APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Standing at one meter and seventy-three centimeters tall, Hifumi is quite easily recognized by her short silver-blue hair and grey eyes which always seem to have that twinkle of excitement or mischief in them. Despite her tall and lithe frame, it would be wrong to label Hifumi akin to a porcelain doll, for an observant eye will no doubt notice the traces of trained lean muscle, particularly on her legs and arms which have often been used during her training.
Once one goes beyond physical details, they will likely notice the fact that Hifumi tends to wear an assortment of clothes depending on the situation, from stylish streetwear to fancy dresses, but she is no doubt the most comfortable in sports wear, which shows in her rudimentary basic hero outfit, which is quite similar to the tracksuits at the hero academy, but with a reinforced vest underneath it. She also tends to wear heightened gloves during her assignments due to how they react well to her way of fighting. She also is prone to carrying a whip with her.

Personality:
Those who seen Hifumi, and experienced all facets of her nature will almost certainly agree that the mercenary they know is an enigmatic figure. Those who first meet her often label her as the classic gentlewoman, the stereotypical noblewoman who acts with a certain eloquence. Her cheerful and slightly playful demeanor tends to serve as an excellent means to interact with the younger crowds. Indeed, Hifumiusually appears as a cheerful and well-mannered young lady whose cheerful and suave attitude makes her easy to get along with.
To those who know her a little bit better, Hifumi also shows a deeply ingrained sense of a personal code of honor, the type of woman who is incapable of letting a slight go by unpunished. She's surprisingly mature and understanding, often displaying an aptitude for listening to people, and share in their emotions as if they were her own. But she also seems incredibly loyal to those she calls her friends.
But above all, Hifumi is an actor, and the earlier description is merely one of the countless masks she can put on if needed: The joker, the white knight, the kind younger sibling, the charming stranger and of course there's also the ruthless anti-hero. If there was a way to truly describe Hifumi, then perhaps the following might be the most genuine description of her true nature, at least if she still possesses that:
They say a lion doesn't know fear, and that the heart of a lion beats within Hifumi. Upholding with the descriptions of her heroic nature, Hifumi is a brave and courageous individual. However, this trait, against all expectations was not a natural thing for the woman to possess. Rather, it unfolded after the loss of her family where the only one she could still rely on within this cold and cruel world being her elder sibling Mamoru, the close camaraderie they held nurturing her growth into the woman she is today. Seeing him as an example in how he never cowered in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds or the fact she never was one to back off from a challenge, Hifumi is the type of woman who upholds the virtue of courage and admires it in others. However, most important is the knowledge that she would consider the lack of it a flaw.
While her past might have unfolded in a way she had not desired, the fact that she has been given a chance to resolve her old grudges in the form of a pro-hero has given Hifumi a passion for the unknown and challenges. She's the type of woman who is prone to travel to a foreign land, just to see what awaits her there. In the end, if she refused to explore the possibilities her new life has to offer then she would end up getting at a standstill, and everyone knows that in a world like ours moving forwards is necessary if you wish to survive.
Curiously enough her suave attitude is not a disguise; she truly is a confident and pleasant to interact with woman. The type of person you can easily converse with while she displays a relaxed and often delightfully social demeanor. Not only that, but as a woman of her age, she knows all too well that the right compliment at the right time can cause a situation to turn into her favor.
Having experienced firsthand what sort of things can happen to a person when they are encouraged and helped one can say that Hifumi is sometimes prone to take on a distant mentor-like attitude toward those she considers weaker than her, especially children. In the end, she considers it a mutually beneficial choice, because the weaker individual increased their chance for survival, and she herself obtains a potential ally. However, her method of encouragement might be a bit harsh, for she believes that people nurture the best on barren soil, and that means to improve from enduring hardships.
An aspect of her personality that tends to naturally blend in with her pride, Hifumi is often rather arrogant in the sense that she overestimates herself. She might not think lowly of others; it's just that she thinks really highly about herself. As someone who often stood in the spotlight, only outmatched by her brother caused Hifumi to manifest this trait. She often considers herself capable of doing more than people imagine she can, and often this manifests in her inability to properly calculate her own capacities when it comes to a battle.
Associated to the fact she lost her parents during an Anti-Quirker protest by means of an accident caused by villains. This personal grudge has made Hifumi often become prone to seeing things a lot more negatively than they are when things turn out in a way she didn't expect them to be. However, it's also that regret that turns into pessimism, which serves as an unhealthy stimulant for Hifumi to to move forward. In the end, with a regretful past, it's not exactly like she has much to lose by moving forwards.
The type of woman who lives in the here and now Hifumi is often prone to act the moment an opportunity shows itself rather than waiting to see things. While this might conflict with her deceptive nature the fact she’s impulsive also opens a certain sense of training in thinking on the move.
While this only happens to those who challenged her or otherwise tried to oppose her Hifumi tends to allow herself to show a certain mean streak to her at times. Sadistic in terms of enjoying the sight of humiliating her enemies in the attempt to make them know their place upon defeat by her hands Hifumi might not be the type of woman who’d mindlessly kill someone who crossed her path, but her fallen enemies can certainly expect not to leave without a fair share of mental or physical humiliation.
While she does not develop a grudge quickly, the moment she does one is pretty much guaranteed it will last until the day one of them dies. In the end, the loss of her beloved parents at what she considers mutual responsibility by the Quirkless rioters and the villains has left quite an emotional scar on the young lady.

HISTORY
Born as the youngest of the two Inukai siblings, one could say that Hifumi had a fairly simple childhood. Despite the fact that both she and her elder brother Mamoru were the first generation of Quirkers within their family, it was fortunate that the siblings were blessed with kind and understanding parents. Indeed, rather than trying to force them to hide their nature as Quirkers, the two were encouraged from an early age to learn from it, to their family a Quirk was a blessing, a power gifted to them by the evolution of mankind, and with power comes responsibility, something the siblings were taught to never forget.
In her early years, Hifumi showed a cheerful and affectionate side to her, one that often was spoiled by both her parents and elder brother alike. When it came to her Quirk, Hifumi was an early one to awaken it, although it was something of a complicated one. Fundamentally it worked similar to telekinesis, but instead it focused on the concept of motion and the child's ability to alter said concept by means of directional arrows which she could manifest in the palms of her hands. However, aside from the typical curiosity of a child when it came to her Quirk, Hifumi never had really thought about some grand ambitions like becoming a hero. No, instead she was content in helping her parents in their herb store which they owned in Musutafu, or during her free time visit the library for her other hobby: reading. Hifumi was the classic definition of a bookworm, she was someone who went through books as Thunder Shock goes through women.
However, everything changed for the siblings eight years ago. Back when she was fourteen years old Hifumi and her brother suffered a personal tragedy when her parents got caught in an accident in the midst of a crossfire between Anti-Quirker protests and Villains that were attempting to rill them up further. This changed things remarkably for Hifumi, who blamed both criminals and Quirkless alike for the loss of her beloved parents, and while Mamoru did his best to shield her from the suffering, the emotional damage had its consequences. Hifumi changed... not on the surface, for she still acted the same as she usually did, but she became more calculating and manipulative in her actions, and upon graduating high school had seemingly chosen a new path:
She wanted to become a lawyer so she could ensure all criminals would be punished, no matter what. It was during her time studying law that Hifumi developed a name for herself as a dedicated student, some would even call her zealous in her studies. It came as no surprise then, that when she graduated at the age of twenty, that the young lady became a prosecutor, and indeed during her career was responsible for the imprisonment of a fair amount of small-time criminals. But it was also during that time she felt a certain discomfort, all her successes, while praisable were not involving the true scum of the underworld, big time villains who seemingly were quite skilled at escaping the iron fist of the law. It was at that time the thought of vigilantism had entered her mind, if not for the fact she had been fortunate enough to learn that in the last year the Public Safety Commission's Hero Oversight Committee had launched a new program: an examination for Quirkers to become Pro-heroes. Being legalized to help apprehend the villains she sought to bring to justice sounded like a dream come true, and while she was quite an inexperienced person when it came to physical conflict, Hifumi was confident that with enough practice and the right attitude she could get there.
It was at the same time Mamoru had returned from his time abroad that Hifumi had started training to become a pro-hero, at first trying to hone her combat skills by frequently visiting the gym, getting some first-hand experience as a side-kick for some local heroes and it was after three years that her instructors believed she was ready for the test. At first Mamoru tried to convince her to not to go through with her idea, going as far as converting their herb store into a bookstore in the hope of reigning in Hifumi's grudge at the loss of their parents, and while it worked to a degree, as she showed a glimpse of her old self while helping him tend to the store, she still went through with her application for the Hero-Program, and fortunately passed it.
It took a while for her to decide on a proper hero-name, after all, for a hero a suitable name was like a logo for a store, something important and so she decided on something catchy and fitting: Inverse, a reference to her Quirk. It is during the year of 2074 that Hifumi Inukai finally became a part of the hero program, and while as Inverse she wished to prevent others from suffering the same fate as she did, she did cleverly conceal her dislike of the Quirkless and her obsession with arresting big-name criminals. And outside of her career as a Pro-hero Hifumi Inukai continuously showed that when she was in the courthouse, no villain would receive an innocent verdict.
