The break was great. As much as she liked keeping busy, things had been getting too hectic that she ended up missing out on some of her usual routines. At least that's how it felt towards the end of the school year. So today and including the past week or so she was glad that she could take her usual morning jog around campus. In just a few days she would be entering her second year in UA. Her months of playing the precocious freshman were at an end. It was about time she put on her senior cap again for the incoming batch and back to the old standard of being the one relied upon by underclassmen. As always she was out and about while it was still very dark. Just a few lamp post kept the paths going around UA lit. It was a sight not many would see given how practically everyone else was asleep at this time. She could probably count on two hands all the instances that she ran into someone else at this hour, with some exceptions. For instance she knew that if she headed to club rooms, there was a decent chance to run into one of the more diligent members doing an early morning workout. The first time that happened, she met Darren at the martial arts room. Sometimes she would adjust her time and do her jog a little bit later. In this case Yumi would be able to join her for it. The redhead was also an early riser but preferred to have at least a bit of sun out. Well they wouldn't be able to do that anymore this year as Yumi had moved to a residence outside of campus. When that happened it sort of didn't feel right staying in the same room so she asked for a transfer to the first floor. It was more convenient that way. But she would definitely miss having a roommate. The new incoming students might change that though. She was certainly open if any were interested in rooming together. She checked her watch briefly. It was just passed 4 am and she was already a little more than halfway through her typical jogging course. She had started a little earlier so this was to be expected. With sunrise still far away, she thought about getting something warm when she returned as it was rather chilly that morning. Spring was upon them but it was still pretty cold. She was looking forward to being able to take her jogs while wearing lighter clothing in the months to come.

It hadn't taken Airi long to regress back into her old habits when the break started. It was almost morning and she was still awake, just lying in bed eating pocky whilst staring at her tiny phone. She had scrolled and scrolled through social media and other sites for hours on end, looking for something to read or watch that would kill her boredom but nothing really scratched that itch. Eventually, she just gave up on finding anything. Checking the time, she was surprised to see how late she had stayed up and for nothing, at that. " not tired though.." She muttered to herself, questioning the decision-making that led her to this. Maybe she should go for a walk.
Stepping outside, Airi took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh air she seldom felt. It felt a lot nicer to be outside when nobody around. There was just something so enjoyable about being able to look up at the sky without worrying about other people interrupting your peace. Being alone in her dorm was way worse. So many negative thoughts would run through her head, it just wasn't a place where she could relax. She had to be doing something in that room and it had to distract her from her thoughts.. Outside though.. it was so nice. After taking a second to put in her earbuds and shuffle to a playlist she felt like listening, Airi walked forward onto the path.
Her third year was starting soon... She hadn't really accomplished much, had she? In a little over a year, she had barely made progress with her quirk and unlike a lot of the other students, she hadn't developed into a unique fighting style. There was nothing that made her stand out. She had a wistful expression on her face. This year was it.. She had to make her mark now. No more shenanigans. She needed to focus.
Airi, still deep in thought, had to take a few seconds to register a peculiar girl jogging towards her. "Someone's up at this time too?" Not paying attention, her foot hit a snag in the path, tripping her. "Oww.." She mumbled, having fallen face-first into the pavement. "Fuck." Great. She just had to go and trip right after getting all serious about doing the best she could. It was just like her to do something that embarrassing in front of a stranger too. "You're such an idiot Airi."

She wasn't expecting it. Running into someone at this hour was enough of a rarity that she didn't really keep an eye out, turning her attention to other things in her surroundings. The cool morning breeze, the night sky, the rustle of trees - there were a lot of distractions around as she went about her jog. So when the lone figure that suddenly appeared finally registered in her sights, it wasn't until after they had already tripped that Karen rushed over to help them up. At the back of her head, if she had been more attentive she might have been able to catch them before they hit the ground. "Are you alright?"She would ask before realizing that was a silly question. Of course they weren't. It was quite the face plant. She offered a hand to help the girl up while she reached into her pocket for a handkerchief to lend. "Here, you can use this."She didn't have band aids or anything, but something the girl could use to wipe their face was better than nothing. Speaking of which, Karen didn't recognize the stranger upon getting a closer look. She was certain it wasn't someone from her class. She had just assumed that with how young the girl seemed it was probably a fellow first year or, well, incoming second year. The new first years weren't going to show up until next week or so. If they had been already around, it would have confused Karen even more. "There's a bench over there if you want to sit down for a bit. Unless you want to just head back to the dorms? Let me walk with you."If she was making a bit of a fuss it was because she thought she could have prevented that little accident. A real hero would have been able to. She was going to be a second year soon so she really ought to be more on top of things. This was carelessness. It was also partly due to feeling a little attachment to a fellow early riser. Imagine if she got a new jogging buddy. She waited until the girl responded before speaking again. "I'm Karen Hoshizora by the way, from 1-A. Though I suppose it's 2-A starting next week. You are...?"Was it going to be 1-B or 1-S? They were a little on the clumsy side so perhaps the latter? Ah, but that assumption was rather rude. They could just be having a bad day after all, early as it was.

"Yes, I'm perfectly fine, obviously."
Quick to respond in a snarky manner, Airi picked herself up from the floor. What a way to start the day. Tripping was one thing, but this really hurt. "Stupid, crappy piece of garbage." She cursed underneath her breath, annoyed at her situation.
Airi winced as she held the side of her face, turning to face the stranger. Who was this girl? A first-year? Airi had never seen her around the school although she didn't make much of an effort at socializing with her fellow students. Still, she felt a little bad, regretting her initial rudeness. It was too early in the morning for her sarcasm and this girl wasn't really guilty of anything except wanting to help.
"Ugh.." She muttered underneath her breath. "I'm fine, thanks for the offer." Everything felt sore and despite her insistence that she was alright, every touch to her face stung like hell. "Oww."
"No, I'm fine, I don't need to sit down or head back, it's not that serious."
Her suspicions were confirmed, this random person was indeed a first-year. Knowing this, a slight blush grew on her face. Airi wasn't particularly clumsy, so it was a little embarrassing that this would be this girl's first impression of her. A student like her that was about to enter their third-year should be able to handle themselves a lot better. Getting offered help by someone in a class before her was a bit of a self-esteem crusher.
"I'm... uh.. Kurusu Airi." The blush grew stronger as she spoke. "I think my next class assignment is 3-B, don't really remember. Nice to meet you I guess, uh.. Hoshizora-san? Sorry, I can't really think straight." Airi winced once more.

Not the friendliest person she had ever met for sure, but at the same time she wondered if it was really the girl or just the pain talking. She was more surprised than offended anyway. If the girl had enough energy to be this snappy then they were probably fine. Probably. That didn't mean Karen would leave them alone though. "You say that but a girl can't be injuring her face. Here, let me see."She would try to get a better look, but the not so ideal lighting situation didn't really help. It didn't seem like there was any bleeding, but there was a reddish tinge and signs of swelling. There was a chance it might become a bruise later. But pain aside, it seemed the girl was otherwise okay. Karen would be surprised a second time however when they would finally introduce themselves. Kurusu Airi from 3-B - it was an upperclassman. She certainly didn't expect that. She honestly thought Airi was younger than she was but she probably shouldn't judge based on appearances. The girl's condition seemed to be getting worse though as the reddish tone of their faces was starting to become more pronounced. She had to do something. She took the small towel she had over her shoulder and the water bottle on her hip. The contents were still pretty chilled as she had just taken it out from the refrigerator when she left the dorms and wasn't expecting to drink until much later. She then poured some of the icy water on the towel before handing the now wet towel over to Airi. "Please use this Kurusu-senpai. It should help a bit with the pain and the swelling. We really shouldn't just leave it alone. Don't worry, it's definitely clean."She hadn't used it yet at least. Just this much of jogging wasn't going to get her sweating, especially since it was also cold outside. The upperclassman needed it more than she did and she would insist on helping.
