"UUuugh... check me into the... annngh... back room..."
Axel barely paused as he slipped into the coffee shop / inn in the middle of the Kabukicho district... how no one saw that as a red flag immediately was beyond him sometimes, given what the usual 'air' of that district was but he wasn't about to complain. Worn out from a day of running errands for Ishtar and playing 'pretend vigilante' to get more of an in with G and his storm knights. The fake Red color caused by his stealth drive was still fading back to his usual blue-ish green even as he stumbled through the store and blindly headed towards the back room.
It wasn't a typical bedroom he usually rented out, and having stopped here a few times in the past once he realized what the place's purpose was for people like him, he'd managed to arrange a deal to literally just camp out in the literal storage room in the back while he recharged. Not that Axel didn't appreciate a good bed mind you, but he was never too comfortable with spending the night here in full. All he needed was a few hours to recharge before he went home. Sure he could possibly plug himself in to a normal coffee shop, but most of those got angry if you so much as plugged in your mobile phone. Imagine the yelling he'd get if he was seen plugging his whole body in?
Without much more of a word than what he'd entered with, Axel pushed his way into the storage room in the back, worming his way through a few boxes of coffee beans, filters and spare racks of mugs before collapsing his back against the far wall, a tinny sigh flowing through him as he popped the chord he used to recharge out of his torso, missing the socket a few times as he tried to fill it blindly, but thankfully managing to get it on the 5th ish attempt without actually looking, tipping his head back and turning off his screen to help the process.... just. Tune out for a few hours, and he could go back home without a worry. Enjoy an actual bed.
Sometimes Axel wondered if he ever actually dreamed... his mind just slowly fizzled out as far as he could ever remember, like fading static on the old monitor that he actually was. Maybe he just forgot it... maybe he actually just... turned off.

good girls are bad girls
that haven't been caught
She could recall the first time the guy with the television for a head had come into the shop. In his defense there were some far stranger Quirks in the world beyond "beep boop I'm a robot", but even when she held that belief, there was a difference between knowing of the really out-there Quirks and actually seeing one walk in. Nemuri had been struck dumb for a couple of seconds the first time he'd asked for a room. But, hey, he was as much a good customer as any of the others she'd had, so after the initial surprise it faded into background noise like so much of the other weird and wonderful people that came to the Black Sand Cafe & Inn. After a couple of more times--it was hard to forget him, he just had that kind of a face--she'd asked him out of pure curiosity if he used the bed. "Do robots dream of electric sheep?" No, she hadn't asked it that way, but in hindsight she wished she had.And that was how the cafe acquired a very unusual guest in their main storage room.Today wasn't that special in terms of times Axel came in. It was nearing evening and Kabukicho was alive and well outside the windows of the shop, and inside it was a steady stream of customers either here for the coffee or to rent one of the rooms. Some came in couples and Nemuri snorted at their backs. This wasn't a love hotel! Well, it had been once upon a time, but maybe it was a compliment to how nice the rooms were that people preferred it to the more seedy or more eccentric options around here. Or maybe they had just come here for a friendly late coffee and things went very well for them. Whatever. Until she got a noise complaint it wasn't her business. Axel stumbled in, and, rather than Nemuri who greeted him right away, it was Misuzu as she seated more customers. Her bubblegum pink eyes went a little wide and worried for a moment, lithe hands reaching for a moment to held steady him on his way through the cafe. "Right away, sir! Um--are you okay? You're looking a bit..." Nemuri looked up from the cafe latte she was in the middle of making. Without pause she undid the latch on the gate to the back of the bar and let Axel tumble on by. She gave him a little lax smile and a nod as he made it through. Yikes. Somebody's battery percentage was in the red tonight. "Evenin'. Grinder's not running so there shouldn't be any noise. Enjoy your stay." And then away he went through the small hall to the side. In that hall were three doors: the one at the far end was the manager's office, the closest was the kitchen, and the one in the middle was the one to the storage room. As he passed the cook looked up, for a second, then went quietly back to his work. "Here's your latte, ma'am. That will be three-hundred and forty yen." Nemuri slid the pristine white mug to a woman at the bar, who took a moment to admire the little decal in the foam before placing her coins on the counter, which Nemuri picked up and added to the till. She then took a moment to write down "TV IN BACK ROOM" on the hotel's sign-in book, as well as the time he'd gotten in, because he had forgotten to. Come to think of it he had looked kind of bad wobbling in. Was he alright? Nemuri threw a glance towards the hallway. Hm. Maybe she should check on-- "Kuro-chan, one vanilla iced coffee with and a two cheese tarts!" Misuzu's voice brought Nemuri's attention back to the front of the bar before a small slip of paper was pushed into her hands. Misuzu grinned, sunny and warm despite being the only waitress on the floor. She then placed a bright blue mug on the counter in front of herself. "And a caramel macchiato with three shots, whipped cream, and an extra squirt of caramel for me, if you please!~" Nemuri snorted and took the order slip. "You're going to die from all that caffeine and sugar." Misuzu giggled. "Not before you do, Kuro-chan!" She didn't even try to protest as Misuzu turned back around at the sound of the bell above the door and went to help the newest customers. "Welcome to the Black Sand Cafe and Inn!"I would get rich if I could bottle her energy, Nemuri picked up the blue mug and set it aside for a second while she got a clear glass to fill with iced coffee and, well, ice. "Sohma, two cheese tarts!" She spoke up loud enough to carry across the hall. The faint sound of the icebox opening in the kitchen was the only clue she got that she'd been heard. The iced coffee was set on a tray and she took up the blue mug instead to prep Misuzu's third of the evening. Caramel sauce on the bottom, milk ready to foam, now to prep the espre--BANG! Nemuri leaped back with a start and hit her hip on the shelf behind her as the espresso machine suddenly fired off like a goddamn gunshot, and all heads in the cafe turned towards it. A few customers' hands had even jerked towards their hips, the insides of their jackets, or other places where the definitely were not holding any illegal weaponry. Nemuri breathed out a sharp huff. What had--why did--oh, fuck. Fuuuucking hell. That had not been a good sound.
"Sorry!! Just the...uh, espresso machine hating us! Sorry everyone!" She called out, raising her hands. Slowly the customers returned to their own business, though some hackles had definitely been raised. At least nobody had actually drawn anything on her. Whee. Nemuri groaned and started looking the machine over, while in her peripheral Misuzu fluttered between tables giving more apologies to the more startled customers. Through the doorway, a tall, gangling man with long black hair and a very obvious lip-ring-chain stepped through, holding two plates with two cheese tarts on them, looking completely nonplussed. Sohma placed the plates on the tray with the iced coffee before turning back to face Nemuri and the possessed espresso machine. "Ah...is it terminal?" He tilted his head, the palms of his hands leaning against the back shelf. "Want me to look?" "Last time you did your fingers melted together," Nemuri muttered as she opened the side of the machine. Nothing inside it made any sense to her. Of course. Why did she think she, with zero experience in tech, would know any better. "I can call a repair guy or bring it in tomorrow. Fuck me, that's no hot drinks for the night. Son of a bitch." Sohma fiddled with the chain connecting his lip to his earlobe. "Could ask the robot if he's good with machines." Nemuri scoffed. "He's a customer. And he looked ready to pass out. Or. Whatever it is he does. I'm not going to be that asshole who makes him wake up just to fix the--" She turned to look at Sohma, only to find him gone....of course.A second later, had he not already been woken by the noise, Sohma peeked his head into the storage room, ice-blue eyes looking at the screen like he was holding a perfectly normal conversation with a perfectly normal human head. "Hey, R.G.B, do you know how to repair tech? Our espresso machine's trying to start a gun-fight up front. Could get you the night for free, if you lend us a hand."

As much as Axel could admire the cute and bubbly features that had greeted him on his way in right now he was just too tired. With Ishtar handling those escaped prisoners and him needing to get fake credentials for them and also working on her robot army in sooooo many little bunkers all over town trying to get the prototypes functioning… ugh. He really just needed to recharge his batteries. He could feel those sparks in his TV head firing slower and slower…
“Mmm…” His little hum of confirmation back at Nemuri even came out like static, like his batteries were breaking out every other micro-second he was speaking, creating the distorted effect on even such a simple sound. He was appreciative though that there wouldn’t be much noise. It hardly mattered really, given how he ‘slept’, but… he appreciated the sentiment all the same. It was nice to be treated like he was normal afterall.
Sadly for him however, his ‘sleep’ lasted all of… heck he couldn’t even tell, his internal clock was still booting back up he was that low on the juice. With a vibrating hum his old monitor came back to life, a fuzzy but clearly angry emote appaearing on his screen as he ‘glared’ back at the person who woke him up… “What are you…” The fuck did ‘RGB’ mean? Ugh. Whatever. Apparently he was being offered the chance to work for his stay here tonight rather than paying… it wasn’t like he really had to worry about the money given how Ishtar covered his expenses but… ah what the heck. He pushed up against the wall behind him, a little wobbly as he got to his feet, his internal processes and the robotic equivalent of synapses still booting up and re-charging but he had enough motor in him to at least stand, looking the man dead in the eye with a deep sigh. “Can you at least get me a good extension lead…?”

Sohma nodded, taking a step into the storeroom to fish through the shelving at Axel's request. A little pushing through boxes of loose bits and bobs and he drew his hand back out with a proper thick extension cord, the sort with three prongs and seven or so inputs, and a nice long cord that could loop around a corner. A bit of overkill for a single television but it wouldn't hurt to have the whole thing to himself. "Sure. There's plugs in the hall, too."
When Axel rounded the corner, Nemuri had removed the panel on the top of the espresso machine as well as the one on the side, and looked ready to crack it in two if given the chance. She ran a hand up through her short red hair, mussing it to one side, before she noticed him approaching. "Ah--" Nemuri looked from Axel to Sohma, who was coming up behind him, and she scowled slightly. "I told you not to bother him. Look at him, he can barely stand."
Sohma raised and waved the extension cord in his hand like it was the answer to Nemuri's gripes.
"Just because he has a plug doesn't change that!" She bit back, before sighing, and looking at Axel. Compared to Sohma who towered above them both, he was only slightly taller than she was, and skinny as hell. Did he have a body under the TV head, or was he made of a metal frame like an actual robot? Whatever. He was here. Did that mean he was alright helping? "If...you feel up to it, and know your way around machinery, we really could use a hand here. Espresso machines are the worst. There's too many valves that can break in, like, six different ways each."
"Wasn't too bad last time." Sohma shrugged his shoulders, moving to plug in the extension cord into the hall outlet.
Nemuri glared at his retreating back. "You still got your hand melted. Don't worry about that, though," her golden eyes returned to Axel's screen, "I've already flushed the hot water out so that won't happen to you. If you...can even melt? Or would you just get a burn? I'm not an expert on the melting temps of different metals."
"I'm Ogasawara Nemuri, by the way. I'm the owner. Nice to actually meet you, outside the check-in process." She tried to smile, even if it came out more frustrated than she would have liked. She then pointed at the door. "That's Kojou Sohma, our chef and occasionally our fix-it guy, but only for, like, the kitchen appliances. Not this beast."

Feeling that chord wave was rather... flippant, in his face, Axel didn't feel any happier about being awoken from his slumber, but it was only right he make the effort. Even if he could afford to pay for the night thanks to his boss covering expenses like this it only seemed fair, and heck, if more criminals came through here it wouldn't hurt to havet hese guys subtly owe him one if it ever came to the worst case scenario. Unplugging himself, his legs immediately seemed to wobble. Or perhaps they just felt as they did. Was kinda hard to tell when you were made of rigid metal. He clung to the shelves and crates of spare cups and coffee blends as he made his way out to the main serving area, giving the red head a woozy wave, static periodically fizzling in and out on his screen. As he ran on minimal juice he basically bordered that line between being a person and just an out of juice TV, the inability to suppress the static screen being a peek at that fact.
"Don't worry. Don't worry I... just get me plugged in will you." He was clearly aiming his pissy tone at the one who awoke him, gesturing idly to a wall with no idea if there was even a plug socket there. once the extension was in he'd plug himself into that, the static on his face clearing out and rolling back his shoulders as he took in a fresh burst of 'initial juice'. It'd level out in a moment but it was still nice to indulge in for a second, stepping across to see what was up with the machine. "I'm good, just... don't rush me yeah?" That was all he could really ask for in exchange, what with his current state.
"Don't worry about me melting. I'm made of sturdier stuff than the boiling temp of water can affect... most it'll do to me is hurt like a bitch..." He rolled up the sleeves of his jacket, revealing the point his thicker gauntlet like forearms flowed into slimmer joints, getting a look at the machine. He layed his fabric coated hands upon it, a brief surge of sparks flowing from his fingers across the machine. Even with just a screen for a face looking at him it was easy to get the impression he'd 'closed his eyes' to take in whatever he was feeling, getting a sense for the machine and how it flowed despite never having personally worked with one before.
"... Okay. I can do this." Lifting one of his arms back, the gauntlet popped open on the underside, popping some tools out of place and into his other hand, laying them to the side one by one as he needed them before closing up his arm, getting to work once he had everything ready. "How long've you had this thing, by the way? Got the sense one of the parts was a bit out of date but... I never get the clearest sense till I actually look inside these things..."
With the woman introducing themself, Axel balanced a screwdriver on his shoulder against his neck joint, offering his hand across as he held a piece of the machine in place. "Axel Terebi. Sure you guys have that on your sign in sheet somewhere though..." He'd share a quick handshake before returning both his hands to the work. "... Seems counter intuitive... for an inn to sell coffee as it's main commodity..." He let out a bit of a tinny chuckle at the thought. "Guess that could be how you get them to stay an extra night. They never even slept on the first..."

"Absolutely no rush. I can comp a few people on their desserts if we need to serve 'em cold brew or something instead." Nemuri glanced at the platted cheese tarts. Misuzu would come up for those any second, and probably would have already asked the people who had ordered them what alternative drink they would prefer. She was quick on the uptake on things like that. Nemuri's eyes went back to the now less static-ey television head man. She finally could get a good view of him with him not either immediately in front of her or rushing around the counter on his way to the back room. Oh. Yeah, that was not a human body sticking out from under that coat.
Or pants. Nemuri snorted into her palm at that and hoped it would sound enough like a sneeze to go unnoticed.
Was he a mutation, or a transformation? Either way, that was pretty wild, and pretty cool.
"Well then try not to let it hurt like a bitch," she was grinning a little easier when she lowered her hand, and watching him work. It reminded her a little bit of a very old cartoon she had seen stills of before. Detective Appliance, wasn't it? He had the gadgets up his sleeve and everything, and really did seem to know what he was doing. Even if that also meant calling her out on her less-than-latest-model espresso machine. Nemuri's pale cheeks tinted a little red and she shrugged her shoulders sheepishly. "Errm...I've had it since opening this place up, so...fiiiiive years?" Though it had already been a somewhat older machine even before she'd purchased it. "That's not that bad is it? I like the way this one runs--call me a creature of habit?" Or just somebody with a hard time changing to newer tech.
Sohma had moved on back to the kitchen to both return to work and avoid more scolding from Nemuri. She took Axel's offered hand and gave it a shake. Huh. Shaking hands with a robotic skeleton was interesting. "Probably, but it's a bit weird to start callin' somebody by their name if you didn't get it from themselves." She grinned wider at his little laugh. She was trying to figure out where his voice came from. The speakers? How did he hear then... "Well it is a cafe first and foremost during the day. We have to serve some sort of coffee. I would also probably straight up pass out if I didn't get my caffeine fix every three hours."
"Besides, people don't need to worry about being kept awake here, no matter how much coffee's in their system. As long as they know what to ask for..." Nemuri glances sideways to make sure she didn't spot an unfamiliar face in the joint--or rather any that looked like an undercover cop, but how would she even know?--before she reached up for a shelf on the wall behind the bar. When she brought it back to eye-level she was holding a little glass jar, only about as tall as her thumb, full of black sand. She shook it and the little particles inside made a pleasant sound moving against one another and the glass itself.
"Just a bit of this on the eyes and they're out, and stay out til their alarm goes off. It's on the menu as 'black sugar' but--" she looked up at Axel from over the bottle, "--it's sand that puts people to sleep. Y'know, like the old fairy tale? The Sandman? Not to be confused with the trippy as hell comic by the same name...though that'd be cool."
She held the bottle in her palm and continued to watch Axel work, always a little fascinated just from seeing Quirks in action. And his was a dozy of one. In comparison, hers felt kind of wimpy. But everyone had their own set of skills.
"Not sure it'd work on somebody without organic eyes though, so I can't say it'd help with your exhaustion much."
A small pause. Her smile got a little wider, and she shrugged again.
"And before you ask, yes, I do have a very legal license to sell this. Very, very legal."

Axel scoffed a little, the tone coming out of his speakers making it clear he'd be smiling if he could. Typically he might flash an emoji to display his emotion more clearly but it was hard while he was still recharging. Maybe in a few minutes he could risk it but to flash an image like that while he was using so much processing power to run his brain while he fixed this thing... yeah he wasn't gonna risk suddenly letting his hand slip or something due to something as simple as a low battery. "I'll try not to then. Don't worry about the age though, these things are built to last. It just helps give me an idea of how it runs and what might have gone wrong. not all parts are made equal and all..." Another light chuckle as they mentioned needing their coffee fix. "Ya know what I can't even drink coffee and somehow I relate to that.~"
As he was working Axel would idly glance across as Nemuri revealed the little glass Jar. He'd caught the sideways glances so tried not to make a big deal of what he was seeing... huh. Sleep powder quirk or something? Or maybe it was just straight up a drug of some sort. The way Nemuri was describing it like a fairy tale made him think quirk. If it was a drug they'd have taken a more scientific approach to describing it, surely... "Huuuh... well I could definitely use some of that when I'm done here... my body tries to match as many biological responses as it can. You'd probably have to like... blow it into my vents or something, but it'd probably knock me out as good as any other person. Does any alarm work or do you have special ones here to help you wake up?" He was curious as to how it worked afterall, could it require specific tones or was it just simply a sleep aid?
When the 'legal license' was mentioned, Axel scoffed in disbelief and shook his head, wrenching a bit of old pipework out of the coffee maker. Nothing snapped, but it was clear it needed a bit of force to get out... there was the problem. Some of the steam must have been congealing in the pipes and created a blockage in a more physical state. A quick clean out of that and a replacement of a filter... He wouldn't bore Nemuri with the details though, replying to the comment. "Uuuuh huh... the sideways glances made it seem veeeery legal... like. Ishtar level legal."

Alright, not being shamed for their taste slash dependence on an older piece of machinery. Not like Axel had much room to talk give his head looked like it was a century or so out of style. Maybe he was going for a retro look. Or maybe he couldn't control what kind of head he had like most people in the world. "If anything needs total replacing let me know, I can get it online. Money isn't an issue especially not for keeping the shop going."
Huh. So maybe the sand would work on him after all, even if he didn't have eyes? Maybe, but... "It goes over the eyelids, so if not your vents then maybe over whatever part you see out of? I have no one-to-one ratio on what that could be. Your screen? Do you see through your screen?" Nemuri paused and frowned a little. "Quirk logic. Feh."
"Any alarm would work. As well as just any light touch--if somebody tries to move you, you'll jolt awake, and too loud a sound will get you up as well. The rooms upstairs are pretty sound-proofed so people can just sleep away til their alarm goes off without getting interrupted by somebody else walking by or the like."
Axel's one-off about Ms Number One Villain herself had Nemuri snickering. "Hey, I'll take Ishtar level legality over, like, Plutocracy level. One of them has a better record so far than the other." Nemuri slid the little jar back on the shelf. If Axel wanted to buy some she could give him the price later. Or maybe throw it in for fixing the machine? It wasn't like it didn't take her three second to produce more. Three seconds, and a shoddy night of sleep.
But that was going to happen anyway so why not make some use of it.
"Do you go online a lot? Like, using any chats, I'm not asking if you get wifi or anything." She tipped her head back. "I'm on breaddit all the time under Kurosuna. You see a lot weirder shit than little bottles of sand than in that mess."

“I wouldn’t worry too much about anything needing replacing. Really as old as it is it’s a good piece of kit… the newer models. That’s where you have to worry. Those things are designed to work solely ‘well’, not ‘long’. In my experience the older something is the longer it was designed to last. The more companies advance the shorter they want their shit to survive, cause it means you just come back to buy the next version when the old one breaks.”
He was starting to put the panels back into place by now as they were talking. If anything negative could be said about him it wasn’t that he wasn’t a fast worker. With his deft hands and precise motions he could typically fix something up in half the time it’d take anyone else, and as he popped the panels back into place, he’d glance across to the questioning coffee maker in his peripheral. “The screen. Scientists couldn’t really explain it when they took me apart without risking… killing me…” He shrugged, a dark memory but not one to harp on. “I have a theory it’s cause light reflects off the glass screen but… really who knows. A lot of quirks break science as we know it. Best not to blow a circuit worrying about it. End of the day I’m not blind so I’m not complaining.”
Dusting off his hands he let out a scoff about Ishtar. “Personally… I don’t know where I stand. The plutocracy… no one knows what they’re planning but that’s by design. Ishtar? I think people don’t know what she’s doing just because she doesn’t have a plan. She seems to just pick out her activities on a whim and… maybe there’s some grand plan behind it but I dunno…”
He shook off the thought, best not to shit talk his own boss too much. He gave a light jab of his elbow to the machine’s side, before resting his palm on it, a brief flash of numbers and equations on Axel’s screen as sparks radiated from his hand and he backed off. “There, try it now. I can dig back into it if need be.”

Aww yeah, nothing like being validated for your preference for older tech by a literal robot slash android slash cyborg person to make your day. Nemuri did a small fist pump on the side of her body not in direct view of Axel as he continued popping panels into place. "Yeah, I know, right?? It's ridiculous. It's like some of these tech companies are more interested in making money than creating long lasting and reliable products. Who would've thunk it." Thankfully you didn't run into that problem with Ogasawara Corp. They made clothes. If clothes fell apart every time a new model came out then, well, odds are people would just stop buying such poorly made clothing. It wasn't like shirts got more (or less) arm holes with every new line of them like certain phones did.
Nemuri's calm, friendly face dropped a little, her brow knitting and leaving a little knot of wrinkles over the rim of her glasses. Mm. Scientists digging too much into Quirks was turning into a tale as old as time. People like herself and her coworkers didn't know what that felt like, but mutants got the worst of that. Poor sod. He moved quickly from that point so she wouldn't press it either. "I mean, that's how eyes work, so I'm just going to logic it as it's one big glass eye. If you want I can comp you for fixing old reliable here with one of these. And if it doesn't work, eh, we can stick to whatever Sohma said to get you over here. Still sorry about that. You didn't need to. So. Thanks, again."
She stepped up in front of the espresso machine as Axel stepped away, getting a cup full of whole coffee beans and pouring them into the built-in grinder. It came to life with a pleasant, normal buzz. "Good start!" Nemuri hummed, pleased with that, and kept speaking as she moved through the steps of making a simple espresso. "So unknown plan and no plan at all, and then there's the Kohayashi whose plan seems to be conquering Tokyo. Hmm. I think I'll stand where I am right now: watching the parade while keeping out of the direct line of fire. It's worked so far."
So far.
"Ahh, it looks like you got it running! Wonderful!" Misuzu's bubbly voice piped up as she approached the bar, leaning on her elbows to look over at Nemuri's handy work, blonde ringlets falling to frame her face and collarbone. Her bubblegum pink eyes flickered up to Axel's screen and she smiled brighter. "Oh! Hello, sir! Did you fix it? Thank you so much for your help! Are you feeling better, since when you came in?"
Nemuri started steaming the milk, which didn't result in a horrible loud gun-shot like sound. The only sounds it made were the soft bubbling and fizzing noises of milk as it steamed. "Well, first test run and nothing exploded! Yay."

Axel scoffed a little at the cheeky comments about thanking himself for buying an older model to make sure it lasted. Really it was always the way to go. Whatever costs you had restoring an old machine like this were probably covered over the years from the fact you wouldn’t need to keep replacing a newer model of the same thing. He was proud of the work he’d done to make sure it was up and running, turning about on his heels and resting his tinny ass against the counter as he cleaned off his hands on a rag he found nearby. Likely usually used to clean the coffee machine anyway. “Don’t worry too much. You guys do me a service even letting me charge up in the back but er… sure. Why not. I’ll give the sand a go when I’m going back to sleep. I got a good bit of battery in me anyway so if ya don’t mind me running a wire from the wall to a seat I may just stay up and do some work or something anyway…” He genuinely hadn’t decided.
He didn’t have much to say on all the criminal organizations buuuut… “Kobayashi?” He’d innocently ask… was that the name for Thunder’s ‘yakuza’? He hadn’t really bothered to learn. He’d just been calling them the ‘cock squad’ from how much they liked to measure their own-
Oh. It worked. Good!
“Well I better unplug myself at least and make a decision on if I’m staying up or going back into the storage room…” He had one hand on the plug socket when the sound of a more feminine voice caught his audible input, looking across to the cute blonde he’d half dismissed in his dazed state on the way in, feeling his inner wiring heat up a bit and feeling glad he couldn’t blush.
“Er…heheh. Yeah. Feelin’ a bit better now that I got some juice in me… thanks…” He awkwardly rubbed at the back of his neck. Since getting a bit more comfortable with himself, some thanks to Sonya on the confidence boosts working with her borderline demanded, he was finding himself getting flustered by girls again… what a curse it was. He'd probably get over it soon enough, wasn't like he could... put his money where his mouth was on that one.

good girls are bad girls
that haven't been caught
"Your call, obviously. I don't mind if you plug in; people do it with their laptops or phone chargers down here or in their room, so it's not like we don't allow it. And if anyone says anything snide about it I'll pour some hot milk on them. But I don't think anyone would. My customers are smarter than that." That the majority of those here at this hour were Quirkers themselves didn't hurt either--nobody but the least self-aware prick would pick at another Quirker for their looks or what they needed to do to stay alive. Hopefully nobody she knew was like that.
Nemuri nodded. "That's the Yakuza clan that runs most of this part of Tokyo. All the shops deeper in are either run by or pay money to them. We're right on the fringe of Kabukicho, but even I've seen one or two guys with tattoos come in here that probably belong to that 'family'. Never seen the big guy himself, though."
And as fun as it might be to serve Thunder Shock a coffee she wasn't sure she or her clients could handle that.
As she kept making the drink (and prepping to make those that had been ordered before the machine went "boom") Nemuri snickered a little at Axel's body language. D'aww. Misuzu tended to have that sort of effect on people. It was probably the tiny frame and big eyes and cute heart-shaped face and pretty pink lips--okay, now she was the one thinking about it. But. It was okay to think too much about why your partner was so cute, right?
Misuzu put a lithe hand against her collarbone and breathed a small sigh of relief. "I'm glad to hear that! You always look on the verge of falling asleep when you come through here, I've been wondering and worrying! I hope So-chan didn't wake you up too early..." she glanced at Nemuri, "And that Kuro-chan has been friendly towards you."
"Your lack of faith wounds me, Misuzuchi." Nemuri placed the finished espresso on a little white saucer, then started on the caramel macchiato that Misuzu had asked for. Misuzu rolled her eyes before her attention returned to Axel.
"If there is anything else I can help you with, let me know! I can show you to a table with an outlet beneath it? Or maybe get you a chair if you're planning on going back to the storeroom? Or at least a cushion?"
Nemuri tilted her head back a bit. Could he even feel how uncomfortable it must have been, "sleeping" on the floor? Or did he not have nerve endings in that metal frame of his? He said it would hurt if he got burned by the machine so it sounded like he did. That must have been some advance wiring going through his body...unless he was just organic on the inside of that metal, somehow, and just naturally had nerve endings because it was his "skin".
That sounded more far fetched than him just being a super advance machine but, hey, Quirk logic.
That sort of tech could be really useful for people whose nerve endings were broken...like Sohma...
"One caramel macchiato with way too much added sugar and caffeine for the blonde," Nemuri quipped and slid a glass mug full of hot golden coffee toward Misuzu, topped with a thick layer of steamed milk. It almost looked like a beer but less opaque and gently steaming. Misuzu picked it up and blew on it gently, lips forming a little 'o' on the rim of the mug before she dared to try a sip. She let out a pleased hum, and Nemuri put her hands on her hips. "Now are you just here to sweet-talk Axel here or do I have more orders?"
"No new orders." Misuzu lowered her mug and giggled adorably. "And I'm not sweet-talking! I'm being friendly!"
"Yeah with maximum moe power activated." Nemuri's smirk only grew as Misuzu stuck her tongue out at her. She gave Axel an equally teasing smile. "This your type, metal man? Tiny and diabetes inducing?"
"That's also your type, Kuro-chan..." Misuzu mumbled with a little pout.
"So? I'm allowed to make fun of my own lack of complexity."

(Shit sorry this one fell off my radar for a bit)
Axel gave a casual shrug as he was told he could just plug in anywhere. It felt better to ask afterall. Either way he was gonna be leeching off their power a fair bit to get his ‘beauty rest’ so to speak but he worried that just plugging himself in on the shop floor was gonna be a hazard. Some places did have sockets for that sort of thing afterall and sooooome…. Didn’t. Easy enough sentence to finish really. Just how some places worked but he shoulda guessed a coffee shop wouldn’t be unused to every other passerby wanting to charge their phones while they sat down for a drink. “Fair enough, I could use a bit of er… ‘coffee time’. Sans the coffee of course.”
Axel let out a tinny sigh as Nemuri mentioned the Yakuza thugs dropping by. Bold enough to ask- “They give you any trouble? Protection money or any of that bull crap they tend to tout to extort y’all?” He wasn’t exactly working out of an area that had such problems afterall, but he knew well enough they definitely existed. He couldn’t exactly do much if Nemuri was having problems of course but… well, maybe he could subtly nudge Sonya to get a foothold here or something and just make sure the coffee shop got left neutral territory. He assumed it already was given the nature of it but… it was a good place, he wanted to know if he could help he supposed.
With Misuzu’s arrival Axel was clearly a little ‘flustered’ but tried to keep a level head. Honestly with the fact he could literally turn off the main way he displayed his emotions it spoke to how characterful he was in his body language from the fact he was seemingly an open book despite the lack of a face to read. “Y-yeah well.. long hours what can I say. Hard to really get a union when you work with the people I do…” He chuckled, trying to make a fairly bad joke… honestly if Sonya had her way he could imagine a villain union being somewhere on her weird ass list of priorities… “He absolutely did wake me up though. Slap him for me or something.” He coldly added at an attempt at some dryer humor.
“As far as what you can get me, a table with an outlet seems just fine. I think I’m going to be staying up while I recharge at this rate…” He shrugged. “I mean I don’t NEED to sleep once I got some juice in me so why waste the time eh? Assuming me staying up late ain’t a bother to you guys of course…” He didn’t really like being an issue to people.
When he was called out for his type Axel felt like his processors were heating up enough to ALMOST give him a blush through all the metal, but he just hung his head mumbling. “C-can I just get a table please?” He wasn’t sure but… he was starting to get the vibe these two might be a couple so best not stick his foot in his mouth.

good girls are bad girls
that haven't been caught
Nemuri was quiet for a moment as she considered Axel's question in her mind. It could have just been a casual Kabukicho conversation--"So are you being racketed by the mob? Me too!" said nobody, ever--or it could be something more than that. Vigilantes did frequent the streets as often as villains and other small criminals. Nemuri didn't take sides but she also didn't want to get in the middle of something to start with. A good-meaning vigilante deciding to protect her shop from Kobayashi thugs might sound nice, and honestly their shop was small enough that maybe they wouldn't care, but on the off chance his protection actually brought more fire down on them...that would be bad. She shook her head. "Nah. I think we're just on the edge enough to not be a location of interest. And since I and my workers don't report them when we do see them we aren't on their bad side. Small enough not to matter but not dumb enough to get squished; that's how you survive here. Or something. Sounded poetic in my head."
Misuzu clicked her tongue against her teeth, her glossy lips pursed into a little pout. "I won't hit him but I'll definitely give him a stern talking to! Customers are customers even when they're in the storeroom. Stupid So-chan." She gave Nemuri a suspicious glance. "I bet you didn't even try to stop him."
Nemuri gawked, exaggerated, and put a hand on her chest. "Wow! Rude! I told him not to! And I had an exploding espresso machine to worry about. And I'll totally slap him for you upside the head, if you slip me a hundred yen. Hundred fifty and I'll leave a mark~" She met Misuzu's following glower with another wide grin. Between that and Axel's mumbled little murmurs this was just too much fun. "Whaaaat, he deserves it. And he might like it!"
Misuzu sighed and stepped towards the gate that closed off the back of the bar from the rest of the room, and then gestured out with her arm in a "follow me" mannerism. "Of course, sir. Would you prefer to be closer to the window, or closer to the bar? And is there anything I could get to make the experience more pleasant?"
"And don't worry about staying up too late, insomnia's a bitch and it isn't like we don't have rooms you can stay in when the cafe closes," Nemuri waved him off, "Now shoo, before I think of other appliances you could fix for me."

“MMmm…” Hummed out Axel’s tinny speakers. Really he wanted to insist he could offer some help but… well if they said they were okay, they were okay. Axel knew from some experience with Sonya and people she tried to work with that sometimes too much generosity and pushing that on someone could lead to more frustration and annoyance than you might expect. He gave simply a quick nod, resting his hands deep in the pockets of his loose fitting bomber jacket. “Well if you guys say so. I mean you invite villains in to rest up on the reg so I’m sure you must know what you’re doing to take that risk.”
He let out a light chuckle from his speakers as it became more clear the two were just having some playful back and forth, Axel briefly dipping his head back into the store room and grabbing the bag he’d left back there, coming back to the question of where he’d like to sit. “Er… window seat would be nice. And… maybe a pillow?” He chuckled and reached back, a light squeak as he rubbed his metal deriare. “I bet you can imagine it’s hard to get comfortable when you have a metal frame like this for a body.” He gave a casual shrug, basically just making a joke at his own expense.
With the final tease about getting more appliances for him to fix, Axel briefly rubbed his hands together with a bit of malice in mind, and then ruffled the hair of the red head as he passed by to find a seat. He’d generated a rough static charge between the heavier fabrics his ‘gloves’ were made of, plus the constant charge running through his palms to allow him to ‘communicate’ with other electronics, chuckling as it left his head a rather frizzy mess. “Yeah I best get going.~” He teased, shooting a tongue pull emoji on his screen as he left the bar area.
