The trip from the UA Dorms to the Heart of Tokyo was always something of an affair. It took a little time and the scenery change from the far more suburban Musustafu to Tokyo was breathtaking to say the least. There was a certain appreciation some had for the gradual shift in architecture from suburban to urban. Though that might just be Sonya's personal tastes. Whatever the case; that was only the beginning of the experience for the three young Support students that had managed to land themselves an internship with the Corporation slowly inching its tendrils into just about every part of daily life. From smartphones to silk dresses to lip stick and body armor. ASTA Corporation had set itself apart as an industry giant with one focus; to improve the lives of citizens, quirker or not.
So it was that via the transport given them by UA, the students arrived at ASTA Corporate Headquarters. Their mentor for the internship had insisted on not showing favoritism for their arrival; they'd have to find their own way. Instead they found themselves at the main concourse outside; a green yard dotted with benches and stone statues. The lush garden of flowers that framed a few of the narrow pathways branching off gave the image of a place to think and rest. The building itself was tall and slender; black steel, stone, and glass giving it an obsidian look. The doors at the main entrance were made of some manner of reinforced glass; they had an odd off-yellow coloration to them that made them appear like they were made of amber. Employees came and went, showing their badges to a mechanical eye on a stalk that tilted and swayed to get a proper angle before urging them on.
Everyone looked so... happy.
The three young students would be greeted at the door by the eye-stalk that took one look at them before opening the doors and letting them through. Inside the annex was basically one enormous lounge; couches, tables and the trappings of comfort surrounded them. Screens above their heads played clips of fashion shows, cosmetics commercials, Pro-Hero endorsements of products and even a demonstration reel of a new weapons system being developed for the Japanese Government. Before them, a elegant brown-and-black desk stood waiting in front of a hallway of elevators that stretched out behind. The woman there stepped around and bowed smoothly, her pretty face obscured by her hair; "Welcome to ASTA Corporate Headquarters, I'm sure you are all eager to meet with Lady Chernova. You'll find her in the twelfth-floor lab; she is overseeing a support item test," The woman said before standing up straight and reaching for something on the desk. "Your badges are ready, you may scan them at the elevator and gain entry, I'm certain Lady Chernova will have more details for you, Thank you so much for joining with us today!" She enthused before urging them on.
Their final stop after a cozy elevator ride was the twelfth-floor labs. People in labcoats rushed this way and that, chattering excitedly. Most of them bee-lining toward a series of windows that lined a wall on the right. Through the glass, one could watch the show-or rather, one could see the shooting range. Standing at one end closest to those viewing stood Sonya herself; clad in black dress pants and a white shirt, a black tie hanging a little off kilter. She had rolled up her sleeves and was standing with one hand on her hip and the other clad in what appeared to be some kind of glove. Her silver hair was pulled back in a severe bun. She rolled her neck and dropped into something resembling a fighting stance; raising her gloved hand in a fist in front of her face. Her voice crackled over an intercom above the onlooker's heads; "Attempt three! Live fire! Activating gauntlet! Open up!" She ordered, clenching her fist tight as something flickered in the air between her and...a hailstorm of bullets. They pinged against something invisible, clattering to the ground or ricocheting off the ceiling, one even tumbled into the glass leaving not but a small scratch.
The firing stopped, but Sonya was still standing. She let out a whoop of excitement and raised her gloved fist. "Success! Test complete! Get me a mass production design pronto! I want a few test models for the Tokyo PD by the holidays!" She said, taking the glove off and giving a thumbs up to the crowd of researchers. They let out a cheer, high-fives going around before they dispersed. She marched to the door out of the chamber and pulled her hair out of the bun, shaking it out before laying eyes on the trio. "Heavens above! You're here!" She cried delightedly, hastening forward. "So glad the three of you came!" She enthused, nodding to each in turn. She lingered on Haruuhi; "Good to see you again, Haruuhi, right?" She looked at the other two; "And that makes the two of you Charlotte and Jisatsu! Welcome to the Support Gear Lab!" She beamed. | TAG WORDS NOTES

cool as the eternal flame, baby The prawn had pressed her U.A. uniform— if that wasn’t enough of an indicator of nerves, her profound silence, wringing hands, and stubbornly-lowered gaze plainly communicated the fact. Her mind was a soup of Imposter Syndrome, Anxiety, and overall the Desire to Do Well.
The building loomed over her like a scintillating monolith built in honor of human accomplishment—there was the robotic eye, minimalist furnishings, inhumanly pretty secretaries. It all whirled around Charlotte like some sort of futuristic fever dream. She scarcely remembered to bow and thank the woman at the front desk before shakily retrieving her badge—and even then, Charlotte nearly grabbed Haruuhi’s badge instead. The trio was swept into the elevator.
“I hope we don’t get lost,” the prawn murmured quietly. A small part of her sincerely hoped they did, though—maybe they’d see some cool tech.
The lab was easy enough to find. Courtesy of the woman’s brief visit to U.A., the prawn recognized her immediately. She stood clad in simple business-casual, and a rather impressive-looking glove.
A tech demonstration.
Something familiar.
The prawn snapped to attention, intrigued. She watched, rapt, through the entire test. Her pupils, which had constricted to nervous slits throughout the entire approach, widened with excitement.
And then… like that, it was over. The Queen of the Corporation gave her order, the researchers dispersed, and she disembarked from the demo area. A spill of silvery hair was freed from its bun. Charlotte’s heart stuttered. Whoa.
As Chernova made her introductions, the prawn nervously adjusted the black surgical mask that concealed her mouth. She correctly made note of each student’s identity, but introductions were still in-order. Right? How did she already know Haruuhi? Maybe Haruuhi introduced herself during the tour. Aaahhh, Charlotte should’ve done that too, but it felt weird. And shit—handshake, or bow?—“Sonya Chernova” was clearly not a Japanese name, but like… Charlotte was too timid to offer her hand. Shit, shit, shit.
The prawn settled on a bow at the waist.
“Fujioka Charlotte, yes,” the young woman insisted, remaining bowed, “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for taking us under your wing.”
Uuuggghhh, it felt like her heart was trying to escape out through her throat. Charlotte rose to her full height again—Mom had told her not to slouch. Need to make a good first impression, and all that, as an apprentice.
“The lab—uh—your lab is really… cool, Chernova-san,” Charlotte offered. Even if they’d only seen the demonstration. There was definitely, likely, to be more to see. The prawn was easily impressed, though, and still running on raw nerves, so she offered her accolades.

It was nice to see two of his friends doing the outing with him. It made it a little easier to work up the spirit and energy within when a friendly as well as familiar face or two was nearby. He'd had some intern and other such similar things with Nimue as well. Training and preparations for hero work as well. So he wasn't completely going in blind at all angles of such things. But of course Asta and Sonya was a completely different cup of tea then Nimue. Everything from her business to her herself was heavily intimidating and allot to take in for the small bunny boy at times.
The display and all that came leading up to the greeting was breathtaking as well. Jisa's tech skills didn't really go much further then learning how to use what gear he added to his suit. But he was always eager to learn of new gadgets and tech that might help one in the field of rescue and first responder places in such actions as well. New gadgets or innovations could always save more lives after all if used right and with a keen mind.
He remained close to his fellow students as best he could though still with nerves building up in his gut and settling there like a heavy stone. But still he tried to keep himself upbeat and happy a smile kept to his lips as best as he could as he clapped for the presentation and his tail even giving a light wiggle of sorts when they finally got to talk to their benefactor.
"That was amazing! Thanks for having me here! Jisatsu, third year support class student reporting for duty!" He'd say with some gusto trying to appear like a energetic go getter. Giving a warm smile as he made his greeting and himself known.

'It's time, it's time, it's time, it's time!!' The girl thought to herself excitedly as she nearly started prancing up to the building. She had the goofiest smile plastered on her face as she walked along with Jisatsu and Charlotte towards the lab. It was no mystery that Haruuhi was excited, as even Gadian, her robotic dog, had a pep in his step as he trailed along next to her.
"Isn't this exciting?" She asked the pair for the upteenth time as they walked up to the entrance. Her eyes grew wide as a long "woaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" escaped her lips as she looked at... a pretty ordinary looking building. What really impressed her though wasn't the building itself, but rather everything her quirk could touch right there at the entrance! Security cameras, access pads, outdoor sprinkler systems, wifi, you name it. Haruuhi could feel it!
"Lets go!" She basically ran into the building full tilt, skidding to a stop in front of the reception desk with that same eager look to her face. Unlike Charlie who was being overly formal, Haruuhi was bounding on the tips of her toes.
"Haruuhi Hajimari! Nice to meet you miss! so where do we go? this place is huuuuuge" She said excitedly still, her quirk reaching out further and further into places she no doubt should not be. She was being careful at least to not let it hack into anything, only to sense the other technology and signals around her.
The woman seemed pretty bewildered at the assortment of students in front of her, but having been informed of their arrival was pretty prompt in giving them all their temporary keycards. She would then give them instructions on where to go and sent them on their way.
As the four of them then made their way to the elevator and waited to arrive at the floor they needed to be on, Haruuhi couldn't help but fidget with the straps to her backpack. She'd brought all kinds of things to show miss Sonya, and couldn't wait for this long elevator ride to be over! That's when Charlie expressed concerns about getting lost, and Haruuhi placed her hand reassuringly onto the girls arm to get her attention.
"Don't worry about that. I got it memorized, for the most part." She assured her classmate as the familiar ping of the elevator doors opening had Haruuhi move her hand away from Charlie and back to the straps of her backpack.
Zoooooom.
Haruuhi nearly ran the rest of the way to the range, watching as Sonya would set up and test out what looked like a gauntlet. She could sense the radiowaves being emitted from it and just chuckled softly. She had something similar in her backpack, though her's actually needed her quirk to be useful and didn't generate it's own force, like sonya's seemed to do.
She managed to contain her excitement until the point that Sonya herself finally showed up. She literally skipped over to Sonya and gave her a big hug before taking a step back to where Gadian was sitting as patiently as he could.
"Thank you for having us Sonya-san!! This place is great! you've got soooo much stuff going on here! I can't wait to get started!" She stated with a toothy grin to their newest teacher. She barely even noticed how awkward Charlotte must have been feeling. At least Jisatsu seemed to visibly share her excitement on all of this.

The laboratory itself was a sprawling complex that covered the entire floor of the enormous office building. With white walls and floors giving it a futuristic and sleek aesthetic; the employees milled this way and that; casual clothing beneath their finely pressed labcoats. Sonya put her left hand on her hip, tilting her head a little and letting her hair spill a little more as her off-blue eyes glowed brightly. Mechanical lenses inside of the orbs implanted in her skull spun to adjust to variances in light levels as she examined each of their faces. Charlotte was amusingly polite and hesitated in kind of a cute way. A few of the researchers walked by and gave Charlotte passing glances, likely hoping for a moment with the prawn to see if they could be the first to design something for her.
Sonya inclined her head as well; casting a dazzling smile Charlotte's way; "You are most welcome here, Charlotte, you can call me Sonya if you like. We're co-workers now, aren't we?" She said and let out a small laugh; "You haven't even seen the best part yet! Thank you though, the researchers here put their heart and souls into making this one of the prominent facilities for studying quirks and developing technology to work alongside them," She said, holding up the gauntlet. "This, on the other hand, is one of our first attempts at replicating the effects of a quirk in a device that can be used by law enforcement personnel."
The next was Jisatsu, he was shorter than the other two and did not stand out as much, but what he lacked in presence he made up for in the gleam of a keen mind in his eyes. He seemed to have the gusto to get right into the exciting stuff, that was good. Sonya had no intention of wasting his time, "Wasn't it? The project is actually being headed by Nakamura-san and Toshio-san over there," She said, gesturing to a male with a prominent lion mutation wearing glasses. Next to him was a young woman who's eyes appeared to be faceted like an insects. She was reviewing something on a tablet with him but looked up long enough to wave.
"Busy bees," She chuckled and gasped as Haruuhi caught her in a hug. She laughed and patted the girl on the back, returning the hug with a squeeze of her own. "Oh my goodness! It's wonderful to see you again dear, I have to say the first time I met you in that park was what inspired me to even consider an internship program with UA. So I have you and your enthusiasm to thank for all this," She said, releasing her and gesturing down the hall. "I hope you all are ready, we're going to hop in hard and you're going to meet a lot of very interesting people on your first day. Take notes, keep an open mind, and remember that a lot of what we do here in these labs not only produce equipment for Pro Heroes but also hardware for the military," She paused and took a deep breath.
"This facility contains military-grade hardware," She warned, holding up a finger and looking each of them in the eye. "So remember that coming in here means I am trusting you," She added, and swept on her heel, her stilettos clicking down the hall as she walked.
"On your right of course is the shooting range, weapons and defensive hardware are tested there. The chemical structure of the glass is actually based on the glass produced by a quirker in the fashion department. Her glass is so clear and hard that it's very close to diamond, she agreed to let us study it and we've been able to chemically replicate it... to a degree," She began, moving toward the next set of doors on the left. "This is the Project Assessment department, behind these doors are the initial theorycrafting stages and discussion rooms concerning upcoming projects. Orders from Pro-Heroes arrive here first to be considered," She kept walking and pointed to the next set of doors; "Fabrication is home to some of our most advanced and precise robots and three-dimensional printing apparatuses. It's thanks to them that we can make prototype after prototype rapidly in order to test and retest permutations of a design," She concluded, walking down toward the final door in the short hallway.
This door was wide and had room enough for almost four people to enter side by side.
"This is the main lab. There are twelve sub-laboratories inside each of them headed by a different project head at any one time, you'll see more once we go inside. Now!"
She took a breath; "I'm sure you have a million questions, and I promise we'll get to them all, but first I have a question for you... 'why do you do what you do?'. By that I mean, what motivated you to push beyond your limits and become the incredible people I see before me to day? Why did you come to ASTA? What are you looking to learn?" She asked, hands on her hips. | TAG WORDS NOTES

cool as the eternal flame, baby THE RESEARCHERS WERE LOOKING AT HER. Sonya Chernova was looking at her. Why were people looking at her? God this was the worst. At least Sonya smiled.
“I... respectfully, Chernova-san suits me just fine,” the prawn said politely, her voice a little breathless. Imagine your teacher—no, your boss, telling you to call them by their first name! No way. No, no, no. She tried to quirk a smile but, well, the surgical mask hid that altogether.
The mention of quirk-augmenting tech, however, certainly got the prawn’s attention. It was a much more comfortable topic of conversation than, say, what names to call one another. Charlotte’s lavender gaze followed the departing researchers. Oooohhhh she wanted to see their lab so badly.
Would it be weird to hide behind Jisatsu? The bunny-boy was easily half the girl’s height, but even so, the prawn was tempted to tuck herself behind him. With hall his vim and vigor, the prawn felt infinitely smaller than him. Haruuhi was equally enthused, navigating the establishment with uncanny confidence. O-oh okay then. And then… there she was, Sonya Chernova, head of ASTA Corp., in the flesh. Wow.
And then Haruuhi just hugged her. Just like that. The prawn’s heavy brow leapt in alarm. Hugging a CEO?! Wh-what the- huh?!
Unable to mute the look of surprise that flitted across her features, the prawn dipped her gaze towards the floor and left it there. At least in Japan, averting your gaze was a sign of respect. There Charlie could safely attempt to process everything that was bumbling around in her brain.
The prawn fussed with her hands. She… hadn’t brought anything to take notes on, so hopefully Sonya’s suggestion that they “take notes” was… not literal.
The prawn fell-in at the back of the pack as Sonya began to lead them through the various departments. The shooting range… Project Assessment… Fabrication… the Main Lab… With each new threshold crossed, the prawn’s gaze found itself looking more and more confidently to the surroundings, and by the end of it, her wonderment had returned.
She was so star-struck, she didn’t even have the words for her one-million questions, though she was certain that they existed somewhere.
Sonya again brought the focus to them, begging the obvious question—why do you do what you do? The prawn itched at her muzzle through her surgical mask with one, pensive index finger. Her mouth felt dry. And though she had a water bottle, she was too on-edge to grab it.
“There is a lot I do differently because of my quirk,” the prawn explained, blurting a response before she’d even fully-formulated it, “Eating. Breathing. Going from one place to another. I have adapted, thanks to the people who care for me. But… it was never easy. So… I’d like to make tech… that makes it easier… for people like me to exist.”
Was that too political a statement for a first meeting? Or too pathetic? Just, “Hi yeah, my life is hard because I’m a mutant, so I want tech to make it easier”? What a selfish thing to say…
Charlotte rubbed the back of her head, feeling a simmering embarrassment in her throat.
“ASTA specializes in the kind of tech I, uh, am interested in… so it… made sense, I think,” she concluded.

It was all heavily intimidating as they moved forward on the tour and seeing the facilities Sonya had at her disposal and her labs. He couldn't help but release a audible gulp as he struggled to swallow. A rough sensation starting in his throat and settling in his stomach like a rock as his nerves felt tested leaving him with a somewhat nervous and anxious sensation taking over briefly. He fell silent keeping his eyes peeled unsure what to think of it all around him. Glad he was with his fellow students two that he trusted and considered friends. otherwise he may have had a struggle with his nerves as his hare heart raced quickly from nerves much like a hares heart would have done normally.
"This is quite impressive." Was what he eventually forced out falling a little behind the group in a step or two as twittered his thumbs together looking around but clearly a bit intimidated and perhaps out of his element one might say. A nervous look like a scared bunny but also wide eyed in curious wowzer amazement as he looked at all the things around them. Trying to mentally digest it all so to speak one might say.
