Over the last couple of days, Jack found himself in the biggest depressive state of his life. He's been erratic and irritable, unstable and angry. Of course, no one particularly faulted him for these emotions; well, all except one, but Jack didn't like to think about that jackass. They knew something was up, and so they left him be for the most part, unless he requested a friend to come and spend time with him. He was grateful to those that were actually willing to put up with him; Chimera for being there for him in general all the way, Kiersa for coming to comfort him in his extremely down moment the day before, and Fion for giving him more things to hunt for and keep himself distracted.
However...at least, to the Disciplinary Committee, some knew well about what exactly what plighting the young dragon boy. Meara, his girlfriend, his love...she was gone. Most likely kidnapped, due to the hit list that was put out by the villain Ishtar. Damn that bitch...putting a hit list out on KIDS? Heroes at the bare minimum he could get; that was just how the job was sometimes. But to have the gall to even think about putting students at risk like that, all to stoke her pathetic ego...
Jack lightly roared in anger as he thought more and more about it. He paced back and forth at the exit to the school grounds. He wasn't necessarily there to leave on his own or anything; he was just trying to get his head straight. Later, he decided, he was going to talk to Mr. Kobayashi and see if he could get the proper permission to leave campus with a hero or DC member...or anyone, really. He wanted to get out there, to do SOMETHING to aid the search for his love. It was HIS responsibility. He blamed himself for her kidnapping, even if nothing could really have been done to begin with.
It just made him angrier.
"Just...THINK, you damnable idiot!" he snarled to himself, bonking the front of his head while he paced. He was primarily just trying to think about how to go about the whole matter. Ok, just go talk to the principal, convince him to try and let him help, maybe get Red Horn or Hellhound or Surperior...or ANYONE to come with him. That being said, to anyone that may be walking by or even watching him, it could appear that he was trying to decide whether he should go out without permission or not. After all, it was a logical conclusion: the boy was still emotionally unstable, and thanks to Tetsuko's warning, there were likely DC members watching him even now, not wanting to take the chance of him leaving and potentially screwing everything up.
He wouldn't blame them, even if he did know about it. Jack would have acted the same; hell, he has in the past. It still didn't stop him for at least trying to get his thoughts straight.

Jack was well known to be an impulsive kind of person, and the current circumstances leant themselves very well to him going off and doing something ill advised. As such, the Disciplinary Committee had decided to keep an eye on him to make sure he wasn't going to go off on a half-baked plan of rescue and/or revenge. As one of the stealthier members of the Committee, Luka had volunteered to keep an eye on the draconic student where possible, knowing that he might end up getting aggressive at being watched, but equally knowing that if he wasn't watched he might do something less intelligent in his desire to do something.
He had anticipated Jack's course when the other boy had stormed out, and as such had quickly made his way to the entrance morphing into a small stone in the garden right by the gate. Luka had gotten a lot better at his disguises since he first learned this trick, and so he was fairly confident that he didn't stand out as anything other than another stone in the garden.
The slime boy watched carefully and cautiously as Jack came up to the gate and began to pace in front of it, his body tense and ready to move should the dragon decide that he was going to leave the school grounds. He didn't want to move too soon, to give Jack plenty of time to step back and avoid the possible consequences of being caught sneaking out of the school to rescue his girlfriend. He didn't want to accidentally start something if the other teen wasn't actually trying to go cause trouble after all. Luka might have been on the Disciplinary Committee but he liked to consider himself a fair person. That meant not making assumptions about someone, and innocent until proven guilty. Jack hadn't done anything wrong at this point, and Luka didn't intend to back him into a corner and escalate the situation by accusing him of anything. That wouldn't be very fair of him.
Still... it was Jack, who knew how the other teen would ultimately react. Sometimes he was very predictable, others the exact opposite. The predictability definitely led him here to the gate, but Luka had absolutely no idea if he'd end up trying to cross that final threshold. He hoped it didn't come to that, because then Luka would have to try and stop him, and it would get messy. It didn't help that he'd not actually seen Jack fight, so he had no idea what the dragon was capable of. It worked both ways of course, but Luka didn't like the idea of going in blind and risking it. So he'd sit here for now, watching carefully and waiting to see what would happen. Would he need to step in? Would the other boy walk away in the end? There wasn't any real way for him to tell, so he needed to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Story of his life.

Jack growled more and more in anger as he paced. He tried desperately to get his thoughts straight, to fight down the unstable emotions within his heart. He wanted nothing more than to spring out of those gates and go searching for Meara right there and then. He was his duty...no, his responsibility to go out and find her! It was his fault for not being there when she needed him the most - it was his job to make things right. Damn the villains that took her. He wouldn't even bother with them if he could avoid it. If they stood in his way...he would make sure they would regret it.
Jack roared a little once more and violently shook his head. NO, YOU FUCKING MORON. Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement! Without proper guidance, we'll just be a burden. Is that what Meara would want??? he thought, mentally scolding himself. He just needed to WAIT. Why was that so hard??? They won't let him go if he continues to act like this, so he needed to relax. He needed to breathe, to clear his head.
For a moment, that what he actually seemed to do. He stopped dead in his tracks, looking up at the sky. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He seemed to meditate for a moment while he stood. He took in the feeling of the wind in his hair, on his horns and on his face. He took a deep breath, exhaling a massive puff of steam. For a split second, his body relaxed, and he just seemed to stand like a statue for a moment...
However, his thoughts were quickly drowned in anger once more, his horns turning a crimson red, the boy shaking in anger. "GOD DAMMIT!!!!!" he exclaimed, kicking a rock that was near his foot as hard as he could, likely sending it flying...of course, being completely unaware to the fact that the rock was actually a person. Then again, why would he have guessed that?
He stomped on the the ground a couple of time, sending out a flood of slurs and insults in Spanish. After a minute, Jack finally seemed to calm down, plopping down onto the ground and burying his face in his knees. "Why does this all have to be so hard...? I just want to go and help, but I can't even seem to do THAT right..." he moaned, beginning to sob heavily into his legs. The amount of anger and sadness he showed was bigger than any amount he had shown previously. He did still seem to have some amount of sense, though - it was just a matter of if someone could snap him back into proper focus or not.

Of all the outcomes that Luka had been expecting, getting punted across the yard was not one of them. Perhaps he should have settled in the garden a little further away from the gate, or anchored himself down... or anything. Alas, he had only a few seconds of quick regret before he slammed into the wall near the gate, his rock disguise failing as his slimy body splattered across the wall in an almost comical fashion, looking like the nickolodeon logo in a blue tone. "Ooof...." the slime uttered, sliding slowly down the wall and regathering his body back into an orb of gel that shook itself slightly to try and recover his mental state.
"Kicking innocent rocks is pretty mean you know" he declared, deciding to try and play stupid for now and see how Jack reacted to all this. He honestly couldn't predict where this was going to go, and he felt his body tense up in preparation for possibly having to defend himself from a worried and pissed off dragon-boy. Not exactly his idea of a good time, but if it kept the Second Year from getting in trouble for leaving the campus then... well, he'd consider it worth it. Still, that kick had definitely hurt, and he didn't really want to get mauled to the point that recovery was going to take him a long time.
It was fairly obvious that the other boy was in a pretty bad state right now, and he wasn't quite sure how best to approach the situation, so many words that came to mind had the chance to be taken the complete wrong way and he couldn't quite find the right way to navigate the conversational minefield that lay before him. It didn't help that he was currently plopped in the path between Jack and the gate, not really an intentional move to block the draconic boy, it had just been the quickest way to get off the wall and out of the garden. So there the slime sat, a simple orb of goo looking out from two slits in a rather ambivalent expression.
He thought about addressing the elephant in the room, but that had the potential of making things worse... just like everything else he could think of saying. It was important, he needed to figure out a smart way to maybe defuse the intense atmosphere. What could he say to do that though?
"It's a pretty nice night out, right?"
Nailed it.
