Although she is not a master and she has somewhat neglected the craft, she is still competent and can play some standard pieces fairly well. She has trained herself to a level where her reflexes, nimbleness and agility are well beyond that of a normal person. Though she cannot run at top speeds across large distances, the quickness of her movements in combat, acrobatic feats and reaction time should not be underestimated. Imaginary Space Type: Emitter Rank: F Effect: Imaginary Space is an emitter type quirk that allows Maria to produce a darkness like substance as well as to mold and manipulate it. The darkness is composed primarily of dark hues of purple, deep blues and blacks. It is usually covered in small silver dots, making the quirk look like a vivid and colourful interpretation of the night sky. The substance is generated somewhere on the users body and then expands or is launched from there in accordance to the user's will. Though visually almost identical, the quirk can produce two distinct types of darkness. Solid darkness comes in smaller quantities as it is more focused.. It is concentrated and carries with it concussive force. It is most commonly used to launch attacks against opponents, inflicting blunt damage comparable to being struck by a wooden bat. The peculiar affect the quirk has however is that it can distort the senses of those struck by the darkness. Limbs struck will feel numb, reacting a bit slower to outside input, while hits that land closer to the head can cause the quirk to creep into one's field of vision, making it hazy and blurry for a short while, possibly even momentarily blinding the person by replacing their vision with the darkness of the quirk if the hit connects directly with the eyes.. Hearing is also muffled, and the sense of smell is restricted. Particularly precise hits, aided by the concussive force can even upset one's center of balance for a moment. The second type of darkness generated by the quirk is liquid darkness. Unlike solid darkness, liquid darkness does not carry concussive force, nor does it offer any resistance against objects moving trough it. It is created in larger quantities, usually being able to fill out a room and unlike the solid darkness which disperses after collision, liquid darkness lingers, floating in place. Its primary purposes is to conceal the user or or other things in their vicinity. Maria herself can see trough this darkness unhindered. When one enters a cloud of liquid darkness their senses are not affected in the same way as they are with solid darkness, however, seeing things outside the darkness becomes slightly more difficult, blurry, almost as if looking at them trough water. Drawback: : As it is with other quirks, Imaginary Space is an extension of Maria's body, as such using it doesn't come without physical exertion. In Maria's case, besides exhaustion, the drawback of overusing her quirk is that her eyesight gets foggy, with a black mist slowly creeping in around the edges of her vision, the more she overuses her quirk. The other most notable weakness of Imaginary Space is that the darkness once deployed can be dispersed. Wind based quirks, or quirks that can cause explosions and shockwaves are the most effective at getting rid off the substance. Furthermore, while Maria has control over the darkness when creating it, once she has launched it at a specific location, she can no longer control it and its trajectory is set. And finally, when using her quirk Maria has to either pick the liquid darkness to obscure or the concentrated blast of solid darkness that disperses afterwards, she cannot combine both effects into a single instance of her quirk. Finally as Imaginary Space makes Maria's body particularly active at night, she is somewhat nocturnal and in turn not a morning person. |
