Training Facilitation Structure UA002 (location)
Training Facilitation Structure UA002, also known as "Fort Slog" is a semi-automated modular structure developed by the Public Safety Commission in conjunction with UA High School and ASTA Corporation. The six story structure is designed as a testing ground and training facility for the use of UA students and even functions as a post-licensure continuing education facility for Pro-Heroes. It is notable for the variable difficulty levels and stringent standards of success employed within. The structure was completed during the summer of 2074 with many of the core design choices being made by the Faculty of UA High, most notably the Pro Hero, Geist. Description Fort Slog as it is commonly known is a three tier ziggurat that appears externally to be made of steel and glass, giving it a highly reflective surface. Located in Ground Alpha on the UA Campus, the structure has a center stage for the UA Hero Training Program. Each tier is comprised of numerous modular rooms and removable walls that can be adjusted to simulate nearly any scenario in the outside world. The operative goal of making a "run" on Fort Slog is to ascend the tower to the highest level, overcoming the obstacles put in the way. Doing so within the designated time limit constitutes a completed run. Depending on the difficulty this can be seen as a demonstration that the student is ready to move on to the next year. Fort Slog is open seven days a week as long as there is an instructor present. A student can submit a request to go on a run and take the month's course at an appropriate difficulty to their school level. Students can take runs at any time at this way and repeat runs in order to practice. | FT SLOG Type: Training Installation Faction: Heroes Completed: 207 Location: Ground Alpha, Musutafu, Japan Resident Instructor: Aquitaine |
Difficulty Levels Basic As the name suggests, Basic or Basic Training is the lowest level difficulty course that Fort Slog provides. Most encounters on basic are of E to D rank and the course itself is considered to be very difficult for a First Year student. Even so, the number of traps and rooms on Basic are heavily reduced and Basic is more often than not used as a tool for mastering new techniques and skills rather than a true obstacle course. Normal This is the default difficulty that Fort Slog operates on. All encounters on Normal are considered of the D rank, there are considerably more traps and rooms compared to basic but it is considered manageable for a second year student. Most Second Years will spend their time on normal, testing and retesting until they can comfortably complete normal routes. Obstacles can result in minor injuries on Normal. Hard This is the highest level difficulty that a UA Student can complete before earning the right to graduate. All of the encounters on Hard are D rank with a few C rank in difficulty but the number of traps, obstacles, and overall length of the course have been dramatically increased. Second Year Students often work their way toward attempts at Hard Difficulty with Third Years regularly participating in Hard Runs to prepare for their final exam. Hard was often referred to by the testers as a "slog" and it is how the facility got it's name. Rookie Ultimately, a UA Student's goal is to complete, on their own, a single run on Rookie Difficulty. Compared to Hard, Rookie is designed to have mostly C rank encounters. A student that completes the run has proven that they have the skills of a Rookie Pro-Hero and are worthy, as far as the combat training program is concerned, of a Pro-Hero License and the right to graduate from UA High School. Rookie difficulty an enormous leap from Hard compared to the Normal Hard leap and Third Years may have difficulty even completing the first tier of the run on their first attempt. The traps involved with Rookie can cause serious injury, be careful. Heroic Many Pro-Heroes come to Fort Slog to practice and undergo refresher courses on certain skills while honing other abilities that they may have acquired as they slipped into the roles as full Pros. Heroic difficulty is a flat B level run and it is against Government, PSC, and UA regulations for a student to take the run, even with supervision. |
