You don't need a dream or even a tomorrow Just live
"It has been some time since I last saw you, hasn't it?"It was his first time at the hospital since he came back to Tokyo. The first time in that room. The first time seeing her. She was still as beautiful, yet still as weak. She was a dying flower, a hidden sun - she had been like that for some years now. "I'm sorry about that. I had... things to take care of. But I won't go anywhere again, I promise."He held her cold hand, so frail that it almost felt like touching a lifeless body. Sometimes it was hard to think that his sister wasn't dead yet. Would that be better? Was that final sleep what she needed after so much time of fighting that hopeless battle? "Much has happened. A lot, really. It's been tough without you..." - he held her hand a little stronger - "I left Yuuei. Wasn't for me, but you probably already knew that. Spent some months in South Korea and it was good, allowed me to grow up a bit and put some thoughts in their place. I got a job now, too. Igarashi Ryuusei, government worker... Has a ring to it, right? That's why I'm in a suit right now, actually." - he laughed - "It pays well. Being smart and having excellent grades ended up being useful... I even live by myself now. Got a small apartment in this area, close to work and to you. I still spend the weekends with the parents back at home though, you know how they are, would miss me too much otherwise." - he paused for some brief seconds - "I see that they're coming here more often."
He looked at the table next to Yasu's bed. Fresh yellow flowers where in a little vase with water. Ryuusei recognized the flowers - they're the ones that their mother grows in the garden. He smiled. "That makes me happy"He let go of her hand and crossed his arms against his chest. "There's also something else. Uhm, well, I'm a-"The door of the room opened. "Igarashi-san, I'm sorry, but it's time to clean the rooms... Would you mind stepping outside for a little bit? It won't take long.""Oh. Sure. Don't worry, take your time, I was about leave anyway. Lunchbreak's almost over. Thank you."He got up from his and leaned towards his older sister, kissing her on the forehead. "See you tomorrow."Later that day... "Okay, so let's see...", he murmured to himself while sitting on his couch, looking at the map that was layed out in front of him and on top of the small table in that living room. He was looking for areas of interest to investigate. Ryuusei didn't have much interest in common Vigilantism - protecting the streets from small crimes were heroics that he couldn't bother with. Besides, the other Vigilantes were already taking care of such, so one more wasn't needed. Ryuu's goal was going straight for the big fishes. He was still to hear from the man that got him into all of this so, in the meantime, he thought he could very well try his luck and see if he could get some clue into something major: one never knows what connecting seemingly unrelated dots might lead to... WIth a red pen, he circled some locations, crossed others. Eventually, he got a final list. From that, he chose the first one to inspect. "The old mines it is.", he told himself. It was about to be nightime in Japan and Ryuusei was opening his closet. He wasn't going to leave the apartment: Zero was. Notes: Build-up!Words: 605.Tags: Jasmine Noir

As the sun hid behind the horizon, so did the wolves come out to play. Standing atop the old abandoned building, Jasmine closed her eyes and calmly collected her own thoughts. Her chest heaved up and down as she breathed in and out. In. Then out. Dark clouds floated above, shadowing the ashen wolf from the light of the moon in the sky. The lass was standing right in front of a massive hole in the roof, peering down at the darkness below. Her ears perked up when she heard movement - a whiz and a whirl and the click of a chamber.
Smiling to herself, the hero in training simply tipped herself forward, gathering momentum as gravity took hold of her. She darted down almost like a bullet as the dark surroundings of the mine seemingly buzzed to life. Metal clung as the drones she'd gotten from one of her juniors flew by, raising old and damp paperwork into the air upon their approach. Click, clack, boom. Jasmine twisted in mid air as best she could upon her descent, avoiding the set of projectiles sent her way by a duet of mechanized fliers.
Gritting her teeth, Jasmine landed onto the ground and pushed herself to keep moving, rolling forward to keep herself away from injury. Hands and feet planted onto the ground mid-motion, she launched herself forward, narrowly avoiding more projectiles impaling the ground where she once was. Reaching forward, the ashen-haired lass grasped a stray railing and whipped her whole body forward like a nimble monkey, continuing her stride. Her head careening to the side of her shoulder as she planted herself against a nearby wall, a sharp emerald gaze quickly scanned the immediate vicinity. Two drones were circling her around the many columns holding the complex upright, one on the floor above zooming on on her from a crack in the ceiling, and one below a wooden walkway in the clearing. She smiled; her junior programmed these well.
Growling, the wild wolf launched herself from the wall, narrowly avoiding the killbox as she slipped through the air like a bullet. Using all sorts of objects to make herself seem as erratic as possible, Jasmine darted around the complex, using every desk, every chair, every column, every wall, and every other kind of object to keep herself mobile. Stopping meant getting hit and the objective of this training exercise was to not get hit. She was trying to do her best to not use her quirk - with the assistance of Eruption, this would be a cinch. But that wasn't the goal here. The goal was to improve her movement without the use of her quirk. More would follow after she mastered aerial movement.
Jasmine considered herself lucky; there were a lot of ways that she could train but most of them were seen as illegal... or, well, legal, just needing approval from her teachers. Approval she knew she wouldn't get considering how stuck up and rigid most of them were. When she found out that Red Horn's dad worked with construction, it was only a matter of asking her to set her up with some work. She joined a couple of projects, earned a buck through her brawn... and then asked if there were any demolition sites she could 'work on' off the grid. Mia's dad caught on fairly quickly, as was expected, and before she knew it Jasmine was texted the location of an abandoned mining complex near the harbor where she could go absolutely wild without worrying about people being present. She sure as shit was going to oblige.
It was because of this particular training location that Jasmine had asked her junior to make these drones for her. Armed with airsoft pellets and all sorts of other shit that could actually hurt, they were as fast - if not faster - as Jasmine herself was and they were proving to be particularly effective in this game of cat and mouse... especially when she realized that the sixth drone of the bunch was actually hiding and waiting to ambush her.
Her emerald greens went wide as saucers when the sixth machination appeared right in front of her... right as the five others circled her like lions about to pounce on a gazelle. Orange sparks crackled in between her fingers as Jasmine thrust her hands into the ground, unleashing a large explosion that caused the floor to cave into the basement, raising dust and debris all around. She grit her teeth as she tried to correct her posture mid-air... but the drones were right on her. She could barely see anything besides the beeping red of the droids in between all the dust and debris... the drones, though? Oh, the drones apparently had heat-seeking vision.
She grinned.
This is fucking awesome.

You don't need a dream or even a tomorrow Just live
One week ago...He had just got the keys for the apartment he had rented. No one knew it about except for his parents; he hadn't told anyone about it. And yet...
"Uh?"A small paper note in the ground, just in front of the now opened front door. Ryuusei crouched. picked it up and stood back straight. He read it. "Welcome back.", it said. That man... He had found him, he had all the information about what had happened in the past, he transfered all that money to Ryuusei so that he could move to South Korea with no questions asked, he instructed him to come back six months after and become a Vigilante for unknown reasons and now, despite logic not supporting it, he already knew exactly where he lived? "Fuck", he let out the word of frustration between his teeth as he closed the door and walked into the apartment. He got to the couch. There he had a gift. A set of clothes. They were dark, somewhat heavy while at the same time feeling light... It was hard to explain, but it felt like it was something designed as a Pro Hero Outfit rather than as simple stylish clothing. They were neatly folded. Above them there was a belt and, in it, a set of ten throwing knives, all of them custom made and not simply ones that could be bought at stores. Then, next to this, was a military knife that Ryuusei knew very well: the one he received from Tanaka and had been using ever since Semper Fi. To top all of this off, next to the neat pile of clothing and weaponery was a full face mask. It was modern and made with high-tech components, black on the back and sides while white on the front, red lights coming from the hearing zones. Despite being opaque to the ones looking at it, the user could see as clearly as if he wasn't even wearing it. It seemed like the mask in itself could potentially do much, but right now its sole purpose was to hide the identity of its user, especially with the voice modifier that made Ryuu's words riddled with static and distortions yet still understandable. After trying the mask out, he placed it back down. It was there that he found yet another note. "Once you wear this equipment, you shall be known as Zero. I expect full dedication, Igarashi Ryuusei. Don't forget: I know everything.
N." "N... Who are you?"In the present moment...He had arrived just when the floor caved in. He was on top of a small pillar that stayed just outside the range of the explosion and the time between his arrival and the event was short, but he was still able to get some data: defense droids, six of them; a Quirker, the root of the devastation; a battle.
"Ugh, I hate powerhouses", he complained to himself as he analyzed in his head the situation.
There was no immediate plausible reason for someone to be there, for drones to be there. So the most quick assumption was that his feeling could be right and this was, indeed, a villain hideout. It would explain the drones, making them the first means of protection against Heroes and Vigilantes. Which meant that, if someone was attacking said drones, then they were probably either a Hero or Vigilante that had gone there based on the same reasons as Ryuusei himself. Which meant... "I'll side with Explosion Person for now", he concluded to himself. Even if his thought process was completly wrong, it was still the safest thing to do: he would be hurting drones, so no actual person would suffer if he had made the wrong judgement; if the Quirker was actually evil, Ryuusei would be helping them from the get go so it would be easy to pretend to be a villain too in order to first get information and then act upon it. From the smoke of the debris, he saw three red dots moving into position. It was the signal to move. "Got them." In a single movement, he threw with precision and power three throwing knives at the three red dots - the three drones he managed to locate. He knew the explosion had been powerful, so all of them would be weaker. The knives would finish the job. He was right - three explosions were heard, three drones were now out of comission. He would leave the other three for the Quirker while he stayed watching from above in the pilar. Not knowing the other person's personality lead him to such decision: Zero wanted his presence to be known as a helping one, but he didn't want to risk killing all the drones and then dealing with some power-hungry person complaining about how he disrupted all the fun. Jumping int othe midst of things could also be seen as more threatning than just remaining in the distance. In a way, his caution was spot on. Notes: Zero arrives!Tags: Jasmine Noir

Panting up a storm as she swerved through the air, Jasmine felt her muscles burn as adrenaline coursed through her veins. Her instincts and battle sense went into overdrive as she dove down into the basement below, her body twisting in the air, entering a spinning motion in an attempt to dodge any pellets coming her way. Her spin had come to a quick halt as she managed to land square on her feet, knees bending to reduce any incoming damage set in stone by gravity. Acting quick, she launched herself forward again, bobbing and weaving in her stride as the projectiles just kept coming, painting the floor a many different set of colors.
She'd hopped over a stray pillar that had been knocked out of place and made impact with the ground seconds ago, raising more dust into the air. Quickly ducking and gluing herself to the murky construct, Jasmine gave herself the briefest of moments to catch her breath and collect her thoughts. Considering how quick these drones were she knew she didn't have much time to come up with a plan of action yet her mind tried to work one out anyway, her experience playing a key role in how she begun devising the next series of maneuvers she'd attempt. Yet something had gone amiss, she quickly realized.
The drones were taking an oddly long time to reach her. The computer-remote mounted on her wristband suddenly vibrated so hard she'd felt it in her bone, forcing Jasmine's attention from the battlefield. Two buzzes. That meant they had picked up an extra target. Before she realized what even happened, three simultaneous explosions lit the area around the ashen wolf ablaze, a gloriously bright haze of crimson heat making the lass wince and duck back down in an attempt to cover her sensitive red orbs.
Adrenaline had once again shot skyward; was she being attacked? Every single inch of her body screamed at her and she, not one to deny her gut, listened. Quickly darting into the shadows, Jasmine stayed as low and quiet as possible within the smoke and debris, cloaking herself within the unnatural wall of penetrable cover that she had unwittingly created. She'd quietly sneaked behind yet another supporting pillar, standing up straight and gluing her back to the fat construct at her back. Through one singular glance over her shoulder Jasmine realized she wouldn't be seeing anything anytime soon... when it finally hit her.
Thank Christ for this faulty targeting system, the wolf mused inwardly. The drones' AI, while speedy, quick, smart and even adaptive, really only had the necessary memory to be able to come up with counter-measures for one target alone. When you add another unidentified object to their scope of procedures everything suddenly goes awry and they freeze up, as was seen by how they helplessly floated in the air, system error after system error making them unable to act against neither Jasmine nor whoever it was that had decided to crash her little party.
She had no idea who it was, but she had every intention of figuring it out. Raising her hand, Jasmine's sharp gaze drifted towards the small screen as she took over manual control of the drones. Even through the ever rising smoke that seemingly never cleared, Jasmine was able to pin-point the location of her mystery man fairly quickly courtesy of motion trackers and infrared. He was up above, atop one of the pillars just outside her own blast radius.
They quickly advanced and began to circle him, still somewhat of a safe distance away to not too easily reveal too much about what heat they were packing... which was actually none at all, to be perfectly honest with you. "I don't know who you are bucko, but you sure got some balls on you, busting up my drones like that. Get down here before I have these drones here light your ass up," she bluffed aloud, well aware that these drones didn't have anything other than paint balls for ammunition. Yet she was also aware she couldn't be too careful. Training in the middle of the night, out in the middle of nowhere? Yeah, some guy showing up out of the blue and destroying three high-speed drones like they were nothing -- even if they had been preoccupied with the wolf herself -- wasn't exactly a feat she could consider easy by any stretch of the word.
Aw man, all I wanted was to train, she thought to herself through a quiet sigh. Life never went they way she wanted it to, did it?

It didn't take long for the remaining three drones to rise from the smoke, flying in the direction of the dark sky and stopping right where Ryuusei - here Zero - was standing, circling the Vigilante. They, however, didn't attack straight away: they were just hovering there, as if their purpose was simply warning the male, an attempt at getting him to leave without any further involvement on his part. "Fine by me", he thought. There was no room for mercy in the battlefield, he had learned the hard way. If the enemy wasn't going to attack first, Ryuu sure as hell wasn't going to wait. He was getting ready to pull up his throwing knives once again, confident that he would be able to take all the droens down before they could shoot. But then... "What the..."A female voice coming from below. A familiar voice. A voice that he had almost forgotten. "...Jasmine?!"Training in the middle of nowhere during the night while by herself certainly fit the character. Her choice of vocabulary even more. Controlling drones was weird, but hey, it had been, what, over a year? That was a long time ago... A lifetime, almost. So many things had changed... He didn't reply, but he did comply. He jumped downed, carefully using his mobility to swing around until he reached the bottom with no problems at all. He landed right near where he perceived the voice to come from. He looked at the woman. "Oh.", the disappoitment echoed in his mind. White hair, green eyes, a scar across her face. Beautiful - not that Jasmine wasn't, but there was something more charming to this female despite her notorious battle ready physique. Still... she had sounded just like Jaz. A similiar Quirk too. A coincidence? Was Ryuu's past just haunting him? Thank god for his mask not allowing the girl to not see his confused expression the moment he first layed his eyes upon her. Instead, he was able to speak in his transformed voice as if no mistaken in identification had happened. "Vigilante. Call me Zero.", Ryuu seemed to be growing more and more direct and straight to the point as he got older, "Are you aware that this is a potential villain hideout?"Notes: Jas! Or not! Or maybe... Standing still behind the pillar of stone, Jasmine eyed the monitor on her wrist. In this quaint scenario it would've been a miracle if her bluff worked. The previous drones had been taken out like nothing and if this anomaly decided to pounce on the remaining machines they wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight, paintball guns and all. She cursed under her breath as time went on, body frozen in motion, just waiting to see his next move.
Stillness didn't last. It never lasts. The man moved and so did the wolf, still sticking to the shade, ready to pounce back into cover lest another fight broke down. It didn't, luckily enough. He appeared in her peripheral quickly enough -- she couldn't recognize him. The mask and voice changer didn't help. Christ, how paranoid was this guy?
Ah, a vigilante. Then it made sense. The wolf's prior experience with vigilantes afforded her some respite, although she wouldn't be too careful since she didn't know him either. Could be lying for all she knew. She couldn't help but notice something odd, though. Her eyes narrowed as she gave him a once and twice over. Had she seen him somewhere before? Couldn't be. Yet he still seemed... familiar somehow. She couldn't put a finger on it.
Zero, he said. "Jasmine," she replied, eyes still ablaze. The ashen wolf wasn't exactly a hero yet nor was she even supposed to be there. There wasn't any point in trying to hide who she was either. Even if she was an unknown since she only recently returned to U.A. and looked completely different, chances were he'd figure it out eventually. U.A. kids weren't ever out of the media spotlight in one way or another.
She blinked, a little confused. "Far as I'm aware this place an old mine bound for demolition," she explained. "A friend knows the people who have the deed to this place. That's why I'm training here," the wolf added, folding her arms together as she sunk into a hip. A villain hideout? "Pretty sure somebody would've noticed if this wreck had villains camping inside. You sure you don't have your places mixed up?"
Yet as luck would have it, Jasmine would soon realize that Zero was actually right. Well, half right, actually. It was faint, but she heard it. Footsteps. Her drones buzzed to life and the wrist mounted computer on her arm vibrated. Intruders. Her form quickly tensed as she waved her hand, "Hide. Now!" she hissed quietly, ducking low under a pile of large rocks that had fallen down from the ceiling.
Back against stone, butt against concrete, Jasmine pulled up the small screen on her wrist. Eyes narrowing from its almost painful brightness, she punched in the next line of commands which saw the drones turning off their activity lights and flying high into the air, hiding, acting as UAVs. She might need them later. For now, she quickly hid her arm, hoping the flare of light hadn't alerted whoever just entered of her presence.
Staying hidden, she tried to catch a glimpse of whoever decided to crash their little party, hoping to God this Zero fellow was doing the same.
