Yumi was feeling a lot better since her first round with Feng. Really she didn’t even like the fact that even held up as a thought process. That FENG was the one she’d had the most issues with here and Kirk was actually the one who revitalized her excitement and enthusiasm when she’d been going into all of this. Guess that was just the situation she was in… honestly she never pegged Feng for the jealous type but she supposed that was just how she was. Kirk on the other hand was so upbeat and helped her recognize the fun she could have when pushing her quirk and testing herself and… for all purposes, putting on a show so to speak. She was kinda glad she got that before going into this round cause…
Hoo boy. This was gonna be a round…
If she’d came into this all with the foggy, win at all cost mentality she’d ended up going at Kirk with after Feng, she probably wouldn’t be in for any sense of a ‘good time’ here. With no offense to the other competitors Tetsuko was the one to look out for. Even after 2 years together, getting a sense that Tetsuko may have suffered somewhat in the face of her electrical quirk, she didn’t put it past the young woman to easily have devised a counter for that weakness and for them to be pretty evenly matched. Yumi had some ideas. Keep her at range. Force her to suffer long range attacks and put her at the mercy of her speed but… if she lost with all that she wouldn’t let it go easily with the win mentality. Nah. She was just gonna go into this looking for a good fight and… well, hope for the best she supposed. Why worry so much about it? It wasn’t like it was career ending if she lost or any dumb crap like that!~
Slipping on her hero costume and dipping out of the chainging room, Yumi rested her goggles atop her head and her 4 lightning rods attatched to her hips. Due to the fact they were gonna be indoors this time she opted for the spring edition of her hero costume, a slight midrift but full legs and arms. Allowed for a bit more freedom of movement and she could control her fight a bit better with the streams of electricity emenating from her waist. For now though of course she wasn’t holding a charge, just heading along the hallway to the arena with some curiosity to the theme. London square, Stone henge… what’d be next.
It took her a second to really recognize what it was supposed to be, if she was honest. Stepping out into a room of giant gears and clockwork pieces, Yumi managed to let it click that they were in an over-sized recreation of big ben, a smirk cutting into her cheek as she noticed the giant clock faces covering the walls as the entrance to the arena closed up behind her, her eyes turning ahead again as she noticed Tetsuko, offering her a warm smile and hopping up to the central gear of the arena, walking across to cut the distance between them.
“Heeeey Tetsu… glad to see you didn’t get knocked out any earlier than you deserve.~” That… god that sounded weird when it came out. Like it was some weird insult but she did mean it. Tetsu was a big presence in the school, from running the DC to just generally being a badass in her own right, so Yumi liked to see she hadn’t been knocked out in some fluke in the first or second round, offering her a warm if somewhat nervous smile thanks to her feeling of a verbal slip up. Before they got down to it, she’d offer her hand across to Tetsu.
“Whoever wins this one, I don’t think I’ll be complaining if I lose to you… may gloat just a little if I win but, just a smidge.~” She offered a little playfully, sticking the tip of her tongue out. Hopefully Tetsu would take the offer of a handshake, and with that Yumi would make her way to her starting position, stretching out her arms and legs briefly before lowering into a ready position, her goggles brought down over her eyes, and her body turned alight with the blue electrical energy that coated her skin and hair while her quirk was active.

Spring. Summer. Autumn. Winter.
The Four Seasons, as a conceptual framework, formed the basis of Tetsuko's style of swordsmanship. Spring was the force of acceleration, it was initiative and forethought. Such a direct approach was extremely useful in closing the distance to the less physically-capable Haruuhi in the first round. Summer, on the other hand, was maintaining momentum. It was consistent focus and motion, against other forces. Though her obstacles were more mental than physical, this form had still helped her greatly against Jisatsu...
Now, Tetsuko faced a more equal opponent than either of these previous matches. One that would likely necessitate not only the flexibility and changing forms of Autumn, but also the steadiness of Winter... Yet, Tetsuko didn't know if the latter was within her grasp. She was still facing her own internal problems, and her resolve felt lacking. Yet, that desire to improve herself beyond this mental wall lingered. One thing that helped that greatly... Was her opponent.
Yumi Tasukai was a strong student in her own right, but her Quirk was also a natural counter to Tetsuko's. Even if she couldn't confidently say what she fought for in this tournament, Tetsuko still felt within her that desire to face such a challenge. To test herself, to better herself. The threat Yumi posed paradoxically calmed Tetsuko. As it let her focus more on overcoming herself than providing the win her family desired...
Perhaps that steadiness would finally let her comfortably use the last form, the Winter that she'd not yet grasped.
Tetsuko breathed deeply as these thoughts swam through her mind, uncertain but still focused. Even if she didn't know why she fought, now that she knew more about her family, if her foe was strong enough, she could fight for its own sake. She could win. Even if not against her, than against these damnable doubts.
Letting out one final breath, Tetsuko would tighten the simple haori that served as the main piece her makeshift hero suit. Creating one had been a troublesome task for a busy girl, so she still wore the Shinsengumi-inspired uniform for now.
Any and all other preparation was purely mental. Tetsuko strove forth, stepping into their next arena... Only to find quite the interesting set up. They were surrounded by metal clockwork, something that might prove equal parts danger and boon. Taking not of her surroundings briefly, Tetsuko than set her eyes on her opponent. Yumi's words stung in an odd way, unintentionally prying at Tetsuko's doubts about how much she deserved to be at this point. But it was too late for second guessing.
A bit stiff and focused, Tetsuko remained wordless until the hand was offered, before she gave a small smile and accepted it. "Let us hope this doesn't end in a draw, then." The Shindou girl joked lightly, recalling how... unsatisfying last year's bout against Darren had been. As they start approached, Tetsuko would return to the starting position, where she set herself into a relaxed stance. Yet to create any kind of weapon, she instead began moving her joints and muscles, feeling the iron flow through them as she methodically loosened up, letting her strength surge through her...
'Autumn Form: Both Extremes as One...'
At the sound of the match's start, she'd be ready to act; to cut through the storm however she could.

Tetsuko may have seemed a little 'on edge' so to speak, or maybe it was Yumi's own paranoia, but whatever the case, living up to what little of a mental image Yumi had of the girl, she seemed to be able to remain calm and put on a good face for her opponent. Yumi didn't really know tetsuko much, or what to expect. She felt the girl had a reputation about her of some kind but for the life of her Yumi didn't have any personal impressions to go off of. Now and then she put the DC foot down in chat but other than that? Nada. Personality wise, Yumi only had the loose whispers here or there to go off of, and she hardly paid attention to second hand info like that till she got to know someone personally first.
Of course, that kinda hinted at the other issue the two combatants had. An advantage and a disadvantage in turn. Being from seperate classes, unlike anyone she'd faced in a tournament before Yumi didn't have the intimate knowledge a classmate would of their fellow students strengths and weaknesses. She knew Tetsuko's quirk, of course. She could guess at some weaknesses... but was there a limit to shapes she could make? How quick she could go from one weapon to another? Small things like that that could give her the advantage were missing but... in turn, Tetsuko likely knew very little beyond the surface level of her own quirk, so it balanced out...
Speaking of which though... that trick she'd been saving... Yumi knew she better use it sooner rather than later. Why risk being knocked out before she could use the trump card she'd been saving afterall...?
The sound came for the match to start, and Yumi darted forward like a rocket.
Sparks flew off ahead of her and like a charge surging down a wire of her own making she followed the pattern created ahead of her. Typically Yumi would purposely zig-zag to throw opponents off and also just get used to the eratic motions more and more herself. Not this time. It was a beeline straight for Tetsuko. She wanted to test what her quirk was like, and first was it's reaction time. Hoping to give the impression she was coming in fore a close range attack, Yumi wanted to bait Tetsuko into bringing out a sword or some other Melee weapon. Still far from in range of a melee swipe, she changed course in an instant, a jagged curve of darting zips flowing over Tetsuko's head, coming down behind her, Yumi slipping a hand up her hip to grab one of her lightning rod gadgets, pulling it out and hopefully into Tetsuko's face as the woman would turn to face her opponent.
Yumi's trump card.
The forward half of the gadget popped open from four seperate panels, and those 4 panels spread open , revealing a reflective surface all in an instant. In the very next, the electricity stored in the rod would surge, creating a blinding flash that was further amplified by the reflective coating of the gadget, ensuring a majority of the light was directed at Tetsuko, and not Yumi.
Succesful or not, Yumi would surge backwards after briefly touching the floor, landing on one of the higher gears to observe the results, should Tetsuko not find a way to stop her attempt at escape.

A battle was won by knowing your enemy's 'timing', and using a 'timing' that the enemy did not expect.
Tetsuko had taken those words to heart long ago, a they'd been passed down by countless swordsmen, originating from Miyamoto Musashi himself. Following this theory had been how she'd won many battles before, but now, she wondered if it could truly aid her here. The obvious features aside, Tetsuko knew very little about Yumi's Quirk and way of fighting, and had concerns about how she herself might be able to surprise the lightning wielder. With their mutual lack of knowledge, Tetsuko couldn't but feel at a disadvantage, given the natural weakness of her Quirk to electricity...
At the same time though, she could be certain that Yumi at least suspected this weakness. That in and of itself may pose an opportunity.
Continuing her purposeful loosening of her muscles, Tetsuko awaited the start of the match. Given the tactical weaknesses she had to deal with, the Shindou girl had to play this smart. Carefully, without showing too much of her hand. Then, burst forth with the power of change that defined this Autumn. The swordswoman took a stance, still yet to draw a weapon, and awaited the beginning. The first moves were vital to setting the tone, so Tetsuko utilized her inner tactics to consider Yumi's starting attack.
'Yumi-san is somewhat level-headed... It's unlikely she'll try to take me on in close quarters.'
Few people were willing to take her on in her optimal range, and she didn't peg Yumi as the type to take that risk. So, when the round began, and Yumi began making a beeline for Tetsuko, the swordswoman was immediately surprised. This was unexpected, and also enlightening...
'Wait... Use your post-initiative...'
Tetsuko breathed in deep, holding her hands out in front of her and maintaining a firm stance. Yumi neared, and she waited... The principle of go no sen dictated initiative following the start of your opponent's attack... And Yumi was still winding up. The Shindou girl clasped her hands together, bringing them back in her stance...
The lightning wielder's path became clear, as the sparks surged overhead. An indicator of her movement, perhaps? 'From behind!' Yumi's attack had begun, so Tetsuko acted, iron flowed from both her hands as they parted, quickly forming a shortsword that she thrust behind her in backhand grip, aiming to intercept Yumi just as she landed. Her other hand was raised to guard her head, as he neck turned to her rear... However, her hand alone could not block light.
If Yumi had still raised the tool to Tetsuko's face in spite of the thrusting blade, the Shindou girl would quickly be taken aback by it. She ducked her head, swung her blade around to try and strike Yumi's wrist, but it wouldn't stop the light itself. Her eyes were stung in an instant, and the immediate blindness forced her to act. Not knowing if another attack was coming to follow up, Tetsuko would pull her blade back in a guard as she turned towards Yumi, just as the girl retreated up to a higher gear.
Her vision was blurred somewhat, light stinging the edges of her view. It wasn't the kind of trick that was going to work repeatedly, but Yumi had used the element of surprise for its initial effects, and it was up to Tetsuko now to deal with the results.
'She had a good chance to follow up... But chose to create distance instead. She's not going to willingly enter my optimal range, it seems. And that flash was to prevent me from intruding on hers... So that's her strategy... Hm....'
Fighting the urge to act rashly that came with her affected vision, Tetsuko narrowed her eyes on Yumi, having some greater awareness of the other girl's planned timing. Quite a troublesome strategy, it seemed.
'...But if I can't change and adapt, I've no chance of using that form...
With another deep breath, Tetsuko would stand up straighter, seeming to abandon her stance as she held the shortsword in a loose mid-section guard. Slowly, and carefully, the Shindou girl began walking forward, towards the bottom of the section gears that Yumi had taken as refuge. In order for when to expect change, they needed to be patient...

Tetsuko was as sharp as her blades, she’d give the girl that. Yumi always knew the disadvantage of her ability to move at such speeds. She effectively had to fire a weak but present charge ahead of herself and drag her body along the lines she created, but that also meant for a split second before each motion her opponents could see where it was she was trying to go. A troublesome weakness of her situation to be sure, and one Tetsuko quickly took advantage of. With a swing of her swiftly created blade as she turned, Yumi felt a slash against her mid-section, wincing as the pain radiated up her torso, but still going through with her plan to blind Tetsuko all the same. It had been her plan from the get go afterall, and if she could keep the girl at range and limit her options to follow up, Yumi felt she could maintain a strong advantage.
When she fled into a retreat, Yumi caught her breath for a moment atop the higher gear, the platforms starting to slowly turn against one another, meaning even as she crouched she wasn’t remaining stationary. Still she had a moment to inspect herself. A hand crossed over her stomache, feeling for the wound. Her constant flow of electricity had already dried the blood and sealed the blood vessel, so she wasn’t about to be risking bleeding out throughout the entire fight. The real disadvantage was the slight, but present cut through her costume. Yumi’s ability to maintain her quirk like this relied heavily on her costume, and while it had gotten better over the years, the more cuts her costume received, the more energy she’d be burning to maintain her constant charge. Right now the cut was slight enough that no more than a few idle sparks surged from it, barely noticeable by even herself the cut was so fine… but dealing with an opponent who focused on sharp weaponry? Yeah. It was something to watch out for.
Her amber eyes flowed back down to the initial gear they’d both used as their starting platform, biting the inside of her bottom lip. Her opening gambit had been effective if not without risk, she just needed to start taking advantage of it now.
Strands of electricity locked her heels down onto the moving gear as Tetsuko tried to get closer, trying to take advantage of the metal surfaces to magnetise herself to them and assure her footing, cutting the charge as she tried to move over to the next gear, leaping across, careful not to waste energy using her quirk. Thanks to glueing herself with each step she managed to keep pretty steady footing despite the moving platforms as she tried to use the higher gears to move around her opponent, even running along one of the side-ways gears as she tried to put some distance between herself and the grounded girl.
“How ya’ doin’ down there Tetsuko?~ Doubt making a ladder will do you much good here!”
Still trying to conserve energy while she tested the waters, as she tried to do loops around the higher gears on foot, Yumi would periodically take simple, light pot shots down at her opponent, firing off bolts of electricity at Tetsuko’s location. The first few might go slightly wide, Yumi having to adjust to all the conductive surfaces messing with the natural aim of her shots, but she’d gotten more than used to that training with her lightning rod gadgets, so after a handful, her aim was as on point as ever.

Tetsuko hadn't exactly known what to expect of Yumi's approach to combat before the beginning of the match. However, what few assumptions she did have were not turning out to be all too accurate, as the Shindou girl continually tried to figure out the other girl's 'timing'. In that process, there were some... Lucky revelations, per se, as Tetsuko's attempted counterattack landed true, seeming to damage Yumi's suit. Though it probably wasn't worth the cost of having her sight damaged, being able to land a hit that damaged Yumi and her gear may serve Tetsuko's own inner tactics, or so she felt...
As Yumi fled into a retreat, and Tetsuko began cautiously approaching, the swordswoman considered what Yumi's plan might be. More than that, really... Tetsuko wanted to try and discern what Yumi was feeling about the fight in general.
'It's clear she intends to make the most of her advantages... I can safely assume the 'core' of her strategy... And yet...'
Well, at least it was obvious Yumi wanted to make the most of her leg up in vertical movement. In that sense, this arena was highly suited to her, leaving Tetsuko not much room to make an approach. The few methods that would get her up high were rather risky as long as Yumi held that ground. Furthermore, Yumi was quite fine with just changing position while maintaining the positional advantage, not that Tetsuko could likely hit anything with her eyes still flooded with light. Squinting up at the other girl, Tetsuko heard her taunt, and gave light grin in her response.
"It's quite nice down here, really. Not that I could persuade you to join me. It would some our 'optimal ranges' are quite incompatible..."
Turning this fight into one of range control wasn't something Tetsuko was too keen on. Fortunately, something curious about Yumi's approach did catch her attention, something she might be able to use to her advantage...
Before she had much of a chance to strategize, however, Yumi began making her attacks. As expected at this point, Yumi was still playing it safe, firing off low-risk pot shots, as though to try and test the waters. The first couple went wide, the Shindou girl gritting her teeth slightly as she kept on eye on Yumi, the swordswoman remaining on the move for now, chasing Yumi but without too much 'haste'.
When an accurate bolt came her way, however, Tetsuko had to act. Without hesitation, she discarded the blade in her hand, throwing it at the bolt to intercept. Her shortsword would 'catch' the lightning, so to speak, before embedding itself in one of the many gears around them. The electricity was simply taking the path of least resistance, and if Tetsuko could 'trap' it within her iron while discarding it, that did the job just fine. This wasn't at all a perfect method, as it was more intensive than just, say, taking the hits, but it was effective for now.
When the other shots came, Tetsuko would fling other shards of iron at them, clumsy and misshapen constructs projected from her palm. Although not fully dispelling the electricity, such that she still felt some of the sting, but enough to dispatch some of the sparks at least. Enough to not have her feel the full weight of her own weakness...
However, she couldn't remain on the defensive for long, and Tetsuko needed to test her inner tactics. Forming another blade, this time a full katana in her free hand, the Shindou girl would began moving towards Yumi's position with haste this time, dashing forth and slashing with her blade...
Only, her target wasn't Yumi herself. But rather, the gear or supporting frame that was closest to her, in an attempt to try and destabilize the upper area somewhat!

Yumi was playing to her strengths here no matter what. With Kirk, with no offense aimed at the sporty hero, she had some luxury to let loose and have a fun fight over aiming solely for the win, but with Tetsuko she still needed to take things seriously even if she didn't have such an intense weight in winning here. She juuuust needed to make sure she didn't give Tetsuko any advantages by getting up close and personal when she didn't have to... just had to play entirely to her strengths here.
WHen Tetsuko showed even blinded she could defend herself well Yumi knew she'd have to move soon. Preferably she wouldn't waste any energy flying but she may have to as Tetsuko took the opportunity to charge towards her, Yumi suring up her footing, expecting some anime level run up the side of kears to reach her, but instead Tetsuko kept charging beyond any obvious ways up to Yumi and straight for the pillar that supported the gear she was standing on. It took a second to click, but as Yumi watched her bring her blade forward the intention became rapidly clear.
"Ya know I'd be more impressed if you weren't about to kick my ass cutting through metal!" She teasrd a little, but as she felt the structure beneath her briefly jolt before starting to tilt to the side as the upper-holdings snapped from needing to carry all the weight now, Yumi stuck with the platform for a fait chunk of time, gluing her feet down as she watched it tilt and start to collapse, her eyes shifting upwards and taking a deep breath as she chose to fly.
A burst of sparks off her current surface, she sent her body soaring through the air off towards the gears in the distance, trying to keep high off of Tetsuko's level and give the girl a hard time chasing her. From experimenting with Red the blinding effect of her gadget wouldn't be lasting much longer and she needed to work on keeping and utilizing the advantage she had while it lasted. The leak in her costume made gaining such distance, the speed she used and her ability to fly, a much more draining process, even such a small leak causing a lot of excess stamina to be waisted on such an act. All the same, by the time she was done darting across the arena, she'd gained a good chunk of distance between herself and Tetsuko once more.
"Sorry hun, just can't afford to make this easy on ya!"
Throwing her arms forward, tendrels of electrical enery burst outward and grasped at the metal gears in the now damaged structures above Tetsuko's head, many still hanging on but with the gears they relied on having toppled, all it took was a hard tug from Yumi's magnetic forces to start dragging it all down, trying to bring a large chunk of the upper platforms around Tetsuko crashing down towards her, forcing her to either move or cur a way through the chaos. At least, thats the only option set Yumi assumed she was granting Tetsuko...

Tetsuko was beginning to realize this wasn't the kind of fight she could win by relying on 'tradition'... Although her style of swordsmanship had the benefit of hundreds of years of teachings, none of them could teach her how to fight a lightning-wielding opponent in the interior of a clocktower. No, for this, Tetsuko had to apply her own experience, her own skills, in a situation entirely unique to her... It was a little liberating, really. Knowing that tradition did not bind her fighting style, that she could adapt and become more than those who cam before... If she could mold herself to this 'change' that came with the unique circumstances, could she understand the turning tides of Autumn? Tetsuko certainly hoped so, and that it might in turn let her truly understand the worth of her art... That it might let her understand what worth she had if she cast her family's pride aside. Tetsuko needed to see the challenge, and face it. Fortunately, she was on her way to doing just that. On the baseline, Tetsuko was at several disadvantages. Despite her musing about optimal ranges, the fact of the matter is, she was in Yumi's, and not the other way around. So she had to find some other strength to play to, and some other weakness to exploit... Whether it be physical, or mental. Taking out the support structure to Yumi's platform was an aim at both of these goals. Yumi did what Tetsuko expected her to do - she took flight. It seemed advantageous for Yumi to fly more, and this proved it. The pieces were falling into place. Once again, Yumi put a lot of distance between them, leaving her intentions clear. The swordswoman really had misunderstood Yumi's approach... Or, perhaps, it was rather that these circumstances were changing how Yumi fought. Before she could think more on that. the electricity-wielder unleashed her counter-attack. Tendrils of electricity grabbed the gears above Tetsuko, and made her next move clear - she was going to bring it down on the swordswoman. 'No choice but to escape it...' Even if she had some way to turn the attack around, her still recovering eyes left her without any way to hit at this distance. Tetsuko would dash forward, trying to get a head start on escaping the gears. On her left arm, iron quickly burst out from her forearm, forming a rough round shield that she raised over her head. As the gears fell, she'd try to dash out of the chaos, cutting away at what gears fell down to her and blocking those that were still a threat. It battered her shield arm a bit from the pure force, but the tough lass managed to get through the mess at the end, enduring it as she always did. When she reached the edge of the chaos, she found herself cutting down a gear in her way, lowering her shield, and raising her eyes to Yumi. Her vision was starting to come back to her, but she didn't even need it yet. She felt warm liquid trickling down her cheek, a cut from a stray piece of a gear. That hell Yumi had brought down was rough... But this ironblooded body of hers was tough. '...This is the first time, since learning about my family, that I've fought a challenging opponent...'That thought crossed her mind, and she didn't quite understand it. She only understood what she had to do next. A deep breath, and eyes forward. Tetsuko charged towards Yumi again. This time, she didn't take the direct route. Instead, Tetsuko was darting along the edges of the starting area, swinging her sword in a graceful flourish and cutting through the supports of the upper platforms as she ran! A wondrous and powerful dance of iron, her blade sliced and diced through the opposing steel, and she didn't dare stop. Each cut was a burst of motion, and her intent did not waver. Habiki Kata : Hassō Happa 丸橋之形 : 八相発破 Autumn Form : Eight Phase Burst
Her reckless combination, seeking to leave the upper platforms in her wake unstable, had one destination in mind, as she charged straight towards Yumi's new position, trying to do just the same thing as last time! 'I'll 'change' this situation... More than they could...'

Even with her new perch it was clear Tetsuko was realizing her plan by this point and making every effort to ensure that Yumi couldn't rely on it for long. Her initial action, to just bring the gears crashing down upon her head, was met with an adamant defense. Even if Yumi made the effort to make up for the difference in their levels of durability, keeping her distance, removing the options Tetsuko had for even laying a finger on her, Tetsuko was still a hardy beast, and with no more than her legs beneath her and a sturdy shield she rushed out of the range of her gear slam down with relative ease, Yumi's ears met with the horrific clanging of gears on gears, and gears on shield, shifting uncomfortably as Tetsuko began to charge towards her as if she hadn't even been slowed by the assault.
"See you've got the hang of things here..." She knew her blinding effect must be running out about now but Tetsuko was making steps to make sure it'd hardly be relevant no matter the case. As she charged towards Yumi she made clear efforts to remove all the upper platforms she could possibly have access to, Yumi's stomache seeming to hold a sense of weight now in the pit of her gut. She could just fly, take to the skies, but the constant stamina burn could be the worst case option given the penetration to her suit. It wasn't big enough to be serious, but Tetsuko was an immense contender. If anyone could outdo her in a test of simple endurance(stamina wise at least), it was definitely Tetsuko...
Fine. Guess she had to fight on her terms, at least for the moment. As Tetsuko came to her current platform Yumi gave herself plenty of time to drop down herself rather than on Tetsuko's terms, flowing down to the ground, plummeting for a half second before catching herself with a burst of sparks, a good distance still between her and her opponent. Her hands flowed over the sides of her hips, the lightning rods she carried with her suit unclasping form her toolbelt, and spinning in circles before abruptly halting by her sides.
"Alright. Same playing field... let's see if you can close the distance!"
Throwing her arms out ahead of her, the electro-magnetic hold on her tools send them hurtling forward. Two of them went far wide to opposing sides, embedding themselves even in the metal cog they stood upon ahead of Tetsuko but far to either of her sides. The remaining two rushed directly for her like projectiles. With ease, Tetsuko could dodge them, or even slice through them if she so wished. The latter option was what Yumi was secretly hoping for. Her tools held an immense charge from absorbing her own electricity. To slice through them would unleash a burst of sparks directly in Tetsuko's face. Unrefined, unable to truly blind her, but hopefully enough to hurt and even more hopefully, enough to slow her. Even if not, thats where the other two came in.
Yumi spread out her arms, blasting both rods with an intense burst of electricity, overloading their internal batteries. Like before as they parted to blind Tetsuko, they would part once again, only this time instead of a reflected flash they whould re-direct yumi's energy, trying to assault Tetsuko from either side as she charged forward. An attack that needed some solid timing behind it, or Yumi's bolts would just collide with one another. Just ahead of Tetsuko, or just behind her, creating a mild burst of force in either case, but certainly not what they could do if they hit the girl directly.
Briefly, Yumi considered why she was even doing this... she wanted to prove herself. She did. She wasn't gonna make it as a rescue hero and showing she could use her given quirk to make it to the top of the pile in terms of combatants was a nice second best. In the end though... it wasn't like this was personal. It wouldn't be some great triumph. It wouldn't make her parents any less proud of her or heck any of her classmates any less impressed if past experience was anything to go by...
But still... a part of her felt she had to at least try.

Tetsuko's eyes were recovering, the lingering light in her vision slowly fading after the initial attack. The swordswoman knew she'd have to be prepared for Yumi to try at again, and counter appropriately. Furthermore, she knew not to reveal her recovery until the most opportune moment. If Tetsuko was to win against this opponent who outmatched her in raw power, and whose abilities were more suited to the arena, she'd have to control as much as possible. Grasp the flow of the battle, and bend it to her advantage. That was the maxim that had motivated her assault on the arena itself, aiming to limit Yumi's options, and strike her sword at a much more intangible weakness. Tetsuko had noticed from the start, with the other girl's behavior; she was hesitating, second-guessing. For all her advantages, mental barriers were preventing Yumi from capitalizing in the start of the match. Truth be told, an aggressive opening would have been more troublesome for Tetsuko, and may have prevented Yumi's current predicament. Where she had to, before getting a chance to truly make the most of it, abandon her high ground to avoid a battle of attrition. Whether this was the right call, Tetsuko couldn't say. Time would tell. With Yumi now on equal footing, after dropping down and unsheathing those imposing metal rods of hers, Tetsuko faced her with focus and intent. Pieces of metal may help Yumi to focus her aim amidst all the gears, Tetsuko figured. The risk of conductivity made striking them directly a discouraging prospect, to say the least. "To close the distance... I just need to choose the right path..."
As much of an assurance to herself as it was to Yumi, as the swordswoman darted forward, not wanting to waste anytime in reducing the space between them, even if that meant contending with the lightning wielder's attacks. Two lightning rods embedded themselves ahead of her, spaced apart, as another two darted right towards her!
'Splitting them just gives me more things to worry about if she uses her magnetic abilities again... I need to deflect them, touch them as little as possible!'
The fear was that Yumi might electrify the metal as Tetsuko touched it, but hopefully keeping contact to a minimum would, at the least, mitigate those risks. Of course, the fact Yumi might be able to grab them from behind her wasn't lost on the swordswoman, so she knew to keep an out on those electric tendrils that the other girl had used before... Raising her shield, Tetsuko would deflect each of the lightning rods flung at her, pivoting her body to try and push them away as the collided with her defense. Generally speaking, cutting projectiles was unwise, really - it only left you with two projectiles still coming in the same direction. Of course, it was natural that the two planted rods were something Yumi was setting up. It was obvious their positioning either side of Tetsuko was no accident, and with little choice but to keep moving forward if she wanted to close the distance, the Shindou girl had to make a reckless decision. Barreling toward the rods, she formed her shield into another sword in her hand, and as she passed through this deadly trap, Tetsuko would slash both her blades downwards, slicing into the ground as she ran forward, dragging them along with the horrid sound of scraping metal. The goal was simple; in this maze of metal, if she could disperse it over a wider area, she hoped to potentially reduce the damage to herself!
Lightning blasted out from Yumi's attack, as the Shindou girl rushed on with intent to enter her optimal range. The electricity would strike the woman's swords, surging through both Tetsuko and the area around her. Energy dispersed over a greater area reduced the concentration, but it was still a painful blow to take, her pain visible as she grit her teeth. Her body burned, cried out, and her eyes focused forward evermore. This lightning, it hurt just as much as it always had, if not more, and yet...
'I'll change it... So I'll evolve, and take this lightning... That I've always feared!' Swinging her arms upward in a violent motion, Tetsuko would fling both her blades towards Yumi, still charged with the other girl's electricity, in an effort to at least distract her a bit until the Shindou girl truly closed the distance... Yes, she abandoned her swords, throwing them to her opponent, and yet... Tetsuko's hands felt no less empty without them. An odd calm was starting to wash over her. Yumi was strong, stronger than her. Knowing that did not bring her pain, having to overcome that did not bring her uncertainty. With the knowledge that this strong foe was facing her, that she was striving to overcome herself at all costs, Tetsuko was starting to remember why she loved her swordsmanship in the first place. And that didn't require a sword in her hand.
If she got close enough, Tetsuko would simply rush right at Yumi at first, her hands empty, as she did what she was best at; wait for her opponent's response.

Yumi watched as Tetsuko displayed what had always been her greatest talent, at least in the eyes of Yumi who’d only ever observed her at a distance. Her quick mind. From the outside afterall Tetsuko’s quirk, while impressive in it’s own right, wasn’t like the ability to control storms or shoot lightning, breathe fire or even super strength. From what she’d gathered Tetsuko was effectively just made more durable physically and given the ability to form weapons. That was it. In the grand scheme of things she was arguably at a huge disadvantage against a lot of quirks… but here she was, gritting her teeth and pushing through. Yumi’d caught that a lot of her classmates could be frustrated with Tetsuko, how serious she was, how she ranked high the past two years but… seeing her first hand? Yumi was just damn impressed.
She was so impressed that she forgot to move honestly.
Just locked there, watching as her initial assault was deflected off the shield. Yumi raised a hand to her goggles, using the function for the rods to release their build up charge but they were so far off course from the deflection they effectively just shot bursts of electricity in random directions behind Tetsuko missing her by a mile. Okay. She had a trap set up though and Tetsuko seemed to be running right into it! A full dose of electricity was sure to-
Aaaaand she was still coming. Yumi should have maybe been worried or scared or on the defensive all of a sudden but again… she was just damn impressed, a scoff of disbelief played out in a positive note as she watched Tetsuko rush through her trap, gritting her teeth to the point it barely looked like it affected her. Yumi was literally put on the back foot, her instincts to push off the ground with her electricity freezing up and finally it was her turn to take a second blow. The blades spinning towards her were coated in her own charge already, so the mental gymnastics she’d have to pull to correctly grab them with her electro-magnesis was sadly behind her. Tendrels of electricity shot out to try and slow them down but too late, only managing to reduce the force a marginal amount, the fibres of her suit breaking where they each impacted on her shoulders. Yumi doing a full backflip from the force, landing on her face.
Great… as if the cut earlier wasn’t bad enough.. she could feel her energy starting to leak out from those two fresh impacts, breathing a little heavily through her teeth.
“Ya know… gotta hand it to ya… didn’t expect you to run through that…!”
Yumi pushed herself up just a little, legs spread, hands on the ground, position still down low. Tetsuko was still rushing for her. Unarmed perhaps but it didn’t take more than a second for that to change. Yumi could have burned her energy and flew. She could have tried for a kamikaze blast but… she was enjoying this. Seeing what Tetsuko could do with the more unique situations. She coulda flown around this entire fight taking pot shots and barraging her with sheer fire power but in the end, Yumi didn’t care so much about winning, and this was way more fun!
“Lets see how you do with this!”
Slamming her electrical charge onto the large central gear they’d each been using as their primary platform, Yumi magnetised herself to the surface as she began to overclock the… clock. The central gear began to cycle faster and faster as Tetsuko charged, hoping to whirl her off her feat and make it nearly impossible for her to get back up due to the centrifugal forces at play. It was a silly tactic, a flashy tactic but… Yumi was still curious to see how Tetsuko would handle it!~

It wasn't enough to just be strong; it wasn't enough to just practice. Tetsuko had learned this a long time ago, and it was something she was constantly reinforcing to herself as she fought, both here and elsewhere. Striving forward to close the distance between herself and Yumi, the consequences of victory or defeat were far from the Shindou girl's mind; all she could think was to pit her best against Yumi's. All she wanted was to push herself, to evolve and adapt, to put into practice the maxims she'd learned, and test them against this powerful foe! Her body was pushing forward, though she had dispersed some of the electricity to her surrounds, that which still terrorized her body filled it with pain. Tetsuko wasn't going to have much chance at this rate, if she couldn't close the gap and make it to Yumi. Unless the swordswoman could enter her optimal range, she wouldn't be able to do much from this distance... Or so she'd initially thought. But if Yumi was going to exploit this weakness... Tetsuko realized quickly, that the best thing to do was simply evolve and strike from beyond it. Those two blades flung towards Yumi, the Shindou girl hoping to at least distract the other girl and help her get some more distance. They did their job just fine, striking Yumi well enough to put her further on the back foot. Not nearly enough for something resembling a decisive blow, but enough to give Tetsuko more time, more chance to initiate her table-turning strategy. The lightning-wielder commented and Tetsuko's tenacity, and through a pained grin, Tetsuko replied readily. "What can I say... I've gotta be a bit more reckless against someone as strong as you." Rushing for Yumi with renewed vigor, Tetsuko was prepared for what other tricks the other girl had. Yumi's Quirk wasn't just flinging lightning bolts around, after all. For what some might dismiss as a simple ability, Yumi was incredibly versatile with it, something Tetsuko greatly respected. And respecting a strong opponent was the only proper way to prepare for their movements! It was due to that respect that, when Yumi began to grasp the entire central gear with her powers, Tetsuko was more impressed than shocked. If Tetsuko was U.A.'s pinnacle of physical martial skill, Yumi was its ace in terms of trained and honed Quirk potential. As the clock was... overclocked... Tetsuko staggered, falling to a knee as the speed through off her forward momentum. As all the other gears moved vigorously, a cacophony of metal on metal arose. Quite the flashy move. The forces of physics began to pull on Tetsuko, who quickly resorted to one of her oft-used methods of staying grounded. Iron spurs burst from her palms, that she plunged into the gear like hooks to keep her from flying freely! Yet, the forces still tugged on her, and it was going to be difficult to move like this... ... Then again, why did she have to? '... I see, I can't even let my art hold me back. After all... I'm not just a swordswoman.'Clinging on to he platform for dear life, Tetsuko would slowly get to her feet, stamping her feet into the ground with similar iron spurs, keeping her in place but without much room for movement. She could, perhaps, drag her feet along the ground while stuck in it, but that wasn't exactly the most efficient method. Instead, she held her ground. After all, even if close-range was her optimal distance... So long as Tetsuko was close enough to hit her target, she could use her greatest asset. Standing up with an unsteady and fixed position, Tetsuko would quickly raise her arms, iron emerging from her hands. In one, simple recurve bow formed. In the other, an blunt-headed arrow, pointed right at Yumi's position! 'Heki-ryu Archery: Release!'[/i][/color] Tetsuko loosed an arrow from her stationary point, before forming another arrow and firing it at that selfsame point. She took a step forward, a long step staggered by the rotation of the gears, and unleashed another, aiming to keep up a steady barrage as she approached Yumi, slowly but surely.

Strong... was she the strong one or was it just her quirk. That was always a question Yumi had to deal with but right now, whether it was her own hard work or her quirk alone that had gotten her here she didn't really care to debate. What mattered was this had happened, right here and now staring down Tetsuko as she rushed in like that, pushing her to her limit. Yumi didn't much care if she hit her own. To be drenched in sweat, aching in all her joints... but she really wanted to see that in Tetsuko now. Win or lose she wanted to push this girl to new heights... it was a weird sensation, almost cheering on your opponent, but Yumi was loving every second of it now that she'd fell into that mindset. Still, the tactic she'd chosen to do so was a tiring one. In the end Yumi wasn't just forced to move one cog in this grand machine but the dozens that relied on it too. She was almost pissed off at the work and effort put into this arena as she was feeling the strain of kicking the whole mechanism into overdrive but a smile remained on her features all the same. "Strong opponent or not... you got another move to make Tetsuko... what ya gonna surprise me with next!?~" She felt her hair whip out to her right as the two of them continued to spin on the cog, her own hands slipping, the magnetic forces holding her in place losing out against the centrifugal forces she was exerting. If she must she can let go and catch herself in flight but she wanted to hold out, eager to see what Tetsuko would pull out next. Spurs in her boots, good, get a sound footing. Yumi tried to do the same, rising slowly to a stand, spreading her legs, both to strengthen her stance and spread out the magnetic points holding her in place. Even if the actual size of the points remained the same, spreading them apart would make it harder for the forces at play to wrench her from where she stood. "Cleats huh... I'd try and be smug about that being kinda stupid but it's really damn clever... no one's ever gonna call ya a meat head of all things tetsuko... Dense maybe but that's for a whole other reason..."
The forces from the gear where churning her stomache and she could feel her footholds slipping. She had less and less control over her quirk thanks to the gashes in her costume and the magnetic forces in her feet couldn't out-match the force of the gear's speed. It was when the arrow was pulled that Yumi realized she had to abandon her stance entirely. She shifted out of the past of the first. Aiming where Yumi WAS at their speeds meant the arrow was off course as it slipped past her, but Tetsuko was bound to adjust her aim in accordance with how much the first missed as she began shifting closer again. Yumi could fly and cancel out the momentum forced on her by the gear quick as a spark but then Tetsuko would be the hard to hit target influenced by the gear's speed.
Next shot wasn't going to miss though. Move quick lightning.
Firing out a blast of her own she narrowly shifted to the side of the second arrow, feeling it slice against her cheek. The weapon was blunt but at these speeds a scrape like this was bound to happen on such a fine miss. Yumi's shot soared past Tetsuko's shoulder as it was intended, and Yumi's body was dragged along the line of energy she created, flipping mid-burst and landing on the center of the main gear, slamming her hands down into the core of the mechanism and slamming everything to a sudden stop. Tetsuko's cleats may hold out, but that was again part of the plan. Now she was the easy target, and Yumi was at her back.
"Sorry Tetsuko but this is gonna be the win you earn! Doubt you've got an issue with that!"
She couldn't delay, the sharp halt in momentum had probably churned both their stomaches and Yumi was wincing just resisting the urge to hurl herself. She had one last big shot in her... as far as she was concerned it was Tetsuko's win if she could pull past this. The entire room had been consistantly charged over and over by Yumi's attacks, so as she rose to a stand, a thick stream of energy pulsing between her raised arms, the entire room was brought to life. Sparks of electricity shimmering off gears, electricity feeling like it suddenly had somewhere to go as Yumi tried to negatively charge herself to all the shots she'd gave before. It hurt like hell but she was effectively draining back all her excess energy, forcing her muscles to overclock. They were generating the maximum amount they could, and then got an extra helping layered on top of that.
Yumi effectively turned herself into a lightning rod for all the lingering electricity in the environment. It stung. It burned... but she knew she'd pull through it. She'd grit her teeth through worse at UA. Who hadn't?
"YA KNOW IM NOT USUALLY ONE FOR NAMING MY MOVES BUT I FEEL THIS ONE DESERVES IT!~" She called out over the crackle of energy all around her, a wild grin on her features. Her ponytail burst undone and her hair flowed freely behind her, untamed and loose. Her raised arms snapped forward, fingertips aimed forward, palms flat facing Tetsuko, every muscle in Yumi's body that produced her electricity pushing it towards her arms.
"Sōjō kaminari!!- Layered Lightning!"
Yumi didn't just unleash everything her muscles had. This wasn't her usual kamikaze attack. She burned everything she had and everything she'd spent before, and she made sure it was aimed. A single direct bolt, enough to fry even tetsuko to kingdom come and still leave a sorched red mark in any gear behind her. It was fast. Powerful. Devestating... but even as she felt her quirk leaving her Yumi was still eager to see Tetsuko pull it out of the bag.

How long had it been? Since Tetsuko felt herself pushed to the brink like this, against an opponent so powerful and skilled? Even her climactic clash against Arthur Hale seemed to pale in comparison. For all his skill, he and Tetsuko had fought on their own terms, clashing swords above all else. There was no such terms of engagement here. It was strength against strength. To be reminded of how it felt to fight someone whose strength was overbearing and overwhelming... Set Tetsuko's mind onto a single straightforward track. She wanted to fight. Not for someone else's sake. Not for her family's honor, not for her own desire to win...
It was out of the thrill of pure battle, and incredible respect for her opponent, that Tetsuko wanted to give her all.
Whether Yumi's Quirk had an advantage, or was more powerful, neither mattered to Tetsuko. She'd respect that strength all the same, and fight with everything she had. Restricting herself to swordsmaship felt like an insult. Who even decided she should rely on her blade? To decide such a thing was something only she could do for herself. Everything else be damned, she'd give her all, and so Tetsuko unleashed her archery. But not before grounding herself with those iron spurs from her feet. Or, as Yumi unflatteringly referred to them, her cleats.
"It's hardly cleverness... Just experience!"
Tetsuko proclaimed as she began her volley of arrows. The first missed, the forces at play making it a miracle it even came close. But with the chance to re-align, Tetsuko loosed her second arrow, narrowly missing her target, and prompting Yumi to begin her counterattack.
The other girl fired off her own shot, Tetsuko ducking her body out of instinct. However, she was surprised to find it missing her by a fair margin... Only for her attention to snap right towards Yumi as the other girl used this 'trail' to zip right past her! It was a clever move, concealing her need to create a path through a feint, one that caught Tetsuko off guard. The swordswoman quickly raised a foot to try and pivot around, only for the gear to suddenly slam to a halt. Everything inside Tetsuko greatly disliked this sudden change in momentum, a wave of disorientation striking her as she staggered to steady herself.
Yumi was really giving it her all, it seemed... Tetsuko needed to keep doing that herself!
"I'll ask for nothing more than your best..."
Tetsuko would reply with a slight grin, soured somewhat by her churning gut. If they'd both thrown up there, that would've made for a rather unsatisfactory conclusion... Fortunately, Yumi did no such thing, and in the next moment, Tetsuko watched in awe as the girl harnessed all the electricity that was charging their surrounds, drawing it back to her in what could only be the preparation for an incredible attack... Not content to just stand in awe, Tetsuko began her own preparations, the iron that she'd used flowing back into her body, knowing she'd need every last drop to surpass this attack.
The Shindou girl would assume a low, prepared stance, poised and ready for the storm that was about to be unleashed. "Hah... This much lightning, I can't be even afraid... I really will need Takemikazuchi's blessing for this..." She mused. Takemikazuchi, the patron deity of Kashima, the mythological progenitor of her sword style, and a kami of blades and thunder... Tetsuko would be calling upon his strength as she prepared to face a storm unlike any other.
[
Tetsuko breathed in, breathed out. She raised the palm of her hand in a simple guard. The other was at her hip, balled into a fist and ready to strike. Her blade and shield, yet to be drawn. She breathed and thought deeply. What path would she take? What path should she take? Such questions plagued her as much now as they always had. Only this time... She knew the answer.
"My path is decided..."
As Yumi's lightning charge reached its zenith, Tetsuko took her path. She felt iron flow through her body, felt it come to her skin, lying just beneath bursting... All this iron, all her life.... Let it take whatever path she wished!
With its name declared, a bolt of lightning came, one that might rend the heavens itself, as though Tetsuko was fighting that very patron deity, Takemikazuchi. Not wanting to give this thunder God a bad showing, Tetsuko unleashed her answer; that if Yumi was going to give her all, she would do the very same! That was the right 'path' to take!
In a flash, as she swung her hands out wildly, a violent burst came from her body, as iron would shoot up from all over Tetsuko's back and arms in the form of blades, exiting her body as she pulled it out rapidly and forcefully with her control. Tearing through much of her uniform, bloodying it when she had been careless, this storm of iron erupted. Tetsuko was expelling as much of the stuff in her body as she could live without and a bit more, sending a storm of iron blades around her... A storm through which she'd dance!
Having given Yumi's blast the mother of all misdirection to contend with, Tetsuko could only hope it would be sufficient to scatter her blast. Immediately, Tetsuko felt the blowback, her body reeling from the sudden lack of iron, her clothing tattered, and old scars on her back and arms bleeding. But she pressed forward, for the fight was not yet done. Dashing gracefully through the storm of blades and lightning she'd created, this gift to Takemikazuchi, Tetsuko dashed for Yumi, to land the final blow.
With no iron left for even a full katana, Tetsuko would thrust out her hand to Yumi, whipping it out in a wicked knife-hand strike. Her final attack, her final effort... That she stopped short, right next to Yumi's neck. If the girl glanced at the hand, she might see it; the last of Tetsuko's iron, along the side of her hand to augment her strike. A small blade, her final blade, taking what form it needed.
"Winter Form: Boundless Blade."
Yumi was spent, and Tetsuko had left her final attack there so as to not deal unnecessary harm, but seal the match's end... She could only hope Yumi would find the term agreeable before the iron anemia kicked in.

(im weirdly legit sorry I was thinking of the wrong thing when I said cleats I googled it later to correct myself when you pointed out how ‘unflattering’ it was XD)
And that was it. The match was decided the moment Yumi saw that burst of iron as far as she was concerned. The ends of her own costume looked frayed and burned, overloading the circuitry woven into the outfit that was designed to regulate her quirk, some melted copper actually having burst out of the clothing leaving small patches of golden brown that rested on the outside of her clothing, maybe even burning her arms a little but she was too numb to even notice… she was out. Even if she had the time to get a fresh load of charge running through her body, her costume was hardly in a fit state to hold it all in and channel it.
Once that attack got redirected, scattered in a multitude of directions as strands of electrical energy burst off trying to hit the iron around the main stream, she knew she was all out. Tetsuko’s silver hair, a gaze as harsh as her steal, rushed up the length of her once strict, focused attack and right up into Yumi’s own face. She staggered onto the backfoot, quickly reaising her hands and feeling the air hit her chest. Tetsuko was tired but she still travelled with a fierce momentum that carried the air behind it into Yumi’s face, almost feeling that cold, blunted steel against her throat even with the distance between them…
Yumi was sweating heavily, she had been for some time but her electrical coating tended to make it all sizzle and evaporate before it could ever be seen. She swallowed hard as she accepted the situation she was in, her legs a little weak, but she wasn’t about to falter and fall before the two of them left this arena. This whole thing was a display afterall to show how tough heroes were as a whole, not just each of them individually. Without a word, breathing too heavily to get any out, she lowered one of her hands under the blade to her neck, offering it to shake as a silent sign of defeat, a faint upturn to her lips present at the very edge of her parted, panting lips.
