One could find Masahiko wandering the Minamoto family home on sunny days. He hated the place, but going out on nice days like this was no good, as too many people had the same idea, and he hated crowds. Plus, he disliked the feeling of the sun on his grey skin. It was a miserably long and boring day. He managed to not see a single other soul the entire afternoon. Maybe his family had gone out, or they might just be somewhere else in the immense mansion. It made little difference to him, if he ended up in the same room as one of his brothers, they'd just leave without a word, his mother would try to make some sort of conversation and fail miserably, his father though, he would likely just glare at him and expect the family freak to leave the room. It was an unpleasant existence, but Masahiko didn't care about it too much anymore. Besides, even the sunniest days would eventually surrender to the evening.
Though he preferred going out in the rain, Masahiko wasn't going to let a pleasantly cool evening go to waste. Desiring some distance from his family despite not seeing any of them during the day, the mutant boarded a train to Tokyo, figuring he could enjoy the nightlife a little. It had taken him a bit to figure out how to get into bars and clubs, looking as young as he does without proper ID. His father would never let a card be printed with their family name next to the picture of a mutant, so he had to get a forgery using a fake name, Masahiko Masaoka. He still got eyed suspiciously rather often, but he was normally able to get in easy enough with such a high-quality fake.
He chose to settle into a small nightclub for a bit. Sure, he may have hated crowds, but there was something different about the energy of a nightclub. Maybe it was because people couldn't see him as well in the dark, maybe it was because there was some sort of kinship between all the freaks out partying that late, maybe he just liked the music. Whatever it was, it was enough to keep him there for a few hours into the AM. He didn't drink much, he never did. Masahiko didn't want to make a scene, or at least not one he wasn't fully in control of. However, drunk or not, he would be ending up in a scene soon enough.
Masahiko should have known that at some point being out as late as he was would bite him in the ass. The fangs to this bite would make themselves known as couple of burly men emerged from an alleyway Masahiko happened to step past. One stopped him in his tracks as the other blocked the way he had come from. Nonplussed at first, the grey-skinned young man examined the man in front of him. Shaven head, assorted tattoos, scar on his cheek, but the one thing that really caught Masahiko's attention was the unibrow this thug was sporting. Masahiko had to do his best not to laugh as he finally spoke. "You're in my way, what do you want?"
"Wallet. Now, freak." The thug demanded with all the rudeness one would expect from such a command. Masahiko hesitated and earned a small shove from the other ruffian. Who the hell did they think they were, trying to mug him? These guys were weak and cowardly, picking on him just because he looked like a simple aquatic mutant. He could wipe the floor with these guys, but he didn't want to get his clothes dirty.
"Who are you calling freak, Unibrow? I'll have you kn-"
The next thing Masahiko was aware of was the cold, hard ground pressed against his face as he slowly rose to his knees. He had been swiftly beaten and dragged into the alley before he knew what had hit him. He managed to spot Unibrow going through his wallet before being clocked again by the other thug for daring to sit up. "L-Let go of it, I'll kill you." His muttering earned him a kick to the gut as Unibrow laughed.
"What are you going to do? Swim at me, fishboy?" The thugs laughed. They didn't know how Masahiko's Quirk actually worked, of course. If they did, they'd probably be scared, but what was he supposed to do? Sit there an explain it to them? If he actually used it, he would probably end up grievously injuring one of them. Mugging or not, he shouldn't do that, should he? It's not like he was losing much for letting them get away with his wallet. It would probably be best just to shut up and let them leave, right?

A night out wasn't such a bad thing every once in a while. Jun didn't much care for the rampant consumption of alcohol, or other substances. He found most nightclubs to be obnoxiously and overbearingly loud and the best bars also happened, owing to their quality, to be stiflingly crowded. But the young man had appetites that needed to be sated and as his prey of choice tended towards the nocturnal hours, the downtown night life proved the best hunting grounds. So necessity required he look on the brighter side of the city's darker side. So despite preferring a quiet evening with a good book, Jun had learned to enjoy the occasional night out where he could let himself cut loose without shedding any blood. So it wasn't such a bad thing, every once in a while that is.
With confident steps, Jun walked the streets, having found his favored club, the 'Green Door', to have evidently changed leadership. The first clue being the now blue door at the entrance. And with that blue came louder music as well as distinctly and objectively worse music. It soured his mood as it now meant he first had to find a new watering hole to stalk and at this hour many of the best ones would already have sizable lines for entry.
As he searched for a decent place that didn't have an absurd line to get in, Jun spotted a sudden movement as some burly men and a smaller, grey looking person slipped into an alley. It managed to snag a passing interest in the silver haired boy. He was headed past the same alley and might as well take a peek. Could just be a regular mugging, or the standard altercation that seemed to happen every night when people got wasted. But perhaps it could turn into something more? Something more interesting and a good deal more violent. Perhaps part of him hoped for it, as a means of releasing the tension caused the green door that was blue.
A fairly standard mugging it turned out to be. Or so Jun gathered by the ugliest of the men inspecting a wallet presumably owned by the greyskinned young man. The latter of which made a rather ineffectual threat. It came out more a joke than as a threat. Jun laughed along with the muggers. That got their attention.
"Oh dear, my apologies. I didn't mean to interrupt. Please, do continue with your shakedown. This is all quite amusing." With a cold smile, Jun studied the poor fishy victim. "So then, will you? Swim at them that is? Heaven knows with quirks anything's possible. It would make for quite a show so if you're going to do it then I propose you get to it quick. Or these are liable to kill you the old fashioned way." Jun made a dismissive gesture towards the burly thugs, as if he barely recognized their existence. "I'm Jun by the way, a fellow freak."
Jun wasn't sure why he was getting involved. He really didn't care one way or the other if any of them got maimed or killed. But if he had to answer, he'd probably guess he just wanted to get in on the action himself. That and the chance to potentially see someone kill another person by weaponized swimming was a chance he couldn't miss out on.

Both of the thugs glared back at Jun when he made his presence known, allowing Masahiko to raise his head without being beaten back down. This guy definitely wasn't one of these thugs, yet he carried himself into this situation with a confidence that made it obvious he hadn't an ounce of fear in his bones. Was he just putting on an act like Masahiko himself had been, or did he actually believe that he could take these guys if they chose to start a fight. More than the cold confidence, it was the newcomer's words that hit the grey-skinned young man. Was it his Quirk? Was that how he could enter such a dangerous situation so nonchalantly? He told him, if he didn't fight back with his Quirk, then he would likely be killed.
Masahiko knew that if he just lied down and let them get it over with, he'd be fine aside from a few bruises and a lost wallet, but really, what gave these thugs the right? They thought they could push him around just because they were big or something? They should know better than that. They'd probably already be dead if they tried to mug this other guy. Why should Masahiko be any different if they were fellow freaks?
Unibrow quickly stepped in front of Jun, blocking him from the alley. "This doesn't concern you kid, keep walking unless you want a beatin' too." The thug didn't want to get another kid involved in this, it'd only complicate things for them. Little did he know that Jun had already complicated the whole situation plenty, perhaps unwittingly with his words. Before Unibrow could continue his ineffective intimidation, a gargled scream demanded his attention.
Both Jun and the thug would find Masahiko slowly standing up, three fingers pushed to their knuckles in the mouth of the thug that had been beating him. The thug fell to his knees as the fishman stood, what seemed to be water pouring from the corners of his mouth. Of course, Masahiko's Quirk was more than just water creation, his black water was highly acidic and currently burning away at the thug's throat. Maybe it wasn't strong enough to dissolve the poor guy, but it was enough to leave him on his hands and knees, puking up a mix of the acidic water and his own blood once the Minamoto pulled his hand out of his mouth. With a disgusted grunt, Masahiko wiped his hand off on his pants.
The unibrow-bearing thug found himself frozen in fear, apparently never seeing a Quirk that could do something like this before. The grey-skinned young man kicked the incapacitated thug down into the dirt with one of his expensive shoes, resting it on his body before turning his attention toward the other two. As frightened as Unibrow seemed to be, Masahiko seemed more interested in Jun. "Fellow freak, huh? Masahiko Masaoka. I know it's a weird name, but it's not my real one anyways. He wasn't sure why he chose to be so upfront about his false identity, maybe he was just riding high from so thoroughly turning the tables on these thugs, even if he mostly did so by getting the drop on one of them. "Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely seems to have worked."

Jun met unibrow's gaze with his cold one and a playful smile on his lips. The man was clearly confident in his superiority courtesy of his impressive physical stature. Though sometimes it was hard for Jun to tell if people were truly tall as everyone appeared so to one as short as he. It meant that those ignorant enough to not account for quirks thought they could bully him into submission and it meant they made the most satisfying expressions when the opposite turned out to be true.
The sudden scream caught both of their attention as the former victim enjoyed a role reversal of his own. "Hmmm, not quite swimming but good enough. Doesn't look too pleasant." He turned again to unibrow. "You think your friend's gonna be alright?" He licked his lips and with that the thug made a break for it. Or at least he tried.
The thug took to the air before being slammed down onto the hard concrete. A writhing, fleshy tendril impaled the man with a bone tipped end. Tracing the tendril's origin revealed it to come from underneath the back of Jun's shirt. "Leaving so soon? What's wrong? You were having such fun just a moment ago." The bone spike dug into his chest, forcing a scream. It was quickly muffled by another tendril hitting his face and spreading as if it were melting across his mouth. "Be quiet. Oh I'd love to savor this but for now..." He looked toward the grey skinned boy who introduced himself as Masahiko Masaoka. "...we simply must have a chat Masaoka-kun."
The young grey skinned man intrigued Jun. While he had previously been content to just let himself take a beating he'd turned around so quickly, inflicting what looked to be terrible pain upon his abuser with such ease, even a hint of enjoyment. He could be a force to be reckoned with, he clearly had it in him. But something held him back. Some absurd notion of morality. Jun wanted to see, if he could squash that notion and in the process, make himself a new friend. One could never have too many tools at one's disposal.
With slow, leisurely steps, Jun walked towards Masaoka and over the tortured thug. In desperation the man attempted to grab Jun's legs but yet more tendrils emerged to pin his arms down to ground. All the while Jun retained his gaze on his new object of interest, studying the young man from head to toe. "Glad I could help. Us freaks must stick together in this unforgiving world after all." He let out a soft chuckle as if he'd just made a joke.
Once close enough, Jun extended a hand. "Do you mind?" He asked, not waiting for an answer as he grabbed hold of Masaoka's hand. Some of the black water remained and out of curiosity Jun brushed a finger over it. "Oh it does sting." He looked towards the poor guy who'd gotten a mouthful of it. "I can just about imagine what that must have felt like."
"But how do you feel like?" Jun locked eyes with Masaoka, devious curiosity shining from his cold blue eyes. "Exhilerated, elated, ecstatic? This is how it should be isn't it? The lesser writhing on the ground before us." As an example he pulled unibrow towards them, forcing him on his knees before Masaoka. Casually, Jun dropped down to sit on his back. "Now isn't this much better suited for someone like him? There's no need for one such as you to suffer the scornful gaze of those inferior to you."

It was an odd, almost dreamlike feeling for Masahiko. Had he really done that? Something so cruel to another human being? He had to glance back down at his work, furrowing his brow at the man writhing under his foot. Just how immense was the pain that Masahiko was putting the guy through? It was done, Masahiko probably wouldn't be able to pull the water from his body even if he wanted to, so there was no saving him. Was he aware that this would be his final fate?
The grey-skinned lad's eyes shot back up as he heard a horrible cracking, squelching sound, finding that the younger man had produced a tendril from his back, having used it to impale the other thug. Masahiko went pale when faced with such violence, sighing as he realized that he had just proven himself no better than what he was now faced with. He looked down at his own hand, still trying to piece things together as Jun took his hand, feeling the effect of Masahiko's Black Water firsthand. His gaze fell back to the thug he had fought back against, no longer writhing.
He sighed, closing his eyes as Jun began asking him how he felt. What Masahiko had just done was awful, a flagrant disregard for human life, even if it was the life of some scumbag. Yet, Jun's words once again managed to reach him. It felt amazing. It was like for the first time in his miserable little life, Masahiko had control. He killed a man, he had snuffed out another human life for threatening him. Maybe such an awful fate was not deserved, but boy, did it make Masahiko feel good. He tilted his head back, grimace cracking into a pleased smile.
"You know just the right words to describe it." Finally, he opened his eyes, gazing up at the night sky for a few moments before turning his attention back to Jun. "You seem to be quite familiar with it, Jun-san. That was the name you gave me, yes?" Masahiko pondered whether or not this may be his real name before concluding that it really didn't matter to him. "If I had to guess, you're one of those Villains the Heroes are always chasing around, aren't you?"
As nice as it felt to have the thug's body under his heel, Masahiko lifted his foot, crossing his arms as he leaned against the alley wall and gave Jun a calm once-over. Honestly, while he was doing his best to keep his cool, the young Minamoto was tense, acting friendly with a murderous stranger. "Or maybe they haven't caught onto you yet, you seem rather inconspicuous. Plus, I'd imagine they wouldn't be too concerned with someone cleaning up the scum lying around on the streets like this."
Masahiko cleared his throat before speaking again. "Pardon, I've neglected to answer your actual question." The grey-skinned man took a short breath, betraying just how uneasy he was. "It is nice to put trash in their place, yes."

Jun flashed Masahiko a warm smile, in direct contrast to the gleeful malice that had painted his expression only moments prior. "Oh, you flatter me and yes, it's Jun. Kurosawa Jun." He placed a finger to his lips and tilted his head in an exaggerated 'thinking' posture. "Hmmm? Now why on earth would someone chase after little old me? Oh right, all the killing." Jun's face slipped back to a colder mask as he studied Masahiko and his mannerisms. He looked somewhat disturbed at the situation which was to be expected. Few were as lacking in empathy as Jun for these things to come naturally. But most could be pushed and prodded towards it, if one knew which buttons to press.
"Nice observation there. Yes, they haven't given me any grief so far. I've been content living out my days in my little slice of the world." Jun put particular emphasis on the word little. "But that can't last. I intend to move up in the world. Of course that will entail some heat which is why I'm always on the lookout for talent." Jun turned his gaze towards the motionless body of Masahiko's first victim, looking upon it as if in admiration.
Jun smiled, genuinely this time, though there was not a hint of warmth to it. "It does feel good doesn't it?" He looked back towards Masahiko. "Congratulations on popping your cherry. First one's always the biggest rush so I suggest you savor it."
Jun stood up from his human sitting stool and, still looking at Masahiko, wrapped a gooey tendril around the man's neck. "Of course that doesn't meant you don't have anything to look forward to." The man began to writhe and contort, scratching at the constricting fleshy arm. "Oh, how presumptuous of me. That is unless this was just a one time thing for you." Unibrow's struggling ceased as blood gushed from between the tendril and his neck. "Or do you wish to see where this road leads?" The tendril withdrew, now sporting bloody claws along its length that slip out of the man's neck. Already lifeless, he fell limp into his own blood. "One thing I can promise you. Is that it leads up."
Normally Jun would have enjoyed the desperate struggling of a dead man, enjoyed the rush of power felt by toying with another's life. But for now his focus was entirely on the newly made killer before him. The display was intended to test Masahiko. To see if he would crack before it or if his newfound taste for blood would have him carry on despite it. Jun saw potential in the boy and a hunger for status that could be exploited if approached properly. He didn't expect to win the grey skinned boy over this very night. But if he could fan the burgeoning flames within him then he might have himself a highly reliable asset in the future. Something that would be exceptionally valuable given the scope of Jun's ambitions.
