It has all gone to shit.
Bura thought to himself as he tried to break with the steel chains bounding his hands behind him and his feet together, but as he does so, one of those white-haired villains noticed him attempting an escape, and she kicked him in the shoulder. It didn't hurt much, so he didn't react, but the white-haired woman with dog features let out a hiss from the pain of kicking him. "What the fuck are you made out of?!" She growled as she pointed a knife at him, Bura despite the growing fear bubbling in his gut managed to keep his poker face straight, and he responded with a casual, "Muscles if you didn't resort to such dirty tactics as threatening children with guns I could've beaten you all by now-"
Before Bura could finish talking, he got hit over the head with the handle of the blade, which got more of a reaction of the giant teen as he grunted from the force and kept his eyes shut and once the pain ebbed away, Bura defiantly glared at the woman who struck him. She let out an annoyed "Psh, you heroic types never shut the fuck up, do y'all?" she muttered as she was about to hit him again, the leader of the trio-the one trio with the gun, let out a low growl, and the dog woman about to hit again let out a sigh and gave her leader the finger before going back on patrol. Bura let out a low sigh he was scared, as much as the people behind him who were all hiding behind him in fear and hope for protection. Bura had to keep being strong and brave for these people, who cannot protect themselves. The strong must protect the weak after all.
Bura not being able to do much right this moment but lay on his side and think of how he got himself into this mess. He was out clothes shopping, that weird broadcast came on, and suddenly the streets went insane with riots Bura managed to scare off most of the would-be criminals and villains with his massive size and muscles from entering the store. But then these white-haired women came with their weapons and pointed their gun at a group of pre-schoolers. These kids' safety is more important than his well-being and to be heroic, so he let himself be tied down and captured.
But Bura has a plan to escape and keep these people safe. But he needed a distraction, with how this store is right in the corner there are two entryways, and if Bura could only get one of them away from one of the doors, he could distract the kidnappers and at least the other customers and kids could get out of here by making a break for it when he fought them off.
Bura turned around to look at the side door he wanted the children and other customers to make a break for if-wait is somebody standing outside-It's Michi-chan, Bura wanted to call out to her, but he held his tongue he didn't want to alert the women of her presence. He looked at her and with his best expression, and tried to convey, "What are you doing here?!"

Somewhere, in the back of her mind, she knew she shouldn't be doing this. The best course of action was to find somewhere to hide, somewhere small, quiet, to dig in and curl up until this was all over. In fact, that's what she wanted... all she heard was yelling, crashing, and violence... all around her, it was just violence, violence, violence....
She was scared.
Every bad person, every 'villain', every murderer, petty thief... they were all free, and they were everywhere... left, right, forward, back, even up and down in some cases. She was alone. She was surrounded, she couldn't fight any of these people off if she was found... her life was very much in danger, and it was all UA's fault!
But even so, her feet kept moving, making her run, making her hide and duck out of peoples' notices in order to find someone. Buruburu-san was worried for his safety, and for some reason she was running to him. What could she do? It wasn't like she could defend him... but he probably wasn't in that bad a position... he was just big and fluffy, he probably just couldn't find a hole big enough for him to hide in properly. Really, it was ridiculous, her running so far so fast for him, but she could at least be there for him, try to keep him calm. She was good at staying calm.
At least, if you ignored her hyperventilating.
Finally, she got to the door of the place that Buruburu-san was supposed to be - a side door, since the street door was filled with a very much violent crowd - and stopped. For a moment, she justt needed to catch her breath, to try to calm her heart, forgetting entirely about her mantra, about her emotions. For once in her life, she was more concerned with something other than the panic trying to set in.
She almost pushed the door open, brazenly entering... but a smarter part of her stopped her, and instead, she looked inside, and what she saw inside made her gasp, and she breathed even faster. Buruburu-san was laying on the ground! He didn't seem hurt, but he was tied up, and he had a couple of people with him.. and he was staring right at her, with an expression anyone could recognize.
She didn't 'answer' back, though, she looked arouned, gasping softly as she saw the people that had weapons, and turned away, panic starting to set in, breathing even faster, her fingers uncharacteriscally fast as they tapped at ther phone. It was the only thing she could think of to do; get help. Without a single idea of what to do, she asked for help in the school chat, and though she had to wait a few hours for a reply - really, a few seconds, but it felt like hours when she was trembling so much - she had her orders. They made perfect sense, coming down from the principal himself; set the panic setting on, wait for a pro to come, which she did immediately.
But still, she looked at Buruburu, completely forgetting to not show the emotions coursing through her. Fear, concern, and worry were on her face, and Buruburu would be able to see every single one as she smiled meekly, trying to silently tell him the good news, pointing at her phone and giving him a thumbs up. It was definitely not a brave thumbs up, it was an attempt to reassure him, to comfort him, something that she had never done in her life, and her horrendously awkward grin showed it.
Dink dink dink.
Michi blinked, looking to the side, and the color - what little of it existed naturally - drained from her face like water disappearing from a bathtub. Her heart froze, her entire body went cold when everything stopped.
There was a gun pointed to her face.
She had never seen one outside of a book before, and she didn't have any personal experience with them, but she knew of the dangers of them. They were illegal for a reason, and she couldn't stop her lip from trembling as she stared at it. The girl opened the door, and even without her saying anything, Michi knew that she was to come in, holding up her phone so it could be taken from her. She was then led to Buruburu, forced to sit down in front of him.
It took a few moments, but the hostage-taker let her attention move on, and when it did, she immediately whispered with a lot more anger than she usually let in her voice. "Buruburu-san why are you in chains?!"

Bura kept his eyes glued onto the white-haired girl outside as the fear and anxiety bubbling up in his chest until it threatened to boil out of his mouth. He wanted to scream at her to run, get away from here. His earlier bravado gave way to panic as worry for his classmate replaced it. He wanted nothing more than to break these chains and go on a rampage to protect everybody and to protect Michi. The steely boned girl tried to comfort him by giving him a shaky thumbs up even though her expression was as scared as he was. They were both filled with fear.
The rising tension between boiled over when Bura's single-minded attention on Michi shifted to fear as one of the dog-eared women pointed a gun at her, and Bura could feel his blood pumping with rage and fear in equal measures. Bura's eyes for the first time in a long time started to glow in the dark, a thing that hasn't happened in months, he thought he was doing so well too. Bura's wool started to fluff up much like how a dog or wolf fluffed up when anger or scared-at this point Bura couldn't tell what he was feeling due to his blood burning with such intense hate. For the woman with the gun, his mind got flooded with thoughts of beating her down, of hurting her. To make her suffer.
Bura's intense-bloodthirsty glare and expression were obvious as the woman led Michi towards the hostages. Bura's breathing got so angry that it hung in the spring air for a brief moment. Before being replaced with another angry huff. He will make her hurt-make her suffer-make her unable to move. Make her dead. Make them bleed on the ground for daring to threaten a friend.
Bura was growling at this point as Michi was set on the ground his glowing eyes and ruffled wool almost standing on end, Bura was all but ready to break from his chains and kill that woman. For daring to point a gun at Michi. Who was muttering to him at this point, but her words fell on deaf ears as his enraged blood coursed through his body and blocked out any words that weren't the woman's screams. Bura has gone full bull.
Bura's change in demeanor hasn't gone unnoticed by the hostage-takers nor by the other hostages. The rising tension among them was palpable, Bura's blood rage was all but unknown to everybody at U.A. he tried so hard for so long to block out his rage-but it all came flooding back. And it threatened to drown them all in his single minded wrath.

Something was wrong... very, very wrong... she had never seen Buruburu-san with a scowl, much less one as deep as this. He was panting so heavily... did his eyes always glow like that? It was dark here... but... did she ever see him in the dark before...? She strained her brain, trying to remember, but it was hard to remember a tiny detail like that... her own breath was quickened, out of fear rather than anger, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to stay calm.
"Buruburu-san!"
Her usual stoicism was completely gone; she was a scared young girl, nothing more, nothing less, and she nudged her classmate, the one person here she felt closest to, almost enough to say a friend - if only because she was awkward with calling people friends - whispering to him to try to get his attention. "Buruburu-san! Come on, calm down! We shouldn't do anything, someone will be here soon to help us. Stay calm!"
Despite her words, she nervously flicked her eyes to the people that were holding them hostage. One... two... three... three fair-skinned girls in prison jumpsuits, with dog ears and pointed, not-dog tails. Were there any others? She couldn't see any, but that didn't mean there weren't any. All three of them were looking - and glaring - at Buruburu, and again, sh e looked to him, scared and worried. What got him like this? What was he going to do if he didn't calm down?
"Buruburu-san?"

Something was indeed wrong. And Bura exactly knew what was wrong but was not in the right shape of mind to explain himself or his reaction. Bura's protective nature was reaching its logical conclusion. Bura's glowing eyes glared at the armed woman with such intense hate and anger and desire to maim it was almost palpable in the air. Bura growly breathes sounded bated for the upcoming violence and gore if he had his way with the dog-like woman. Bura's heart was beating in his ears like war drums beating to the rhythm of all-consuming rage. His blood burns with the craving of violence, his mouth felt cottony, and his wool was now standing on end.
Michi's cries of his name were drowned out by the drumming of his heart and the rage flowing through his veins. Even the girl's fearful cries for him to calm down fell on rageful ears as it echoed in his mind like a chamber and only enraged him more on the one with the gun. She has to suffer-she to hurt-she has to fear him.
Bura attempted to inch his way to the woman with the gun not caring that he was tied up, not that the women had weapons, not that it's placing others in danger all he cared about was harming the woman, who threatened his friend as she did, she will pay for her transgressions. Make her pay, make her pay, make her pay, make her pay, make her pay----
Suddenly as he was inching his way forward, a foot slammed against the back of the head slamming his face down to the ground. Bura's so raged filled the pain didn't register, and the woman who did it looked proud of herself, for kicking a child while they are down. She kicked Bura in the face to make his face from facing the ground up at them. Bura barely noticed the pain, instead, his red and black eyes glowed with greater intensity as they focused on the woman with the gun who was laughing with her lookalike. Bura's growling only intensifies not at the pain, but at the sight of her, his mark.
Bura's rage-filled animalistic voice could only rudimentary sound out, "Maake yoou paay, teear yoou appart, foor yoour acctions, Miichi---chhan---ii--maake heer paay---" Bura sounded out in deep husky growls as he suddenly lifts his head a certain angle to catch the woman's ankle between his horns and he twisted her ankle beyond normal human limits which caused the dog-woman to scream from the pain, but suddenly Bura use his amazing upper-body strength to launch the woman with the broken ankle at the gun-totting doppelganger who was taken by surprise which means that left----Suddenly in a brief moment of lucidity Bura saw the woman with the knife dashing towards him and he isn't fast enough to dodge---he can't do anything to change what is about to happen.

As she stared into those glowed, narrowed eyes, her body grew colder and colder as the fear gripped her tighter and tighter, squeezing her heart like a vice and freezing her blood in her veins. Something was wrong was an obvious statement, but it felt so right to think; Buruburu-san was a gentle person, kind and sweet - she could tell as much even as stoic as she preferred to be - and yet, there was something in his face... it wasn't just anger... he looked like he wanted to murder.
Much to her horror, that was confirmed when Buruburu-san started to crawl, inching like a worm towards... towards... fuck! She winced when one of the ladies kicked the back of his head. What kind of idiot was Buruburu?! He should know far better than this!
But then... time suddenly... it didn't freeze, but it slowed down... but at the same time, it somehow went faster, too. Buruburu suddenly locked his horns around the ankle of the one that kicked her, then threw her into another one of the girls, but despite it going so fast that she couldn't move, she could see every detail, every motion as she stared wide-eyed at Buruburu... going crazy! There wasn't another word for it! But that was only two of them, the other... the other...!
Suddenly, Michi moved, th ere wasn't a thought that crossed her head, her body moved like it had a mind of its own; she ran over to Buruburu, jumping over him, and yet, even in her instinctual actions, she was cautious enough to not physically land on him, to not throw all of her weight on top of him as she shielded him, winching when pain suddenly echoed through her as the knife thrust into her lower back.
"Augh!"
She screamed, trembling softly, unsure of what to doo, so just doing what her instincts told her; staying put, shielding Buruburu and keeping him down so he wouldn't keep hurting people.

That moment of focus didn't last long, and instead of rage was replaced by fear and distress. Bura's glowing eyes lessened to their normal state as he stares wide-eyed at the woman with the knife that pierced his friend's back and then back at Michi.
It took Bura a moment to process what has happened. But when it clicked into place, Bura's rage turned from exploding outwards and turned itself into himself. It threatened to tear apart his heart and mind with grief and regret, how could've he had failed his classmate and friend so badly. All because he couldn't control his anger, he thought he gained control of it. But he didn't. He couldn't control his emotions when she needed him most.
And here she is on top of him protecting him from any attacks while he can do better himself than she could herself. He failed his namesake as ProtectBull, and he needed to be protected like he was quirkless. Like he was as weak and useless as the quirkless masses. All because he let his emotions get the better of him. Why-why can't he control them when he needed to the most? Why are his feelings too powerful for him to fall.
Bura's eyes stung, and this time not from them glowing but with tears welling up in them. He failed at being a hero, and all he did was cause a friend to get hurt due to his stupid recklessness and weakness. Bura's throat started to feel rough as chocks of sobs came bubbling his mouth like vomit as he choked out a small, "Y-Yamazaki-san---" as Bura looks at Michi with a horrified expression.
A mix of the horror of her wound, the fear from what will happen next, until his anger started bubbling back to the surface which he is actively surpassing this time around. For what will happens if he loses himself again as he did just now. Even right this moment, Bura's eyes flicker from glowing and not. A warning to the dog woman anybody who could see that he was still dangerous.

A silver flash cut through the air, and the lights above Buru, Michi, and the trio of thugs exploded, plunging the back of the store into darkness, glass raining down from above. Half a heartbeat later, a green blur of motion darted through the front door of the shop, arcing straight at the dog-faced woman.
A fist lashed out, slamming into the canid thug’s face, driving her back. Before she could recover, the blur’s hand reached up, catching a falling...baton, presumably the object that had shattered the lights, which expanded into a whirling quarterstaff swing at knee-level to the thug.
As he slid to a stop, Serperior lashed his tail out at the second thug--the one who was still trying to find her feet, slamming her into a wall, and pinning her there.
“Surrender!” Serperior called out cheerfully. “Serperior springs into action!”
His mood didn’t match his words. Under the cheerful, devil-may-care smile, his heart was hammering in fear.
They’d made a mistake sending students into this mess. He should have said something earlier. He’d been springing from emergency call to emergency call, and now, first-years were involved--
He tried to size up the first years--Burabura Burabura (of all the absurd names), and Michi Yamazaki. Michi was hurt, and Bura looked like he was about to hurt someone. Neither was good. If he had to treat an injured student, or hold Bura back, that meant taking his eyes off the thugs.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t come faster, students. I am here now.” Serperior said calmly, trying to sound like Hachi did. She knew how to do this. He was still making it up. But after Redhorn’s rampage, he had to be better. Had to be the best. “You’ve done well on your own. Can you retreat?”

Michi stared at... nothing.
She was wide-eyed, and her face was pale; but she knew nothing, saw nothing. Nothing but pain, pain that she had never experienced. Her heart pounded, and with every quickened beat, the red spot in the back of her shirt grew a little bit more. She was so shocked she couldn't... she didn't understand what was happening. No horror was on her face, not even pain was on her face; it was nothing but confusion, nothing but shock. Why was she hurting so much?
"Bu... Bu... Buruburu-san..."
Her fingers slowly curled in; her habits had suddenly been completely overridden, her complex of self-control swallowed up by the pain, leaving nothing but... her. Her fingers curled in strong enough to dig into the floor, scraping strongly enough to make them bleed, though she didn't notice that; there was only one pain in her right now.
Why did it hurt so much?
Why did her back feel like it was on fire?
Why did her back feel like ice?
Michi's eyes never moved; they stared deep, deep, deeply into Buruburu's, seeing that glowing in his eyes flash on and off. That glow was the only thing that existed, Buruburu and herself were the only things that existed. Somewhere, in some distant land, she could vaguely hear some banging and thuds, but they were so far away, why would they matter? She stared into his eyes, looking for that glow, her voice trembling.
"Bu... Buruburu-san... you... you have to stay calm... a... pro hero will be here soon..."
She didn't cry, she didn't whimper, she didn't moan; the pain didn't matter, it didn't matter a single bit; she had to get Buruburu under control, she had to stop him from getting himself hurt, she had to stop him from getting in trouble with the school! "You... know... you can't... do anything..." she said again, grunting as she moved her limbs, pushing him down to pin him, "It's against... the rules... just... stay down and wait...!"

Suddenly, there was a flash of light and then darkness. The only light that anybody could see was the flickering of Bura's eyes. But despite all the flashy fighting and protection by the Pro-hero, all Bura could focus on was her eyes. Serprior's words echoed in his mind. But it sounded like nothing, all he heard was his rage-filled blood, flowing to his head, and filling it with disgusting thoughts, like bile as if he was sick.
But for the first time in the past few minutes. He finally heard and understood words. Michi stared straight into his flickering eyes as she says his name. And for the first time in what felt like in forever, his eyes stopped flickering, and they stay normal no more glowing-no more feral expression, just the look of a scared kid who lost control of his emotions who's eyes started to well up with tears as his mind started to pick up on the last few minutes, and the guilt threatening to boil over and consume his mind with regret and anger at himself.
But Michi kept speaking, despite the knife wound, despite how scared she looks, despite everything they are going through, she is protecting him, while it should be the other way. He failed her, and she needed to protect him from his own mistakes. When she pinned him down with her massive weight, Bura wasn't in pain, but he cried, his tears freely falling now. His sniffles turn into full-on sobs as he failed to hold back anymore Bura wrapped his arms around Michi and squeezed tightly as he cried into her shoulder and his tears staining her already blood-stained shirt.
Bura's sobbing got muffled by her shoulder as he is consumed by all of his overactive emotions finally consuming him and any other thought process failed him, all he can think to say was, "Yamazaki-san-I'm sorry-I'm sorry-I'm sorry-I'm sorry-!" Bura said between sobs as he couldn't think of any other words but Michi's name and I'm sorry.
What else can be said at this moment?
That can truly convey how he felt.
That he was a scared child, who saw too much too fast.
At that moment, Bura realized how much over his head he was.
He is still a child in the grand scheme of things.
And it was sobering to remember that.
And it cost him so much to learn that lesson.
He never wants to pay this price ever again. Never again.

Oh dear. This was worse than I thought.
The two students were slow to respond to his questions. Even his entrance barely impacted them. Shock. That was clearly what was going on. They were both in shock.
He’d been rather hoping the students could help each other escape so he could focus on arresting the escaped prisoners. That didn’t seem very likely right now.
A selfish piece of Mikki wanted to curse the students out; to tell them to get on their feet, to move, or die. If he helped them, that was as good as leaving the gangsters to escape, or worse, opening himself up to a hit. His duty, however, was clear:
Help civilians before punishing the guilty.
Mikki pressed the tip of his quarterstaff down on the dog-thug’s chest, holding her there, basically a hostage, as he fished in the gear sash around his waist.
“Bura. Please listen to me right now? I need you to follow my instructions. I promise you can rest when you’re safe, but I need your help.” He said, slow, calm, like he was speaking to a child. He pulled out a roll of gauze, and tore off a big strip with his teeth, then held it out to Bura, still watching the thugs out of the corner of his eye, quarterstaff still firmly planted on the leader’s chest. “Take this, and press it to where Yamazaki-san’s bleeding from. Hold it there, and press hard. Can you do that, Bura?”
He waited to see if the bull-child would obey, feeling sweat bead around his collar. Anger was roiling inside him. Not at himself. At UA. Too young. They were all too goddamn young. And he was just as guilty as anyone there.
“Now--let’s get you two out of here! Bura, let Yamazaki lean on you, and walk with me. I won’t let anything else hurt you. You did well. I promise. You're not in trouble.” Mikki said, trying to put some style into it. He stared back at the thugs, watching them shift. They realized this was the moment they had a chance to run, or maybe attack. His eyes went hard.
I could just break a knee, or bite someone. That’d solve the problem quickly.
And traumatize the students even more.
Duty was a heavy burden.
Mikki hissed between his teeth, showing his fangs to the thugs.
“Don’t run. Don’t try to attack. If you run, the police will shoot at you. They’re too busy right now to arrest you peacefully. And if you come after me, or the students…” Mikki grinned wide, trying to channel the full menace he’d put into his villainous persona on TV. “I’ll make you regret that choice for the next decade. You’ll wish you’d never left the safety of the prison walls.”
He bent down, patting down his captive for the key to Bura's handcuffs, then, when he found it, removed the quarterstaff from her chest, turning away. His spine prickled. Mikki braced himself to an attack, but didn't stop, unlocking the cuffs around Bura's hands and ankles. When he was done, he tossed them aside. He only could have restrained one thug anyway. What was the point?
He gently put his hands on Bura's biceps, which were nearly as thick around as Mikki's own waist, preparing to help the student up. It was hilarious, in a way--despite his age, Bura might weigh more than even Mikki did, tail and all.
“So. Here’s how we’re gonna do this. You lean on me, Yamazaki leans on you. You keep the gauze pressed tight to the injury. I know she’s heavy, but you’re strong.” Mikki explained, still slow and soothing. “One, two, three...up!”
And with that, he used as much strength as he could to help Bura and Michi to their feet, and started making his way toward the exit.
