APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
"No. The tattoos are not temporary."
While well-groomed and attractive, the menacing visage of Lee Seo-Yeon (S-uh Y-un) is legendary amongst her peers. Rarely smiling and quick to sneer, Seo-Yeon is what some might call 'stand-offish', 'frosty' or 'unsociable'. Her chestnut hair, usually worn in tight ponytails, flows long down her back, easily reaching the back of her ankles if not put into a bun. The eyes that stare back, severe and cold, are a dark grey colour; they sit below a pair of thin, expressive eyebrows. She often wears a pair of large, gold-coloured loop earrings and a choker, from which dangles a purple crystal.
Her body is petite, granting her a slender, unassuming build. The black outline of a large heart sits on her left shoulder. On her left cheek, a pink heart is tattooed. On the bottom of her forearm is the design of a sharp-toothed jaw clenched around a hunting knife. A multicoloured, coiling dragon is tattooed across the majority of her back, an impressive piece of art that Seo-Yeon is particularly proud of.
The clothes she wears are designed for comfort ahead of fashion, though her recent rise in society has given her more cash to spend on more opulent clothing. She follows a common colour scheme of black and yellow, then red and white, in most of her outfits. It's easy to find her in open jackets; crop tops; vests; tube tops; altered shorts; polo shirts; jeans; etc. One won't ever find Seo-Yeon wearing anything resembling a dress. When out on duty, she wears tight-fitting reinforced leather that is purposed to not hinder her movement while still providing ample protection.

Perhaps the first thing one notices about Seo-Yeon when they speak to her is her arctic gaze. She is not a woman who caters for the sensitive or coddles the weak-hearted. Forthright in her beliefs, with the overwhelming confidence to match, she is a formidable presence in any room she inhabits. Quick to take charge in most situations, she uses a keen, trained mind to assign tasks efficiently and to the people she thinks would most effectively accomplish those tasks - she is a natural-born leader. Lee Seo-Yeon has a slight quirk in the way she speaks; often without meaning to, she will roll her r's, or suddenly increase her volume. This is a vestigial characteristic from her delinquent days when she was a teenager that carried over into adulthood. She finds this a little embarrassing. Treating her with any form of disrespect is an easy way to be given a bit of percussive maintenance. She doesn't enjoy having her time wasted and especially hates when someone acts strong without strength to back it up.
Due to her aggressive and distant ways, Seo-Yeon is hard to approach, but she isn't foreign to friendships and is happy to find companions amongst her age group. The way she acts to her friends is notably similar to how she acts normally, but there are clear differences in how much she's willing to take from her friends compared to strangers. It's her belief that her unassuming stature means she has to shout twice as loud, fight twice as hard and drink twice as much as everyone else to be respected. She is a drinker and a smoker, though making efforts to cut down and eventually quit.
In battle, Seo-Yeon is a ferocious combatant. She believes that honour, dignity and fairness have no place in a real fight and is willing to use dirty tactics and improvised weapons anywhere outside of a spar. She'll follow rules if they are set but is not afraid to bend them to the point of breaking for the sake of an advantage. Her determination is perhaps her greatest weapon. Sheer resilience and the utter refusal to back down or relent makes her terrifying to the opposition and, even when she's down, they must deal with the fear that she could rise straight up from the dirt for another round. Despite her delinquent nature, she is not unintelligent, having studied various weapon-fighting techniques and adapted them into her own amalgamated style - a testament to the philosophy of continuous self-improvement.
HISTORY
Lee Seo-Yeon was born in the wretched slums of Busan to a pair of destitute parents on Sunday, March 6 in 2039. Both of them lived terrible lives, but tried their utmost to do right by their now four children. Seo-Yeon was and is the youngest of her family and has three older siblings. Her childhood home was a dank, one-floor apartment with very little space and barely enough bedrooms. She went without food often as a girl - but she was always the resourceful sort, helping around the house and doing her part. Her early school days were bent around studying. Seo-Yeon struggled to find friends as she was usually poorly dressed and groomed, leading to her getting teased by the other children.
This changed as she transitioned into her teenage years. As she got older, Seo-Yeon found herself shouldering more burdens for her parents and her lazier siblings, who'd usually pass their duties to her. The increased pressure didn't seem to bother the girl. But while she presented herself as the caring, doting daughter, the weight of the world eventually caused her to snap. On an especially hard day, having slept very little the night before, a classmate decided to insult Seo-Yeon in a way she couldn't forgive. She went to slap the classmate, but was shocked as what struck them was a short rod of black metal. After the usual things that happen when the usually quiet child assaults another child in class - detentions and such - Seo-Yeon got tested for her quirk. As it turned out, she was an Emitter. One who could craft shapes from an unusual metal using just the air around her. It was magnificent. Any other child would have been ecstatic. Seo-Yeon merely saw the darker uses of her quirk. When she returned to class, it seemed the other students had grown to respect, or fear, her. Suited Seo-Yeon just fine. Thus began her career as a Sukeban, or the female leader of a group of delinquents. She had these troublemakers to call friends. Usual victims to bring her money on a usual basis. She'd threaten others with a club, made from her quirk, though she'd never actually hurt anyone. She'd say there was no sport in beating on the unarmed. It was around this time she began classes and independent study on weapons and the styles built around them. The history of it all fascinated her. By the time she was 16, Seo-Yeon has a strong grasp of weaponry and an... effective knowledge of how to use them.
Then she had a run-in with a villain. They were being chased by a vigilante and found themselves running into one of the alleyways Seo-Yeon and her gang would loiter in. That day, however, Seo-Yeon was alone. The villain, a disgruntled man with teeth all over his body, told Seo-Yeon that if she didn't hide him, he'd kill her. Foolishly, she decided to fight, but the villain was stronger and faster - quickly beating her down. Her life was close to its close. Bleeding harder than ever before in her life, on the edge of death, the villain laughing at the weak display, Seo-Yeon felt her vision fade. But no. She refused. With a ferocious roar, the girl, barely 16, stood back up and rejoined the fray. If she was to die, she'd do it on her feet, not underfoot. The villain was about to finish her off when the vigilante finally appeared and soundly defeated him while he was distracted. The vigilante was not impressed with Seo-Yeon, calling her a coward for just standing there while they fought. It was confusing. Humiliating. Infuriating. Her body seized with rage. She would've given the vigilante a piece of her mind, if the police didn't show up just a moment later. She watched the vigilante flee. And with her final conscious thought, she vowed to never become allow anyone else to call her a coward again. No one would ever look down on her. No one would ever call her weak or bring her to her knees.
When she'd finally finished school, it was time to move on. Her training surpassed her interest in exams, so she flunked pretty hard. But by a stroke of luck and genius, suggested by her now-retired mother, she obtained a scholarship at a Japanese university for her prodigal grasp of literature. Lee Seo-Yeon had other ideas so while she happily travelled the way to Japan and took residence in Tokyo, she quickly worked her body ragged with intense weapon training.
In 2073, when Professional Heroism had become an actual occupation, Seo-Yeon was among the first to begin studying and aiming to earn her Hero's License. By this time, she was too old to attend the newly erected Hero School, so her work was slow. But her impressive skill with weapons and her indomitable attitude outshone her less-determined peers. On February of 2074, Lee Seo-Yeon had become a full-fledged Pro-Hero; nicknamed Jabberwock for her favourite literary creature. Now she prowls the backstreets of Tokyo, showing no mercy to those who'd prey on the weak or exploit the goodness of others.
Though... her violent nature and terribly brash manner make it hard to believe she's a hero...
