It wasn't that busy today, it might be the early hour yet or it had to do with the heat outside that people did not like to go shopping. His store had AC? The need to keep books secure and good was what he needed, the dry air was good for the paper within the books and... well Mamoru wasn't made out of ice or heat either, so he needed the cool air as well to be able to function. He stood behind the cash register, waiting for people to come either to pay or ask him a question. His blond hair was up in a small ponytail because he wanted to keep it out of his neck before he felt like melting even more.
There was a big book in front of him, which he made notes in. He kept up with what book he sold to keep an eye on the popularity of things and to wonder if he should order more. It was just his own little tick with knowing what he was doing and so on. The shade that the bookstore was in kept it cool as well, but also he had to make sure no candles or herbs in the back of the store were hurt either. The occult part of the store was hidden behind the purple curtains on his right, just next to the counter. They were slightly ajar, he did not entirely hide it but he knew the Japanese culture very well. He wished some people were open-minded more, but the anti-quirk stuff only proved more how Japan thought. He sighed, he did not like to think about such things and hated when his mind drifted off to do so. Anti-quirk riots had killed his parents who had only gone to watch. He still hated how it was in his mind even after eight years but maybe it had to do with Hifumi trying to work on the court case and find the villain. Sometimes he wished she wasn't so ambitious. He sighed, moving his feet a little back to lean with his upper body on the desk. Right, no one was here, he could relax for a bit. Placing his forehead in his hand and just letting out a sigh. He should get water, maybe it was an idea to serve lemonade or water in the bookstore so people would come... but what if they would touch the glasses that were wet and then touch books and not buy them and he had to deal with water damage and... okay calm down!
He could find something else... he would not mind putting water down even if it was just for himself. No one to help him in the store today, he really needed to work on getting better with making schedules, he always used to do this alone but the store was still kind of new. He was rather proud on how he had managed to get the aesthetic for something old right. That's what matters, people had to feel comfortable here and get what they wanted instead of ordering it online. Really... he should work on a website and such, then he needed more people though... he needed people to help make the boxes and the packages and... hm, he should use something for that. He took a post-it and start writing his ideas, he could ask the new employee and maybe find a delivery service he could trust. He should also ask in his investor if it was a good idea or only would take more money... too many questions, he was going to get better soon.

"I know it doesn't look the part, Fion, but according to this vendor's site about where they sell their manga...o-or maybe I misread it..." Drifting into the store, those baby blue tinted optics of his traced around and about...trying to find some sort of indicator of where the manga section was. Of course he was eager to look at other literary pieces upon those shelves, but a little bead of sweat rolled down his cheek as it began to dawn on him that his friend might be disappointed if there really wasn't manga here. Oh boy, this was a conundrum of sorts, yiiiiiiiiikes! Well, maybe if they didn't have any manga...they could try to coax the owner into it?
[break][break]
Yeah...that...that could work!
[break][break]
Even though he seemed calm, cool and collected on the surface, on the inside he was a rattling mess of nerves. Walking up to the counter where the man sat with his large book, he wasn't going to ask the obvious since it was clear as day that he worked there! "Hello, sir, I was wondering if maybe you have any manga here...?" It was weird, he found it a little easier to speak and communicate with business owners or workers, but trying to socialize outside of that? AAAAAAAAAa that was difficult, especially parties or events where people were intended to be far more friendly with one another. That was getting easier and all, but it still helped to have a nice little safety bubble along with him!

Fion's plans for the day were pretty simple go check out a book store with his friend Monty and maybe find some manga or something to read or if not at least it'd be a nice way to spend his time instead of just napping all day. It was pretty hot out though so he had hoped the bookstore would have some ac or something so it isn't hot and sweaty in there though it really depended on the owner of the store.
Fion wondered if it'd be an owner with alot of passion for their trade or just some old people who kind of vaguely know what their doing and have a musty old shack of a bookstore. Fion could soon hear his friend talking as they got in front of the store it didn't really look like a place that'd sell manga but he could tell it had a charm to it something just felt nice when looking at the store. Fion decided he'd speak up and express his thoughts. "It's doesn't look the part no. But something about this store feels nostalgic?" Nostalgic was the word he figured would work for it but he wasn't too sure if that was correct or not.
The inside of the store was interesting it looked like and older store but he could tell it wasn't really the oldest store and it felt nice and cool inside and pretty dry so the owner at least made sure to keep the books from being damp and getting ruined. He couldn't really see manga but he saw some novels that looked interesting it wasn't long until he could hear Monty asking for help from the owner. Fion wondered if there really was manga here but he wasn't sure if that was the case or not.
He also noticed a curtain slightly open and was curious if it was another section of the store or not? He was rather curious so he'd maybe ask whats in there after Monty gets his question answered.

While considering to get a jug of water and some glasses for customers, he decided to go in the back and grab the stuff, fill the jug with water and put on the registration desk as it was the furthest away from the books, except for a little stack on the other edge. His laptop and notepad were now in one of the drawers to avoid them being hit by it and he would just write somethings down with pen and paper. He was going to work on some of the issues he had when someone would actually come up to him, he first thought to grab one of the drinks until it seemed to be about something else, the question for manga. Why did everyone always want manga? What was the value of the pictures when you could read a complete and proper story that gave you everything you needed with the description in the book, with words!
He had to be reasonable, he was on a field trip, on a research program to understand which Manga was interesting and what he would have to buy. He was still so lost, why was Poemu free today? Seriously he had to consider what to do with it and how to make it better. He wanted to scream, but he would just do it internally. He turned to the blond that was on the opposite of his desk, "I am afraid I don't have that much manga yet but I can point to you the several we have." He had a few first volumes that Poemu had mentioned and some other volumes here and there, there were a few already sold as well, he tried to make note of what people bought and mentioned in case he would order new ones. "I can order something of course if it's not here at the moment." He would walk with Monty to the corner of the store and would point at the lower shelves where he had the mangas. Maybe he needed to figure out another place to store them, a table? Something? He would stand there a little idle to see if the boy and his friend would be interested in what just happened or would happen. Would they be disappointed, would they be able to tell him a bit more? He needed kids these days to tell him what worked or not for his store, tables have turned.

"It really does..." Those words came along almost as though he was drifting through a delicate daydream which brought about him to stir from it for a moment. This shop truly was like a glimpse into the past lost to the books of history, a rare treat if you were to ask him! Especially since this store reminded him of images that he'd only seen in dusty photo albums coated in dust. Thus in that aspect it was...nice...
[break][break]
When the owner of this shop popped up to aid them with and air of politeness about him, the young blonde couldn't help but maintain a calm and gentle smile. "Thank you, sir..." Respectfully bowing his head as the teen with icy blue optics followed along with his friend who may as well have been the protagonist in a manga or anime. No matter the case, his eyes drifted around as he tried to see if maybe there were any other titles that might interest him. After all, there was so much more to literature than just manga, when they got there though...he was a little baffled at the the placement of choice for the manga.
[break][break]
It...was a small selection...a really small selection...and rather challenging to find. Alright...either this shop owner wasn't very keen on manga...or he thought it was incredibly unpopular. Not wanting to come off as rude, he bowed his head lightly as his smile seemed more of a nervous nature. "Ah...um...thank you...but um...why did you choose the lowest shelf to place it...?" Since he was a bit taller than most, he tried to do the general gist of an average height in his head before motioning toward the shelf which would line up with the sight of most people. "This level would be ideal, or close to it...then the colors of the covers will draw attention to the other books around it, possibly even make more sales..."
[break][break]
As a budding artist, he tried to keep an open mind regarding aesthetic...hopefully the fellow blonde wouldn't be upset with him... "Um....what do you think, Fion?" TIME TO GET A SECOND OPINION....

Fion could hear Monty agreeing with him which was nice that he wasn't the only one who thought the store was like that he wasn't too sure if this store really carried manga if it did boy is it well hidden. Fion could settle for some fantasy novel though maybe the Hafling that book was a decent read even if it was rather long and had some boring moments in it.
The store owner seemed to come by after Monty asked and pointed the manga out it was in a questionable position since it's hard to notice though perhaps the owner just wanted to appeal more to the rare classic literature aficionado. Fion could soon hear his friend asking about the position of the manga he wasn't quite sure what to expect in response but he supposed he'd find out eventually he decided to look through the manga abit it was a pretty shallow selection but it wasn't completely awful.
Fion carefully picked one up it looked to be a copy of Wyvern Orb he gently scanned through the manga making sure to handle the pages in a matter to prevent any form of crumpling when satisfied he placed it back down. he could soon hear Monty asking his opinion on the matter and he decided he'd give his honest thoughts.
"It is true the positioning isn't exactly ideal but the books are kept in good shape and in a room of the proper temperature and lighting. Something tells me you passionate about your store is that correct?"
Fion did wonder though why he'd try in this day and age to go for something so nostalgic feeling maybe so people could relax or something he wasn't quite sure but he soon noticed what looked like another room did this store sell more then just books perhaps? "I'm curious what do you sell behind the purple curtain into the occult or something maybe?" Fion only guessed occult beacuse of the curtain but it could easily be a store that sells trading cards or something but the way the building looked it was doubtful.

Mamoru always had a strict neutral face, surely he could laugh and look friendly but it as his airy way of talking and what he said that made it understandable he was being friendly. With Monty's comments, he only raised his eyebrow. He did not want to admit that he had no idea where to stash it, could clear out this section of the shelves and put it there. "It is a temporary place." He said, but it was also intriguing how much this kid seem to know what would help about the sales and stuff and he eyed him a little suspiciously, more like in the trend of; he could use part-timers and that was an interesting way of thinking. "The mangas are new and I did not have many customers ask about them." Thanks Poemu for the heads up. His attention was then brought to Fion who at least seemed to understand the value of books, "Ah a passion for books, that's exactly how you could describe one of my traits. It is very important to keep the books free from too much light and too much moisture and dust. I am glad you notice." Hard work wasn't always paid off but it was nice to get a compliment here or there. However, it was hard to deny the fact that the manga annoyed him.
He looked over his shoulder even though he knew there was a purple curtain, after all, he had hung it there all by himself. "I do, it's a Wiccan shop." He said coolly as if it was not something weird or special. "You can look around there if you want?" It wasn't just a Wiccan shop but it was the easiest to explain an occult store, the herbs were there from his parents that he still kept and would work with until the last customer would have disappeared but it sold books on magic, tarot cards, athames, candles, amulets and so on. You could find a lot of strange things there if you weren't familiar with the setting but it wasn't something he actively hid, it was hidden for those that would get uncomfortable about it. He turned back to the blond boy, "So since you guys are interested in manga you could maybe help me out if you don't mind." But what would that offer the boys, he would maybe be able to get more novels. "I thought before about getting a table and stall the manga on there, what do you think?" There was space for a table to store it, the colourful factor was something to consider though.

Thoughtfully resting his gaze upon the shelf and peering over as Fion thumbed through the manga...he had a very valid point that despite the poor choice in placement, the product, themselves, were still properly taken care of. Everything was in good condition and he honestly didn't pick up on it right away...but there was a very subtle scent that was different in the store. Different, how, exactly was more like...the undertone of like someone was burning incense or as though someone had been lighting a candle? Or potpourri...something along those lines seemed to gently grace the store so at least it wasn't over powering...but sort of calming and as though it was adding on to the ambiance of the place?
[break][break]
Were all stores like this or just this one?
[break][break]
At this point, he was more invested in listening and less offering much of anything to say as he was soaking everything in. Huh...wait...did he just say a Wiccan shop and confirm that there was some brand of occult store? Not like it bothered the blonde boy, but he could imagine how his parents would probably be a bit baffled by their son's choice in bookstores off the bat. Though they weren't completely against such things and he had a mind willing to learn about things around the occult since what little he did read and know was interesting. They held such an interesting view of the world and how nature tied into magic among other things...so he didn't honestly see it as very harmful.
[break][break]
Besides, if the man had any ill intent, he wouldn't have been so open about the nature behind this store....
[break][break]
Fluttering his lashes in a series of confused blinks for a moment as he brought himself at full attention upon hearing the man's inquiry, he shifted his icy gaze toward the spot he was speaking of. "Oh...um...that may actually be a nice spot for it...and they may actually catch the eye of people who walk in depending on how you arrange it..." Sliding his hands into his pockets, he thoughtfully hummed beneath his breath then slowly found his eyes trailing toward the curtain dividing the store from occult and not quite for a short moment. Part of him pondered if maybe they should take a look since...well...he'd heard of bookstores and been in a few...but not one quite like this. In fact...there was an anime he was starting to look into that really fit the atmosphere of this store and he could have sworn they had a manga it was based off of... "Ah...out of curiosity, have you heard of Card Maiden Fubuki?"
[break][break]
It was a show about a girl who would use tarot cards and collect monsters through them...or something like that, he'd only recently looked into it! The artist, STAMP, had such a lovely art style, though and the way they translated it into the anime was quite lovely...

Seems Fion was pretty much spot on with his thoughts which was good to know but he was curious about the little side shop a wiccan shop huh? It sounded interesting maybe he'd come check it out on another day or something like that but who knows he does alot of things on a whim so it was pretty random. Fion then listened to the question about on if maybe putting a table up for the manga would be a good idea which Fion did agree would be helpful assuming it was well maintained which based on what he gathered from this stores owner it would be well taken care of.
"Sound like a pretty good idea lots of people like reading manga so making it easy to spot is helpful for sure. Also I might check out your wiccan stuff at some point always been a fan of weird occult stuff lots of history behind it."
Fion then heard Monty's comment about some card game he thinks he mentioned it at some point but wasn't fully sure it did sound interesting but this was a book store not really a game store though you never know. "Huh never thought of asking if he sold cards or anything like that hear I'm fairly curious aswell now."

Mamoru sometimes could be described as a go-getter. The fact that both boys seemed to have more knowledge about mangas and also seemed to appreciate how he worked with the store made it easier for the shop owner to ask the boys their opinion if he changed it. Seriously he should have done that the moment Poemu convinced him to buy manga because it was back to haunt him. Really why were pictures so interesting to read there were so many better things out there and he could point them out in this store. He wasn't going to do that or let it annoy him at this point he just pointed out that he could place a table over there more in the middle of the shop and stall them out again, could it still be on alphabetic order or did it need to be on the writer or what was the whole plan with those mangas? He was going to figure that out when he was further in the development of the new plan.
"There is definitely a lot of history behind it, feel free to check it out though. It's not that it's hidden because people can't go there but it makes some customers uncomfortable." But the purple was a nice indication to the occult as well as that the smell of incense in his store could be hard to miss, but those that did not notice such things and did not want to know were none the wiser. He turned back to the blond boy who asked him something about a manga that he might have. Telling a historian that there was a lot of history behind the things of the occult, sign him up man, he was ready. "Wait cards?" He thought that the blond boy meant a series and he had already hunched down to look at it and if he couldn't find it to look at the list of books he had.
Before he got up he noticed the pink colourful band of Fubuki so he grabbed it and held it up for the first and turned to Fion, "I thought he meant this but I do sell tarot cards and some... game cards but they are here." What was the game called, he did not remember but it did not matter at this point it was about two separate things right? Or was he losing his track of thought too fast already?
