"Well I was planning on getting a van at some point, but... I think I'd honestly miss the running!" She had her bike, but every since she met Yumi she'd been getting more and more deliveries. At this rate she'd need the van just for extra storage at the office, nevermind actually delivering them! Honestly it'd be nice to hire a part-timer as well; someone without a lot of the Hero stuff to do so she wasn't overloading them. As much as she'd want to ask Kirk, the guy was set and ready to become a full blown Hero in a few months, probably better to ask someone else.
His assurances about Yumi though... those were extremely welcome. He knew her better than Kai did; I mean they'd been classmates for three years and apparently friends that whole time it only made sense he'd seen her little quirks of personality and understood her feelings on things. But she got the feeling it went deeper than that, like Kirk had been through something similar himself, either with Yumi or someone else. A shame, he was a good guy, he deserved to find someone that would respect him. Loud as he was, wisdom wasn't exactly a dump stat for him. "You're right. I'll text her tomorrow, tell her to meet me somewhere... it's time I got this off my chest, for my sake and hers."
Kirk's awkward denial told her he'd been through some pretty rough times with romance, just like she thought. Huh... maybe she could set him up with one of the twins... They were away studying in Germany right now apparently but were set to return in a while. Assuming they hadn't found boyfriends overseas (and she was sure they hadn't because ooooh man they'd have talked endlessly about them if they did), maybe Kirk could find luck with one of her sisters.
Granted, he'd need luck. Those two were demons.
"Don't go on dates, huh? Tell ya what, next time my sisters are in town I'll let you know. They're both about the same age as you, maybe slightly younger." She removed her phone from her pocket, unlocking it quickly. "Gimme your number! Trust me, you'll... uh... well, they'll love you! You might be less enthusiastic when you meet 'em." She laughed heartily, ready to type the number into he address book if he was so inclined. As much as she was teasing, having someone like Kirk around at least one of them might, ironically, calm them down. Hilarious when you think about it, considering Kirk's energy and loudness.
Combat training, though... honestly the thought made her shudder. She didn't really want to live in a world where she'd really need it and yet people had attempted to mug her or steal her packages before, so she knew how important it was. Running was cowardly but it was the easiest way to do it; she could run about as fast as a small car so it's not like she'd be struggling to get away. "Yeah I dunno... combat training is just kinda..." Kai wasn't sure how to explain it...
"I think I'd rather just leave it to the professionals, y'know? I'll happily help ya if you need it but me? I know all I need, I think. Enough to make some distance and get away. I mean you've seen how fast I run and that's not even my top speed..." She smiled, rubbing the back of her head as she thought.
He was certainly impressive though, the way he moved and flowed between his stances. Even as a novice she could tell how good he was; three years of intense U.A. combat training was probably more than enough to make him a competent fighter. If she were to go up against him she wouldn't stand a chance and honestly, watching how effortlessly he seemed to move, how familiar it was to him, she was confident no villain really stood a chance either. Some more experience and training and this guy could probably fight Red Horn to a standstill. Well, unless she raged again, that was-...
No, no reason to think about that right now.
She clapped excitedly at his move though! Not realizing that his Quirk was apparently some sort of pouch or flap on his back! Woah! That was certainly not something she'd have thought looking at him; she'd have figured it was super strength or muscle growth or something, the guy was built like a brick shithouse. "Nice, dude! Yeah, I've not got anything to fear from villains watching those moves, you're a natural!" Kai chuckles, giving him a little tap on the arm in support. "No need for me to join any fighting while you've got enough strength and skill for the two of us, yeah?"
It was hard not to feel bad about saying no to his combat training, the guy was clearly looking forward to it but... it just wasn't her. Kai wasn't a fighter, she didn't want to be one. The thought of having to fight some crazy guy with a knife just made her sick to her stomach; or worse, some crazy bitch with a mask and spooky glowey powers with a name that rhymed with Blishtar. Yet all the same, she was eager to see how Heroes did things. "I would love to see a sparring match between you and Yumi sometime though, or you and some other strong student! I'll make sure and bring my old cheerleading uniform and an ass-load of popcorn, hehe!"
