The soft feel of shifting the car's gears, all the while she took her time to get to where she was going. It wasn't long until they reached their destination, parking in the hospital underground garage. The small sedan was nothing special, and just a common car, a test of sorts to see if Jess could control her nature, or if she truly would damage everything she entered. As she pulled through the gates, she took an empty spot before unscrewing her knob. The music continued to play, with Jess in control of what to listen to. When it was over, she and Setsuna would both exit the car, his horns scraping the headliner as he got out, while Kasey would duck without an incident. Both of them would look at each other, before giving a nod to open the rear doors to allow their guests to exit. There was a few things to do, though it was up to her what she wanted to. "I'm here to pick up some liquor and other small snacks." she would say. "You may come along with me if you want, or if you want to go off alone you can." She reached into her pocket, taking out two black weighted credit cards. She would pass one over to Jess. If she had been behind the driver, it would have been a smile pass. But if she was on the other side, Kasey would slide it along the top of the car. Afterwards, she would head up the stairs to leave her parking lot, to head into the shopping district. What was to happen, would be up to the girl. Unlike before, Kasey did not wear her fine suit, but instead a cropped hooded jacket. The hood covered her hair as silver strings were before her chest. Black satin gloves on her hands, and purple track pants with a black stripe with the patterns of a galaxy within the fabric. Her own shoes were nothing but simple tabi, an improvement from her usual bare feet. Her waste hidden behind bandages. Setsuna would follow, himself wearing a fine suit, and small jewelry to adorn his horns as his vest. A small veil would be worn atop his head, hiding the appearance, though to anyone that looked, they could tell what was under. But it was a day of choices. The market before them, what would Jess choose? ~ Word Count: 414 ~ |

Gingerly entering the car Jess handed a MP3 auxiliary cord up to Setsuna to plug into the radio, Black Hole Sun had already arranged a playlist of his more acceptable metal choices to be played in their ride. Though admittedly a lot of his stuff was rather old, the sounds of the vehicle were soon twisted into that of a low rumble of a storm and rain drops. Then some drum beats, a pattern that ushered in the squeal of an electric guitar which pumped and built along with the drum before going into a smooth but much faster pace each seemingly alternating and mixing back and forth for a time. After this though it sounded like they were fighting each other before a man's voice could be heard; "Trapped in purgatory A lifeless object, alive Awaiting reprisal Death will be their acquiescence The sky is turning red Return to power draws near Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears Abolish the rules made of stone Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past Betrayed by many, now ornaments dripping above Awaiting the hour of reprisal Your time slips away Raining blood From a lacerated sky Bleeding its horror Creating my structure now I shall reign in blood" After which the sounds would all clash with each other before a storm gave way to the sounds of rain. The Next song that came on was a bit more funky and had some guy talking about a holiday in some south east Asian country and someone named Pol-Pot. Without meaning and wanting to Jess would bob with the music as it went along, her mass was large but not enough to shake the sedan as she did not sway too much ultimately. ' What is so metal about talking about a card game it simply does not make any sense to me Black Hole, Motorhead is a good band but I just think you have to have some darker subject matter than that to call it metal.' Jess thought to her compatriot and summon, the spectral cyclops know simply after a Soundgarden song. The deeper allegory had passed over her the first time upon listing to the song which BHS prompted her to look up. ' Oh I forgot, if it isn't about skinning and eating babies it isn't metal.' Black Hole Sun retorted, not pleased with the genre of Death Metal as a whole. ' That's not what I said and you know it, no even something like Court of the Crimson King is more metal due to subject matter and true, this is simply my opinion but the subject matter is important.' further illustrating their her point lied in the content of the lyrics rather than the instruments used or way that the song was structured itself. ' Eh, I mean I understand what you mean but to me it's more about how fast the drum beat is.' ' Yeah but like you said, you hate Infant Annihilator sooooo.' ' I just don't like hearing about that kind of stuff okay?' ' And that's why I think you're a big ol puss puss, now go away before the car comes to a stop or we will get into trouble with the authorities you dofus.' Jess finished the mental conversation as the Doll vanished from inside the car, from her left in the back row as they were sitting leaving only Jess to remain on that particular bench of the vehicle. As it came to a stop and she stepped out Jess would accept the black card with a huge smile on her face before fidgeting in place and responding, " I will be of sticking near you unless distract" Jess responded her voice jumping around in her excitement. Not to be one to break a theme Jess wore a long black pleated skirt and black stilettos that elevated her to six feet and nine inches in height. Her silver-white hair was put up in a bun which was fixed in place with silver hooks that matched her earrings. Upon her torso she wore a white button up shirt under a black vest that had purple pinstripes though she ruined this whole look as she pulled out a pair of aviator sunglasses with silver rims and exclaimed, " First, to of Crunchy Cereal!" her dominant hand pointing towards the sky as if she were some pirate from a distant past lifetime the two had shared. It wasn't cold, but it was dreary. Summer was approaching, which meant heat, and today the skies were gray, the air light. It was definitely gonna rain, and it was gonna rain hard, though since it was a summer rain, it was probably gonna last for five minutes before disappearing. Barely enough to warrant an umbrella, and that was if you cared about that sort of thing, or didn't expect to be under something.
Oh well.
Michi didn't bother with an umbrella; rain, like many things in this world, didn't matter to her. It would only last five minutes anyway, and even if she did get caught in the rain, she was wearing slacks and a loose shirt; she didn't have to pay as much attention to her appearance as she did in her school uniform. She could afford to get a little wet. In fact, she didn't even bother with her appearance at all; with school not a concern this day, all she did was vaguely try to brush her hair - a daily routine that had almost no effect ever, no matter how many times she tried - and put her clothes in the wash. With that taken care of, she could focus on something else; groceries. The school was gracious enough to provide her with a small refridgerator in her room, without her even asking, which she was actually grateful for. It made making food in her room a lot easier, but it was running low.
Luck was on her side for once, though; today was a sale at the local market, and as she finally walked up to the doors, she heard the very familiar ding dong of the automatic doors opening. She only paused, looking over her shoulder when a black car drove into a parking space, and the only reason that stood out to her was a man with a skull for a face stepping out. An unfortunte quirk? Perhaps, but it was probably more livable than others... it wasn't her place to make a judgement, though; to her, he was neither freak nor normal. It wasn't worth the effort to make an observation; she had no opinion, and wouldn't. She didn't even stare, she just ignored him, the white-haired lady, and a very buff looking girl, though the last one was out of the corner of her eye, not recognizing her from so poor a view, as she entered.
Immediately as she got into the store, the scent of potted plants greeted her, but she ignored it, grabbing a basket; pleasant scents were just as uninteresting to Michi as a skull-faced man, neither were worth the effort to appreciate in any form. Goal already in mind, she went to the back of the store; it wouldn't be the first thing that she put into her basket, but inspecting the fish felt like the first thing to do. She'd take some later, after she got non-refridgerated foods.
Ignoring the chill of the ice, she looked over the meats, skipping over the beef and the chicken - she was tired of both, she wanted something else - to start inspecting the fish.

Things were simple. Simple things were simply put. They came for a few small errands. They weren't people who stocked up on things, they didn't need to. They had a simply for long term foods and other things in case of emergencies. For now, it was about the small luxuries of life. Right now, it was about a few bottles of booze, a small amount to buy, to limit her own addiction. Limiting a few to buy at a time, did slow down her pace, and did inconvenience her enough to ween her issue. The pair walked forward, heading towards the nearest line up of stores. In truth, they didn't have any place in mind, and they were looking to enjoy themselves a bit. "Well, I suppose the market is bound to have what we need." she would say, leading the way to the closest K-Mart. It was convenient, owning it, it did save a bit of money. She could have easily taken what she wanted for free, but in the end, paying upfront, didn't cost any more money. The profit made would end up in her pockets anyways. If anything it would save time, but it wasn't like she was in a rush. "What cereal in mind?""Corporal Crunch. Or or or... Freaky flakes." he chimed in, hoping to influence the decision. As they advanced, they would enter the supermarket and Kasey would grab one of the carts, before Setsuna took it from her. She would walk along to the front of it, sitting on the rim of it as he would push her around. She would look over at Jess. "Technically, I think our quirks are illegal, but seeing as they have sentience, I think we should be fine. Though, I don't think having Black Hole Sun ... talking to people would be a good move, here at least." But, at least for her, Setsuna was able to pass off as a normal person, for the most part. ~ Word Count: 329 ~ |

Tuna was out of the question; it wasn't on sale, and the brands they had were a little high anyway. Mackerel was tempting... it was, and for quite a bit of one, too. Something did catch Michi's eye, though; eel. It was on sale, slightly more expensive than the mackeral, but nevertheless actually kind of tempting; she hadn't had it in quite awhile, and it might prove to be an interesting new texture in her chankonabe....
Ah, wait.
She blinked softly, realizing what she was doing; she was getting ahead of herself. Always get the cold foods last, keep the temperatures cool. She had almost forgotten one of the first lessons of grocery shopping, but thankfully, only almost. She set the food back down, carrying her handheld basket all the way back to the front of the store. At least she knew what to get now, and with the main part of the dish decided, the rest of it would come easily enough, she just needed to get other ingredients.
Moving to the noodle aisle, she took some thinner noodles, believing that they would compliment eel better than thicker ones, and only paused when she saw an odd sight... a tall, bone-faced man, pushing a white-haired girl in a cart. Michi couldn't help but blink at them, her stoicism, for a moment, broken by arguably the strangest sight she had ever seen; the man in particular was odd, though him pushing a woman was almost as much. But, she realized she was starting to stare, and turned back towards the shelves, putting the box of noodles in her basket.

As the girl and her being would run off to shop on their own, Kasey would wander as she saw fit. With Setsuna guiding her, preventing any unneeded collision, they would at least prevent the start of any strange cliché moment of romance. Not to say they were looking for it, but one of them was actively avoiding it. He hated the idea of a supermarket romance, but that may have only been on his mind because of books he had recently read. Their last dance with another figure was one that started in a restaurant, and with someone famed and wealthy. Perhaps that alone meant they weren't using them for money or fame, because they already had it. But what could be said the same of others? They were single for long. They were single? Well, they had each other, and they were just two quarters of the same half seeking completion. Or perhaps they were content in being just a half? He stared off, thinking and pondering the options, only to have the girl snap again to get his attention. "Oi! Did you hear me?""No, sorry Miss Kasey. What was it?""Udon, or vermicelli?" she asked, looking into his face as he looked over everyone else for a moment. He would turn back to her. "Why are you asking? Just get both. If we don't eat it, then the maids can eat it for themselves. It's not like we can't afford it."". . . that's true I suppose." Kasey looked over the options before grabbing a few random choices and tossing them behind her into the cart. "Whatcha thinkin' 'bout bonehead?" she would say, leaning back and reaching to knock onto his skull, the strange hollow sound echoing the short distance around them, almost like a drum. "Please don't do that.""Do what?" she asked, knocking again. ". . . that."~ Word Count: 309 ~ |
