After the initial showdown between Jack and the Australian student Travis, the dragon boy didn't really know what to expect from the rest of the combatants. Travis had probably been one of the hardest fights he had ever fought, if not the hardest. With that in mind, he knew fully well that he shouldn't pull his punches from here on out. After all, the next fight could quite easily be the one where he gets knocked out. In that regard...any less than his all would honestly be disrespectful.
As he would be announced into the ring, Jack would take a much less dramatic entrance, simply walking across the stage and waving to all those who held high expectations for him. He took a deep breath, and exhaled steam through his nose, mentally preparing himself for what was to come.
He thought about his opponent, Nenkin. He didn't really know too much about his classmate's abilities; besides the obvious fact that he was slug-like. He tilted his head from side to side, musing over what that could entail. They were slimy, so...maybe he could shoot it? Or maybe he was completely off and his opponent had many more tricks up his lead.
He pursed his lips, also taking note of the arena they were in. Compared to the rather basic arena that the first round had, this one was much more akin to a bamboo forest. Size probably wouldn't help him too much here in that regard, so he decided not to transform right out of the gate this time. For all he knew, traps lay in wait for both of the students within the forestry.
Nonetheless, when Nenkin would come into view, he would smile brightly at his classmate. "Heya, Nenkin! I hope you're as excited for this as I am~! Gimme your best shot!" he chirped, looking quite happy about the upcoming battle. He supposed it was the predator in him talking, always excited for the next rush of adrenaline. As the match would start to commence, Jack would take a basic stance, his eyes suddenly going sharp and yellow, his expression suddenly serious.
He would begin to circle around his opponent warily, watching to see what Nenkin would try to do and react in kind. He knew well that the first strike was always what mattered in a fight; it could easily be what spelled the end for either of them right out the gate. That's why he knew well not to underestimate anyone, and go at it with his all!

Breathe in... breathe out. It was all that he could do to prepare himself for the coming storm. It wasn't like before. What was to come wasn't going to be a surprise like it had been the last time. For some reason the boy didn't feel that scared or nervous, perhaps a vestige of that high-spirited heroic persona he had made himself. Right now he should have been a bumbling wreck!
'Good,' the boy thought, 'If I keep myself together right now I won't look like as much of a fool on the field.' Strange thoughts just to keep himself together. The heroic paladin of justice was all a lie, though, even if it was one that he could tell to himself. Deep down the boy was falling apart, anxiety and poor self-esteem scratched at the walls of his ego, wearing it thin. Deep down he knew that he couldn't win this one. Not with the performance he had seen earlier. He shuddered at the thought, and threw it away. As long as he didn't linger on it he could pretend the obvious outcome didn't exist.
Alas, not every knight was destined to slay the dragon. When he was finally called he would release a sigh and give a quick nod to his guide.
The boy's entry into the arena wasn't that flashy. Just the fact that his body was his quirk limited him a bit in that regard. He raised a fist in the air for the audience to see. He straightened his back as he closed in on his opponent. Oh! How strange it was that this small boy could turn himself into such a powerful beast. Oh! Unfortunate it was that he couldn't gauge his ability to stare death in the face!
Nenkin rolled his shoulders as Jack tossed his first bit of friendly banter towards the boy. Matching Jack's pace, Nenkin would swivel his eyes to meet Jack's.
"Hooh?" The snail boy would feign a mocking curiosity, all a part of the dance, of course! "My best hm?"
Nenkin grasped the front of his face with two fingers as if he was thinking hard on the subject. "You may be stronger than me, but I think I've decided how I'm going to beat you!" His knuckles audibly cracked, and his spines would briefly show themselves all over his bod. The truth was, he had no idea what he was doing, but trickery had always been the game he played. He never once had to lift a finger to keep the worst of bullies at bay. His size alone could take care of that! But here? This school was the first place that he had ever been expected to follow through.
His eyes started to swivel around for a bit, looking for his next direction of attack. In his mind, Jack's quirk would make it hard for him to make actual use of the surroundings... Or if he was being honest, the bamboo seemed thinner than he thought it would have been. No climbing and jumping around right now.
He would have to settle on a dumb idea. Could it work? He didn't know, but he would miss all the shots that he didn't take!
Without warning, Nenkin would hop on to all fours and dash for one of the central bamboo patches and attempt to rip out a couple of smaller stalks with his might. Assuming that this worked, the boy would be standing back up on his feet, running towards his opponent.
In the middle of his run, he would plant one foot in front of him, chucking one of the bamboo stalks towards jack!

Jack grinned devilishly as Nenkin returned the pre-battle banter with an equal amount of gusto. He would tell Jack that he was stronger, but that Nenkin would win anyway, despite that. As Jack could see the spines appear all across Nenkin's body, the dragon boy's body would crackle with black and white plasma all over his body. He cracked his own knuckles, and then his neck a little as well. "Let's see if you can live up to that promise this!" he exclaimed, circling around his opponent.
The sudden silence was almost cold, the two combatants eyeing each other and the area. Jack thought about his options at the moment. On one hand, assuming that the forest truly didn't have any traps, he could go into his full dragon form, at least the smallest variation that he could go. At least then he would have an air of intimidation. He tilted his head from side to side, mulling it over. All things considered...it could be a good idea?
However, before he could finish thinking about it, Nenkin would suddenly go on the attack! The slug-man ran on all fours towards a bamboo stalk, ripping it right out of the ground and rushing at him! Instinct quickly took over the small boy, and, within the matter of only a few seconds, was suddenly in his full, draconic form! As Nenkin would throw the bamboo at him, Jack would quickly jump to the side, catching the stick with his tail and snaping it in two.
He then roared at him, mostly wondering how his classmate would handle seeming something like him up close. A lot of people didn't really see him like this often, especially nowadays. Nonetheless, as an incarnation of death stared Nenkin in the eyes...or intenae...or whatever he had, a low growl would emit from Jack's throat.
Depending on how Nenkin would attack, Jack would promptly growl a bit louder. "My turn." he said simply, firing a sudden plasma ball right from his mouth at his classmate! He didn't go at full strength; at least not yet. He knew that he couldn't waste too much energy off the bat anyway, so there was no harm in testing the waters. He would then suddenly charge at Nenkin, aiming to hit him with a mighty tail swipe! Jack still did mean business with this fight, no matter who it was he was fighting!

Nenkin manipulated the second shaft of bamboo to a more comfortable grip before dashing forward! His body was tense. He knew he couldn't win this, not by a long shot, but he had to keep fighting like he could; before his soul could feel that terrible weight on its shoulders!
Alas. The form of the dragon was more fearsome when turned against him! No longer was the beastly roar a rally cry, but now it was a clarion call for this surrender. He would never!. The volume alone made the boy stutter his steps, raising his arm to shield his face from god-knew-what, but it was only a split moment, a crack in the fearless facade that he had put on since the first tournament match. He couldn't let it fall! Not here!
"Hmph!" The break in his momentum was a bit jarring, he would admit, but still he would press for ward once more! "Hoh!? You think that's going to stop me?" Jack may have been a good fighter, but he was sorely mistaken if he thought he would make a coward out of the might S-KAR-Go!
In his continued charge, he would extend the toxic barbs that hid under his skin and go in for a powerful uppercut to Jack's head! Something along the lines of 'I'll make you eat those words' passed through his head. Alas, the powerful punch that he possibly delivered would be met with nothing more than those hunter's eyes and a terrible snarl! A brief thought of the first time his TTRPG party encountered its first dragon passed through his head.
No! No time for standing there like a deer caught in the headlights! "Not just yet!" He brought the bamboo with him exactly for something like this! Before he could get hit with that blistering blast, he would attempt to shove the bamboo shaft onto the roof of Jack's mouth and shove his head away just enough so that he would miss his breath attack!
With a speed and agility that surpassed his own, Jack would be able to land a hit right to Nenkin's gut without any trouble! Nenkin's eye stalks would nearly retreat into his head the moment before he would be sent flying backwards no more than a meter or so. 'How could I be so foolish!?' He questioned his own sanity for just over a second as he brought himself to his feet
His stomach churned in pain, sending a good splattering of his own bile to the ground in front of him. "Hah, I knew - Urrgh! I knew I shouldn't have eaten that snack before this match!" He was about to sling his makeshift weapon over his shoulder only to find that he must have dropped it during the knockback! Not only that! Whether or not his attempt to avoid the shot succeeded most it would have probably been turned to ash!

Jack couldn't help but smirk a little in response to Nenkin's continued bravado. At least, in the face of a beast as admittedly terrifying as he, Nenkin had the resolve to keep moving, no matter what the result was. While he may act very...cuddly and the like towards the people he cares about and trusts, the only ones who will see this side of the dragon would be opponents who don't know him, the masses of people who would be watching him often, and, of course...the villains who would be the victims of Jack's raw, draconic power. The way he saw it, there was hardly much point in hiding who he was; after all, only those who were important to him would see the real him.
That, of course, included right now.
As Jack would charge right into Nenkin, swiping his tail in a mighty blow, Nenkin would be sent flying back a few meters. However, in that time, Nenkin would manage a glancing blow on Jack's chin. Of course, it didn't really do much; Jack was starting to realize that he may not have the strongest of opponents this time. However, a slight burst of dizziness would begin to form in Jack's head. It wasn't heavy enough to make his head spin...but it was more than enough to give the car-sized dragon a massive headache. He snarlled, looking rather annoyed by the effects of Nenkin's poison.
That being said, it didn't stop his assault. Jack promptly began to charge a plasma ball, aimed right for Nenkin. In retaliation, Nenkin would attempt to shove a bamboo stick right into the dragon's gaping maw, trying to force his head upward! However, the slug would be promptly disappointed, as Jack's head hardly budged at all; Jack held firm, now just glad for the now clearer target. The dragon fired the plasma ball, the slug man likely having an extremely hard time dodging from the lack of distance between them.
With that, Jack would jump back, almost feeling bad as Nenkin would suddenly retch, throwing up a little on the ground from all that Jack had thrown at him. The dragon grimmaced, not liking to see the damaged state of his classmate. On one hand, it showed just how strong Jack actually was; a well needed ego boost, to say the least. At the same time, though...a massive twang of guilt formed in Jack's gut. He gave Nenkin time to recover, watching him warily.
"...I think you should concede, Nenkin." he said flatly, sitting down on his haunches. "I don't like seeing you like this. Even then, unless I'm just blowing hot air, it doesn't seem like this would go well for you if you were to continue. There's no shame in it, though. You're giving it your all, but..." Jack stopped there, feeling guilty for even suggesting this. But...he didn't want to hurt someone more than he needed to, even if a sport like this. He honestly just hoped that Nenkin would see his reasoning...

"Concede?" Even as weak as he was, he knew that a hero never just conceded, not in a million years. "If someone's life was at stake, what kind of hero would I be if I just conceded?" The snail rose from the detritus-covered ground. He knew that Jack was right. There was no point trying to get over a wall like Jack, not yet. That wasn't the point. What kind of coward would turn away a the first sign of a challenge? What kind of person would refuse to give it their all to grow?
The slime on his very skin boiled as it evaporated around him, only red flesh remaining where parts of his skin had been torn or burned off. Even a part of his head where his eye should have been was marked by a wide gash. For a moment it may have looked like he had lost one of his eye stalks, but not to fear! The fleshy stalk popped right back out of his head! He had managed to save it just in time!
"Jack, you may think I have a death wish," the snail boy took a step closer, the wounds that now covered his body started to close themselves by the slightest bit, but not enough that it would matter too much, if at all, for a prolonged fight. He had to show that he was more than the weakling Jack made him look like, "but there's never been a wound that I haven't healed from, come at me!"
"Where was the power that you had before, Jack?" The snail boy dropped down on all fours, and started to strafe around the boy until he could reach one of the thicker parts of the bamboo forest. "You really think that I could go down that easily? I'm ashamed!" He would try his best to dodge the next attack that came his way, likely by using his strength to launch himself up into the air.
When, or even if, he was able to reach the thicker bamboo forest, the snail boy would start to climb as swiftly as he could while keeping some semblance of a forward momentum. This would not be an easy task He hoped that his naturally greenish-brown skin would help him blend in with the rest of his surroundings, but the racket he was making would likely make him stand out.

"You're comparing a life or death situation to what is more or less just a sporting event," Jack said in response to Nenkin's initial refusal, his tone rather different from his usual, upbeat and cheerful tone. It was much more flat, yet filled with worry for someone he considered his friend. Especially as he noticed the amount of damage that his attack had done to him, even as Jack had held back precisely for this reason. He almost wanted to retch at the sight of it...but at the least Nenkin seemed to be healing from it. Plus, he didn't lose an eye. That was a plus.
Nenkin then tried his own plea with the dragon, telling him that there was no wound that he had yet to heal from. "Nenkin...look at yourself! I was already holding back and you're looking like you're in an immense amount of pain! While I get you have your own pride as well, please reconsider!" he cried, his throat starting to feel dry as he realized the position he was in. What could he do here? If he were to throw the match, Nenkin would just find himself in another situation like this in the next round; most likely with someone who wouldn't worry about his wellbeing like this. At the same time though...he wasn't going to quit.
A low growl emitted from the dragon. He had to figure out a way to end this quickly. At the least...no more plasma. That was going to hurt Nenkin far more than he would have ever thought it would have, to say the least. That left his brute strength...but would Nenkin be satisfied with a simple ring out? But he didn't want to hurt him anymore...not when things were as clear as they were. He eyed Nenkin warily, weighing out his options. If he were to continue, he'd just feel more guilty one way or the other...Gah, why did this have to be this hard of a decision?! It was hardly fair to either of them!
Jack was promptly broken out of his thoughts as Nenkin would suddenly goad him into using his full power, running on all fours around him. That being said...compared to Jack, he was slow. Jack bit his tongue a little, mostly just watching Nenkin go around him. He couldn't just let him do whatever he was trying to do, but... The dragon shook his head, deciding finally that it was best to try and finish this...but not without giving the snail warrior a final chance, and then at least a proper send-off.
Just before Nenkin could reach the forest, the dragon would suddenly lunge at the snail man at top speed, aiming to knock him aside with a swipe from his mighty claw! It was more of a back-hand than anything, though; he still had no intention of unnecessarily hurting him more than he had to. Back on all fours, Jack would once again circle around the snail man, glaring at him as if he were a predator looking at his prey...though his words gave off the practical opposite impression.
"I'm giving you one last chance to reconsider! If you want me to show my full strength, then I will give you what you wish. But only if you know what's going to happen if I do. Please, think about this carefully!" he pleaded one final time, his tone filled with worry more than anything else. He would wait to see what the snail would say in response...but he knew full well what was about to come. He certainly wasn't about to use his plasma again, but...he would still honor his friend's wish. Even if it wasn't one that he agreed with in the slightest.
