He was so close to smacking his head on the desk. His hair tousled and his hand in it. The other one ticking with a pen on the desk of the book store. Right. Website up thanks to Poemu but that still did not mean he got it. Her instructions were... well that a manual and he could read a manual but if he was doing it right was the second question. He still had not opened the pages of trying to find a delivery company to work with him and it made him tired because he wanted to just get this thing to go better. He wanted a store that worked, the herb store of his parents worked because of their religion, and faithful neighbours that kept coming for fresh herbs and recipes of his mother and he destroyed that. Surely he kept the herb garden behind the store and everything worked for the occult shop and just continuing their line but not taking new customers in that way.
Ugh, how helpful would it be to smack your forehead against something? Would it give insights or only pain? He asked Karasu to shut up as well but the spirit had not even said anything. The thing was that at this point in time it was difficult. Right, okay continue. He closed the laptop and sat up straight, moving his one leg in front of the other to support himself while remaining in a standing position. He leaned with his elbow on the desk and scrolled on his notepad to find the delivery companies around. Hm, why did not many put down which districts they took, he needed them to give Wordbound a reasonable price to also deliver it to Tokyo. He needed to make a good deal for this else he was royally screwed. What was the word for it, maybe he should ask his sister when she would get back home. Though he did not like to talk bookstore business with her. He got this bookstore for her and she was getting justice for him, or so it felt. It was obviously for the both of them but he did not want Hifumi to worry about his stuff, he could do this, deal with this and everything, he was doing good, so he would just let it be.
He needed coffee or tea or something and he turned to his right, to look if the occult store was doing fine, he could get some fresh herbs for tea there.

Mustafu. She'd been coming here a lot more often lately considering her apparent popularity with the U.A. students, plus with so many businesses out here popping up as the town started to develop. It was nice, seeing a place like this grow and adapt to life with Quirkers. Although she didn't really consider herself a part of the wider Quirk society, she did still have one; a physical mutation at that, something she couldn't turn off. Over time people would be more tolerant and accepting, she had faith that people had the capacity to do so, as much as her sister Mari didn't.
Granted Mari had a lot more outward physical mutation traits, so it was only natural she was the target of more hate. More of a target on her back, as it were. But even if Mari was a bitch, no one deserved to be mistreated for something they were born with. Plus, she was Kai's sister; she'd defend her to the end! Eeeeven though Mari could probably defend herself a whole lot better than Kai could. All she could do was run fast, Mari could literally fire giant heat lasers. One blast from that and you weren't getting back up again.
Ah, noon, time for her designated lunch break.
Still a few packages to deliver today but nothing urgent, no specific timed deliveries or anything sensitive. Plus they all seemed to be nearby anyway, not like she was going to be running across the entire town, she was better at planning than that. Her final delivery would be near the train station so she could hop right back on there to get home; convenient and efficient! Honestly she'd been surprised how much of this job was just planning routes, it was a good thing she was mostly inactive at night so she had plenty of time to get it done.
There had to be somewhere to get something to eat around here, right? It's not like she was in a particularly rural or isolated area... there had to be somewhere good for food! Suddenly she saw a smaller shop, steam gushing from the top like the entire place was being cooked from the inside. According to the sign it was a Chinese place; a type of food she'd never had before. Huh. Hey, first time for everything, right? Chinese food ought to be great!
A few moments later she stepped out with some small dumplings she'd been told were apparently charsiu bao! Interesting! Placing one in her mouth, the steamed dumpling just seemed to melt in her mouth, giving way to a juicy, sticky barbequed pork in the center, making her audibly squeal in delight a little from the taste and texture. Yet as she stuffed another into her mouth, she noticed something a little odd.
A small bookstore... Wordbound. Books, huh? Kai thought about it for a moment. She wasn't much of a reader but she knew people who were. Maybe it was a good opportunity to grab one of her friends a nice little early and/or late birthday present. Depends what she found in there. From what she could see the owner didn't seem particularly happy, perhaps he was new to this business or maybe foot traffic had been light? She'd heard similar complaints lately from a lot of businesses online, that a lot of people had been scared off the streets by that Ishtar lady and her stupid 'list' or whatever. The fact that Yumi was on it and Kirk indirectly as well... made her bristle. That Ishtar bitch could take her list and shove it somewhere very un-PG-13.
Maybe she could offer some assistance, even if it was just bringing a smile to his face! She didn't like seeing people upset, especially fellow business owners! Kai quickly stuffed the rest of the bao into her mouth one after another, feeling a little bit of heartburn afterwards considering how fast she'd downed them but... this was an emergency! A man was in dire need of some friendly company! Besides, he wasn't bad looking either, she couldn't deny that.
Poking her head in the door curiously, she took a look around quickly, scanning the warm, inviting place for anything super interesting, only to then snap back to reality and deliver a quick salute as she stepped inside. "Hey there! Inoue, Kaisaki! Owner and sole delivery girl of Golden Sun Direct Delivery! Sorry for barging in, I'm looking for a book for a friend, was wondering if you had any recommendations?"

Okay, he would need a break. Get the cards and read them maybe that would give him an answer of some sorts that he could understand and appreciate. Or maybe read his tea leaves and tell him that he was doing something ridiculous or something he needed to think about. With making the website he had to open up more for deliveries and he just wasn't sure how to tackle that issue. He turned to the store and went to get some of the herbs, checking and picking those that wouldn't stay good for long anymore and he would consider that recycling. He wasn't going to sell fresh herbs with black edges and mucus because he wasn't fast enough. He was very secure at the job his father explained to him, his customers age-old and generations-long that stayed with them. Mamoru would protect that... legacy? Ugh he was thinking far too difficult and far too much, it probably had to do with Hifumi trying to find the person who killed their parents and he just wished she would leave it alone, but of course not.
With the last herbs in his hand, he turned back to the bookstore, closing the curtain behind him and moving to the back of the store on the other side to get the hot water boiler and be ready for his tea soon. He would in the meantime move back behind the register to get his laptop and just try again, but nothing. He was probably too dumb for this, the internet didn't interest him much, he liked music, books and just a few other things but internet needed to be easy and it wasn't easy to find anything that suited his need. Too expensive, not delivering to Tokyo and so on, and so on. He was going slightly insane.
The Gods must like him a lot, considering what the girl said and he just looked at her. The first thing she said took so much of his attention that it took him several seconds to realize she asked him for a recommendation. Right, a recommendation for a friend. Please by the Gods... let it not be a manga reader. "Ehm, sorry I was just looking at delivery information so that took my attention but a recommendation for your friend, what does your friend like?" Focus, Mamoru. You are working for a bookstore not for a delivery service, and he shouldn't have told her that, this was his concern. Besides, it was even more difficult to deny someone when he was desperate and face to face with that person and that was stupid... good job Mamoru. He glanced from the corner of his eye to Karasu, but again the spirit said nothing.

She blinked a little as he seemed to be distracted with something, kind of awkwardly hanging in the doorway until she finally decided to step inside. Clearly this guy was veeery stressed about something, she was glad she took the time to come in. Lord knows she always appreciated someone to talk to when she was as stressed as he was. Granted, that didn't happen often but hey, she believed in karmic justice. Put good into the world, the world will give good in return, though not always for yourself but for the people around you. She hoped in some sense that by helping others she would allow good luck to fall on Yumi...
The poor girl deserved a lot of it.
Of course she didn't know the full details of what had Yumi so stressed before they met but it was something to do with her ex-boyfriend, combined with a bunch of extra modelling work, school, learning to be a teacher... How in the hell did she balance all of that. Judging from her face when they first met and the fact that the girl hadn't had a day off in ages besides the hot springs trip, maybe Yumi just didn't balance it all. Maybe that's why she was so stressed out all the time.
"Hmm... do you have any books on time management? My friend has a lot on her plate and I think she's getting a bit stressed thinking she's not got enough free time... Normally I'd have said manga but I doubt she'd have the time to read it!" A stroke of genius, Kai! Not at all an idea she took from a friend of hers on the internet and presented as her own idea so as to make it seem like she was smarter than she was! She just knew Yumi would appreciate such a book if he had one!
But... wait, did he say delivery information? Her mind flashed back to Kaya-san, setting up that business deal where she handled their deliveries. Maybe she could help in a more substantial way than she thought! "You said you were looking for delivery information...? I just so happen to run a delivery business, maybe I could pitch in and help?" She beamed at him happily, bouncing on the balls and heels of her feet back and forth in excitement. More potential business deals, more contracts! She was becoming a real entrepreneur! Granted this did mean she'd have even more deliveries to do...
Maybe she needed to hire a part-timer...
Or get a van. Or both, really. She'd prefer to run but if she needed to she could probably take the van to Kaya's or something every few days, do one day delivery for selected times. If this guy wanted her to deliver stuff she could probably use the van for that too; books were heavy already without the added weight of a bulk order. If she could throw it all into the van she'd have a much better time of it. Right, that settled it, after this she was going to go look at van prices. Not that she had the income to spare right at this moment but still!
It felt good to be expanding her business like this. She swore Yumi must be her good luck charm because all of this happened after she met her! She'd need to thank her for that; whatever good deeds Yumi had done clearly karma was happy with her. Hopefully the book and the chocolates from Kaya would go a little ways as a thank you. Not that she was entirely selfless in that endeavor of course... if Yumi had better time organizing skills that meant... m-more time they could send together. Gosh why was her heart pumping so fast now?

Right focus Mamoru, you couldn't immediately look at the gift that was presented. It was an opportunity or a sign, he should ask the stones, the cards, everything really but not yet. He had to ask this girl what she would like to have for her friend. He wouldn't be able to get a delivery company to work with him if he failed to even work in his own store. He knew he could be awkward and uninviting and he had to change that. "Time management?" Was that a gift, would anyone like to get a book about time management? He rubbed his nose while he thought of something, because well he knew almost every book in the store, he had a good memory but he had to think about how to tackle this. A normal time management book was something you bought to actually learn it by yourself, if this was a gift it must not come off as offensive and be like hey you are a klutz here you have a book to teach you. So he thought, typed in the word he thought about in his register on the desk and found the book. He needed to see if he had it in stock or should order for her, he had a list on the computer but also wrote down which books he sold. Albeit that was more on his research on how good manga sold.
Hmm, while he found it and wrote it down he looked up to the young lady when she asked him about what he said before. Where he had rudely stared at her before Karasu kicked him out of the dream and told him what he should do. "You are kidding? Well if you would mind to give me advice in a bit, I will get a few books I have in mind for your friend." He would hold up a finger to indicate he would be back in a second and he quickly moved to the non-fiction section and took out two books before moving back to the registration desk and putting them in front of her.
One book was titled: Time-out from Stress: How to learn to relax in a few minutes and the other was called Time Management in a few steps. He had some more dull ones but this was more useful he would say and more interesting to read, the first one had a few steps and exercises or suggestions what you could do and the second was much more theoretical. He picked these to show the different versions for her. When Kai would have decided or if she needed more help he would make sure she was satisfied and done with her part before he would start to ask her about his issue. "Right, if you have a few minutes to spare, I hope you could help me. I mean this shop isn't that old yet but I have been working on going more online and now I have people asking me for delivery, but most of these people are in Tokyo and I don't know how to find a good delivery company to go there." And not cost him like seven books to deliver one.
