Falling onto her rear as she caught her breath, not used to experiencing this level of exhaustion and going full kamikaze without the regulating aspects of her suit to help her channel the output, her breathing a little heavy for a few moments as rapidly forming sweat started to force her bangs to cling to her forehead a little... god she knew she was a third year and she'd be getting less mercy from her teachers and her apprenticeships, but damn she could go for a cold drink right now. She took a deep, slow breath, head tilting back as she tried to get a hold of her fried brain before leaning forward over her knees and looking over the display that was being given to her.
"Y-yeah it's quite a show huh? That's just how it is... I used to just produce small static shocks, and eventually i learned how to not constantly produce it... then the first time I used it in years it was suddenly a draining blast. I still generate a low static charge I need to manage but... well you see what it's like if I even attempt to use it properly..." She let out a defeated chuckle as she rested back on her hands again, rolling her head back. Still, she'd try to be respectful as the exhaustion sank into a more mellow phase, watching the light show of the woman's aura display and trying to take it in. She didn't fully believe in the concept of Aura, but if this woman said she saw it... hey, she saw it, and Yumi didn't mind the nicer parts of what she considered 'anime logic' from how she'd absorbed it growing up existing in the world.
The logic wasn't too bad either, the idea that quirks had a more hectic form of output. They were things no human had inherited muscle memory of so they didn't exactly have any argued 'innate sense' of how to manage the input and output of their quirks. She let out a soft hum of curiosity, wondering what it might be like to view the world through her current mentor's eyes but for now just taking in her displays. She was a little... nervous still, about the idea of taking things back a notch on her quirk. The issue was always that no matter how hard she tried, without her suit to help her her output was always... just stuck at the maximum. Still. She owed it to her mentor to at least try given she'd went through all this effort to help her so specifically. With a light groan, she pushed back to her feat, wobbling briefly before managing to hold her own stance.
"Right... yeah. I think I can... I can try this." She gave a swift nod and took another slow breath. She still felt aching sensations all over her body, looking back to her mentor. She tried to visualize her aura as the woman saw it.. hectic like electricity. All Yumi ever focused on when activating her quirk was all or nothing. She either fired it off full blast, or tried to fully restrain and refine it. Maybe thats why it looked so hectic? She either burst it all out, or she tried to contain it, and it wasn't meant to be contained. Like her suit she needed to refne those harsh spikes, turn it into a gentle curve....
It wasn't going to be an instant process but... she was willing to try.~
"Mind taking a few steps back again?" She'd ask cautiously, waiting for the woman to back up. She took another slow breath, raising her hand up again. Her sparks began to fire off in all directions but it was definitely more contained. Unlike before none of them went beyond the circle of lightning rods around her. Yumi's face held a slightly pained expression, but she kept her arm straight. She fired off another blast, a stream of electricity arcing through the air. The shot would have clearly missed if the rod wasn't metal and attracting it, but she at least managed to hit it at all this time, Yumi hissing as she fell back onto her ass as the quirk came to a stop, panting heavier than last time, but smiling through the sweat.
"That.... t-that was a LITTLE better... right...?~"
