- A Lone Lioness - " Cause I just wanna swing like Sinatra, singing like I can't stop " The day had been like any other - boring, uneventful. Nothing to write home about, really. Jasmine still couldn't really blend into the rhythm, often feeling on edge or simply out of place. This... calm was so unusual. It felt foreign. Often as though she simply didn't belong. She enjoyed it, but at the same time it was frustrating. Almost as though she didn't have a place here. And she didn't like it. She couldn't like it.
Getting used to living in the dorm was an especially arduous task to accomplish. Jasmine was used to sharing a run down room with many other rejects of similar caliber as herself. Said accommodations would often be cramped and filthy with little air to breathe. But they were home. The people that were with her were what made it a home. People with similar circumstances that she could relate with. And now... now she lived in her very own room, which was sizable to say the least, with lots of expensive shit provided by her sponsors, aka the people funding Yuuei. It was large and extravagant, yet at the same time empty and foreign. The silky bed sheets, comfortable chairs, aesthetic desks and nightstands... Before coming to Yuuei, all of that felt like a faraway dream. But now she was living that dream all by herself and it made her chest ache.
Because of this very reason Jasmine tried to spend as little time in her empty room as she could. She didn't know many people at Yuuei aside her classmates, and she hadn't interacted with them much either. Thus, as she did every evening, just before the sun set, Jasmine went out for a run. She was dressed in simple exercise gear - a black tank underneath a loose red hoodie, dark grey capri sweats and a pair of red sneakers. She fixed her earphones and her hair under her red hood before putting a random song from her playlist on and began her evening routine.
She ran. She didn't know for how long exactly. She just ran. Must've gone through half of her playlist, honestly. She couldn't really tell. Jasmine just zoned out the world completely as she focused on pacing her breathing, letting muscle memory guide her way towards the beach. The music thumped into her eardrums as she got there, feeling her feet burn as she ran on the sand, building up quite the sweat.
Some time later she found herself on the completely other side of Dagobah beach. She stopped for a little while, trying to catch her breath. Jasmine approached one of the closing food stalls, wondering if she could possibly get some drinking water. Luckily one of the older clerks didn't mind selling her the water after-hours. With a smile on her face she thanked him and went over to a bench, sitting down to compose herself as she hydrated.
Her lilac eyes stilled as she gazed at the beach, her current situation replaying itself in her mind's eye again. Jasmine groaned, pulling down her hood and letting her hair free. The more she thought about it, the more the gut wrenching feeling inside her chest made her want to vomit. She had to distract herself somehow.
The first year pulled out her phone; she had lately become interested in acquiring an accompanying fighting style to be better suited for combat as opposed to just blowing shit up indiscriminately. She wasn't familiar with Yuuei enough yet to know if there was someone to teach her - she'd have to ask - so for now she'd have to rely on the internet. As such she pulled up as much information as she could on various fighting styles, leaning more towards an MMA-type of approach. She found a video and she tapped play.

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings It was getting late and he had already take dinner, but he decided to leave home for some time. He told his parents that he going to Dagobah Beach and that, if they needed anything, they could just call him. His mother gave him a kiss on the forehead, his father told him to be careful and then he left his mansion-like house.
He was wearing a plain blue t-shirt, visible only because his red hoodie jacket was open. His sweatpants were light gray - almost seeming white - and his sneakers black. Just like it was usual, his earphones were on his ears and, like always, his black earring on his left ear. His pace was slow as he walked in direction to the beach as the boy wa lost in his own thoughts.
He was questioning his decision to enroll at Yuuei. His parents were really proud and his sister... Well, his sister would probably also feel the same. But such a feel wasn't shared by Ryuusei himself. When he got the leeter of acceptance a few motnhs before, he just shrugged his shoulders: just another school, but with a different programme. I didn't know what a hero was or should be; he didn't want to become one. He had only applied to Yuuei because of his sister's dream, not because of his own. Was that fair? Was it fair that many people who truly wanted to help society weren't able to enter only for someone like Ryuu to take their place?
Before realizing it, his feet were already standing on sand. When he didn't feel peaceful at home, Dagobah Beach was were he usually went to meditate. He hated water - and never really got close to it - but for some reason he found the sound of an empty beach one of the most beautiful sounds to listen to. Because of that, he turned off his music, putting his earphones inside his jacket's pocket.
There it was. In the middle of that vast terrain of sand a lone, giant rock stood that. It was Ryuusei's favorite spot. He walked to it and, carefuly, climbed it. Sitting atop of, his eyes closed and legs crossed, he let himself enter a clean state of mind. No distractions, no thoughts other than achieve a peaceful and calm state. He would eventually have to decide the path that he was going to take, but, for now, avoiding it seemed like a good option.
As a cool breeze passed by, Ryuu didn't think he would encounter another person there... Much less think that such person would be one of his new classmates.
Notes: I like how Jas went there to watch fighting videos and Ryuu went to meditate. Cool contrast! Words: 441.

Meanwhile, Miku was already at the beach, for a while, not too long though. She was mostly alone just sitting and contemplating everything that happened to her...along with getting some of the sun! But during her stay at the beach, she was just looking at her phone and texting her... guardian. While she was now staying at UA and its dorms. She couldnt just forget the person who raised her, even though that person is a Villain. Thinking about it, it just made her feel more conflicted. But after getting numerous concerned text messages from him, she had no other option then to reply. She was getting all kinds of questions like: 'what is it like at school?', 'is someone bothering you?', 'why arent you texting me?' ,'are you even alive?, 'do i have to kill someone?', 'oh good, you're alive', 'have you made any friends?', 'why didnt you have any friends?!' and so on and so forth
"Geez, for a Villain, he sure is a mother hen...or a papa bear" Miku thought to herself, getting slightly annoyed by the overprotectivness and the concern from someone like him. She thought to herself,...how could she make friends? If the person she trusted for years lied to her? Then whats stopping a couple of strangers she doesnt know from lying to her. She sighed, because she was just too scared to make a move on her own

It wasn't really that far off a little further down the coast where a man sat as well listening to the calm as the world slowly began to calm. The later half of the day coming with each passing tick of the clock. He had nowhere to be for the time while his crew were off shore interrogating a couple hostages that went missing from another beach a few miles up the coast a couple of days ago. They were currently trying to deduce just how much their families could pay or what could be taken to make the people worth their weight as well as the trouble. He felt it was a simple enough task to leave to the rest of them for now. Breaking civilians was usually never that difficult anyway. Even if it had been on the news given all else that went on in this city he didn't really see it as a risk to relax a little.
For now he was further up the shore but still visible. The massive six foot, ten inches tall being covered in a cloak and sleeveless goody and baggy loose fitting pants. His pink arms two on each side that were connected with a form of webbing between them each holding onto a rather long olden style bamboo fishing rod. He remained deathly still for the time watching the water as the smell of the sea filled his nostrils. The tentacles lightly peaking from his hood only twitching just lightly when the cool breeze carried of the moving waves. He could hear some people remaining not far off but for the time kept to his own. His dark leathery boots resting in the sand as he remained sitting on the large rock he made use of as a seat for the time being.

I just wanna swing like Sinatra, singing like I can't stop I just wanna live like the ones before, yeah Sitting on top of the backrest of a random beach side bench, Jasmine took a swig from her water bottle as she watched a video on her phone. The guy on the screen was explaining and demonstrating the many different moves available for an MMA fighting style: various clinching, grappling, submission and takedown maneuvers, and a long range of different strikes and kicks. She knew that MMA was basically a mishmash of all kinds of different fighting styles, but the sheer scope of it made her think she should start from something simpler like Boxing or Thaibo.
Having watched several videos for about ten to twenty minutes, Jasmine sighed as she hopped up from the bench. She finished her water and tossed the empty bottle into a trashcan, humming to herself triumphantly when she made the bucket with a swish in her imagination.
Jasmine kicked off her sneakers, letting her bare feet touch the still warm sand of the beach. She glanced at her phone and quickly turned on her music app, finding a playlist titled Homeward Bound. Nodding to herself she pocketed her phone and fixed her earphones.
Uh-uh, fuck that. Eight doobies to the face, fuck that. Twelve bottles in the case, fuck that. Two pills and a half-weight, fuck that. Got a high tolerance when your age don't exist like whoa-oh.
Working with her memory, Jasmine recalled and reenacted the many striking moves she had seen in the video. Way back when she had a friend in New York; a kid that was trying to go big with boxing but got tangled up with all the wrong people. He had taught her the basic stance. Left foot forward, right slightly behind. Fists up near her chin. Left used for quick strikes, right for power strikes. Exhale with each strike. Simple and like clockwork.
As such she began her motions, starting a shadowboxing routine while blending her movements together with the beat of the music in her ears. Two quick strikes with her left and a more powerful jab with her right. One-one-two. One-two-one. Two-one-two. An uppercut. A straight. A Cross with the right. Hook with the left. Taking notes from the video: an elbow, a knee, and a spinning roundhouse to an imaginary head.
She stepped backwards after that, catching herself before she could fall down after a screwed up landing. Clicking her tongue, Ember hopped in place for several moments before resuming her rotations, trying out different combinations, taking most of her moves from memory and often spicing it up by drawing from what she could recall from the video. Together with all that jogging she did before, the stress on her body had slowly begun accumulating, making her calves burn a little.
Stopping after a while, Jasmine heaved a heavy breath, thinking over her combinations and trying to think of possible ways of improving them before she resumed her dance. Honestly this was turning out to be a little difficult without a teacher or sparring partner. She knew Yuuei had the equipment she'd need to improve like sandbags, wrist weights, etc., but what she was unsure of was whether it had the staff for this specific ordeal. She hoped so, really. If past fights told her anything is that simply flailing around in a fight hoping her punched would hit her mark was neither an effective nor safe way of fighting. More often than not she'd end up injuring herself and not her opponent, and that was just utterly embarrassing, let alone dangerous. Her Quirk could often help her out with that. Blitzkrieg was nothing if not effective. But having only one contingency to fall back on, especially one that she wasn't even proficient with, was a recipe for disaster just waiting to happen.
The more she let her thoughts get to her, the more frustrated she became, and that showed in the weight of her strikes, each one with more power behind it than the last. Eventually she had started heavily panting without realizing it herself, her stamina draining far too quickly to be able to be maintained. After her last swing Jasmine felt her legs buckle as her weight shifted, barely able to spin upright as she fell flat on her ass with a grunt.
The female sprawled out on the gritty sand below her, bright lilac eyes staring up at the darkening yet beautiful orange sky. A plethora of thoughts ran through her tired mind at a thousand miles per second, as they often did so whenever she was fatigued. And none of them were pleasant. Together with her general discomfort with her current setting, she had begun seeing the first obstacles to becoming stronger. And she was almost positive she was only scratching the surface of the many hurdles she'd have to cross.
Before she could entertain her thoughts, though, Jasmine's eyes picked up the sight of a person. And while that's not at all abnormal considering the fact that she was in a public beach, it was the fact that the persona looked familiar that had caught her attention. Shifting her weight, she rolled over on her belly as she stared at him. He's... in my class? I think? What was his name...? R. R... something? Ray? Rayu? Ryuu! She couldn't really remember his full name, unfortunately.
Using her arms to push herself up, Jasmine's first thought was to get the guy to help her out, either by being her sparring partner or punching bag - she didn't really care which one. But the moment she discerned the thoughtful look on his face any trace of those thoughts had vanished, for some reason. Frankly the guy looked just as lost as she was, and clearly he wasn't coming from the other side of the globe.
So she figured getting to know a classmate wouldn't be so bad. Or it would. She didn't know, really. But she definitely wasn't feeling like she wanted to be physically active, at least at this particular moment. She'd done that enough and she knew that rest was just as important as exercise.
Jasmine got up on her own two feet and dusted herself off before grabbing her sneakers. She plucked her headphones out of her ears and stuffed them in her pocket before slowly approaching, watching the male with curious eyes. There was another girl close by. Blonde, big green eyes. She seemed familiar; Yuuei, maybe, but Jasmine was positive she wasn't from their class. She glanced at her, making eye-contact temporarily. Jasmine greeted her by way of a warm smile before continuing her approach towards Ryuu.
She stopped in front of the rock he sat on, glancing up at him. She waved a hand to get his attention, "Hey!" She called out before pointing to the rock, "mind if I join you?"

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings He was meditanting, like he always did at that beach. He had never been disturbed before but, with Yuuei now open near the area, he knew that it would be hard to keep that streak going. Apparentely, that day was today.
He heard feminine voice coming from below. A voice he recognized, somehow. Someone from his previous school? Please not that..., he was thinking. He would much rather that the person was someone from Yuuei. He opened his eyes slowly, looking at the place from which he thought the voice came from. A lilac-eyed girl with long blonde hair, probably al ittle shorter than Ryuu himself. He remembeed her face and name from classes: she was a 1-A classmate, Jasmine Noir. It was a unique name, so Ryuusei was able to remember it easily.
Hey Jasmine - he said in his cold voice - Sure, let me get down.
Saying that, he got up from the rock and jumped off. He landed right in front of the girl, his almost dark-gold hair covering a little of his same colored eyes. Interacting to people wasn't his cup of tea, but right now even that seemed better than being lost on his own thoughts. Would be able to make conversation without seeming distant and uninterested? That he didn't know, nor did he want to give much thought.
What are you doing here this late?

Miku texted her guardian back not to worry about her and that she's fine. Just as she looked up from the phone and saw a blonde girl with lilac eyes. Miku saw that she looked familiar. Maybe she saw her at UA? Perhaps? She sure didnt know. But when she saw that, she and the girl made eye contact, and that the blonde girl smiled to her, Miku just did the most polite thing she could think of. Nervously smile and wave to her.
Miku saw the girl was approaching the boy, so she just left the two alone and gave them privacy by looking at her phone. She texted her guardian, and she answered his last question Lil'P: I'm scared. I cant approach anyone
Her guardian replied. And everytime he did, she mentally rolled her eyes when she saw his online username. He was so...childish. She appreciated it before, but now it just infuriated her. 420GucciGang: Why are you scared of approaching anyone?! Just walk up to them and say Hello
Miku just bit her lip. She glanced at the boy and the girl that were there on the beach. And then she looked back at her phone and typed Lil'P: How can I know they're good? What if they lie to me?
Because of him. Because her guardian, her father figure, the person she trusted and looked up to, lied to her her whole life. She developed trust issues. That along with her shyness made it impossible for her to approach anyone ever again. And apparently from the next message she got. That became clear even to him. 420GucciGang: Oh....oh...Its because of me. I get it how it is. I'll stop now. Goodbye
And with that, the text messaging stopped. She put the phone in her backpack. Miku just sighed sadly and just considered about leaving. "Maybe I should just go to my dorm. And just focus on school stuff" Miku thought She thought that perhaps she doesnt need friends. Maybe she could become a Hero alone. The thoughts she had were... depressing. She never felt that way before. She decided to maybe stay at the beach for at least 5 more minutes before leaving, because...she felt that the trip was ruined.

His ears caught sound not far off as he jerked the fishing rod in both hands. Twisting it as something seemed to grip onto his line just as things became apparent others were out here even at this hour. He snorted only peering out from the slight edge of his hood to see perhaps youngins not far off conversing. He allowed a hefty breath to leave his lips in a sigh not caring much for foreign company. He gripped the pole with both hands though as a heavy cough took his lips briefly. Coughing out a bit of fluid and spitting it out to the sand at the side of his rock.
He yanked and twisted the rod before it became immediately apparent whatever he had snagged wasn't just some small fish for meat. He heard a light crack upon the old rod as the bamboo design began to give into the immense force. With a heavy slam of his fist he'd embed the rod hard into the beach as best he could in some tougher areas of ground wedging it between two rocks. He'd begin then wading out to the water near the point of where the line had met the water a good twenty thirty feet out. His tentacle like arms with the aid of a pair of daggers aided him in his little venture to what he had snagged.
It was only twenty minutes later when down at his edge of the beach he was seen emerging from the water yet again like some monster of the sea. Dragging a shark up from beach that had his arms wrapped around it as if a stretchy style rope before pulling them away. He'd appear if anyone was looking to pull something from its mouth some form of large meat and toss it to the water beyond where it sank with a quick plop and ripples of water moving about. The mangled arm was from one of their victims and he wondered if it would provide good bait. He had removed a ring from the finger he missed earlier and pocked it as he pulled up the scarred creature slowly. Several cuts up and down its body and its eyes prodded out by the two blades as well. Its lower fin did flap lightly as in some sign it might have still been alive. But it didn't seem to bother him as a smell of blood would quickly carry in the air as he began to clean it slicing its stomach open to start with down the middle as he began to prepare the meat. It wasn't good to waste a kill... He didn't like polluting the sea or destroying it but he still would devour a harvest from it from time to time.

I just wanna swing like Sinatra, singing like I can't stop I just wanna live like the ones before, yeah Jasmine smiled at his greeting, mentally noting how cold he was being. He was always like this, wasn't he? She couldn't exactly remember. It wasn't like the two of them had talked a lot. But whatever. Despite the cold tone he got down and seemed like he wanted to talk. Maybe? She didn't know. This kid was a little weird.
"I'm always out at around this time. Not a lot of people are around this late and I figure that's a perfect time to let out some steam and clear my head, you know?" She explained. Jasmine absolutely hated staying in her room by herself. It was so lonely and just so... uncomfortable. Something she was utterly unused to.
"What about you, though?" She asked, "Seemed like you were meditating or something. Hope I didn't disturb-" before she could actually finish her thought, a strange noise had caught her attention. Something between a growl and a heavy cough - she couldn't really tell the difference. Quickly turning over her shoulder, she quirked a brow at the...peculiar sight she saw.
Was somebody - no, something - freaking fishing at the beach? As far as she knew that wasn't exactly allowed. More so that- wait, was he actually stepping into the water?
"What in the-" Jasmine instantly hopped to her feet and burst into a sprint towards the ocean, her eyes searching for the strange man. It seemed he had hooked something pretty large and went in for the kill. Shit, she didn't know how effective her explosions would be in the water. And-
For what seemed like the umpteenth time, Jasmine's thought process was once again cut off when the man emerged from the water. Holding a shark. A fucking shark. Are you fucking kidding me? He started skinning it in the middle of the beach. Red flag. A severed arm came flying out. Final red flag.
Steeling herself, Ember walked up to the strange man, "Oi, sir, I'm going to have to ask you to step back from the shark."

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings I understand that. - he responded - Yeah, I was-
Before he couldn't finish his own reply, something happened. Something that also made Jasmine herself to take a step back. Some strange noises were coming from near the water, a little far from where they both stood but, at the same time, perfectely audible.
From what Ryuu could see from a far there was a man - or, at least, some kind of creature - fishing in the sea. Nothing unusual about that, at least for Ryuu. Jasmine seemed to think otherwise. When the man jumped inside the water, Jas was quick to run to the shore. Ryuusei stood quiet for sometime, just looking at the girl running while the fisherman was underwater. From what he could see of the man from that distance, his seemed to have some kind of mutation Quirk. So, if he hopped into the water, it was because he knew he could do that. Seeing the blonde girl recting so quickly to that, just left Ryuu thinking one thing...
"He's... just fishing"
However, he decided to follow the girl. Slowly, of course - no way that he was running just for that. When he arrived next to Jas, the man came from the water... dragging a shark, and a big one. He started to skin it in the middle of the beach. A weird choice of place, Ryuu thought.
The man could just be a homeless guy. Even though he had the appeareance of an octupus he seemed way older than both of the students. That with the fact that he didn't seem human at all could mean that he was forced to go away from society, being excluded during the time that Quirckers were heavily seen in a bad light. Fishing like that could be his only way of survival... Didn't Jas thought about that possibility?
Standing next to her, hands on his pockets, he awaited for the octupus guy to answer her. Ryuu reluctantly added something though.
Yeah... What she said.
He didn't quite agree with the approach, but there wasn't nothing that he could do now.

Miku sighed and got up, ready to leave. She felt she stayed at the beach for long enough. As she turned around, ready to leave, she heard a noise, just...just a noise, she didnt even know how to describe what it was. Out of curiosity, she turned back and saw a octopus...man... fishing?...What? She was just so confused. But, this was a beach, could people fish here? Nah, no way, that's impossible. Wait, no.. the man was stepping in the water? "So he's going swimming?" Miku thought "But wait..why am I staring? That's rude. If he's just going in the water to swim?"
While she was confused and lost in thought, she saw the blonde girl run towards the octopus man. Miku didnt want to get involved, not yet at least. She watched the scene unfold. But now looking at the octopus man, he didnt go for a swim, he was fishing...and it looked like he got something big. And as the octopus man got out, Miku saw what he caught was.....A SHARK!?!?!
Miku saw the blonde approached the octopus man and told him that he should step away from the shark. She didnt even notice that the boy arrived beside the blonde
Miku just slowly backed away. Whatever this was, she didnt want to be caught up in it just yet. "Best bet is to just watch this unfold. I'd probably make things worse. And and if things get worse without me. Then I could jump in and assist in...whatever this is. Although...this is a beach, which has sand. While I do have my seeds with me. Sand...is not very fertile soil and my plant choices would be very limited and...weak."
She was hesitant to approach this as she felt that the other two had this situation under control. Not to mention if it came to a battle. Her quirk would not be very powerful. Sand is not an ideal medium for growing plants, it can be used to successfully grow a number of different plant species. But the disadvantage of sand as a growth medium,is the inability to retain water and nutrients. Miku now hoped that things wouldnt get aggressive.

He ignored them for the most part at first his hands moving within the large shark his four hands digging at its insides slicing and scooping out innards. Gutting it surprised the bait had actually worked. It was something he'd been tempted to try for sometime and it wasn't like the owner of said arm was actually gonna be needing it now.
The smell of blood now stronger then ever filling in the air. His clothes were thin layers of cloth that stuck lightly to his cold lightly slimy skin. He eventually pulled out the other ring he was missing from the hand from the creatures stomach pocketing it as well. He'd wondered if the shine might have helped attract as much as the blood and if it was lost it would have been no big issue. He coughed lightly feeling the fresh air begin to fill his lungs. The quick change from breathing water to breathing air had a way of being lightly rough to his body now and again. He sneered and let out a heavy sigh and light groan as a old man raising his head just lightly from under his hood. The light ends of tentacles sticking out moving a bit naturally. He didn't say anything he simply seemed to peer at them in silence. A bit of annoyance and dark intensity between them in this moment.

I just wanna swing like Sinatra, singing like I can't stop I just wanna live like the ones before, yeah The fact that she was ignored was irritating. No. The fact that this weird ass octopus looking motherfucker flat out disregarded her existence pissed Jasmine the fuck off. First of all, this was a public beach. Fishing here was not fucking allowed. And a shark? She was pretty sure those things were endangered on some level. More so ripping the damn thing open right on this very same public beach? And putting a severed fucking arm on display for everyone to be disgusted and likely traumatized by? No, that would not fucking fly.
Irritated, Jasmine's eyes flashed a dangerous red as she approached the guy. If he wasn't going to listen to reason, she could use some other rather... straightforward methods. She saw the way he sneered at her and Ryuusei. That was danger. That was fine. If he wanted danger he'd fucking get it.
Ignoring her feet getting wet, Jasmine stepped into the water with a surprising swiftness. Extending her arm, she used her strongest explosion on the shark, sending it flying quite a distance back into the water without a singular regard for the octo-dude's reaction.
"That's what fucking happens. Now get the fuck out of here before I call the cops," Jasmine said, glaring at the guy dangerously. Normally she wasn't so commando towards people, but not only was this guy completely disregarding an obvious law, he didn't give a shit about the people enforcing it. Obviously she was no enforcer of the law yet, but she was well in her rights to tell the guy that the shit he was doing wasn't right. And if he had a problem with it, well... she could always use her quirk in self-defense. Just give her a reason.
Fuck, she hoped she'd have a reason. Smashing a face in was always the best stress reliever.

Aww, more dead threads. Alas.
Jasmine: +14 XP Miku: +4 XP Ryuusei: +5 XP Khal: +5XP
Jasmine got the lion's share (get it) here with that +1000 word post, but I still cut everyone's experience because the thread was left off without a resolution. Which is a real shame, since a group thread is always good fun. Keep up the good work nonetheless, and hopefully there will be more finished threads from all of you in the future!
