"-And again we would like to thank the emergency services who did their duty in the face of extreme hardships today. While there are indeed records of Vigilante forcs joining the fray to suppress the group now being named 'the ragers', we would like to remind people there are proper channels to go through to help you community in a safe, and trained manner. Our police forces, our firemen, our emergency medical technicians, are no less than our great heroes. Everyone did their part today, and while we will not be pursuing legal action on the vigilante's involved due to the dire circumstances, once again we must make it clear. We do not approve, we do not endorse. To do your part for your community... work with us. Not against us."
As some government representative gave their big speech, Mia was sitting in a chair at the back of the temporary stage, clearly in view but not the 'main show' right now. She'd had to get dressed up and all... after a couple days and some hefty testing to make sure whatever had made her freak out was out of her system, she'd spent hours with a PR team reminding her what to say and how to dress. With a little bit of a tired fight from herself she'd pushed the idea of a full suit or, god forbid, a smart dress from their mind, ending up with pants, a shirt with rolled up sleeves, and a tie... she still felt like it was suffocating her but it was better than trying to contain her in a full on suit that she'd probably tear with the slightest wrong motion. If she had the run of the show she'd be thanking everyone, especially the vigilantes but... she needed to behave right now. She was already in enough trouble with the whole... Red Rage... thing.
"Now... to try and reassure the public we will be leaving the final words on the incident to Red Horn herself." A brief burst of sound was heard from the crowd, specifically the press in the front row and a hand was raised. "Please, save your questions for the private meet we will be having after this. Those of you invited will have had your passes given to you on your way in." Waiting for the crowd to calm somewhat, the government representative picked up his notes and looked back to the blonde beast waiting for her turn.
"RedHorn."
"... Aye." She mumbled, pushing out of her seat. A brief, mildly hidden glare shared between the two as they swapped positions. Mia didn't wanna read from some script and the representative just didn't believe she could handle being civil for all of the two minutes it'd take for her to read out the speech. At the podeum, Mia pulled out some curled up notes from her back pocket, laying them out and letting out a rough sigh as she lowered her eyes, mumbling a little until she picked up some momentum with her words.
"I would first like to apologize to those affected by my actions in the past days. The destruction caused, while leading to no fatal injuries to members of the public, have caused thousands in property damage, and perhaps even more harm to the image of my fellow heroes in the eyes of the public that had been placing such trust in us. While not..." Mia's eyes looked over the lie she had to peddle, sighing through her nose and lifting her eyes from the notes. SHe knew what to say... didn't make it any easier. "While not entirely my own fault, I must still apologize. The capabilities of the villain known as Muramasa had been growing in the ranks of the government, and I should have been more prepared."
Easing her hands off the podeum, she continued. "We would like to remind the public that the villain has the capability to make a drug that can induce a steroid like, and intense rage effect in those injected with it. While the process of making this drug is unclear, I am evidence now that it can also effect powerful quirkers who would typically resist such drugs." God that felt like shit literally pouring off of her tongue lying about tht... maybe the drug would effect her, but she knew it hadn't...
"Of course that makes me no less responsible for my actions. I will be maintaining my title as a pro hero thanks to the Governments generosity and the support of the public in previous interest polls, but I will be pulling myself back from the front lines for a time while the government considers approaches to this new villain. Susceptible to rage, and with such adverse, clear effects to their quirk laden drug, we have agreed it would be best I, temporarily, take a leave of absence from field work. I will however still be doing my duty as a hero over the coming months, working as a teacher at UA. I will be looking forward to helping mold our future heroes in training in the hopes incidents like this won't be occuring in the future."
Her speech wasn't perfect, her words weren't entirely on script once she lifted her eyes, but she hit the points she needed to hit, pulling back from the podeum and running a hand back through her golden mane. "Again... any further questions can be directed at our resident government rep... I will be taking time off to prepare for my transfer to UA campus. Thank you."
The press in the crowd clearly tried to get some more words out of her but... Mia wasn't having any of it. She turned to leave and stuck to it. After spitting out that bile and crap, she wasn't in the mood to try and make up more lies for these people...
