They'd really only invited Yuki because his standing in class was so good-- come join us at the cafe, they said, for a study date. The teen had declined at first, insisting that they were busy after school-- but the girls had called them on their bluff. The girls knew that Yuki wasn't involved in any clubs on-campus, and had seen them bee-lining straight for the train station
Fiiiine.
Yuki had showed up early, bough themself a beverage that was more sugar than coffee and a sandwich, and chosen a table to the side, big enough to host the shifter-child and the three classmates that had sworn they'd be there.
Time wore on, then the arranged meeting-time passed altogether. Five minutes... ten minutes... the sandwich was half-eaten, the drink had condensation forming on its sides as it began to melt.
Yuki pulled out their phone.
Five minutes after that, the first message sent their cellphone skittering on the tabletop.
"Tch," Yuki hissed, snapping their phone shut. Here they were, going out of their way to be helpful, taking time out of their own evening, and those girls had the audacity to stand them up?! What the hell? Whatever...
Yuki tossed their phone onto the tabletop, slouching into their chair. Honestly, knowing those girls... they honestly shouldn't have been that surprised that the girls had flaked. That's how they were, even in school-- flaky.
Yuki drew their drink to their lips, sipping crossly. Well... Yuki could always study on their own. That way the trip to the cafe wasn't a total waste of time. The teen shuffled their materials, pocketing the supplies that they no longer needed (their math homework), and procuring a subject that actually required some work (Japanese Literature).
The teen set their drink aside, spreading the textbook's pages apart with the flat of their hand. A pencil was placed at its peak, keeping the pages splayed open. They then leaned over to dig for their notes.

It had been a interesting day as was an outing usually for Jisa, A mutation like him tended to get a wide range of reactions and stairs from the general public. Anything from scowls or looks of confusion from adults. To strange head tilts and wide eyed gazing from children that saw the fur and rabbit ears and smiled or giggled at him. The list always went on but even still he was getting better at somewhat ignoring it or embracing the kinder reactions. He wanted to be a hero after all and help people in need. He had to learn to deal with the public pleasantly and with a good heart even if the kind feelings weren't always reciprocated from the public.
He set his sacks down with a few odds and ends as he was still trying to get his hero first-aid and radio pack just right. As well as refill it always and anytime it was used in training or any situation. He'd bought a few things, not allot but enough to try out a few new things when he'd get home back at the dorms. Setting the bag down he too would order a sweet beverage and a salad of sorts of his own. Veggies fit for a rabbit mutation!
He walked up to the table that had been over taken by a sea of books mostly. A few tables had people already seated their and seeing a younger person he saw as the best option when it came to likely having to share a table if it didn't cause any issues of course. "Hello, May I sit with you?" He'd say simply enough in a kind smile placing a sack on the table his food not yet done yet. But a warm fuzzy grin and kind greeting to this new meeting person. Maybe a new friend too if he was kind and up beat like he tried to be at least.

lesson, learned A VOICE STIRRED YUKI FROM their thoughts, pulling their attention from the book in front of them. Before them, stood a rabbit. That was really the best way to put it—it was a talking rabbit. The dark haired teen’s eyes momentarily tipped towards a confused orange, an anxious yellow—what the fuck? A rabbit?! Oh, a mutant, probably—a really severe mutation—
“Sure,” the teen said blandly, without returning the smile. They didn’t really want to share the table, but it would be rude to say “no”. Yuki moved their belongings off of the tabletop to the seat beside them, leaving the other half of the table open for the apparent rabbit-person. Yuki slid their textbook closer to their own edge of the table, turning to the place marked by a sheet of graph paper, and began to pour over the textbook, offering very little in the way of conversation.
Upon the page was a number of linear equations, which students were to graph on the x- and y- axes from -3 to 3 in both directions. It was apparent, based-on Yuki’s paper, that they had already started the assignment. Wordlessly they wrote the number of the next equation upon the graph paper, and glanced shrewdly at the book.
Yuki did their best not to stare at the mutant ahead of them, but it was so rare to see someone whose Quirk was so severe. They didn’t even look human. The teen would follow the other person with their eyes as he got settled, unsure of what to make of them. How old were they? Were they a guy or a girl?
By now, the curious, uncertain orange had completely dominated the teen’s eyes, their brow stitching with the unspoken inquiry.

The small boy fuzzy and rabbit like. Looking as if he was straight out of some child's imagination. Or a living size plush as he revealed small rabbit like teeth as he chomped excitingly into a delicious healthy deli like sandwich. The sandwich arriving quickly shortly after he'd found himself seated. His feet not reaching the ground either as he said but smiling like a child and thanking the kind sweet server several times for the delivery as well. As expected those that weren't against quirkers usually seemed to look upon him like most would expected. "So tasty!"
His small rabbit teeth chomped away briefly as he sat it down on a napkin after a few moments and few bits to ease the beginning urges of hunger. Not wanting to chomp it down to fast though and appear rude or ill mannered. He sniffed the air as his strong sniffer couldn't help but smell past the delicious food and also the pleasant must of book pages. The scent that carried a old pleasant musk on the older pages of some and a crisp fresh print still clinging to others as well. It was a sent he always found pleasing when he visited Mr Toby in the library when he was after a good read himself!
"So what ya reading! Anything exciting?" He'd say with soft eyes peeking from his end of the table behind a mound of books. His ears perked up always visible but even if the table was clear he'd look like a 'mostly' ground child almost peeking over the edge as such as well. "Always good to have a good read or company to help the digestion!" He said trying to be friendly. Hoping he'd picked a good table mate for his food consumption and not someone that might be upset with the quirky nature of sorts of the small bunny boy across from them.

lesson, learned YUKI TRIED TO FOCUS ON the textbook in front of them. Let’s see, pg. 157, #1-25 Odds Only... and they were on #15. The dark-haired teen wrote a delicate “1” and then “5” in neat, Arabic numerals upon the page, fitting the two symbols perfectly within the grid. These were then place in parentheses, and Yuki skipped three spaces from the number to begin writing the formula. The teen looked towards the book, gaze tracing down the line of equations.
“Y” equals…
All the while, the rabbit was happily crunching away on his sandwich. He ate slowly, each bite magnified as if he were chewing into a microphone. A product of his mutation? Or did they just have bad manners? Or was Yuki just… that fed-up with people, today?
Their expression grew more pinched.
“Y” equals three-“x” plus…
The thirteen-year-old closed their eyes and sighed.
“I’m so glad,” Yuki intoned.
…equals three-“x” plus two. There.
Having written the equation upon the paper, Yuki began to make a T-chart, carefully following the blue-print lines of the graph paper.
“It’s… my math homework…” the teenager explained, “It’s not that great.”
Their eyes were trained on the paper while they spoke, finishing the most pristine t-chart in the history of t-charts. The chart was populated with numbers ranging from -2 to 2.
Man, this guy couldn’t take a hint! Yuki was clearly trying to study, and he was just trying to make conversation! Didn’t he have eyes?!
Yuki set their mechanical pencil in the peak of the textbook, marking their spot between two pages, and they looked at their table-mate with burnt-orange eyes.
“I was supposed to meet with fr- classmates,” the teen disclosed to their unsuspecting “company”, looking surly at having to make such a confession, “But they canceled-on me after I already got here.”
Yuki glanced down at their book again, the meanness of their features never really dissipating.
“But the food’s alright, I guess.”

The small crunchy bit of lettuce quickly was crushed by his tiny teeth. Briefly when he'd open his mouth would show he had a mixture of human like teeth with rabbit chompers up front. Even his biting pattern seemed to share similar nibbles like one might imagine a hare that was equal to his size might eat as well. He seemed to beating quickly but his bites, mouth, and over all size being as small as he was he still only made most of it eaten like a small child eating off the grownups menu one might say. "Ooooh, Math can always be tricky. I'm okay at it but not great. My math teacher at U.A. is kinda scary too. He's really big and makes sure everyone studies hard... Or else!" He'd say nodding briefly as he thought back to Hisao and his lessons briefly as he enjoyed his lunch. The tasty sauce making him wiggle lightly in his seat and his fur plush somewhat in pleasant energy as well.
He listened carefully as his new friend spoke! His perked ears twitching now and again with the other boy spoke. Seeming to angle different from time to time. Likely like a animal would picking up each sound with natural movement as well as they listened with empowered hearing of a hare human.
"Aww, That's lame, I'm sorry to hear that! It's never any fun when plans get all cerfunkled! But hey at least we can still eat together. Always nice to meet someone new. Normally people don't really like someone with looks like mine to sit near them. So its really cool of you to be so chill my new friend!" He'd say with a small fuzzy grin and a little mustard on the side of his fuzzy lip.

lesson, learned YUKI WATCHED THE UNUSUAL RABBIT-PERSON eat, unable to help but stare. They chewed in small, quick nibbles, like… well… a rabbit. Curiosity overcame politeness, and was starting to overcome their initial hostility.
“Math is easy for me,” the teen said contrarily, setting their pencil down at the crease between the pages, “It’s not like Literature, where everything is ‘open to interpretation’. Can’t stand literature.”
Yuki cleaved-on to certain details that the rabbit-boy made apparent—one, they were a teenager—and two, they were attending to U.A.
“You’re at U.A.?” the teen pressed, “Are you trying to become a hero?”
Although his mom and dad loved to talk-down about people who attended U.A., citing the school as a “government tool to brainwash quirked youth”, Yuki was tentatively interested in the establishment and people who went there.
Particularly as someone in junior high, who would soon need to give thought to where they would attend high school.
As the rabbit-boy remarked that people gave him a wide-berth, the teen quirked a humorless half-smile, huffing in amusement.
“Your mutation is pretty out-there,” he agreed. Yuki could understand why someone would give such a severe quirk a wide berth. Like they weren’t human, or something, “But hey—as a testament to my own character… you got a pencil or a… some other keepsake on you? Something that’s yours, which you carry around a lot? Lemme show you something.”
Yuki would extend a hand across the table, palm upwards, imploring the other teen to surrender something.
Assuming they agreed to it and gave Yuki something, as soon as an item touched Yuki’s palm, the tendrils of his skin would spasm at the introduction of foreign genetic material, coiling tighter upon themselves, shrinking, shrinking, his ears stretched, fur sprouted from his pores.
In-place of the churlish, dark-haired teen, was a fairly convincing doppelganger—he could’ve been mistaken as Jisatsu’s cousin, perhaps. Jisatsu's cousin, but in clothes that were far too big for them.
“See? I'm a mutant too,” faux!Jisatsu declared, their tiny arms lost in the sleeves of Yuki’s coat, “But we're twins, now. Now no one will be the wiser.”

He would munch munch with the crunch of lettuce as he chewed up a bite here and there only speaking and answering between bites not wanting to be rude taking a drink of his soda to clear his throat as well as he enjoyed pleasant conversation with the nice boy he was sharing a table with at present. "That's cool!, Math has always been hard for me. Literature is okay I like stories and reading but I'm not very good at it either. So I kinda get what you mean." In his own way at least did he understand. "It definitely has its own challenges that's for sure." Feeling more comfortable as the conversation went on since a slowly filling stomach and cool drink had a way of lulling him into a more comfortable state. His whiskers and nose wiggling as a sign he was enjoying himself more and more as the moments went on.
He always enjoyed more fresh sandwiches like this. Although he did indulge in allot of fast food as well at times too. His ears perking a bit more as well as the conversation continued forward. Jisa trying to keep up in all the steps of talking not wanting to appear rude and be friendly to his potential new friend! "Yea I am sorta, I want to help in support and be a first responder of sorts! Like first on the scene and help those in danger or who are hurt and get them to the proper facilities sorta. Working along side other first responder services as well." He'd say briefly giving a explanation he liked to give to explain the type of hero he had planned for himself to be and aimed for as well in his training and school work. Even his internships and apprenticeships all helped towards this special goal of his he held dear to his little hare heart.
Jisa would have handed over one of the pens he used often when it came to making new and old lists to keep track of his day to day and the ever listing of improvements he needed to make his first aid and hero costume gear perfect for what he had planned for it to be. Constant adjustments and planning to make it 'perfect'. But when he handed the pen and a few moments later his ears perked super high tensing his eyes wide as if the looks of a rabbit caught in the headlights of a oncoming car even one might say. Taken back in a sudden gasp as well.
It would take him a few moments before he'd finally answer two small fuzzy hands hitting the table in unison. Of course fuzzy as they were the matted fur made the hit muffled to a small tap. "That's so cool!" Was all he let out at first blinking several times unsure what to make of it all. Smiling and eventually giving a small set of claps. "You're amazing dude!" He'd say acting as if they'd been friends for ages now. "Indeed twins!~" He'd snicker at the little idea of the ruse of it all.

lesson, learned IT WAS LIKE WATCHING A RABBIT at the petting zoo, watching the other boy eat. Their mutation was so weird, so extreme… Yuki was glad that most people were too dense to notice that he, too, was a mutant. Only the particularly observant people would make note of the strange criss-cross texture of his skin. And only the inane would ask about it. Still, the youth was still relatively normal-passing. Thank God for small favors.
That said, the teen still loved to show-off. Perhaps some private part of him viewed it as a rebellion-- you weren’t supposed to use your quirk, ever, but using his quirk was the one way that Yuki had some control over his strictly-regimented life.
The other way was stealing.
The teen only half-listened as the rabbit explained his academic strengths and shortcomings, then went-on to describe that, yes, he did want to be a hero-- a first responder. Like… an ambulance driver? Imagine getting into an accident, calling for an ambulance, and being rescued by a stuffed-animal.
Yuki smiled faintly at his own private joke.
The opportunity to show-off, however, quickly derailed any disrespectful thoughts that were simmering in the youth’s mind. His form rippled then contracted, leaving a doppelganger rabbit in Yuki’s seat. It was kind-of freaky, honestly. His ears were in the wrong place, and the presence of fur made everything entirely too warm.
Faux-Jisatsu, felt their own ears with their short little arms, trying to see how high they went. His nose twitched. His tail wiggled.
“God, you’re short,” faux-Jisatsu remarked, “Look how big my clothes are.”
He flailed his arms a little, so that the sleeves waggled limply over his paws. Faux-Jisatsu laughed.
“I can’t even reach my book-- hm-- I wonder if my math knowledge is any better when I’m borrowing your appearance.”
Faux-Jisatsu stood in his chair, to get a better look at the textbook, pushing his sleeves up above his wrists.

It was still quite the spectacle for Jisa to take in. The quirk and display was amazing and left the small boy with a wide eyed gaze like a small child watching some magic show at a birthday party. It made him smile and his whiskers wiggle at the side of his small wiggly hare nose. His fur seeming to take on a plush shine to it it had at times when he was pleased and happy with himself or others around him. It was far more eventful of a little lunch outing then he'd expected or planned for when he at out for the day.
"Yea... I guess normal sized clothes can be a issue. I've been like this all my life so you just kinda get used to. Hard to be weird about being a small guy when you've always been small after all." He'd say with a smile and a light little chuckle as well as a small stubby fingered hand paw held over his mouth briefly as he chuckled sweetly.
"Math knowledge? What all does your quirk do exactly I'm curious how that helps!" He said curiously seemingly enamored as Yuki for the moment was the center of the hare boy's world and bulk of his attention in the present moment. "Do you study allot like this? You must be really smart!" He'd say feeling a little shy curious what all this shifter of forms could learn or know about him given he was at present was him sitting across the table. It was strange but a fun strange that was for sur.

lesson, learned YUKI COULD FEEL THE TUG at the edges of his form—the beginning of it starting to unravel. It was like when you were trying to do a push-up, and the muscles in your arms would tremble from exertion before eventually giving-out. He’d probably only have a little bit longer as Jisatsu.
Not that Yuki wanted to stay as Jisatsu much longer, though. He couldn’t glean much math knowledge from the pen—mostly, Yuki had the urge to scribble hero suits or write in a planner—and he had an inkling of what items Jisatsu needed to pick-up from the grocery store, and when his quizzes were.
How strange and particular, Yuki’s quirk was.
“You don’t use this pen for math, do you?” Yuki asked, looking up from the book. The teen sighed. He really ought to get back to his homework.
“Here,” the shapeshifter insisted, pinching one end of the pin so that the other end pointed at Jisatsu for the taking. As soon as the pen left Yuki’s hand, the form would unravel, and the human-looking original would be left sitting in his place.
“I just turn-into people using stuff that belongs to them,” Yuki mumbled, picking-up their own writing utensil once again. He spun the mechanical pencil in his hands, biting his lip, “Sometimes the stuff I take tells me how to do things that people do with the stuff I take… but… I dunno, I haven’t figured it out, yet. It’s not perfect.”
The shapeshifter paused in his explanation to scribble in his notes, jotting down the beginnings of an equation.
“I’m near the top of my class,” Yuki remarked. He was somewhere in the top ten of his grade, but where precisely he couldn’t remember, “That’s why I was here today. Some classmates said they wanted to study with me. But they ditched me.”
