APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Yuki has a glum, dispassionate demeanor-- they're the kind of kid that sort-of fades into the background if you don't look too closely. Average height, slender build. They’re attractive but by no means noteworthy. Their tendrils make them denser than most, therefore harder to lift than most people their size. If they looked people in the eyes, one would notice the sort-of lava-lamp burbling of colors in their irises, but they mostly look at the ground or around people. They tend to wear a neutral/frowning expression.
It's no wonder that Yuki is rarely in the company of peers. They stick to the periphery, their nose burrowed in a book-- they never engage. They could be at the most exciting concert, and still seem profoundly bored by it.
Even their clothing is unobtrusive-- jeans, hoodies, t-shirts all in darker tones. Nothing flashy. Yuki keeps their clothes clean. Jeans are cut slim, tops are at least two sizes too big. The only unusual aspect of their attire is the presence of fingerless gloves in each ensemble. It's an unusually punk-- or perhaps, sporty-- accessory for such a boring person to have. They also have a medical alert bracelet around their wrists at all times.
Yuki mumbles frequently, much to the chagrin of their parents and teachers. They don't look directly at people, and they wince away from being touched. Their voice is a androgynous high-tenor or low-alto, when it peaks into the audible range, and fraught with big words that they gleaned from all the books they read.
POSITIVE
✔ studious, diligent, level-headed
NEGATIVE
✖ apathetic, cynical, lazy
LIKES
✔ reading, drawing, taking walks, school, and the occasional petty theft
DISLIKES
✖ crowds, loud or unnecessary things, abrasive persons, sports
Personality:
Yuki has always been a serious child-- quiet, unassuming, pragmatic. They were more popular in elementary school, but after their quirk emerged it put a strain on how Yuki interacted with others. So, instead, they turned to books and studying. That said, they are given to wandering, and aren't a total shut-in… it's just that they seem cold and indifferent to most.
Yuki is filled with conflicting traits-- on one hand, they're rather diligent when it comes to their studies, and they are a decent (albeit not the best) student. When it comes to things they don't care about, however, Yuki is outright lazy and disinterested. They will adamantly refuse to engage in things that don't pique their interest, and put forth the minimal amount of effort required.
Their quirk has made them incredibly jaded about people as a whole, and this cynicism is pervasive in much of Yuki's life. Yuki practices a sort of moral absolutism-- everyone should be fair and honest and kind-- and any instances of moral grayness or amorality promptly labels a person as not worth their while.
It leads to a sort of “holier than thou” attitude that really skews any interactions, and colors Yuki’s own self-perception. Goodness is expected, and the norm-- badness is worthy of condemnation. They hold themselves to high standards. Any strength is dismissed as “just how everyone is” and any weakness speaks to some inherent flaw in Yuki’s persons. This has made them a perfectionist, and very rarely satisfied. That said… positive reinforcement really works for Yuki. Heartfelt praise can compel them to put forth significantly more effort into any task.

HISTORY
Yuki's was born to Kiyoko Mizutani when she was only 17. The circumstances surrounding the pregnancy were never made clear to the child, but talked about in hushed tones around them-- some high school boyfriend of Kiyoko's got her pregnant then went off the deep-end, after which he vanished from her life completely.
Despite Yuki's unusual beginnings, their young life was happy. So Yuki never had a desire to know the truth of their father, because their life never felt like it was lacking anything. Yuki stayed at home with their grandparents while Kiyoko attended school. At nights, their mom would come home and, amidst studying, dote upon and love them.
Yuki was a cerebral and unproblematic child, beloved by their grandparents and mother alike. They excelled in school, was involved in numerous extracurriculars throughout the seasons, et cetera.
Their life is humorously normal.
At age five, their quirk emerged-- heralded by drastic weight gain, radical loss of appetite, and an aversion to touch-- their epidermis flakes away to reveal thick tendrils underneath that would writhe and crawl at the slightest hint of foreign genetic information.
Kiyoko, a quirker herself, handled the development of Yuki's quirk with grace, even in the face of the quirk's terrifying emergence. If it hurt Yuki to touch things, they'd get gloves-- they'd follow his physiological growth with routine doctors' visits. Together, Kiyoko would work with Yuki to learn their limitations, she would advocate for accommodations through the school, and do everything to ensure their child had a normal upbringing. Through this shared learning experience, it became apparent that quirk overuse also led to bouts of amnesia on Yuki's part. As such, Yuki began to wear a medical alert bracelet at all times.
When Yuki was seven, their mother married a man named Taiga Tachibana. Taiga was a doctor, and a very responsible and kindhearted man. He adopted Yuki as his own, and in-turn Yuki adopted his last name.
A few years later, Kiyoko and Taiga would have their first child together, a little girl. A set of twins would follow a few years after that, also girls. There was no sense of "mine" and "ours". All the children belonged to Taiga and Kiyoko. All were raised to be the best versions of themselves possible.
As Yuki has now entered into their teenage years, they've begun to rebel. Their Mom and Dad are busy with work, their little sisters with their grandparents, which affords them a certain degree of freedom between their junior high courses and their extracurriculars. They can frequently be seen around town in a sundry of forms and landing themselves in all sorts of trouble. Though Taiga has high hopes of Yuki becoming a doctor like him, and attending the most reputable of schools, U.A. has started to garner the young teen's interest for entirely different matters. Yuki is still in junior high, however, so has time to figure things out.
