Marceline found the act of checking on her more genuine business investments... oddly relaxing. It was a lot of just busy work at the end of the day but something about it was a calming experience. Running the numbers on the stocks, slipping in the odd bit of money laundering, using her people skills to deal with her workers and just... it soothed her, in an odd way. The criminal underlyings she was slipping in, the truly legal work she was managing. At the end of the day she was doing a lot less work than most of the people under her employ, so the stress never so much as tickled her. Just this nice little sensation of reminding herself where the money came from...~
She shook her head as she finished taking stock and pinned the latest stock count to the noticeboard inside the back room, leaving her pen and clipboard on the nearest flat surface as she walked back out to the front of the store. Her workers were starting to pack up for the day, disposing of the food they couldn't legally refigerate for the next day and cleaning out the big coffee machine. Had to make sure that thing was in working condition afterall. Couldn't treat it like the mcdonalds mcflurry machine afterall. "How was the count out here then? Everything in order?~"
She looked to the manager she'd hired for this specific store, the woman bowing her head briefly to her boss. Marcie wasn't the biggest fan of japanese respect and politeness buuuuut... she supposed she wasn't entirely against the sense of power it gave her too watching her workers bow to her briefly before addressing her. "There's a bit of an undercount on our registers but it's within the normal margin of error. Just a few misplaced pennies at most. B-but I'll be sure it dosn't become a hab-"
Marcie raised a finger and shook her head. "Don't worry about it. Of course it's a business and we're here to make a profit, but so long as no one's stealing from the till we don't have anything to worry about at the end of the day now do we?~" She rested a hand on her workers shoulder and smiled sweetly. "Don't fret, you're all doing a wonderful job.~"
The young woman before her bowed her head again, though moreso in thanks this time. "There is erm... one more issue. We've been making preperations to close up for some time and..." Her eyes shifted across the counter, looking to a pink haired girl in a booth to the side. Marcie's brow rose as she recognized the girl from when she'd arrived her a few hours ago herself. Sitting there with a slice of cake that she was sure were the meager remains of the same cake she'd had hours ago too. Perhaps another slice. Hard to tell afterall.
"Oh poor thing looks so out of place..."
"She's been here some time. Keeps asking for refills on her water. I... I know I should ask her to leave but she has seemed somewhat... displaced? I don't wish to be rude to her but-."
Marceline turned her eyes back to her worker and smiled. "Think nothing of it. Here. Leave me the key. Once you're all cleaned up for the day you can go home. I'll do the final checks myself tonight. Okay?~"
There was a brief back and forth where they tried to insist they couldn't let her do that, but at the end of the day she was their boss and she could put her foot down to offer them a bit of kindness if needed. The workers went about storing up any of the leftover food, and Marceline made her way over to that little booth to the side, dipping into the girl's view and waving a cautious hand for good measure, dressed in what to her was a cozy little sweater, a black fishnet top underneath helping the cleavage window on it seem... less flirtatious? More? Hard to say~ And some nice leggings to keep her legs warm in the evening breeze.
"Excuse moi? I hope you don't mind miss but we'll be closing soon. But if you need a bit more time to finish your cake we'd be happy to accomodate.~" She smiled warmly, planting the idea she had to leave soon but being respectful enough not to rush her.

Luzia yawned again, groaning as she rubbed her eyes, slowly moving her head down to rest it on the table. How long had she been here? How long had she been awake? She was losing so much sleep over this, it was... it was depressing, honestly. It was annoying, it was frustrating, it was stressful...! But, she didn't get high, at least no more than usual. Not this time; she took the edge of it off, but she was supposed to be planning getting back with Niso... but then, she sucked at planning.
She had no idea how long she been here; even with her staring at her phone for most of the time, she lost track. It was stretching out to agonizing lengths; a few seconds felt like 5 minutes, and 5 minutes felt like an hour. Besides, she wasn't looking at the time, she was looking at her phone, at the one word, the one name in the entire chat that she cared about, at least, now that Eternity was gone: Pinocchio.
She had spent all this time, staring at that name, at the tag she had prepared to start talking to him, but she had yet to type in a single other letter. 'He's gonna be so mad with me,' she thought, over and over and over again, in a constant loop of preparing to type, then losing her guts and setting her phone back down. She abandoned him, without even a note. She was angry at the time, yeah... he did something utterly stupid, horrific, and bloody as hell... in fact, it wasn't even stupid, it was suicidal?! Why the hell was she feeling bad, it was HIS fault?!
At this point, she was gripping her phone, squeezing it, but the phone alerting her to a low battery made her sig, her anger fading a little as she plugged her phone it, picking her fork up and poking at her cake. She didn't know how to feel, not anymore....
"Excuse moi?"
Luzia blinked up, instinctively flipping her phone, hiding the villain chat that was on the screen, blinking up at... wow, a really pretty girl... even prettier than the other girls. She dressed... well, she dressed different, she wasn't a worker here, that's for sure. She was dressed in a beautiful sweater, and a fishnet thing under it... she really was pretty... but she said words that she didn't like, and Luzia sighed, looking to her food again.
"Sorry... I'll be gone soon, I just need to charge my phone a little more, okay...?"
Geez, this was familiar.. It only recently started having a phone, but it still reminded her of when she was on the streets, sticking around in restaurants for as long as she could before she was finally forced out. She wasn't gonna make a scene, though... she'd move on... she just needed to charge her phone some more....

Marcie noticed the quick motion of Luzia’s hand to turn about her phone, but had the more subtle assumption that she was just hiding a private conversation or… honestly from the looks of the girl she might have been reading through an Ecchi manga or something. Assuming the pink was a dye rather than a natural quirker color. She seemed like she could pass for that spunky manga girl type she saw in passing now and then. Beyond that she more proudly noticed the way the other girl’s eyes looked up and down her, a subtle smirk forming briefly on her lips, but trying her best not to let it linger as she faded to a more tender smile.
“Oh no dear don’t worry at all. I’m sure you need that to call a ride or something. Take your time, honestly.” She looked to the front door as the sound of the bell rang as it opened up, her employees waving her goodbye, Marcie twiddling her fingers in a polite wave in turn as she watched them leave before turning her eyes back to Luzia, sliding into the opposite side of her booth.
“Since we are closing though I hope you don’t mind me Keeping you company till you’re all charged up.~” She offered another sweet smile, comfortably sliding one of her legs over the other as she leaned back in her own seat, pulling up the ipad she’d been holding behind her back, idly getting some ‘work’ done by getting some money laundering in progress. A few excess orders here and there was all it really took afterall. “Tell me though… what has a pretty young girl like you out so late? Looking so wistful… I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say some dreadful young man just broke your heart…” She didn’t mean to be intrusive but… Marcie was a lover of sweet, juicy gossip. The workings of the common person always being a delight to experience.

Luzia flicked her eyes over to the employees as they left, flicking between them and this green-haired lady, and she knew what she was gonna say before she probably did. She felt this nervousness before, and in just a few moments, she was proven right with the lady's words, even if they didn't say the exact words; she was sticking around to make sure she didn't steal anything. Luzia almost wanted to tell her that she wasn't gonna steal anything - she wasn't in the mood - but she didn't bother. She wouldn't believe her, and if she was honest with herself, she probably wouldn't believe her either.
Still, though... she could think of worse company... she seemed nice enough... and... she was really pretty... like, Luzia couldn't help but stare at her. She was wearing a really, really pretty sweater, and she was wearing a sexy fishnet thing under it. Her eyes were a really pretty yellow... and her hair... her hair was gorgeous... it was so smooth it looked more like silk than hair! It was actually shiny! That wasn't even touching on her figure... really nice and smooth, really sexy... Luzia didn't even notice that she had started to twiddle her hair around her fingers as she stared. Even her voice... she had some sort of accent that was just... just so pretty...~.
But she was pulled out of her thoughts by her talking about, and her question made her blush... then the blush disappeared as her feelings turned to guilt, looking down at her phone and playing with her hair nervously. The guilt stung like a knife pressing into her heart, remembering how she just... abandoned the one person in the world that deeply and truly cared about her. "Actually... it's more like... I broke his heart... it's complicated..."
She paused for a moment, then flicked her eyes up to the green-haired lady, adding, "Thank you for calling me pretty...~."

Noticing how readily Luzia seemed to blush and the wideness of her eyes as the young girl… ‘took her in’, Marceline couldn’t help but smirk with a small sense of pride, but trying not to toy with the girl too much too soon while they were still building an initial sense of report. The way she spoke about her situation had Marceline intrigued alone afterall, and she’d like to see if she could follow that ‘thread’ before delving into perhaps teasing her idly until she had to leave. So she broke up with him yet-…
“If you don’t mind me saying, you still seem like the heartbroken one if I might say…” She leaned over the table between them, offering both her hands upturned on the table with the idea she’d like to take one of Luzia’s in hers, a warm smile offered across as she did so and not minding if Luzia wasn’t ready to offer a hand. If she did, Marcie would take it in both of hers, idly massaging the back of her palm with her thumbs. “Why not tell me about it? I mean I’m just some silly café owner. If it’s something sensitive or something you think is private… just tell me. I mean, we don’t ever have to bump into eachother again. Why not treat me as your imaginary little friend who just goes-“ She raised a hand and spread her fingers with a “Poof! The moment you walk out the door tonight.”
She lowered her hands back to the table, still holding Luzia’s if the girl had offered it across, shooting her a sweet smile. “Of course, you don’t have to say anything either. We can just sit here and… I can continue stating the obvious about your appearance, if you like.~ Should help lift your mood I imagine.~”

Luzia grimaced, just a little bit, when Marcie said she was the heartbroken one, which... honestly, it wasn't entirely wrong. She might have made the whole thing happen, but... it was her fault, it was her fault, it was her fault for fucking up the best relationship ever; she couldn't blame Niso, not one bit. How could she?
She blinked at the offer of a hand, but reached over, taking it and squeezing just a little bit, blinking in surprise, even gasping slightly as she couldn't help but stare at her hand. It was so soft, like silk, Luizia was even jealous! She could bet that this lady never used her hands in her life, and honestly, that was just a little bit annoying... how could someone with such soft hands understand? If they had soft hands, then that definitely meant they had a good life; how could someone like that understand her problems?
"Why not treat me as your imaginary little friend who just goes... Poof! The moment you walk out the door tonight.”
Luzia had narrowed her eyes a little, bit she couldn't help but smirk at that one, and moved some of her hair behind her ear as the lady complimented her again, blushing a little more, cracking a more genuine smile. "Geez... if only you caught me at a better time...~." She muttered to herself, under her breath, but sighed, looking down at the table, holding the hand that was offered to her and running her thumb across her... honestly perfect skin. A brief thought in back of her head wondering if she modeled pushed away, Luzia spoke quietly, not quite sure how to say it since she had to keep some things secret....
"It's just... my boyfriend... he can heal really good... which is fine and all... but... he actually likes getting hurt... he always laughs it off, doesn't matter if it's a black eye or broken leg, it's just funny to him somehow. He worries me... but... awhile ago, he went REALLY far... like... hospital far, if he couldn't heal... and... I don't really know what I thought. I just... blanked. Everything went white for awhile... I just... I just couldn't stand the thought of him dying. If he couldn't heal, he would have killed himself, and yet, there he was, making jokes and laughing it off again... I got... really angry with him, and the next thing I knew, I was halfway on the other side of the city so I wouldn't kill him myself...."
She kept staring at her hand for a moment, then went wide-eyed, realizing what she said, and held her hands up defensively. "I-I mean, figuratively, of course, it's not like I'd ACTUALLY kill him!" She laughed nervously, then sighed deeply, looking down, remembering that healing guy that the news talked about a few weeks back... she still wasn't sure if she actually DID kill Niso in a weird, symbolic way.... She couldn't remember much from that night, but she did remember the guy healing....

Marcie offered only a warm smile and the attention of her eyes and ears to what the darling girl before her was trying to get off of her chest. For the moment Marcie didn't know who she actually was, but she could tell that she was trying to choose her words at least somewhat carefully. Whatever the truth was of this situation she may never truly know but... the girl was young, she seemed sweet in her own way, Marcie wanted to offer a sense of trust and would take from her words what she could.
"A quirk...?" She asked, when the girl mentioned that they could heal. Straight answer or no she'd continue to listen, idly squeezing Luzia's hand when she had trouble getting the words out, and brushing her thumbs over the back of her palm, throwing in quiet- "Take your time"'s when appropriate and maintaining eye contact as best as she could. Seemed like it had mostly just been a situation of... hating the habits of someone you care for. She truly seemed to admire whoever this was but couldn't deal with their self destructive nature.
"I think that's entirely natural dear. Your... anger, your hurt." She began, looking down to the girl's hand and squeezing her hand softly once again. "You had something, someone precious to you, and through whatever reasons they continued to come to harm. Even if it was there choice, even if you knew it would be fine, it's natural to be angry. Where it say... a treasured toy from your childhood lets say. The doll falls from a shelf and tears it's dress. You care for it, it's natural to be upset, and even if the damage can be repaired... the pain of seeing that damage dosn't go away..."
She shook her head, sighing.
"Sorry, not a great analogy...~" She shrugged somewhat casually, rubbing at the side of her neck. "But... I want you to know that I do understand. Hyperbole about wanting to kill him yourself and all. It truly hurts... it aches like a knife in the heart watching the self destruction of someone you love. I don't go against what I said. You truly do look like the one heartbroken, and you have every right to be."
There was a brief pause as Marceline took an easing breath, before leaning over, one hand squeezing Luzia's still, as the other reached out and squeezed over the top of her forearm.
"But... to run away... to hurt him in turn... I think we can easily say that isn't the answer no?" She shifted back into her seat again, her hand trailing slowly down Luzia's arm and joining the other hand in squeezing Luzia's again, looking down to their hands again. "When you say you got angry at him, did you even tell him why you left? Where any words shared?" She'd ask with some curiosity, meeting Luzia's gaze again, actually finding some interest in this budding love story of the pinkette and her healing love.

"Something like that..." Luzia flinched slightly when she accidentlly let out her boyfriend's quirk, but it was okay, she told herself. She didn't say his name, and she didn't say anything about what his quirk really was. It almost felt like she screwed up, but she told herself that it was okay before continuing her story. Her anger wanted to flare up throughout, a part of her wanted to still be mad at him, but as the words came out, all she could be was sad, angry at herself for not leaving a note or anything.
When she finished, she finally looked back up at the green-haired lady again, avoiding eye contact the entire time as she just struggled to get everything out. She took a slow, deep breath, calming herself down a little, and listened intently as she responded, and as she did, Luzia felt... relief. Getting it out finally, to actually talk about it, felt so good, it was like a weight off her chest. She even understood!
"No, no," she said, perking up a little and leaning forward. "It's like that, yeah! I love him a lot, and he keeps getting himself hurt for fun! You understand how frustrating that is! I mean... he's so sweet and pure and good and wonderful and here he is, practically trying to KILL himself! It makes me angry!" She paused for a moment, then sighed, running her free hand through her hair. "Sorry..."
"But... to run away... to hurt him in turn... I think we can easily say that isn't the answer no?"
Luzia's frown grew and she slowly moved down, laying her arms on the table, her head on her arms, staring blankly at the green-haired woman, shaking her head. "Nooo... I didn't... I got too mad, I just... I kind of... everything just went white... he just, like, came home to an empty room... I didn't even send him any texts or anything because I broke my phone... didn't get a new one until a little while ago...."

"Well..." She had to think carefully about this, she didn't have the full picture and as sweet as this girl looked there were...hints, developing, that said she wasn't all she seemed. Marcie rested on her elbows agains the table between them, trying to tackle everything one step at a time, running her own hands against one another. "Does he really just do it for fun? Or... I mean you give the impression he's basically acting like he's unkillable, so he just seems to... I don't know. I don't know him. But from the sounds of things it looks like he just tries to have fun regardless of the harm. Not that harm itself is what brings him fun. Perhaps I'm wrong, you know him more than me, I only know him through your words afterall."
She took a slow breath, and nodded along as Luzia continued all the same. "Don't worry about raising your voice though dear. Your angry, your upset, at him, at yourself... the place is closed and so are many stores around us. Just let out what you need to. I mean I'm the manager and I havn't thrown you out yet, so clearly I'm not gonna be the kind to judge if I havn't so far, right?~"
As Luzia described the process, mentally, that lead to her leaving, Marcie considered it for a moment. She'd never felt so extremely so she couldn't relate and she struggled to empathize even. Her hands got a bit more vigorous as they rung together, pressing a thumb into her opposing pam a little hard. In the end... she could only be honest without just clearly lying to the poor girl. "I don't know what to say... if what he did made you feel so extremely that I can't say it might not be justified but... I think you at least owe it to both of you to get some closure on the matter. For better or worse... no?"

Luzia blinked once, then twice, then a third time, her eyes slightly widened as she processed the greenhead's words, making sure to digest them slowly and carefully. She was making a whole lot of sense... like, way more than she thought... thinking about it like that, thinking about it like he was having fun despite the pain, not because of it... it made a lot of things make sense. Was she really that stupid?! Was he really, all this time, not trying to get hurt, just getting hurt while having fun, and using his quirk to heal?!
She felt her anger grow, a malicious, furious expression growing, and she didn't realize that she was squeezing the greenhead's hand, tighter and tighter, oblivious to the pain she was inflicting as she grit her teeth. She couldn't stop thinking, 'Is it really that fucking simple? Am I a fucking moron?!' Words like that flowered through her head over and over and over, her anger feeding into itself as she berated herself over and over again. She got so distracted with herself that she barely heard her company continue, but she caught herself. She gasped, suddenly relaxing her grip. "Oh, shit, sorry, sorry..." She pet the pretty girl's hands, trying to soothe her pain with petting, wincing regretfully the entire time.
"Sorry... sorry... I just... got angry at myself for a moment... you're right... I should talk to him, I just... don't like to talk about that sort of thing. Shit like that sucks, but... I should get closure. I want closure. I just..." She paused for a sigh, looking back up at her, trying to take comfort in those piercing golden eyes that shined almost like the real metal. It was hard to imagine eyes as pretty as her's, but here she was, looking at her. "I just gotta... get ready, you know?"

Marcie could feel the grasp tightening around her own hand, wincing a little, maybe a mild hiss but... she tired not to react too harshly. If she was reading this girl right she was potentially somewhat dangerous and until she was given a sign she was turning to the offensive, she didn't want to piss her off and send her there even quicker. She tried to keep her expression calm but there was certainly some relief when she relaxed her grip, and Marcie pulled her hands back a little from the attempts to soothe her with that petting touch. "It's quite alright... we all get tense at times no?"
Rising from her seat a little as Luzia emphasized she just needed some time to get read, Marceline rounded the table, leaning over Luzia from her side and gently cupping one side of her head, as Luzia's other side was pulled into her chest with a delicate hug, hoping she wasn't encroaching too hard on the pinkette's personal space. "Take all the time you need... I have a room upstairs so I can just stay the night when I have to lock up." She pulled back and away resting a hand on her shoulder. "Can I get you some cake, maybe a drink before you have to go?"

Guilt stabbed at her as the greenhaired girl pulled away from her, despite her attempts to try to soothe and apologize. She was almost mad at herself, but she was too guilty to get the same kind of angry again. She pulled her hands back, putting them in her lap, hoping that it'd make her feel better, though the greenhead's words didn't comfort Luzia any. She knew that she hated her now, and she couldn't really blame her. She got angry for a second, and people tended to die when she got angry.
Luzia looked away from those pretty, pretty eyes and sighed. She was leaving now, and she was gonna be alone again... or at least, she thought. Before the dread and regret could force their way into her heart, she went wide-eyed, blushing in surprise as her head was taken and hugged into the window of the greenhaired lady's sweater. For a split second, Luzia was just surprised that she did that, then flicked her eyes up, staring for a second... then smiling into a big, almost dopey grin, so relieved that she didn't hate her that she actually interrupted her, jumping up out of her seat and hugging her tightly enough that it almost hurt. Like a switch, in an instant, Luzia was as happy as possible, and she pulled away, smiling so brightly she almost literally shone. She didn't hate her after all! She even liked her enough to hug her!
"Nah, nah, I gotta go have that talk with my boyfriend. I'm gonna have to do it eventually, right? Might as well do it now! Thanks for the talk, I appreciate it a lot!"
Giggling happily, Luzia leaned in, giving her a soft, affectionate kiss on the cheek before grabbing her phone and her cord, already running out as she curled the cord to shove in her backpack.
