Today was going to be the day. Today she was going to finally commit a crime in broad daylight. “Okay Emi, you got this, easy job.” Emi told herself as she hid behind the corner of a building, looking around warily for people passing by. She peeked from the corner, spying on a small but decadently decorated jewelry store across the street. “All you have to do is go in, scare the customers and staff a bit, handle anyone feeling brave enough to mess with a criminal, smash the display cases open, and steal everything inside them.” She told herself, the monologue helping her arrange her thoughts and plan out her crime. She had been waiting for the best time to start her smash and grab operation, debating internally whether she should go in when there were more people or less people. She had settled on more people and the moment the customers inside had reached nine she reached into her backpack, pulled out a smooth blank white mask, and walked to the jewelry store with a brisk pace.
“Good morning ladies and gentlemen!” She announced as she stepped into the store, tried to look as menacing as she could for someone in a simple dress, blank mask, and purple backpack. “My name is War Crime, and I will be robbing you all today.” A hand touched the door behind her, lighting it with a strange bright flame and colored toxic smoke. “Wallets and phones in a neat pile on the floor and no one make any funny movements or else.” She motioned to the door as her example. “And I’d recommend you cover your mouths with both hands.” She added, smiling cheerfully behind her mask. ‘So far so good, Emi, now all I have to do is gather the goods in my bag and be on my way.”
