T his couldn't be happening! Angel had been working out in one of the training facilities in her hero suit when her phone began to buzz frantically with multiple texts. As Angel rushed over to her messenger bag and retrieved it She was left breathless when she saw who the texts were from and what they said. The texts were from Ms.Haruka from the Haven orphanage which the Surami family helped fund and endorsed since they had adopted a young Leo Sinclair and Mushiko Kuwagata from the place and gave them a new home and a new life free of pain and strife. The texts told Angel that the young trouble maker and bullies Nezu and Matoru told the young boneless hero idolizing girl Natsuko the secret that they had all been hiding from her which was that she was going to die soon, and in the girl's sadness, confusion and anger the young girl ran away when no one was looking. Luckily the text thread also included the most likely location that Natsuko would run off to which was a small park with a playground and swing set near U.A. because she liked to be near where heroes came from because she dreamed of being one herself when she got big. Since Angel had physical proof of the emergency situation she quickly went to the principal of the school and was granted permission to use her quirk to assist under the condition that proper medics were notified. Once she thanked the man Angel took off at top speed out of U.A's grounds with phone in hand and bluetooth piece in her right hearing aid as she head for the young girl hoping that she wasn't too late. While she flew Angel dialed the orphanages number and once Ms.Haruka picked up she knew exactly what to say. "Ms.Haruka this is Angel Surami! I am on route to Natsuko's location now at my top speed. My ETA shouldn't be more then 10 minutes! Mushiko should be volunteering there today. Please tell her the situation and that her cousin Angel needs her on the scene with her. Having someone that she knows might help keep Natsuko calm! If you haven't already call the paramedics and send them that way! I'll leave it up to your best judgement weather to send Tadashi or not! Angel out!"Without waiting for an Answer Angel hung up and did her best to pick up speed until she was at her max. It wasn't long after that that the young junior hero reached the park and landed right inside its gate spotting Natsuko sitting on a swing. Angel slowly approached resting her wings flat against her back and did her best to put on the smile she was best known for. "Hey little one! It's been a little while huh? Ms.Haruka called me and told me you ran away because Nezu said some nasty things to you. Wanna tell me about it? I know you aren't feeling to good so I called Ms.Haruka and asked her to send over Mushiko to keep us company. Doesn't that sound nice?"As Angel reached Natsuko she knelt down and took her hands in her own and smiled looking at the swing next to her. "Do you mind if I sit next to you while we talk? If you like I can tell you some hero stories! I know how much you like them and I have a couple brand new ones just for one. One is full of action and once is full of romance. Which would you like to hear first?"

The sky shined, bathed in the golden red hues of the summer evening as they day quickly race towards dusk. The wind howled around Angel as she raced through the skyline, the buffering winds gave meager resistance to the power of her wings. Crowds below ebbed and flowed through the streets like blood through the veins of the city, all buried in their lives. A few of them would look to the skies, their eyes just barely latching on to the movement above before once more burying their gaze and returning to the tumult of their lives. Indeed, while she moved with haste and anxiety, the world returned to its tumults as if nothing was wrong.
Natsuko stared at the ground, kicking at the sawdust just barely at the tips of her toes. She thought of nothing, no, there was something nagging at the back of her mind that demanded every fiber of her attention and she couldn't even tell. She was entrenched in it in a way beyond her infantile understanding, something mawing at recesses of her mind, threatening to overwhelm her at any second! And, yet, in this she found herself in a strange sense of sorrowful calm. Every detail that entered her mind the same as they ever were but so much more. She had never taken much interest in the warm summer breeze, how it gently kissed her ski, but now she found herself in odd fascination how it whipped her hair across her face.
The little girl's gaze would almost immediately fall upon Angel as she approached. It was hard to miss the flurry of green leaves and dust which formed a thin cloud about the future heroine. Natsuko knew that she should have felt happy at the sight, yet the weight in her stomach sunk ever deeper, so instead she would sigh and avert her gaze, ashamed to meet Angel.
"Hi..." Her voice was barely above a whisper, perhaps the slightest mumble. She didn't care to be heard. The girl wouldn't respond to the apparent invitation extended to Mushiko, in fact, she didn't really want anyone around right now, but she didn't say anything about it. "...Okay."
Natsuko's hands felt more like the arms of a squid: rubbery and pliant. Her flesh gave way to Angel's grip, refusing to offer the resistance brought by a skeleton. Her thoughts hung a moment on Angel's offer. At once she wanted to be alone and wanted to just be alone for a while longer. She wasn't sure what she really wanted. After a few seconds she would give the heroine a hesitant nod.
Alas, her hand would slip out of Angel's at the mention of stories. Normally she would have been elated, but now she didn't know how to feel. She just wanted to be consoled, but she didn't know how to say it. Why? It didn't make sense. She would force herself to make a decision. "..Can... Can you tell me about heroes?"

A s Angel held the young Natsuko's hands for the moment she could feel how almost rubbery they felt as if her bones were dissolving right before here. That was all the confirmation that Angel needed to realize that what she had been said about the young girl's quirk killing her was true, and by the looks of things she only had a couple of hours left at the very most. As the girl pulled her hands away Angel gave her a sweet smile trying to hide the sadness she felt deep inside about this girl's fate and how there was nothing that the junior hero could do to save her. Angel just took a seat next to Natsuko on the swing next to her as the young girl asked her hero to tell her about heroes. "I sure can sweetheart! I know a bunch of pro heroes and have worked with quite a few,and know a bunch of junior heroes as well! I have so many stories to tell!"Angel tapped her chin with her left index finger in a goofy manner to try and get a smile out of the sick and dying child so that hopefully she could feel at least a bit of joy and laughter to Natsuko's face before snapping her fingers with a large grin. "Who better to start off with then the first ever pro hero I ever worked with! Her hero name is Yellow Jacket! She's a mutant like myself, but her mutation effects her entire body giving her the appearance of a yellow jacket bee where she got her name! Unlike myself who is all about fighting the bad guys and bringing them to justice Yellow Jacket is what we in the hero community call a rescue hero. She specializes not in fighting, but saving people from things like natural disasters like fires, earthquakes or floods. I met her when I was 15 years old when she chose me and two other junior heroes to save a mall full of people from a couple bad guys. It was the first time I had ever been out actually crime fighting. She actually works at my hero school as one of the support course teachers. She helps us junior heroes make our special gear and suits to help us in crime fighting!"Angel did her best to make her story sound as exciting as possibly by using flailing arm movements to simulate bug wings and air punches to simulate fighting for the young girl hoping to get at least a giggle out of her. She then decided to go with a hero the young girl most likely knew since she was once the country's top pro hero at a time. "You know I have also worked with the mighty and unstoppable Red Horn herself as well! She's as strong as they say to the point she was the country's top hero for awhile! I once helped her save an entire construction site of people all by ourselves! Red Horn may be the strongest of us,but she's not the best of us not by a long shot."Angel smiled and without another word gently reached over and took the young girl's hand next to her and gently ran her thumb over it with a soft smile to get her to look over at the fully dressed junior hero next to her. "By far the best hero I have ever met didn't even come from U.A.,but a small orphanage. Even though her quirk was just to make herself into a puddle she had a far more powerful superpower. She has the ability to light up any room with just a smile and an excited laugh. It's true she hasn't had the best life, but that never stopped her from finding the fun in every little thing she did be it running up and down the halls or playing hide and seek with her big brother. If you ask me if any inspirational hero deserves a statue it would be her."Angel smiled and kissed the top of the girl's hand to show that it was her that the mutant was talking about. She then smiled happily. "You may not go to U.A. Natsuko, but you are a hero to me,and everyone at the orphanage especially your big brother. If you like I can call him and have him join us. I'm sure he'd love to come play with his favorite hero,if you are feeling up to it?"Angel knew there wasn't much she could do for Natsuko physically, but what she could do was give her the best last day she positively could. The little girl after all she had suffered deserved that much. If that was the only Mercy Angel could grant her by giving her a fun day then that's what she would do. "Hey Natsuko? If you could pick one thing you've always wanted to do,but never got to do what would it be? Would you like to know what flying feels like? I could show you."

They were the words she thought she wanted to hear, but beyond that... well, she didn't know, but the stories were... They didn't have the excitement she thought they would. The words were the same, better even than the boring old news reports she got to see on the TV. What changed? Could it be her?
Natsuko kept a tenuous strain of attention to Angel's words out of obligation, though she did little else. She kicked the tips of her toes around in the sand pit as best as she was able, setting the swing in motion ever so slightly. She forced a passing smile on her face so that Angel wouldn't feel bad. At least she was trying, right?
"I like Red Horn, too." While Natsuko smiled, there was little energy in her voice. She couldn't muster the enthusiasm that had been behind the bright and beaming smile that had first met Angel at the orphanage. The childlike wonder had been robbed from her, replaced with an emptiness unfitting for someone as young as her.
She felt a slight sense of relief as Angel grabbed her hand again. She trembled as Angel went on. It was like she was listening to her brother console her, but to hear it in the words of a stranger... it just hit differently and she didn't know how to describe it. That lively sparkle returned to the girl's eyes after Angel gave her peckish kiss, but it was not the liveliness that Angel had come to know, but the gleam of tears fought back finally forcing themselves into the open
The girl had no more words. She didn't want or need stories right now. She just needed someone to be there. She got out of her seat and attempted to embrace Angel in a hug. Should Angel accept it, she would do little more than cry for the next minute straight.

A ngel could tell by the sound in Natsuko's voice that she didn't have much energy,or life left in her at all. The usual enthusiam that the young girl usually held that made her feel like a miniature version of Angel herself had been drained away. She had not only been robbed of her innocence, but now her body was failing and she would be robbed of her life as well. It just wasn't fair, but all angel could do was be there for the young girl until her time came. As Natsuko said that she liked Red Horn too Angel tried to keep up her smile. "Maybe after you get picked up and taken home to rest I'll fly back to school and get you her autograph! Are there any other heroes you really like? I could help you start an autograph collection. We just gotta get you better first, and get you some rest. Once you are all better I'll even take you to U.A. so you can meet them personally!"Angel was doing her best to try and give the young girl hope that she may actually get better, but she knew that they both knew that it was lost cause and that poor Natsuko wouldn't even last the day if that. As Natsuko managed to stand up and walk over to her and begin to sob as Angel sat on the swing next to where the young girl had been sitting Angel as Natsuko almost lept into her arms quickly embraced her and used her strength to pick her up and hold her while gently beginning to stroke the back of her head like Angel's own mother used to do for her. "It's okay little one. Let it all out,i'm not going anywhere until you are ready I promise. I'm sorry I didn't get here soon. I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you."Angel's voice began to quiver as she held Natsuko closer, and yet still gently so that the young girl couldn't see that her personal hero's smile was now gone as tears slowly streamed down her cheeks. Angel knew she needed to try and stay strong for the young girl until Ms.Haruka arrived, but it was growing increasingly more difficult. "Ms.haruka and help will be here soon I promise. We'll get you through this."Angel couldn't tell who she was lying to or for more Natsuko or herself. Over the last two years Angel had grown stronger and stronger, and yet she felt so very weak as she held the young girl in her arms because when the girl needed her the most she couldn't do anything but wait for the invevitable. Hopefully Haruka,Natsuko's brother would arrive in time to say goodbye.

Natsuko took a moment to think. Autographs?... What were those again? She heard the word before she was sure, but the meaning was just on the tip of her tongue. Alas, Angel carried the conversation far faster than the little girl could bring herself to interject to, and she wouldn't really have the time to answer Angel's original question.
"O-okay." her enthusiasm was, of course, faked, but she tried her best. She felt like it was something that she should have been excited for, she really did, but she couldn't place the vacuous feeling that surrounded her. She felt like something bad was about to happen. She held on tight to Angel, like her life depended on it, but something told her it wouldn't help her at all.
"Ba-chan won't make it." It was an innocuous thought that crept out of the back of the girl's mind. It was like she knew something she didn't know herself. It felt strange, scary, and, yet, peaceful. The girl heaved a few breaths to get control of her tears. Wait, if Haruka couldn't make it... then...
After just gaining control of herself again, Natsuko released the flood gates once more, mere sobs becoming miserable wretches. "T-ta-chan won't make it either!" It wasn't fair, she wanted to see her brother! Why couldn't she see her brother!? Useless questions! Why was she asking them!? What was calling to her? What was telling her these things?! Her arms only wrapped around Angel's neck a bit tigher as sad howl left her mouth.
The sound was faint, but Angel could barely hear it in the distance. The sound of sirens was growing the slightest bit louder. Surely not an abnormal sound in such a large city but, given the context, there could be little doubt that help was on the way.

A ngel could hear the fake enthusiasm in the young girl's voice from a mile away thanks to her own years having to fake a smile as a slave. As the young girl clung to her and told her that those she needed weren't coming Angel just lightly moved Natsuko over to her lap and held her close like a mother would her child when they were sick. Time was running out for the young girl, and there was absolutely nothing that the young hero could do about it,but wait. As Natsuko clung to her Angel kissed the top of her head softly as the sound of the ambulance got closer. "I have an idea of something that might help you until every gets here. Just try and get comfortable and shut your eyes okay? I'm gonna sing you a pretty song that my mama used to sing to me when I didn't feel well, were frightened or angry."As Angel began to sing she shifted Natsuko to where she was gently cradled in her arms as Angel gently rocked the young girl by using her feet to lightly pushing the swing. As Angel sang lightly, and like a mother would her child the world seemed to fall away from her as she held Natsuko in her arms determined to get a genuine relaxed smile from the girl before the very end came. As she sang her voice lightly rang out through the air as butterflies and squirrels came out to hear the song. Despite being someone who's style of heroics heavily relied on combat Angel's voice was much like her wings which was incredibly Angelic and sweet. Sure she wasn't talented enough to sing for a stadium amount of people, but for a sick little girl who was depending on her? She tried to sing the absolute best she could. Once the song was over Angel smiled down at Natsuko gently. "You know if I was old enough I would have adopted you and your big brother the day we met. Whenever i feel discouraged during my training or in a fight with a bad guy I think about you my #1 fan cheering me on. In my eyes you are a bigger hero than any pro out there. Just your smile alone could melt any bad guy's heart and make them into good guys."Angel did her best to keep her motherly smile up as she held Natsuko close, and continue to fight back tears. To Angel it felt as if she was holding her own dying daughter in her arms, and there was nothing she could do about it. Hopefully the ambulance could help Natsuko hold on a little longer,or at least make when she did pass as least painful as possible.

Natsuko was surprisingly light and pliable for her size, it would feel more like she was holding a squid than a normal human. Natsuko wasn't really in the position nor the care to object. She would curl herself in Angel's grasp, the convulsions of her sobs rocking the both of them only the slightest bit. She wanted to stop being sad for Angel, but everything felt like it weighed so much. Maybe she wasn't really sad just... tired? Nom, that couldn't be it.
Her wails would turn turn into a calmer weep. Perhaps, it seemed the worst had passed for the both of them. Slowly the weight she felt began to lift from her. Natsuko would at last feel a bit of the peace she had been searching for within those minutes. The void before her no longer felt as empty. It felt calm, soothing. For once in this engagement Angel managed to bring forth a slight, content smile from the girl.
"Hmm." The girl shifted a bit so she could get a better look at Angel. "You really think so?" Her tone sounded distant and whimsical, as if everything was already behind her. "Thank you, Angel-san." She didn't know what was about to happen or where she was going, but she was glad she could see Angel one last time before she had to leave. She barely noticed the blaring sound of the siren growing ever closer.
Angel would be able to notice it first, the pounding footsteps just outside of the park, the bated breath! "Natsuko!" No, Angel was not the only one privy to this spot. She probably only made it first because of her speed. Natsuko would raise to meet her brother. "Ta-ch-!"
Angel could feel the powerful convulsion rip through Natsuko's body as many of her muscles contracted at once. With only the slightest bit of warning, her heart would stop beating, her body falling limp in Angel's arms.

| A ngel could feel Natsuko slipping away from her and from her life with every passing moment, and so the hero in training did her best to keep her smile the best she could as she held the small girl in her arms gently as she continued to rock her and listen to her words. As she heard Natsuko thank her as the ambulance pulled up and the medics rushed out toward them Angel's heart felt as if it had been ripped in two. What happened next would effect Angel for the rest of her life as she saw and heard Natsuko's big brother call to her and run toward the pair as Natsuko's body tightened, her heart stopped and her body went limp. This was the flood gates of Angel's emotions finally broke as tears streamed down her cheeks as she gently sat Natsuko down on the ground gently leading the paramedics to try and bring her back via shock paddles "I'm sorry..I tried to keep her as comfortable and happy as I could until you all got here. I did my absolute best to help her hold on. I wasn't enough, but i promise you that she went peacefully."Angel hated to talk like it was already over, but Angel knew that this was no ordinary injury or illness that the paramedics could mend or save the young girl from. This was years in the making due to a quirk that was incomparable with the girl's body. It was a true tragedy, but quirks since quirks were still relatively new in the world genetic mistakes were bound to happen like with Angel's own quirk leading to her being born without ears. Once Angel was able to wipe her eyes and compose herself she watched and listened as the paramedics called a time of death before beginning to load the young girl into the back of the ambulance Angel quickly used her super speed to dash toward Natusko's big brother and pull him into a hug not only because she knew he must need one,but to also hold him back from stopping the paramedics from doing their job. "I'll call Ms.Haruka and have her meet you at the hospital. I know Natsuko would want her family by her side at the end. I'll pay for all of the arrangements. She will get a true hero's honorable ceremony. This I swear."Angel then let Natsuko's brother go before walking him up to the paramedics doing her absolute best to give her best smile though the attempt clearly was a failure. "excuse me gentlemen, but this is the young girl's older brother. Please allow him to ride to the hospital with his sister. I will contact their guardian, and have her meet you there."Once she finished speaking to the paramedics she knelt down in front of Natsuko's brother and gave him one more gentle hug. "I want you to know she thought and loved you up until the very end,i'm sure you will be reunited in the next life. I'll be in touch."Angel then stood straight as the brother climbed into the back of the ambulance and with a mighty flap of her wings and a push off from her legs took to the sky as she flew back to U.A. as she dialed Ms.Haruka's number. "Ms.Haruka..it's Angel. I'm so sorry..I did the best i could but..she's gone. Her brother is riding to the hospital with the paramedics now. Don't worry about the funeral costs. I've got it covered. I..I'm sorry I couldn't save her."Angel then hung up the phone as her voice broke. The rest of the flight back was completely silent as the tears of the Angel fell from her eyes and into the sky like rain. This was a day that would live on in Angel's heart for the rest of her life.
