youth center that was supposed to unify two groups of people, with someone who could not carefully pick their words was concerning, but it didn't matter. Kasey was here for the exam, and nothing more. Employing heroes was easy when you asked for it, and had a network of people at your disposal. She nodded with the words, impressed by the plans. "I've probably been put though a hotter hell than most heroes..." the former janitor. If only people knew the messes she had to clean up. That was, until she watched a feather blade cut though the air and burrow itself into the ground just near the mannequins. A sigh escaped her lips, along with the visible frustration. Had she not already instructed that she wasn't asking for that? Now, there was a hole in the floor that she needed to tend to personally. She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply, and then out. Kasey made the quick notes before addressing the girl. "Right." she would say, "Well this concludes today's observations." She would bow. Any further and she was sure the building would be coming down. It was not something she wanted to deal with, nor have to fix later. ~ Word Count: 420 ~ |

| A ngel could tell by the look in Ksey's eyes that she had somehow offended her. She quickly thought back about the words she had said about Kasey's quirk and appearence, and as soon as it dawned on her Angel covered her mouth with shame in her eyes. She then quickly flew back over to Kasey with an apologetic look. She at least in Kasey's eyes had done the very thing that Angel fought so very hard against. Angel quickly walked up to Kasey with a gentle smile. "I promise I wasn't trying to demean your quirk,or your looks. When i expressed interest,it was completely genuine. I love to see and learn about quirks I have never seen before, much like it seems you do too. I only called your horns devil like because of the way the government categorizes quirks. Both you and I are most likely in the mythological category together. I never meant any offense! I am genuinely excited to know more about what your quirk can do! Like are the bone nails just your fingers,or can you do it with your toes too?"As Kasey said that she had been through a hotter hell then most heroes Angel just nodded as her fingers once again found their way to the front of her throat as the memory of her former slave master and father came flooding back. It seems that the Angelic mutant and the Devil like mutant had more in common than Angel had originally thought. For a moment Angel's smile faded completely as she thought back on those years before blinking the images out of her mind. "I can empathize trust me Kasey. While my mom and auntie are kind and loving I was also born to a quirkist bigot of a father who literally treated my mother and I as slaves for 14 years. He put a collar steel collar and chain around my neck and used to chain me to the floor so i could never fly. The year before I joined U.A. I finally found the strength to break my chain one night. I remember that night as clearly as if it happened yesterday. My father came home drunk after one of his quirkist meetings and decided he was tired of looking at my wings, and wanted to keep me grounded forever. He grabbed a rusty saw and moved toward me to try and cut my wings from my back, but my mom tried to step in and so he began to beat her."As Angel paused her fists clenched as well as her jaw as a familiar rage filled her for a moment before she took a deep breath to calm herself. "To save my mama I pulled. I just pulled at my chain as hard as I could until finally it snapped. I then took the long broken off piece and began to choke the man to get him away from my mama. In that moment I had an internal choice to make. This choice would become my mantra, and that mantra is Mercy not vengeance. Despite how much I wanted to I didn't take his life, but scooped up my mama and gave him a warning that if I ever caught him doing what he had done to us,then he would see how fast mercy could turn into Vengeance. On that day the Angel of Mercy was born, and I vowed to one day build an oasis where both quirkers and quirkless could come live or hang out so they would never go through what I did."Once she was finished speaking Angel saw that her feather had cracked the floor causing her to blush. She quickly, but at a normal human speed walked over to the feather and easily plucked it out seeing the cracks and wincing before walking back over to Kasey hearing her say they were done for the day. This caused Angel to pout for a moment. "Please don't make us stop! I'm sorry I cracked the floor! I wanna show you everything I can do. We just need a stronger room that's all! Can we please keep going? I promise to be more careful unless you say I can go all out."Angel then offered Kasey the steel hard and sharp feather to examine for her notes hoping that she hadn't squandered her chance at finally figuring out what made her quirk the way it was. |

There wasn't much to read from Kasey's eyes, considering that was not where her emotions were held. The feelings of animosity may have been prevalent, but they were irrelevant to the matter. What was said was said, and what was done, was done. A strange arrangement of an appointment turned into a meeting of sorts, and then a display of power. Was this the future of heroes, or was it simply a stray who had wandered upon such an event? The wings were more than her quirk, it was a physical alteration. It was extra limbs. Even if her quirk was " cured" those wings would remain, as would all of the marrow-based fibers Kasey held in her body. Along with the changes, the horns would remain. In a world where quirks lost, that would be her reality. It only took children to remind her. To have a student say that the government categorized quirks by physical traits, ones that labeled Kasey as a devil, was even more concerning. The government? Was that the basis of her ideals? Would they defend her youth center? No, it would not be like that. She had seen Semper Fi. A place like that, in a world like this was a death sentence. If she had insider knowledge, then it was exactly as it appeared. The young girl's curiosity was getting the better of her, and Kasey would not indulge the secrets of her abilities. The small limits she placed on herself were the only things keeping order in her world. Empathetic words meant nothing if you truly did not know the horrors of someone else. If you assumed what had happened, then you were only relating to the surface level of the issue. The girl couldn't understand, she wasn't there. She wouldn't have to understand the feeling of taking someone's life, to save someone else's. The feeling of knowing it was wrong, but doing it anyways because to not carry the burden, was to carry a heavier load if you failed. If she didn't toss aside her morals, she would let students, innocent lives die. But to save them, was to force them to disregard their ethics. Which of the two roads was preferred? Could anyone else understand her ultimatums? Could anyone else understand how many she had made between when the sun rose, and the moon ascended? She spoke on about her fears and woes, a past she held onto. She ran from it, or rather, flew away from it, yet would retell the story again. How many times would she choose to relive it? How many times would she recite it before she had moved on? Only twice had Kasey recalled the truth of her parents. She felt no need to share how much they hated quirks, and by extension their daughters. It was easier to face them, and know the truth, than to live a life of what ifs. What if Kasey hid her quirk? Would she had grown up with her sister? Would they have been closer? Would her parents still be alive? every day, she faced her reality. Every day was another touch choice hiding behind the other. Every day, she had to learn to accept what she had done, and advance. She did not have time to live in the past. But every moment alone, she would spend grieving. A hero that threatens to kill, is not a hero. She was just a vigilante in hiding. What if her father had done something? Was it not the heroes to trust in the justice of Japan? Was it not their duty to only apprehend subjects and leave it to the government to decide their fate? It didn't matter. Kasey was no longer a member of Yuuei. Cultivating and helping kids made the right choices was no longer her job. Her job now, was to look after the general population. She could not concern herself with a single subject who may go against the grain. She nodded along, listening, but remained silent. The feather was offered, and Kasey shook her head. "With enough training, I'm sure you can reach the clouds. Though, based on your physiology, I would assume your bones are not hollowed like other avian. You don't seem to manifest traits of birds, which only means that the wings you have are also solid bone." She pointed with her pen, directing at the girl's wings, and then the general potions of her body. "Strength is a necessary factor for your wings to generate enough power to lift a normal human body. In order to lift a heavier person, your wings would have to grow stronger, and with it, the rest of your body. All of it is related." She took in a deep breath. "There's not much you can show me here, unless you can also shoot lasers from your eyes." she would smile, "If anything, weight, and other small bits of data would be helpful, not so much a display."~ Word Count: 833 ~ |
