To say that Haruuhi was a nervous wreck was one hell of an understatement. She had sent texts to G, Hana and Miku to meet her at Canova's Restaurant at 5pm earlier that day, and hoped that they could all make it... She wanted to have dinner in a restaurant with her family to meet James, because in her mind that meant there was less of an opportunity for G to make a scene and scare James off.
Little did haruuhi know that James and G already knew one another through the Storm Knights.
Haruuhi arrived first at the restaurant, having taken the train directly there after school. She had taken the time to change into her casual clothing of course, but now stood fidgeting in front of Canova's as she awaited for the arrival of everyone else. At her side, Robodog sat quietly, his eyes gazing out at the crowds that went by.
"Do you think this is going to turn out okay? Dad doesn't exactly have the best track record with boys..."
Haruuhi mummbled softly to the dog who looked up at her with his bright blue eyes. Gadian couldn't smile, but if he could he would just then. He would nudge Haruuhi's hand for headpats before speaking to her through their radiowave link.
'Even if it doesn't, I know you'll handle it. You've grown a lot master, you can't let something like this get in your way. This is your life after-all'
Gadian explained to which Haruuhi nodded and let out a heavy sigh, holding her hand to her chest as she tried to calm her heart down.
"You're right... he'll understand if I just explain to him that I trust James... right? Right... okay... now to wait and see if everyone actually shows up..."
She continued as she looked up from Gadian to see when the others might arrive. She waited for them outside the restaurant so that it wasn't as hard to find her, not that it was very hard to spot the large metallic dog at her side.

James had just finished getting ready at his apartment, he wore something casual but still presentable so he looked decent in front of Haruuhi's family, of course he already knew G, but G didn't exactly know that James knew Haruuhi. He stood in his room looking at himself in the mirror, wearing some nice dark jeans and a white T-shirt with his nice sneakers. He exited his room and grabbed his wallet and phone off the charger before calling out to Kotomi "Alright I'm off, I've left you some food in the fridge, remember to keep the door locked, anybody knocks just pretend you're not home," James reminded Kotomi rushing over to her to give a quick kiss on her forehead before rushing out of the apartment and getting on the train.
When he arrived at the restaurant he saw Haruuhi and Robodog, now known as Gadian standing outside the restaurant, he approached them with a smile "Hey, you're looking good, as always," he said with a smile giving her a peck on the cheek before kneeling down and giving Gadian a quick pet on the head "So how are you feeling? I'm feeling a little nervous if I'm being honest, but I'm sure that it'll turn out okay" he said taking Haruuhi's hand into his and what he said was true, while he was more than a little nervous to see how G would react to seeing him there, he also genuinely did feel like it would turn out okay considering her sister and mum would be there as well as well as it being a public venue would hopefully make sure G didn't kill him right then and there, the one time he'd briefly met Hanako when they picked Haruuhi up from the bar she seemed like a nice person and while he hadn't met Miku before from what Haruuhi has said about her he felt like she'd be nice as well, so there they were, standing in front of the restaurant waiting for her family to turn up to begin their night

Why oh whyyyy did he have to go. He didnt wanna go. But everyone told him to go. He came here because the women told him to go. Haruuhi, Hana and Miku told him to go, so fine he was here. He told Hana that she is free to kick him under the table if he goes and does something stupid. But yeah, he didnt want this. Somehow he got talked into it.
Haruuhi told him he can dress casual, so thats what he did. Presentable and yet casually dressed. Once Hana and Miku finished with their dress and stuff, they made their way to the restaurant.
As they drove there, G told Hana "Soo, I confess. Im not a big fan of restaurants. And this will be awkward as hell" he then raises hands to make a pre-emptive answer "I know I know. Dont be harsh. Give the boy a chance. I'll try my best. Feel free to kick me under the table if I get out of line"
Although he wished if Hana did that, that she misses and hits the boy instead. The thought makes him smile.
Eventually they would arrive at the restaurant. G had no real impressions of the place. He actually held back a yawn. They soon entered the restaurant and saw Haruuhi with the boy. G squinted as he saw that red hair. He just inhaled. Once he got some motivation from Hana, he went to the table with Haruu and the culprit
"Well well well. Hello there." he said his 'friendliest' greeting ever

She had basically walked behind him while fixing her earrings and hair and pointed out how he had to behave or if she had to repeat the whole list how this had gone bad before and she glared at him. Hanako had zero trust in G and she would basically kick his shins completely blue if she had to. Heck, she was going to find her pointy heels to make it even worse for him! Since they worked on being a more normal family, she had convinced G to get a driving licence, so she let him drive there with Miku in the back, Kai in the car seat. They would make a short pitstop at aunt Sayaka and dropped their little one there. She did not want to be fuzzing over her little boy while Haruuhi wanted a serious meeting and she had to focus on kicking G in case he opened his big mouth. She could not focus on Kai for that. "Why don't you just see it as eating and talking at the kitchen table." She said when she was back and let him drive at the restaurant. She glared at him, but nodded when he said so himself. At least he got the idea from it and she would smack him if he was being more idiotic about it. "Oh, I will kick you. Multiple times and hard. What did I tell you before." They rather have the girls introduce their boyfriends to them, than have them sneaking behind them. Then have them run off to people that they could not trust.
She checked her reflection one more time in the mirror before making sure she looked fine. She wanted to make a good impression for Haruuhi's sake, that she took this very seriously. She was wearing her normal clothing though, nothing extreme for her doing. She always wore make-up, skirts, blouses and heels so that was nothing new, nothing extravaganza. When they arrived she already elbowed him because even though he held back a yawn she could read it on his face. She took him by the arm and pulled him to the table and she smiled at Haruuhi and kissed her on the cheek, "Good to see you sweetie." Before turning to James and say hello to him to. It took her a second or two to realize he was the guy from the night last year... the drunk days. Interesting and she hid her smile and looked at G before taking a seat.

Miku was invited to a dinner with Haruuhi, her boyfriend and family. She went to the car and G drove them to the restauant place. Miku was sitting in the back and Kai was in the car seat. Miku listened to Hana and G talk, she smiled when Hana said that she wil kick him multiple times and hard. Before going to the restaurant, they went elsewhere. Hana took Kai and dropped him off somewhere. Huh... it makes sense. Maybe bringing Kai to a fancy dinner wasnt the smartest idea. Granted Miku didnt know this was where Hana's auntie lived, she just thought this was a babysitter, but she didnt ask anything and she let things be. So, when the two parents were done with dropping off Kai, they went to the restaurant.
Eventually they came to the restaurant and excited the car. G and Hana. They all saw Haruuhi and a boy. G was the first one to make his meet and greet, and then so did Hana. Now was her turn "Hello" Miku said, a bit more timid due to James's presence.
Miku was glad she was allowed to dress casual and not anything fancy. But these restaurant places werent her territory. She didnt understand why she had to be here. If Haruuhi has a boyfriend, shouldnt Hana and G be here to check him out. Where does she fit in?
Unless Haruuhi wants Miku to see does the boyfriend have the 'Miku seal of approval'. The thought of that makes Miku smile a bit. But now that they are all here and at the table, now what do they do.

Haruuhi smiled when she saw that James was the first to arrive. She let a heavy sigh escape her lips whenever he walked up and kissed her on the cheek. Gadian barked whenever James leaned down to pet him now as well, rubbing his head against the boy's hand until he stood back up to ask Haruuhi how she was feeling.
"I'm honestly horrified. I don't know how any of this is going to go... I've never had to do this before but... it seems like the proper thing to do, you know?? I'm sorry if this turns out super awkward or heated..."
She stated as she reached for his hand, holding it tightly in hers. She had to admit she was glad to see that he was nervous as well, it meant that he was taking this just as seriously as she was.
Soon after, her parents arrived and G was the first one out of the car. The man walked up to the group with an awkward greeting which made Haruuhi snicker a little bit. Was G nervous too? He was definitely on his best behavior anyways, and the nudge from Hana assured her that they were both trying to be civil. She smiled as she let go of James hand for a moment before walking up to both G and Hana and giving each of them a hug.
"Thanks for coming. Mom, Dad, Miku, this is James. James, these are my parents and my sister, Miku."
She introduced as she walked inside with the 3 of them, leading them to the reserved table she had called ahead for. Gadian however, stayed outside.
They were walked over by an usher and sat down, glasses of water filled for them and menus provide to the guests. Haruuhi sat down next to James at the booth, so that Hana and G could sit next to each other, hopefully making things that much less awkward.
"Sorry I sprang this on you two... it's just been on my mind for a while and I figured... you'd rather meet him like this than if I ever got in trouble again you know?"
She stated nervously, her eyes particularly on G. Hanako was much more level headed in her mind when it came to these... but since being adopted by G, he was really the one she kept trying to impress.

James chuckled a bit seeing Gadian rubbing his head against James' hand, even though he was a robotic dog, he was always just as cute as a regular dog was. When Haruuhi took his hand and told James she was feeling horrified he'd give it a reassuring squeeze
"Hey don't apologize for anything, I wanted to do this too, no matter how it turns out I'm glad that we've decided to do this," he said with a smile. Not long after that he noticed a car pull up and he saw G step out
Ok, here we go he said taking a breath to steady his nerves, he wasn't sure if he should reveal that he knows G and how they know each other, for now though he'd just act casual and see if G made the first move
But maybe he's expecting me to step up and reveal it first? he thought to himself as Haruuhi's parents and sister approached them. Haruuhi introduced James to them and vice versa
"It's very nice to meet you Mr and Mrs Hajimari," he'd say to her parents before turning slightly to Miku "and you Miku, Haruuhi has mentioned you a couple of times, it's nice to finally meet you," he'd say with a polite smile before they entered the restaurant.
James took a seat next to Haruuhi and took a sip of his water as Haruuhi apologized for springing this meeting on them
"I'd also been wanting to formally introduce myself to you all, so I asked Haruuhi if she could help me organize a meeting with you," James would add after Haruuhi had finished speaking

G watched the two kids, Haruuhi soon approached him and Hana and hugged them. G hugged her as well. She was such a cutie, he was so glad how she grew up. He'd even be proud of her. If she didnt follow Miku's taste of boys. Hnng, he had to behave. He promised them all. Yes, he can do this. Be civil.
Haruuhi thanked them for arriving and introduced James to them and she introduced them as the parents and Miku as the sister to James. After which they walked inside. G held Hana's hand and kept close to her as a way to keep calm. They were led to a reserved table. Meanwhile Robodog stood outside. The family, plus James sat down at the table. G made sure to sit in a perfect place that allows her to hit him under the table if need be.
Haruuhi apologized for springing this on them, she just speaks and G just sips his water. This entire awkward meeting will make his throat dry. Would he rather 'meet' James like this than if she got in trouble. G tried to avoid saying that he knows James. Should he say that he knows James, already. Maybe he should. Hana can kick him later, because he most likely deserves it
James meanwhile sat next to Haruu and took a sip of his water too. Heh, funny.
"Erm.. yes... Long time no see?" G said, not sure what to say. He sipped his water and waited for an inevitable kick

Hanako squeezed his hand to make sure he would behave. As they would sit at the table she would make sure she could either kick him or step on his toes and she would just see how it would go for today. She smiled to the two and looked at Miku when James said he heard so much about her. It was nice to meet such a guy and she did recognize him and when G pointed this out, she looked at him with a little bit of anger in her eyes. Seriously if he was going to bring up the drunk stuff again, she was not just going to tap his toes with her shoe, she was going to throw her heel into it. She wasn't sure what to say herself, she had no idea where to start but she thought it might be good to say something before G would say something stupid more.
"It is nice to meet you James." Considering they really did not know him in the first meeting, this was her best solution, "and thank you both for the invitation, it is nice to do something with the family and meet the people that either of our girls spend a lot of time with." She said to make sure Miku did not feel it was only for Haruuhi, if she wanted something like this, she would allow it and she would kick G again to behave like a normal person. She was going to see how this was going and she would like to learn more about James. Obviously, she had no idea if they meant to talk about something specific, she had told G many many times that the best they could do was for the girls to feel like they could share everything and thus she was trying her very best on this.

Miku watched as Haruuhi hugged G and Hana. And she thanked them all for arriving. Haruuhi then introduced James to them and she introduced them as the parents and Miku as the sister to James. James then said it was very nice to meet them. And thats when Miku gets her first reaction from James, he said it was nice to meet you "Nice to meet you too" she said quietly, her shyness getting a hold of her, since he was a new person. He said Haruuhi spoke to him about Miku. Miku was surprised, how and why. It was obvious Miku was speechless "Oh um... how nice" was the only thing she managed to blurt out Eventually they walked inside. They were led to a reserved table. Meanwhile Robodog stood outside. The two couples sat next to eachother and thus the awkward conversations started. Miku just wanted to get this over with. Truth be told, she imagined this be a boring dinner to her. Hana then like a champ took over the conversation. Miku didnt really speak unless spoken too. Instead she just watched everyone. Miku missed the angry look Hana gave to G, so instead she just saw the confusion in G's eyes. And Miku didnt understand what was going on. She was already lost. Does she care?

Haruuhi couldn't help but smile as she listened to James being so formal with her family. he was really putting in the effort and it showed. At least to her. Under the table Haruuhi reached for his hand and gave it a light squeeze as a thanks for being so calm about this when she just felt like a giant bundle of nerves.
She couldn't help but suddenly tilt her said when her father was the first to speak up... meet again? They had met before?
' Oh right... probably the day I got hammered... '
She thought to herself with a bit of a mental sweat drop. That was definitely not a topic to be bringing up right now. Not that James had done anything wrong, but it wasn't something she wanted them to base their opinions on. She'd acted stupid and selfishly, and she wasn't going to let him take the fall for that.
Before Haruuhi had the chance to address the familiarity, her mom spoke up in a matching polite manner and that brought the smile back to Haruuhi's face. It was hard to think that this was the same woman from before Kai was born. She seemed so different, so much stronger than she used to be. Maybe it was just because Haruuhi had opened herself up more to the idea of having them all as her real family..?
"I know a restaurant is a bit weird seeing as we never do this kind of thing, but I thought it would be a nice change of pace you know? So... I'm ready, you probably have 100 questions lined up for me right?"
She asked, now shifting her gaze back towards G, and lightly sticking her tongue out at him as she teased him. She knew there'd be tough questions, and while she was nervous, she wasn't going to lie about them.
She then looked over at Miku who didn't seem all that pleased to be here.
"Yup, even though we're about the same age Miku is my big sister. She's the best."
She said with a warm smile towards Miku. Though at the same time she sent a silent message to her phone, hoping she would read it under the table.
<<You okay?>>
The message asked her. She was used to a more upbeat Miku, but in recent days she had been acting pretty different. Distracted and withdrawn.

James squeezed Haruuhi's hand back in response, everything was going well so far and James was determined to keep it that way. James looked at G to see how he was reacting to everything, he seemed pretty calm which made James feel relieved, but he also wasn't giving out any signals if him and James should acknowledge that they know each other so for now James would keep quiet on the subject. Miku seemed pretty shy, but James didn't think too much of it, his own sister was pretty shy as well so he'd just be patient and let Miku open up at her own pace. James though Hanako seemed really nice, almost a polar opposite of G in terms of attitude, though he guessed that would provide a good balance of discipline and kindness at home.
He'd nod politely at Hanako when she'd thank him for the invite
"It's my pleasure, family's probably the most important thing for me so I'm glad to be getting to know you guys like this," James said. He gave a smile when Haruuhi mentioned how Miku was the best big sister
"Having a sibling that you can be so close with is a great thing, speaking from experience," he'd say "Even if you feel like there's some things you feel you can't really talk with your parents about you can always talk with your siblings about stuff like that, it's a really great thing to have," he'd finish
"But like Haruuhi said, I'm sure you have lots of questions, so if there's anything you'd like to know, please ask away," James would offer, he really wanted Hanako, G and Miku to know as much about him as they'd want to

G didnt really react nor talk much. He just kept quiet and sipped water. Truth be told G forgot about the drunk incident. That was the day G saw red. Red as in blind rage, not James's hair. Any questions they had would most likely come from Hana. G was just trying not to get kicked in the nads of legs. G was just there as a formality. He was the father and the head of the family. He was there for Haruuhi. She was hell bent on wanting this guy so be it. He had to be just and not pick favourites between his children. This was fair. He hoped it was
Meanwhile Miku was texted and messaged. She felt the vibration of her phone. She excused herself because she was picking up her phone at the table. She was taught that was impolite. When she looked at the message, she looked up to Haruuhi and texted her
Miku: Im fine
She didnt speak more. She had her own problems. G meanwhile just sipped the water and looked at the ladies. Miku, Hana and Haruuhi. Oh and James. Sure he can be considered a lady as well. He shook his head and looked away. Hana was more pleasing to the eye

She was trying so hard to be nice and bring this conversation well above the table and just make them talk but it did not seem to go all so smooth and she looked at G, to see if he would react to Haruuhi's teasing or James inquiry before she turned to Miku as she excused herself and took her phone. This... family... couldn't be normal ever... She took a deep breath, trying to just bring the air through her teeth and not obvious that she was lost for words and just lost in general. She was going to do everything to try and make this dinner pleasant, "So you have siblings as well James?" Would this boy tell them a little more about himself as he spoke about understanding the idea of siblings and sharing things with just your siblings and not your parents. Yes, probably something this family was doing a lot as well, considering the phone on the one side and radio girl on the other.
"So eh, how did you guys meet?" Hanako asked, considering she hoped they did not meet on drunk day, because that would not bring a nice party to the game. She would just try to not look and tare at the menu, demand a waiter or for the unknown universal gods to make this not a shitty evening for either of two and for G to start talking. This felt horrible and she did not want to kick him for his silence but he could show more interests. She wished she could ask him casually if he remembered what she said during Christmas, to trust the girls and the guys they brought in for a reason. But she could not ask that out loud and just had to deal with the rest. She would make this an okay evening, even if she had to do that all by her lonesome.

Haruuhi forced the smile to remain on her lips as James spoke, only to be met by complete silence. The only sound breaking it was Miku excusing herself upon receiving her text. She had been so sure G would give James a hard time, not completely shut down like this... She supposed it was better? Really she hadn't been sure what to expect... but it online shows had taught her anything he should be a bit more talkative right?
She just kept it up, looking instead towards Hana who seemed to be the only one keen on keeping this conversation going. She felt herself give a huge internal sigh of relief... at least someone was acknowledging this meet the boyfriend gathering in a normal way... she would have to hug and thank Hana later, because right now she felt completely cast aside by how G was asking, and was totally unsure of Miku with how quiet and tentative she was.
'Just focus on Hana then... get through this and let them go home...'
She thought to herself, firing off another quick text to Miku first.
<<Okay. Don't forget you can talk to me about anything. You look really... I don't know, miserable? I don't like to see you sad.>>
Before Haruuhi got the chance to speak up however, the waitress came by with a bright smile of her own on her face, holding up a tray and tablet as she introduced herself to the table.
"Such a lovely family we've got here~ My name is Hina, and I'll be your waitress today. Can I get you anything to drink, any appetizers?"
She asked kindly as was her job. Haruuhi looked up to the waitress, asked for a soda and gyoza to share with everyone. She gave everyone else a chance to order what they wanted, waited for her to leave before looking back towards Hanako.
"Alright... well how we met was uhm... interesting. I was waiting at the bank to deposit my last check from the cafe when some crooks started holding up the place. I don't know how things would have turned out if James wasn't there... I probably would of ended up getting kicked out of school to be honest..."
She said lowering her voice, rubbing the back of her neck nervously. She hadn't told her parents at all about the incident, and had actually forgotten a lot about it, as they had been replaced with happier memories with James since then...
"Oh but no one got hurt. James took care of them for the most part and he kept me out of the cold. We've been seeing each other back and forth since then."
