He would be waiting rather early in the morning for his arriving apprentice for the day. A little training that required a little study of his own to prepare and think up. He was a little gungho when it came to mindsets so this preparation required him to branch out and think a bit more so to speak. He had borrowed one of the larger training buildings briefly with the set up to make sort of a false building as well within it to use for simulations one might say. The building had two stories when anyone would first walk in but a series of surprises within.
He had prepared fans in several areas with large paper streamers to blow in several directions to simulate flames in a harmless way. The long streams of paper soaked in a paint like material that would leave colorful streaks on anything they touched. In a sense if you had paint on you it meant you were burned in a manner of simulation one might say. He also had set up a few other surprises with various break away areas or hazards here and there like parts of the wall that could break or bust. Made of tough material but nothing a hero student couldn't handle. He had a small backpack like the kind a hero might have with various things in it as well. Some first aid and burn creams given the setting. Sized for a human adult or teenager as well.
Of course on the outside it would look like a simple two story shop of some kind. The windows however lightly darkened and the lights inside enough to make things visible but also shadowed so simulate the lights of flames only. He smoke machines too that could choke you up but not be nearly as dangerous as real smoke either. Turning it one or off if things got out of hand was rather easy as well too. The normal looking store would likely look almost normal if not for the windows when his student would arrive. At least if it wasn't also in a larger building itself meant for training of course...
Perry while he waited sat off to the side munching on a peanut butter and banana sandwich until his apprentice would arrive where he waited for her this fine morning. Humming a small tune as he waited comfy and monching.

Meara was walking to the training grounds where her pro was waiting for her. She was really excited to see what they were doing today. Meara knew that Perry was one for clever and sometimes contrived lessons so it wasn’t going to be boring to say the least. She was also just extremely grateful that he was willing to take her on as an apprentice still. Even with all the personal demons she was currently battling. After a few minutes she made it to the area in which she was to be meeting him. “Yo Mr. Opossum!” She called out happily. She had one of Angie’s suckers in her mouth as she walked up to the tiny hero. She turned and looked at the building that was next to them and then back at Perry. “So sir, what do we have in store for today? Hostage rescue?” She asked curiously, taking the sucker out as she talked to him.
Meara was excited to train with him. But she couldn’t help but giggle and think that he was once just a mischievous lil bandit that stole cookies and underwear from the school. And now he’s a pretty chill teacher and respectable hero. Still pretty mischievous though. So she definitely knew that none of this was going to be straight forward. “Oh and teach…” she began, her voice softening a little bit. “Thanks for taking me on. With all the crap I’m going through with this drug nonsense, I’m really happy that you’re willing to bear with it and teach me.” She said, bowing to the small hero. “I am extremely grateful. And I will do my best to learn and not let you down sir.” She finished before standing back up straight.
Meara wasn’t just saying all of this just to blow smoke. She was genuinely happy and appreciative that he was taking her on. This drug thing had been kicking her ass as of late and combined with the whole bounty fiasco, it didn’t make her exactly the most desirable of apprentices. So the fact she was still getting a chance was a huge boost to her confidence. She just hoped she didn’t make him look foolish when all was said and done. “Now enough of the sentimental and mushy stuff. And let’s get down to business.” She said with a smile. “Hero in training Nanknight reporting for duty.” She said giving the possum a salute as she waited for him to speak.

He would cronch and monch on his sandwich as the student arrived and asked a few questions and made conversation as things began so to speak. It was always nice when the students were on time and ready to get to work. It was a nice attitude to have that as a teacher Perry quickly learned not all young human Joeys had... Most seemed to not be all that eager to do their work especially when it came to the academics... At least these training scenarios really got their blood pumping it seemed. His intern and apprentice work thus far had been rather entertaining. Perhaps why he was willing to work with so many students on various subjects and works after all. "Not so much hostage but more so danger rescue. I've worked on a fun little course and while no harm will come to you it has various paints and sticky solutions that will show where burns would happen for us to get a good grading at the end. In all cases I think it'll be quite a bit of fun!" He'd say explaining a bit and finishing his sandwich shortly after with a strong gusto. Licking a bit of peanut butter from his small pink fingers as he finished
"Don't worry about all that other stuff! We'll just have a good controlled and hopefully fun experience. An heheh, with some luck maybe you'll learn something." He'd say trying to be disarming and kind after what she said. Not wanting her to feel worried or judged. Giving her a small salute back as well. "If you're ready we can get to work as well, I have a explanation for you if you think you're ready?" He'd say with a kind smile making sure they were all ready to get to work.

Meara smiled and dropped her hand to the side and looked back at the building. “Ah so it’s on fire then.” She said as she looked back at her instructor and mentor. “This will indeed be fun.” She said as she lightly stretched. It had been a long while since Meara had done any non combat training. It wasn’t her fortei but she knew that heroes had to respond to all kinds of calls and rescue was just as big of a part of being a Pro as fighting crime was. Meara activated her quirk and her familiar black metallic armor manifested over her body, save for her helmet and her arm cannon. “Don’t think I’ll be needing my cannon for this test.” She said with a smile.
“So teach, is there a dummy or something in there that I’ll be rescuing?” She asked as she continued to stretch. Meara was studying the outside of the multi story structure trying to get some semblance of a plan together. It looked like she could repel down from a window with her energy tether if it got to that point. But she wouldn’t know exactly what was going to be in store for her until she actually got in there. In circumstances like this there were dozens of factors and variables that could make it an easy extraction, or a one way ticket to a crispy demise. Granted these would be fake flames most likely so the latter would not be exactly what would happen in that scenario.

He nodded a bit as they spoke and talked a bit about the test. It was good to make sure it was understood how this was gonna work. Some rescue courses via the internship programs after all would look good on the resume and hero papers when these students finally graduated. An while this test was safe in almost all senses of the word. It still had a challenge to it in its own way. A hero after all had to be serious in all situations. A hero that could treat even simulations of any caliber seriously would have the proper mindset when it came to rescuing real people in danger in the future in actual acts of nature and deadly disaster. Perry flicking a switch here and there as the sound of fans kicking up in the two story building was picking up.
"A simulated fire of sorts yes, It might look quite harmless and in truth it is. But its good practice for seeing how you might react in a fire rescue! As well as what type of injuries you may incur or incur upon your victim you attempt to rescue! I thought this might be some good practice and something fun out of your element a bit. It's always good to try new things given who knows what a hero may encounter!" He said in some mild explanation with a strong gusto to his voice.
Perry waddled about as they talked spraying some dark pain on the windows to make it a little more as if the inside was holding in smoke. And wriggling the lock on the door checking mostly just outside features and making sure all the things he wanted to be ready were up to snuff as they carried in conversation as well. "You seem to get the idea, I'll be playing the role of the one in need of rescue thought!" He'd say producing a small little device about the size of a smart phone. "I'll have recordings from hidden cameras as well for after grading for me to see anything I can't spot with my own eyes whether it be from angle or waiting for you to get to me." He'd say in some more explaining. The only part of the test he wasn't looking forward to though was of course that sticky material the fire streamers used would be so annoying to wash out of his thick fur. "You can keep checking the outside out until you're ready but the inside will be up for when the test starts and I take my place. Let me know when you're ready and I'll take my stage and cue you when its time!" Giving her a kind and welcoming nod as if he had explained all he thought needed explaining. Of course he was more then happy to answer any questions she had left before they could get this test going. Hopefully he set it all up right he wanted to do his best for these joeys after all.

Meara nodded her head before her helmet manifested. “Got it teach.” she said. Meara then proceeded to walk around the two story building and tried her best to get a layout of the building. It was indeed a pretty basic building, with a few windows on each story. There was a locked side door on one side of the first floor that Meara made a mental note of and the main entrance where she assumed she would be entering. It was hard to see through the windows with the spray paint covering them so she had no idea what kinda set up this simulated building had.
Meara did one last lap around the back to see if there was something she missed. Satisfied that she hadn’t she went to go back to the front by Pawmight but stopped. Her helmet vanished and she suddenly felt very nauseous. “God damn withdrawals.” she spat as she leaned against the wall for support. A compartment opened up on her left leg and in it contained some wrapped hard candy from Angie, and a lighter and a pack of cigarettes from Yojin. She grabbed the pack of smokes and the lighter and lit one up. She knew that it was bad to be trading one addiction for another. But these cigarettes were helping her a hell of a lot more than the candies at this point. She was thankful to Angie for her continued support and her candies still worked a bit, she just found that the combination of the candy and the nicotine helped to take the edge off more. Once she finished the cigarette she put it out on her boot and put the butt back in the pack before putting it away. “Jack’s gonna kill me if he finds out.” she thought as she popped the hard candy into her mouth. Her leg compartment shut and her helmet reappeared and she made her way back to the front. “Ok Mr. Opossum. I’m ready when you are.” she said as she looked forward and set her mind on the task before her.

Perry was too distracted to pick up on her withdraw issues just yet. He likely dismissed some of it for nerves at first given he was a little tired as was from all the setup. An distracted himself as she looked things over he himself making sure all things were in their proper place and nothing was placed improperly or moved around wrong. He would check the sticky paint like material on the paper flames as well before quickly cleaning his hands when he was sure this simulation was all rearing and ready to go. When she said she too was ready was all the final words he needed to get the ball rolling so to speak.
"Ah yes, good good. I knew you'd have keen eye and be ready quickly. You dont let me down Miss O'connor." He said with a pleased nod and a little snort that showed he was pleased he often did in class as well when students new their stuff about the history lessons he would teach. But for now they had other types of training to get down with. "I'll take my position! I'll call for welp when we begin and I'll start watching and ready to keep track of scores when we begin." Giving several more nods before skittering off on all fours. Allowing her to go back outside the makeshift training building and take her position as well as the hero on the streets when the time was right. "You take your position as well until I start!" He'd say as he skittered away rather quickly on his little paws.
Once he took position in the furthest back room upon the second floor of the imitation fire shop. He'd clear his throat and stretch lightly putting some light debris on top of himself to simulate a nearby collapse as he'd call when ready. "Help, Help! Fire! I'm trapped inside! Please save me!" He'd call out, Not the best acting but it would suffice given the small creature was more a brains man not a acting man after all.

After a few seconds of waiting she heard Pawmight cry out for help. She couldn’t help but chuckle lightly at the thought of a small but strong possum hero acting like a helpless civilian. She shook the thoughts out her mind and refocused on the task at hand. Training simulation or not, Meara knew that she had to take this seriously. And she was keen on making sure that she passed and made herself look competent, personal demons be damned. As she made her way to the door she went to push it opened and found that it was locked. “Probably simulating debris blocking it.” She thought. “Don’t worry sir! I’ll be in momentarily! I’m going to break down the door so if you’re close by please stand back!” she called out before taking aim with her reformed cannon and blasted the double doors open.
The doors flew open and Meara was greeted with nothing but simulated smoke and fire. “Sir! If you can hear me call out so I can locate you! And I know it’s scary but try your best to remain calm! I will try to get to you as soon as possible!” she cried out again. She went door to door on the first floor, doing her best not to trip over debris or get caught by the fake flames. She just narrowly avoided a surprise blast of the paint covered streamers when she went through the last door. “Backdraft. Have to remember I can’t just rush head first.” she said to herself. She remembered learning about the different dangers building fires presented in one of her teachers rescue lectures and was upset that she had forgotten about it. “Sir I’m coming upstairs! Keep trying to call out to me!” she yelled once again. As she made it up the stairs they suddenly collapsed under her and she fell into a pile along with the broken wood. “Mischievous little rodent.” Meara swore as she made her way back up to her feet.

She came in abruptly as Perry listened occasionally using a small phone he hid in his pouch to observe through various hidden cameras to see just how well the students would do. A direct entrance wasn't the most safe but it also had to account for the danger of someone in need of rescue so he'd consider that along side the direct actions. She seemed quick to get in as well as try and gain some sort of vocal communication for help. Perry nodded at his little visual screen for his phone and gave a nod.
"Help! Help! I'm upstairs and the fire is hard to breath!" He'd faking a cough or two and using his phone as a remote to make the fans blowing the simulated flames even harsher as if to make it seem like the fire was getting worse. He couldn't help but chuckle as he heard one of his traps break free. A smug little smirk and chuckle leave his fuzzy lips in a sense of achievement. After all it wouldn't be good training if it was too easy right?
So far the second floor hadn't been breached but come close. Perry would let out several more coughs as a verbal cue each time he'd turn up the flames a little more. The sticky fire fan streamers would move around violently readying their sticky ooze to slap or smack into anything that got to close to see who might have been burned for getting close. He'd click a few buttons as there was a few more trap falls on the second floor as well as some jammed doors as he remained in one of the rooms of the upper floor. He was curious to see how she'd handle it. It wasn't her main area of training so he wasn't expecting perfection but it was important to throw these students in new situations to try and help them all areas not just their expertise.
