Charlie had finally completed crescendo, melody's new rapier that was made with her quirk in mind. It felt lighter than she expected, she practiced swinging it around for a second to get used to how it's weight shifted. As she swung it around she could feel the chambers with water inside sloosh around a bit. Ah so charlie even thought of that huh "This is pretty impressive..I'll have to thank charlie later for it." she said as a small grin appeared on her face. She had been practicing for a couple of days and began to wonder if it was time for her to find a sparring partner.. since she had recently hung out with Elise she had thought of Tetsuko..melody was fuzzy on details on Tetsuko, she knew she was one of those golden students who was good at close combat but not much else honestly.
Hmmm well she supposed if she got beat enough times she'd learn eventually. She sent a quick text to Tetsuko asking for her assistance and to melody's surprise she accepted. She was kind of excited and scared at the same time, she didn't want to have another meltdown from losing like she did with Kirk or with Jack but she was going to have to learn to control it wasn't she? She stood in the training facility as she practiced some slashes on the air. She asked tetsuko to get a teacher to facilitate the match since Melody wasn't exactly close to any of the teachers herself and since tetsuko was on the Disciplinary committee she assumed it'd be better to just let her handle it. As she heard the door to the facility open she turned to the people entering the doorway. "Hello tetsuko! Thank you so much for accepting my request for training." she said as she bowed to the girl who would be her tutor.

Tetsuko was wondering if she should apple to be U.A.'s resident weapons teacher, at this point. Well, not really, as she didn't consider herself that good a teacher, but the swordswoman was quite proud of the fact that many felt comfortable coming to her for help in learning to use their own blades or other implements. It was, she hoped, a sign of her own skill and expertise in the subject shining through, or maybe it was just a sign that she spoke about swords a bit too much around people...
Either way, she was happy to help, no matter who might seek her out. That being said, Tetsuko was surprised to find that Melody Miro had taken up an interest in learning swordsmanship. Not entirely familiar with the girl, it was still somewhat of a surprise that she was someone who'd want to learn such a thing. Well, no matter, Tetsuko was always happy to aid a willing a student. If anyone really wanted to learn about the art of swordsmanship, Tetsuko would always be happy to teach them.
Unfortunately for them, that did often mean having to listen to a lot of terminology, though...
With one of her wooden practice swords in hand, Tetsuko would make her way over to the training grounds as Melody had requested. Upon arrival, the swordswoman spotted the other girl already practicing some swings in the air, with an interesting weapon. It looked like it had some mechanical components, but nonetheless, functioned like a typical rapier. At a glance, she could tell the weighting was appropriate.
"It's no problem. I'm always happy to teach, so thanks for being my student, Melody-san." Tetsuko would respond, bowing her own head in greeting as she approached Melody, her eyes still drifting down to that blade of hers. "I see you're using a rapier. It's a nice weapon, perfect for agile and dexterous strikes, and with a deceptive range. If you don't mind my asking, it seems to have some extras added, what are those for?" Tetsuko presumed it was some kind of support gear, but was curious as to what exactly it did.

As tetsuko returned the thanks to melody for choosing her as a teacher she got a bit nervous, after all she wasnt overly familiar with tetsuko. It was only a handful of times they ever really interacted in the U.A general chat. She only knew Tetsuko consistently hit the top student rankings and was known to be one of the most skilled students here. So if one obviously wanted to climb the ranks she had to hang out and learn from the top ranks themselves.
It was a bit selfish and mean in her opinion but she was willing to do a lot of things to change her fate, she had already been known to lose fights consistently and she was determined to change that. She wanted to prove to herself that she could change the outcome of things and that she belonged in U.A. Well whatever, she couldn't get sappy about it now, this wasn't the time for it. Tetsuko had asked to see Melody's sword since it seemed to have some extra features. She got a bit excited to show off charlie's handiwork since she went above and beyond on it and melody was really appreciative of it. She held the sword in front of Tetsuko "It's named crescendo, charlie made it for me!" she said as she pointed to the hilt that had a chamber to it. "The chamber is filled with little vials of water that when I press the trigger open it up and allow me to use my water to coat the blade in order to make it cut only when I need it to and it becomes a blunt weapon when i use it in combat to prevent serious wounds." she said as it was obvious that charlie put a LOT of attention in the details of this weapon.
"So that's why I feel the need to learn how to use it properly. Considering how much work went into this weapon it's only right I learn to wield it the best I can." She said before loading the water vials from her pocket "It also doubles as a way for me to get access to SOME water if my environment seems to be seriously lacking in it. People dont give her enough credit, she's pretty good at what she does." she said before suddenly getting a rather jokingly sad expression on her face "Dont tell yojin but im glad i went to her instead...that kid only makes roombas..." she said staring at the hilt of the blade and she put the chamber back into place. She then looked at tetsuko's wooden sword, "then again bringing my metal sword against your wooden one seems a bit overkill doesnt it?" she asked a bit worry she might hurt tetsuko by accident at least she could heal her if either one of them got really hurt. Melody wondered if she should bring up how Elise is doing too, she recently saw her and from what Elise said it's been a while since the two had some quality time.

Tetsuko was somewhat notoriously known as U.A.'s weapons nut, so it was only natural that she'd want to learn more about the interesting design that Melody had brought to their lesson. 'Crescendo' was its name, not at all a bad choice for a rapier. For it was in the chaos of close quarters combat that a precision offensive tool like the rapier shined, as what it lacked in defensive capacity was made up for in by its ability to strike with speed and precision. However, Crescendo wasn't just any rapier, and it seemed Melody had also outfitted it to allow augments from her water. Her way of controlling its damage against targets, it seemed.
Melody definitely seemed pleased with Charlie's design, and Tetsuko could see even more potential in it than what Melody had in mind. The blue-haired girl wanted to wield it to her best ability to make its creator proud, after all, so Tetsuko was going to do her best to teach Melody how to use the weapon. Chuckling at Melody's joke about Yojin, Tetsuko would then raise her wooden sword as Melody mentioned it. "Ah, this is just for teaching purposes. If you want a spar, I can make an iron sword on the spot, but I'd like to see where you're at with using the weapon first." Tetsuko explained. She looked at Crescendo a few moments more, before deciding how best to begin her teaching.
"Well, firstly, I'd like to give my thoughts on rapiers, and what you should be trying to maximize from them." Tetsuko uttered, holding out her wooden sword in a generic rapier stance, one hand behind her back, and the sword hand out in front, controlling the weapon with her wrist. "The rapier is, firstly, an agile weapon. All the weight is back at your wrist, so you can control it very, very easily. You can snap to weak points or give a flurry of thrusts with relative ease, and parrying isn't too hard either." Tetsuko would give a few quick, fluid movements to show off these aspects of the weapon, although a bit awkwardly as she wasn't actually using a rapier, just wielding it like one. "Its biggest weakness is raw power, both offensively and defensively, so you have to make up for it with accuracy and speed. You can do quite long-range lunges and thrusts, so find your opponent's weak point it hit with an explosive thrust before they know what's happening. You could even use a burst of your water, even from your cartridges."
The rapier was a precision tool more than it was one of brute force. Strike somewhere that was too heavily armored, try to block statically instead of with parry, or make any other error that relied on force over technique, and you were sure to pay for it. Looking back to Melody, Tetsuko would offer the girl her own chance to speak. "So, that aside, any questions or particular things you want me to show you? Or are you a more practical, on your toes type learner?"

It would be one that also did not end in her favor, so melody quickly put that to rest"Nope, no no that's fine! that's alright!" she said as a small sweat bead formed on her head as she panicked "Lets keep it at a wooden sword, ill keep my blade dulled as well." she said quickly putting that thought to rest. Melody did wonder how a spar with Tetsuko would go, she couldnt say she was not interested but melody was an extremely sore loser when it came to fights. She tended to lose from her own errors in judgement...and also tetsuko was known to be rather...terrifying in her opinion in battle. She heard many tales of the girl's matches.[break][break]
Melody stood and watched closely as tetsuko outlined information on rapiers. Melody knew some of the info, she had chosen a weapon that was quick and had a light blade. She needed a weapon like that because she lacked raw strength when it came to her own physical body. So instead Melody opted for a weapon that was like her, it had to be quick, light in terms of weight, and give her the upper hand in terms of range. "Wow you really are as smart as people say when it comes to weapons. I'm very impressed tetsuko, that's exactly what I was going for when I was brainstorming ideas with charlie." She said admiring the girl's insight on weapons. She decided to expand further upon tetsuko's logic and give her own reasoning for choosing a rapier. "Let me give you my reasoning for it. I know you didnt ask but...I can be a talker when it comes to quirk and combat styles." she said pulling out one of the cartridges of water, she flipped the top of it open and began to speak.[break][break]
"My quirk is called living water. As long as my vocal chords are active I can emit a special soundwave from my voice that allows me to control water in whatever form it is. I can attack pretty forcefully with it and even heal someone with it. But as you can imagine my quirk is limited to how long I can speak, sing, or even scream for. Drawbacks being that the longer I actively use my quirk I run the risk of becoming dehydrated and or my voice can probably give out from over use, leaving me no options." she said as the cartridge began to float and spin in a small circle in front of her showing tetsuko what she meant. "So I had to give myself a weapon I could use for fighting and then limit my quirk use to enhancing it's power if im not freely manipulating water or even giving me a small source when one is not readily available." she said as she pointed her sword "and like you said." to the test dummy and fired a cartidge at it, melody harmonized a note and the water bullet sped up and pierced right through the non vital spots that were marked on a nearby test dummy "Precision. I'd like to fight to restrain someone by hitting weak spots to subdue." she smiled before her face immediately turned red as it looked like she was being cocky "B-BUT I AM NOT VERY GOOD AT CLOSE COMBAT S-SO." she stuttered. "THAT'S WHY I SOUGHT YOUR HELP SINCE I SUCK AT IT." she continued. She said mimicking tetsuko's position previously, melody put one foot in front of the other and her hand behind her back. Her form was a bit sloppier than tetsu since she only saw it for a few moments. She was also obviously no where even close to the fellow student's level. She stood for a few moments...and then looked over to her like a lost puppy "Uhhhh could you help me fix my form? Im kind of...a mix of both I would say? I'm more of a on toes type learner that does even better with practical advice?" she said still kind of embarrassed from her earlier debacle. She was a total nerd when it came to quirk and combat talk.
