Heaving a sigh Elise stretched her arms into the air, attempting to push the drowsiness out of her body. How many hours had passed since she last slept? All that time she and Nimue had worked on discussing the theories and treatments they had been working on, but right now? They were stuck in a stalemate. The primary obstacle in unifying treatment through the healing properties of Quirks was the fact that the body considered most of those substances foreign. She had some strategies in mind, but most of those were too imperfect. Melody's Quirk would be difficult to apply on a medicinal level, and she lacked data on Angelica's capacities. Then one option she had taken into consideration was Rin Kurama, her quirk was ideal for dealing with this problem that in simple terms could be called a 'compatibility issue'. Rin's blood possessed a peculiar trait: adaptability. It was able to adapt to the patient, altering in nature so that it was no longer considered a foreign presence. However, she had no idea where Rin had disappeared to.
The last thing she heard was that Rin had gone to the states with Jasmine, so when she heard the news that Jasmine had returned from aboard on her own? She was as confused as could be. Where did Rin Kurama disappear to? She could inquire with the Principal, but she wasn't sure he would have any information to share with her that she didn't already know. Which meant her only option was to ask Jasmine directly.
Thinking back on it, it had been a long time since they had talked, but fortunately, it took only a quick login on her Public Safety Commission account and accessing the student chat for her to reach out to Jasmine, inviting the fiery lioness over to a small dining place quite close to the hospital.
Still, considering her shifts, the time Elise arrived at their meeting place, the pink-haired lass was still dressed in her work attire for the Public Safety Commission, the stylish black coat fluttering lightly in the wind. A cursory glance was made around the area, wondering if she had arrived first and soon she took a place in one of the booths near one of the windows. She wasn't sure how to best approach this: perhaps some friendly chatter to open the conversation and then get to the point? She did remember how Jasmine disapproved of the concept of 'acting' differently than one was, and fortunately, Elise saw no need to put up facades. Well, at least not outside of her business as Spymaster.
From what Tetsu had mentioned she seemed to be getting along with Jasmine, which made her at least hopeful that this meeting would be one on good terms. And who knows, perhaps they both had their share of stories to share and questions to ask. As the waitress approached Elise shook her head lightly, explaining she was waiting for someone to come and would order once she got there.

Holding onto the handrail inside the public train, Jasmine had still been staring at her phone, rereading the messages she'd received from none other than Elise Von Eisenberg, someone she sincerely didn't expect would reach out to her. In her mind, the wolf never would've thought the girl would even want to speak to her given what had happened between them in the past. Jasmine wasn't exactly a subtle person back then and given the situation they were in she likely handled everything so very wrong.
What would she want to talk about? What was there to talk about between them? Friendly banter? Doubtful. They weren't exactly what one would consider close. The only plausible reason that the third year could come up with was Rin. As far as she remembered the two girls were close... barring that one time after that very same event.
The wolf sighed to herself quietly. She was overthinking things. Whatever it was that Elise wanted/needed, Jasmine wasn't about to refuse if it was in her capacity to assist. She glanced out the window of the train to stare at the scenery passing her by. Wasn't far now.
Jasmine fixed up her leather jacket as she stepped out of the train and pocketed her phone inside her jeans' pocket. Boots clung against the pavement as she approached the instructed area, quickly noticing a mop of pink hair talking to a waitress.
"A coffee please. Black," she said just before the waitress left, smiling as she sat down right in front of her ex-peer. "You getting anything, miss fancy Public Safety?" Yeah, the coat wasn't unnoticed. Since when did governments issue actually cool outfits? She wanted one. "Or are you just gonna stare at me while I enjoy my brew?"
Once the pinkette would get her order, Jasmine would offer a warm smile. "Hi Ellie. How are you?" she'd ask, calling her by the same nickname she used to way back when. "Excuse the grey hair. Got old."

When a familiar voice called out Elise lifted her gaze, and although she merely smiled calmly she had to admit she was slightly surprised. There was no denying that the facial features belonged to the young woman known as Jasmine Noir, but there was something different to them compared to the last time she had seen her. It wasn't just the grey hair, no it was more of a difficult to describe feeling. A certain calmness, a sense of maturity that in the past would have made little sense to be associated to the explosive lioness.
"Heh~ I wouldn't mind doing that, but then I might get Tetsu to complain at me~" She nodded at the waitress, ordering some tea while her gaze turned back toward Jasmine as Jasmine inquired about how she had been doing, the little comment about her grey hair and getting old earning a soft snicker from the Eisenberg. "It fits your look~ Hopefully, the age came with the wisdom~" A brief grin lingered on her lips as she jested in kin.
"I been doing alright, in terms of my personal life I got little reason to complain, well aside from the fact I wish the school year was already over so Tetsu would move in with me. In terms of work? That's another story~" She laughed weakly as she decided to soon clarify afterward. "It's been quite a handful, in the wake of Ishtar's bounties I was assigned to assist the school in keeping an eye out for the students their safety, but you know how your schoolmates are~ Rebbelous at their best, and actively seeking out danger at their worst. I don't think we should treat them like children, but many of them underestimate the danger that villains can be. I don't want to wake up to hear the news one of the students was kidnapped again, or worse... killed."
She sighed deeply yet tried her best to lift the mood again shortly afterward. "How about you? Have you been able to get used to things again? I do hear that there is quite a culture shock between Japan and the states." She didn't know for sure if now was the good time, but she also expected that Jasmine wasn't the type to prefer such delicacy by beating around the subject. "I have to admit I was quite surprised when you returned by yourself. Did something happen to Rin-chan?" By the time she had asked the question her smile had faded and a thoughtful frown was upon her visage. Perhaps she was overthinking stuff, but it just felt odd that Rin Kurama had not been with Jasmine, there was something that didn't make sense, she doubted those two were the type to get into a lasting fight or argument, so she had hoped that Jasmine would have some sort of clue or information for her to go by. Nonetheless, as she pondered those thoughts the waitress had arrived with their drinks, giving them at least a chance to enjoy a drink while talking.

The first thing Jasmine had noticed when she first laid eyes on Elise was exactly how much she had changed. It wasn't in her appearance -- though that has changed significantly -- and it wasn't in the way she carried herself either. The latter part had pretty much stayed intact all throughout the time Jasmine's known the girl. No, what changed was... well, it was a little difficult for the wolf to put her finger on it exactly. It was the air about her. How she carried herself. If she were to hinder a guess, Elise matured probably in the same vein that Jasmine herself had.
They weren't exactly the same naive brats they were almost two years ago, huh? She couldn't help but chuckle to herself quietly at the thought.
Another short snicker left her, "Oh wow. Tetsu's the jealous type? Never would've thought," she commented with some amusement behind her voice. By this point the wolf had leaned back in her seat, feeling herself relax a little. She was still as alert as she always was, to be sure... but in this particular moment the girl let herself breathe a little. "Wisdom? Me? Whoever'd make that association I'd brand a moron," she grinned. "But thanks. It, uh... it took a little while to get used to."
The wolf listened quietly, nodding along as Elise spoke. It was... kind of strange. She knew Elise was a... chipper, let's say, girl, and that talking to people and/or making friends was easy for her. Jasmine also figured that the pinkette wasn't exactly someone who held grudges. Unless you somehow hurt Tetsuko, of course. The two of them were very similar in that regard -- the protective instinct they held whenever they significant others were concerned. And yet Jasmine had still been... well, she'd expected some form of a cold shoulder from her given their bumpy ride with Rin, which, admittedly, was because of Jasmine being an idiot.
But, well... if she wasn't going to mention it, the wolf sure as shit wasn't either.
Jasmine snorted, "Hah, yeah. I had actually kind of expected them to have grown up a little during the time I wasn't here. Sure as shit they're still the same dramatic teenagers as they ever were," an overexagerrated sigh left the ashen haired lass as she shook her head. "With this whole Ishtar wanted list business, Thunder being a jackass and all that other nonsense going around, you'd think they'd focus on what they actually came to the school for. Times are strange."
"I don't want to see that either. I guess that's why the people with half a brain cell need to actually do something, huh?" She half-joked/half-stated. Probably could've worded herself better but hey, that's how Jasmine lifted the mood.
She hummed, "Well, the culture shock isn't really an issue, to be honest with you," she admitted. "The only time it was really bad... weird... whatever you want to call it, was when I first moved here during our freshman year. After that I kinda just... got used to it, I guess. Coming back to America was great. Nostalgia galore. But, to be honest with you? I think I consider this place more home than over there. Feel more at ease here, y'know? Adapted quickly when I got back a couple of months ago. Still getting used to there barely being any people I was close to back then around anymore, though," this was where Jasmine's mood had plummeted a little. Only a little, though.
That is, until Elise's next question followed. The wolf's eyes very visibly widened for the briefest of moments, yet her sharp emeralds quickly settled. She leaned forward, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. A soft sigh left her as she took a few moments to collect herself, letting the warm breeze tickle the tips of her ashen hair.
"Rin's not here, I... I don't really know where she is," Jasmine explained, eyes following the line she was tracing along the edges of her cup of coffee. "A few things happened in New York that I'm not sure you're fully aware of." Her eyes glanced up to make contact with Elise. She was with the Public Safety Commission. Relaying this information might not be the best idea. At least, not the full version where Jasmine herself could be indicted. "You saw what happened in Madison Square Garden a bit more than half a year back? The terrorist attack? Rin and I were there. Don't ask me why, please. That's... not a story I feel like sharing just yet."
"Suffice it to say that whole shitshow went south faster than you ever did on Tetsuko or vice versa," a jab, to lighten the mood... though Jasmine said it with such a straight face a smile seemed like a foreign concept. "I ended up in a coma. Brain damaged. Hell, declared brain dead. Three months later, though? Voila, I'm back up again almost as if I've never been gone... well, minus the muscle atrophy from lying in bed motionless for so long. That's when this -" she pointed a finger at her hair and eyes, "- happened. And Rin... Rin was gone. Doctors said she'd been there with me, by my bedside all throughout those three months, but when I woke up she was gone without a trace."
"Tried looking for her. Boy did I try. I'm still trying. Nada. Zilch. Not a goddamn thing that would tell me if she's even alive, let alone where. But I can't..." her brows furrowed. "For the life of me I can't shake this feeling that she's still alive. And no, it's not some... false hope or prayer of a lover or whatever other nonsense. No, please. I'm not that dumb. No, it's an honest to God feeling, I... I can't really explain it, but I know she's alive. Somewhere."
The bond. Rin had spoken of the bond to her a number of times, suggested to her that they do it... and the more days pass, the more Jasmine can't help but think that said bond was the reason she woke up from that blasted coma in the first place.

There was some irony in the fact that the two had changed so much since they last met. Just like Jasmine had changed in certain ways, so did Elise and yet fascinatingly enough there were still parts that were similar. Perhaps it was their age, the experiences they had gone through that had forced them to grow up, to mature faster than most of their former classmates. Indeed, when exposed to the harsh nature of reality the two of them had no means of remaining the same naive children they had once been. And in Elise's case she had been forced to acknowledge the fact that her idealistic views were just that: idealistic. She shouldn't expect that she could change the world to fit those, but she'd sure as hell would try to change things for the better.
Hearing Jasmine snicker at her joke Elise nodded her head, her lips curving back into a sheepish grin as she replied to the comment. "She might not look like it, nor show it but when it comes to me she can get jealous. It's a bit of an endearing charm of her." She mused, the memory of their date during Golden Week stirring in her thoughts. The moment where Tetsuko had leaned in and whispered into her ear how she disliked all the attention because she wanted her all for herself? It had been enough to make Elise blush intensely back then, and nowadays the memory filled her with a certain joyous warmth that only Tetsuko could provide her.
Jasmine's remark on the concept of wisdom being a weird association with her earned a soft chuckle from Elise who mused softly. "I shouldn't be surprised considering one of your mentors was Jaeger after all~" True, the two of them had this interesting thing. A certain type of street smarts that made them clever, but not exactly wise either, reckless sometimes, but they nearly always had a plan to get out of a mess.
Jasmine's thoughts were correct, it was a bit odd even for her: She might had been chipper and in some ways talking to people and attempting to make friends felt natural to her, she was not exactly someone who would hold a grudge unless one was responsible for hurting Tetsuko or someone else who was dear to her. Still, it was only natural that Jasmine might had expected to receive some form of a cold shoulder given their past, and yet it didn't seem to be the case. Why? Because in a way, Elise was grateful to Jasmine. Her actions had led Elise to realize things, had allowed her bond with Tetsuko to blossom and in a way, Jasmine's actions that night had been part of what led to the fact that Elise was now in a relationship with her childhood love. If anything, in the past she might have held a grudge, but now? Now she only felt gratitude.
"Heh~ I'm afraid it will take more for them to grow up. But you have a point, you would expect that with villains getting bolder, the students would realize the need to learn, to prepare for their future as the next generation of heroes. Instead, we get bickering kids and lover quarrels every day. Almost makes me wonder if I'm watching one of those television shows, and not one of the fun type." Yes, Jasmine was right, it was up to people like them who understood the danger that something had to be done, something to keep those foolish teenagers from getting themselves killed.
So Jasmine had grown used to Japan? She guessed a few years could have done that, after all Elise had lived in Japan for more than eleven years already and considered it more of a home compared to Germany where her roots had been. Elise remained quiet, allowing Jasmine the time to talk. Rin wasn't here, and Jasmine had no idea where she went? Elise nodded her head lightly in response to the events at Madison Square Garden. "Mhmm, I remember, it was around the time I transferred into my apprenticeship within the Public Safety Commission."
She remembered the news, about a terrorist attack that had happened there, still what followed was quite surprising. Although Jasmine's attempt to lighten the mood was appreciated, the serious look upon the girl's features was evident of how focused she had been. So Jasmine had ended up in a comatose, her brain-damaged and the doctors had declared her brain dead? Sounded familiar, but she quickly pushed the gloomy thought aside as Jasmine explained how she had woken up from her comatose as if she had taken an extended nap, a feat that by all means was by regular medical science impossible to explain.
"One hell of a nap." Elise muttered softly, a hand raised to her cheek as she pondered. "As a brain surgeon I can tell you that if they declare you brain dead, the chance for you to recover by means of traditional surgeries are as low as me ever getting into a straight relationship." Despite the jest it was true, such extensive damage was borderline impossible to recover from, yet when Jasmine commented about her hair and eyes she mused softly. "Hmm, that would explain a lot. I recall Rin-chan's Quirk and its medical capacities, it's not too far-fetched to say that she used her Quirk to bring you back."
She paused for a bit, pondering on how to explain the next part in easier terms. "Simply said, extensive exposure to another person's Quirk can lead to lingering effects. For example, while I can't exactly show it- since turning into my true form will likely cause a bit of panic, or excitement from monster museum fans, I possess traces of Tetsuko's iron, I'll leave the how-to to your imagination~"
She smiled briefly, yet her smile faded soon afterward. "It's a possibility that there are traces of Rin's Quirk within you, and this feeling? This feeling that she might be alive? Some might describe it a bond, sounds romantic although the scientific explanation is that the fragments of the person's Quirk inside you is pulling you subtly toward its owner, like a magnet. I feel the same with Tetsu, so there is some reassurance in the fact that as long as you have that feeling, the chance that she is alive is to be quite strong."
She went quiet, pondering about the next course of action. "Truth to be told, I'm not sure where she would be either. I don't think Touma has anymore info that you aren't already aware of, and while I can check at work I'm not sure..."
It was then an idea hit her. "Perhaps... it's not much, but I might be able to find a way to reassure you that she is alive. But for that, I'm going to need your cooperation, and fortunately, it will help me also since I was working on something that will benefit immensely from those tests."

"No, it goes a little deeper than that..." Jasmine replied, thinking over what Elise was saying. Rin herself had studies how quirk inheritance worked -- she remembered all the times her little raven sunk into incoherent rants over the topic the more she dug into them. Always the scientist, that one. Regardless, what Elise was saying wasn't entirely what happened - at least not from what Jasmine herself knew of the 'bond.'
The ashen haired wolf had grown quiet for a few brief moments. Her eyes occasionally glanced over at Elise, then down to her coffee. At Elise. Back to the coffee. It was almost as though the third year U.A. student was internally debating whether or not she should share what she knew.
Her lovely Rinnie was the best medical scientist Jasmine ever knew. That was a given and ultimately a fact. Yet... Elise was no pushover either. Even back in their first year, the pinkette would often work with Rin and Nimue in the infirmary. Admittedly that's where a little feud between Elise and Jasmine had also sprung up, but that was neither here nor there. Even back then Elise was quite gifted at the art. Given that more than a whole year had already passed, there was no telling how far the girl had come. She surely knew her stuff, if Jasmine were to wager a guess based simply on how she spoke.
Aside Nimue -- and that one is less a friend and more an officer of the law who'd likely report Jasmine -- who else was there who could actually -really help the wolf out?
She sighed.
All in it is.
"When I say 'bond,' I don't mean in the scientific sense that you've seen before and understood," the third year began, her tone a little quiet as she sipped on her coffee. At a glance the nineteen-year-old would've seemed a little uneasy, and by all accounts you wouldn't be wrong to assume that. This was Rin they were talking about. Her everything.
"Rin's quirk... what you've probably heard from her or seen in action pales in comparison to what it can actually do. The possibilities of her blood manipulation are nearly limitless in terms of where the human body is concerned."
"She..." the girl paused to take a sip of her coffee, taking some time to formulate her next sentences. "Rinnie thought the possibility was there for a long time, but it wasn't until late Winter - just before I went down - that she told me she'd hit a breakthrough. She studied all of those 'magnetic' possibilities of blood mixing together and had come up with an actual technique to make it happen. Not accidental. Very deliberate."
"Essentially, what Rin would be able to do is to very literally share her quirk with others. It wouldn't actually give them any of the abilities that she has, but it would undoubtedly..." she sighed again. "Change your physical properties," she blew a strand of once blonde and now silver hair out of her face, "and induce an extreme healing factor - comparable to Rin's own - onto the subject given a command from the source -- in this case Rin -- to the blood cells that she's injected you with."
Her eyes met Elise's, "Catch my drift?"
"What Rin also told me is that this bond would effectively make her hyper aware of my presence," she said. "She could literally feel me when I'm close. When I'm far away. When I'm in pain. When I feel good. When I'm sad. When I'm happy. Like a damn turbo GPS she would know exactly where I am and exactly how I'm feeling." Another pause, glancing sideways at a passing car. "Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating the 'exactly' part, but you get what I'm saying. In any case, this was... well, as you can tell, a lot to deal with. Even if you love that person, giving them the ability to tell literally everything about you, your feelings and thoughts just by being relatively close to you was... a lot to consider."
The wolf paused again, allowing for that information to sink in and for Elise to process it and make of it what she would. "Given the... 'miraculous' nature of how I woke up and how much my appearance has changed, I'd wager Rin did exactly that. I... I know her. She wouldn't want to live in a reality which I'm not a part of and if I were in her shoes I'd've done the exact same thing regardless if she'd wanted it or not." She chuckled, "I guess we're both selfish like that."
"So what I'm guessing is... she stuck around for a few months, maybe wanted to see if my condition would change for the better... or in the worst case scenario - worsen, making her maybe change the way she'd approach the procedure - fuck if I know. But then... then... I'm sure. I'm sure she did it. That's really the only feasible explanation I can think of as to why I was even able to wake up the way I did. Even the doctors didn't know what the fuck happened. As for why I am able to feel something extra..."
"I'd honestly wager it on being an unintended side-effect of the procedure. This was the first time Rin had ever done something like this. There was no real way to be sure what'd happen. But what I'm absolutely certain of is that this feeling is one hundred percent pointing back to her. It's... too strange to be anything else."
Another sip of coffee. She was talking a lot. Yet her eyes lit up when Elise mentioned possibly being able to assist her. The wolf wasn't a jerk-reaction type of persona, though. No, she hesitated, even if just a little. "I'm definitely down to help, especially if it helps me find clues to Rin's whereabouts in return, but..." she snorted in ironic amusement. "Well, given everything that's happened and all of these illegal procedures, I'd probably like to first know what I'm signing up for, y'know?"
