"..." Well that was a weird thing to be called out on, but she idly shrugged at the choice of words. "Well I call most people dear, so i certainly mean it as far as I use the word. More a term of address. You, it, she, her, him, they, Dear, all the same in my books, though I will say i do save 'dear' for those I at least have some sense of fondness for... or at the very least those I feel no negativity or animosity for." She delivered an idle shrug on the topic, walking over and laying down the snacks as she initially intended and resting her rear on the free space on the furniture, loosening herself up a bit as she looked over the frogs. Even if they were quite... ugly things, she had been growing more endeered to them over time, more so like a batch of puppies or simple minded toddlers. Not exactly 'beautiful' but an odd joy to watch in their own right.
With some confirmation from one of his toads that she'd upheld her end of the bargain, she held a briefly smug smile about the fact. She really shouldn't afterall she was just indeed holding up her end of the deal, but she couldn't help but still feel an odd sense fo satisfaction at subverting his expectations on the matter, maybe briefly peeking out the tip of her tongue to be extra childish about it, leaning back against the headboard of the bed to get a little more comfortable in her smug moment. As he continued to show precaution however she let out a defeated sigh, rolling her head back and sinking deeper into the bed as she fully fell backwards. If she was really going to turn on him this was definitely the wrong move to be making here, giving herself up in a completely defenseless position solely for the brief 'gag' of showing her frustration with him and how utterly tiring his distrust is. "Dear dear dear who hurt you so much that you can't even have a cup of coffee without testing it." She pushed herself up and leaned back on her hands, tipping her head to the side. "Seriously what do you feel I have to gain here? I have you in my home, you broke in far too easily for it to be a coincidence that your here. Even if I WHERE to hand you intot he police they'd clearly know i had some involvement with you and then there goes my own happily ever after.~ So, please enlighten me as to what I have to gain from poisoning you? Hm?~" She felt fairly confident in her assertions, afterall it was true. Minimal benefit came from capturing him or handing him to anyone. There was much more to gain in making him a friend. "Also as far as entering without permission, shall I remind you who's roof this is?"
Still, not about to let his suspicions sour her mood, she sipped on her own drink and continued to relax with him in that moment, it was good to hear he was getting back some of his old footholds that much was certain, though it did feel somewhat nice that, even with them, he'd still seen the possibility to rely on her own offer of sanctuary. "Well, you'll always have this one to hide in at your leisure... and the ability to leave. Doubt you'll ever need to fight for it though.~" She took anothr sip. "Shame some of them won't be viable again though... when you say collapse did they literally... blow them up?"
At the question of herself, she nodded along with a gentle smile. "Its a simple life but i enjoy it. Sold a few fake IDs to some criminals trying to get out of the country last week but little more daring than that.~"

Ed didn't like being called something endearing by people he didn't trust completely. It was quite a simple fact to be honest. Usually it just felt fake into his ears, like a hook to get used to them. And then when you least expected it... well, Marcie in this case was just laying on the bed all sorts of vulnerable. Maybe she was playing dead to not scare the frogs away again. However, the girl kept moving, which pretty much made that whole effort obsolete. However, He grabbed the sandwich brought to him, giving it the same old sniffing that he had given the coffee. Though this time the frogs were looking at him almost expectantly. "Kwak." "back off" yeah, sadly like Don, all the other frogs were also quite into them being given food. Though that was a thing for all animals maybe. Easiest way to get them to follow you, was providing nourishment. 'A way to a mans heart is food...' although that thought made him look at the sandwich even more suspiciously.
However, marcie interrupted his paranoia with a quite insulting question. Admittedly, she did have a point. If police did find him in her offices, they would make a connection too easily, that she had been helping him. But, in the end, she was a villain, just like he was, and he knew what they could do. "You could probably do it just for the satisfaction of ruining my life!" A very rude and bold claim. "There is always a risk that I meet someone loco like that. And if I put too much trust in them, that's my friends without anyone to take care of them! That is why!" It was common sense to him! So this privileged girl implying it was stupid to be careful clearly got on his nerves. Just the feeling of everybody always having something to gain from kicking somebody in the nuts, it was annoying!
"You learn to dislike folks, after you work for a crew for three years, and then they throw you away like a plastic bag, leaving you stuck on some rock you didn't wanna be at in the first place!" He punched the floor... not that it did much. He was very very physically. "The only ones who have consistently stuck by my side, were my family here!" The frogs ribbited excitedly... although you couldn't be sure if they were excited that they were praised, or about the fact that some bread from the sandwich in his hands had fallen to the floor. "The difference of course is... You aren't dragging me from one place I didn't like to another place I didn't like. So that's a start." He took a bite finally, almost to calm down his frustrations. The person was trying to be nice, he should try to be nicer too. "That and the food is much better here..." Vagabonds didn't really have a cook, now that he thought about it.
Luckily, the topic went into much more comfortable direction next. Well, something he wasn't AS adamant about. "Well, most of the time they didn't try to..." One of the rare times Ed could consider the police sensible. "It's just that the villains they went to catch aren't nearly as courteous about property damage! Clashes cause accidents, and... You know the rest." Admittedly, it would have been similar, if Savage was still around. "This place does have the advantage, that nobody would want to break it down... Other than maybe some money hungry taxer, but you seem well enough off that is not an issue." It was almost like a thought murmured outloud. It was a rare case of him trying to convince himself that he was safe.
Ed's ears perked up at fake ID's... A way for him to get home? "How much did it cost them to get those things? Probably a big fortune, clothes on them and all." He took another bite of the sandwich, and then lowered the rest of it to the frogs... They were quite thankful about it with how loud they were trying to get a piece each. Meanwhile, Ed looked a little wistful. "I can understand, why they'd like to go home however. It's painful to leave any nice place you are used to behind." Sadly, spain was probably just a footnote now. Things had probably changed too much since he left. "Reason why it grinds my gears to lose those places. Nothings more frustrating than looking for somewhere free to live at."

Marcie pulled back a little at the rude assertion that she was just in this long con he believed in to ruin his life, sighing softly through her nose and turning her eyes away. He had a point, and he had right and evidence to support his paranoia, but that didn't make her feel any less hurt that she hadn't managed to earn any of his faith. "Well... as much as your words say you don't trust me, here you are. You can sniff the food, you can leave your frogs here... you can take every precaution and be as rude as you like, but at the end of the day you still claim so... I'd see that as a personal victory in earning your trust. Besides, as you say you have a right to hold back your sense of trust from me. I'm not going to force your hand on that...slow and steady and all.~" Despite his own raised voice Marcie remained calm and lax. If she was some psycho bitch she was definitely one that was very open to the idea of being very easily killed at any given moment, given how low her own guard was.
Listening along she said little, as Eduardo may be giving away more than he realized. He didn't want to be in Japan... he was just stuck here because his old team abandoned him and he couldn't find a safe way home. Marceline could offer some direct solutions to such an issue but.. no. Not right now. it was too soon and he barely trusted her as it was, so she kept her lips sealed on such a matter. Just... quietly musing on the idea to herself... The compliments he threw in were pretty nice to ease her own mood though.~
She chuckled a little at his mention of the tax people coming to trash her home over any criminals, shaking her head. "Oh I have ways to deal with that lot don't you worry about me on that front... besides, if there's ever any reason for you not to be here I'll be sure to give a clear enough symbol to one of your frogs if they're in the neighbourhood. I wouldn't want a health inspector to drop by only to find out I'm hiding a criminal upstairs." She let out an idle giggle, resting on her back in the bed again. She noticed some parts of the sheets were a little... crusty, from where the frog had slimed it up and it had since dried, but nothing that ruined her comfort and couldn't be fixed with a shower after their gathering.
She noticed the attention Ed gave t the fake ideas, smiling subtly. "My quirk effectively layers over whatever it needs to so... most i'd need is a blank passport book, or someone else's passport. Those can be much easier to achieve. All i have to do is pay someone double the cost of replacing their passport, I take their old one, imprint the fake details with my quirk, and sell it off for 10 times what it cost. Maybe a little less if someone really needs it. So long as i at least turn a minimal profit I'm hardly the type to complain... why. Is someone interested?~"

Ed just couldn't read this lady at all. Despite all these things he kept saying, clearly hurtful and insulting, Marcie just kept talking to him. It almost felt like she was implying that despite all of his doubts, he actually liked her quite a lot. "Krrrrrrr..." He murmured. She was too relaxed. Too calm! Like she had him right where she wanted him to be! Or... She actually didn't have anything against him. But that couldn't be. Ed couldn't help but place his hand on his forehead. God, he was just heating up from all these panicky thoughts pushing through like shocks in his brain. In some regards, those praises he had said weren't exactly lies, and it had worked for now. He was pretty much wrestling with his sense of self-preservation, and all those failures in trust before compared with this that for the moment, seemed like genuine kindness. Yet, that whole villain marker was a like tag next to her name saying 'not to be trusted'...
In that regard, it seemed like the girl indeed had plans in mind for if the more corporate foes came knocking. Ed actually tipped his head a little. He had not even considered needing to prepare for 'a health inspectors' visit. "Not exactly been in a place that has to be kept clean in a long time." Was that a small chuckle? "Good thing about staying on the move. No need to keep the places that habitable for something else than myself." However, with the thought added into his head, a different sort of paranoia entered his mind. "...Come to think of it, I need to learn to clean my feet before entering here! Who knows what sort of marks I could leave on your walls!" He rubbed his cheeks in worry! In nature, it was different, but for a building...! Living with savage and others had really left him in a bachelor level of Hygiene!
The more curious thing however, was Marcies explanation of the ID:s she could create. Apparently she needed just a passport of some kind! heck, getting a passport was easy! He could just steal one on his own! No worries about paying that sort of cost! And then he could buy it for 10 TIMES THE ORIGINAL COST!? "Eh? Eh!?" There he had went again, his excitement having gotten the better of him. "Never mind being interested. Getting cash to pay such high maintenance villains such as yourself is a locos errand!" He degraded back into the little bit ranty mood! Of course, this would be the point, where they get greedy!
Admittedly, was there anything he wanted to see in spain anyway anymore? It had been a long while since he had left. Maybe his parents had kicked the bucket already. Maybe that place where he had tried to work at had gone bankrupt! Maybe even all the frogs he had left there had died off, with him not keeping an eye on them... His mind kept racing once again. With all those excuses not to go, his curiosity on seeing how the place was, was as big as ever.
And for that, he got a mild idea. "Unless you would be ready to do it for me for... something else?" A deal. A one-off deal. Not long term that would bind him for years on end on a job that would land him in a dead end. And for what. "I can tell you, I have a LOT of information about the city! My frogs! They can hear anything if I place them close enough to the spot you want to listen to! Be it some competitors secret recipe, or some hag you wanna bump off the leader boards, my frogs can help you with it! I could just provide you with the passport, and that's it." He could find out anything if he tried! There was a reason why he was the spy of the vagabonds! The main reason why they could fight and keep up with the likes of red horn! But in the end, there was still that risk of him getting stabbed in the back! With him walking around with a passport done by her, she could just let him be busted at the airport, leaving his connection with him a complete secret... Although...!
in the end, it was a deal where both of them got something, and both of them had a knife behind their back! They would both fall, if it came down to it! Somehow, just the knowledge, that he was not on a risky sinking ship alone, made him that much more comfortable! That much more happy!

Marcie chuckled along a little bit as he spoke about not having to worry about keeping places clean for a while, but, as he came to the conclusion that her alley wall. She sat up a little more upright but… hm. Not something that desired immediate panic. “I shall… set up something perhaps. Maybe see if I can get in contact with any quirkers that can make a surface clean permanently…?” No, too uncertain a factor to rely on. She could set up a water bowl for him to was his feet in but then he’d just leave even more obvious wet footprints and he hardly had the time to dry them off if he was escaping some thugs… hmmm… “Well for now it’s not like some marks on a dingey alleyway wall are too urgent a thing to worry about, but I’m sure we’ll come to some sort of solution…” Maybe she could cover the alleyway in a non-stick material of some kind and disguise it as some form of charitable art display? Possibly… something to chew on.
Despite the hefty number though it seemed Eduardo was still interested in making some exchange of services here. Ooooh. Certainly interesting… she definitely dealt in information in her own way. More taking advantage of the idle whispers and who she knew than gathering the information herself but… yes. She could definitely use this… “Well I mean... it’s hard to quantify the value of information with a number in Yen but… where I to think of something I needed to know I’m sure we could come to SOME form of arrangement…~” She smiled almost deviously as a thought occurred to her. “… How dangerous a source would you be willing to track? I may have an idea already… assuming you need that passport urgently.~”
Now of course Marcie was teasing him with the idea of it being dangerous, in part she was mostly just gauging how he’d react. She had a few potentially dangerous targets in mind, people she wouldn’t mind having something to hold over in the most dire of circumstances but… if he seemed worried, or cautious, she’d happily come up with something more his speed. There were many more legal business associates she could easily find some form of blackmail over with Ed’s help, and just as many that she certainly wouldn’t mind having such assurance for should a deal potentially go south.

Ed wasn't exactly surprised about her worries, although it did have him clearly backing off as he saw that tinge of seriousness in her eyes. It was pretty clear, that the way she was acting with him wasn't exactly scared at all... But she did give a big ol damn about her image to others. In that regard, it would be easy to abuse too. However, that was not a point today. Maybe for later, but not today. "I do not assume you would like me coming through the front door from now on?" It was problematic. Admittedly, his goop was typically transparent. As long as he was clean, there wouldn't be no issues. Meanwhile, a guy like him, looking like a mr frankenstein walking through the door might grab attention. "Alternatively, maybe if I had some sponges..." A very cartoonish thought. Him sliding down the same way he came cleaning the wall once he left. "Never mind." He had SOME dignity.
However, most importantly... his offer seemingly interested her. He couldn't help but grin. He kept nodding along, as the lady seemingly took the bait. Although, only almost. She did still have her questions about how big of a target he would be able to look into. "Well, I would say I don't mind it being a big target. Just need some preparation time and things depending on it." If it was a simple office building, it would be easy enough to get into. If it was some super high tech building, that would prove to be a little bit harder. "In the end, it comes down to if I am able to insert a frog into the building or not."
However, surprisingly enough, there was a little bit more to it. If he could get in there, and find out this info for her... well, that meant that he would know said info too, and could use it for his own purposes later. It had been ages, since he had felt this excited about the prospect of putting himself in danger. "It is a gamble of course. So whatever you need, I would assume the prize at the end is worth exactly that passport!" His hands motioned excitedly, speaking about all the opportunities! There was so much to gain! The trust of this woman, the passport, the info from whatever she wanted! Honestly, he could only salivate at the thought. The frogs followed his hands almost in trance, as Don and Rosita just looked around...
The passport in the end, would take him to a place, that would have forgotten he even existed. It would now be a perfect hiding spot from anything dangerous, and he could even perhaps retire. But... "That, and of course, if you come up with more places to go later, I would be happy to oblige for simple... monetary payment!" He rubbed his fingers in front of her, causing the dumber frogs to cheer like he had grabbed a snack and offering it to them. In the end, if he wanted to live comfortably and safely, he would need a lot of cash. And a way to keep that cash coming. And if all this info would provide him with it... It would all be worth it. "In the end, you wouldn't need to do much at all. You could just take some sun in, while I am doing work!" he tried to shine light on the things beneficial to her, instead of to him of course. "And in the end, we both benefit, and neither loses anything if the other fails, yes?"

“Mmm… I wouldn’t mind you coming in the front if you can do so casually-“ She admitted, before gesturing to the window he’d climbed in today. “But if it’s another chase scene like that I don’t need someone like yourself rushing into my store with a bunch of thugs rushing in behind them. Even if no law enforcers catch wind of that people are going to talk and… well, you know how quickly words can spread. I’m sure you might be aware of that more than most even… don’t worry though. We’ll come to a solution. If need be I can rent out a space separate from my cafes. Wouldn’t be too hard to hide it as a poor choice in branching out that I’m struggling to re-sell…” Then again, what would be the difference between hiding out in any old abandoned building and one she just happened to own? Ah well,- “We’ll figure something out. Don’t worry.”
Thinking on the situation with his information gathering offer…“Mmm… I might actually have some easy targets for you then.~” She smiled warmly. If all he needed was to get a frog into a place than her targets were the perfect shmucks. Most of them tended to have some open air yen garden or another if you struck their more elaborate homes and the higher members of their organizations. A patient toad would likely find himself right at home in such locations. “They’re more dangerous than high tech but… I’m sure you can work something out. Business secrets and the like are more than easy for me to obtain but with my work in the criminal world, it never hurts to have a hefty blackmail folder over someone in the yakuza or other such families.~”
There were… complications, to consider, but all in all it did seem like a very beneficial deal in her favour… she rose from the bed and turned on the spot, smiling gently as she offered her hand. “Well, I doubt I’ll be able to give you any more work once you leave me with that passport but… I think we might have a deal. Don’t you?~”

Marcie clearly understood the value of the information he could provide. In that, they had a similar mindset. And for that, the deal made sense. Even After her musings, saying that it was even worse than high tech, Ed was still on board. Because whatever happened, they would still both be at risk in some fashion if one of them was captured. But when she doubted if she would stick around after he got the passport, he smirked. "I might want to get out of here... But there are some things that I might find beneficial in here first. Going back home empty-handed would be foolish, when chances are right around the corner." There was something different about it. That glimmer in his eye. That readiness to try something new... it was almost childlike.
But, as the lady offered her hand over the frogs to him, Ed lifted his in answer. "For the prosperous future we all were promised!" If this plan indeed was a success... Ed would have a way to that safety and freedom he craved so much. The frogs croaked in unison! Many frogs had died on the way, but finally, he was certain of at least one part of his grand plan being done. Now, the rest of it would be up to sheer hard work on his part... and making these chances he would get as safe as possible...
