Any other day and the dark alleys of the Musutafu shopping district would have been filled with people. Any other day conversation would have traveled across bars and bistros, brothels and bingo halls. Any other day; and silence would not have begun to slowly creep into the atmosphere-sucking all life from the world as one went deeper and deeper into the alleys. But this was not any other day; and the slow descent into the eerily silent alleys was so steady, so gradual, that one didn't notice until it was too late. By then, though, there was no escape. Not for the poor girl being lured by her nose into terrible danger.
The outer alleys were lively that late Wednesday night. People milled between them and the major streets without much care. Dive bars were open to the brave and a few ballsy brothels were beginning to send their employees out into the world. Further into the alleys were the 'sticks' as some called them. Sections of the city that were a bit less safe for travel but were home to some of the more exciting and interesting restaurants and shops. By now the quiet had begun to show itself a little, fewer people were outside milling about and a few shops had even shuttered early. Yet the address the woman had been given lead her further, further into the city to a place few without connection to the underworld traveled.
Here, among the shadows, as the last street light flickered and died, a new light came into being. It passed into the alley she stood in; a pale ghost brimming with white light. The figure was feminine, elegant, beautiful, her hair flowing around her as if caught in an unseen wind. Her body glittered and shimmered in a way that made her exact proportions indistinct. She was alone, but something in the air hinted that there might be more dangerous people nearby. The glowing figure came to a complete stop; meters away from the woman who entered the alley. The figure crossed her arms behind her back, pink eyes glowing bright against the white of her glowing and glittering skin.
"Hatsumomo," The figure spoke, her voice was cold, cruel, with a hissing rasp that accompanied the use of a respirator. "I'm glad you could make it all the way out here to see me..." The figure bowed, "I am Ishtar." | TAG WORDS NOTES

She had tried to not go out late at night anymore, mostly because well she had enough work to do and she would either go home with the work or any other solution that she could find. But that was not really an option when she got a text from Nessarose that she needed help and therefore the eldest sister headed out to find her sister. She had been so smart to send her location through the text message so Hatsumomo could follow her phone to find Nessarose. Why was she out there in some alleys here in Musutafu and why also at this hour? She would have a strict conversation with her prettier sister. She was probably dumped or something and was now crying as if she was murdered and Hatsumomo snickered to herself. Okay, it was not nice to have a heart broken but her lovesick sister would definitely have a new boyfriend by the end of next week. Though this one she had to hold on to quite for a while, it was very impressive.
She finally reached the right alley and put her phone away. She looked around for Nessarose but she didn't see her, further into the alley. Hatsumomo wished she had thought about her own solution for this but fine, she had run to her younger sister's rescue and she thought she saw her in the light but the light was too bright to eventually be from a phone flashlight or anything else and she took a few more steps closer and in the end shielded her eyes a little but as Momo had stopped the light person came to her and when her eyes adjusted she could definitely see it was not Nessa and a shiver went down her spine when the woman spoke her name. How-how did she know her name? She shivered even more because of the sound of the voice and she started to panic. Her heart was racing, her eyes trying to find Nessa, this must be a joke or something. Ishtar.
She was sure she had heard the name somewhere, Shinagawa? She had a few information sources, namely her colleagues from U.A. and so on. She wasn't sure, there was something else but she knew this was bad business that was for sure. "W-where is my sister?" She gripped her phone in the pocket of her jacket. Ha, Nessa was her speed dial so that wouldn't work. She took a step back and looked over her shoulder, she should run.

Ishtar watched her hand shift, her glowing eyes narrowed and she canted her head to the side; as if daring the girl to use the device she was reaching for. The woman took a step back; she could try to run. Certainly. But it would amount to nothing in the end. What manner of foolishness would bring someone to turn their back on a potentially hostile party? Ishtar restrained a smile and spoke instead; "Don't be an idiot, put your phone on the ground. I know how the panic function on your device works..." I helped design it after all she thought, holding back a sharp laugh. "...lay it on the ground and kick it to me. Then we can talk about Nessarose, mm?" She offered, pointing at the ground at her feet.
She waited a few heartbeats before clearing her throat; "Now, Hatsumomo. This is not a request," She emphasized, taking a few steps forward. The glow around her grew a bit more intense. If the light reached any further it would begin to cause symptoms. Vertigo, dizziness, nausea, weakness, the list went on. The consequences of being exposed to Ishtar's quirk were many fold. It was up to this woman to have sense. Ishtar's breath came out in a rattly hiss as her respirator expelled air. She crossed her arms behind her back and let her glowing eyes spin once, then twice, the low whirr of tiny motors loud enough to be heard in the silence of the alleyway.
When she finally complied, one way or the other, Ishtar would draw a cellphone out of her pocket. "Your sister is alive and is safe. For the time being. I have taken great pains to ensure that she is not harmed nor is she traumatized by the experience. To her; this will all seem like a sudden and exciting vacation. As long as you behave yourself, Hatsumomo. Cross me, and her circumstances can change very very quickly," Ishtar clarified. | TAG WORDS NOTES

She was shaking now, visibly the green woman shook. She nodded, she wasn't an idiot and constantly asking what to do and what to think and how would the others react? Itsuki? Toby? What would all the teachers at U.A. do if it were them? Probably push the button and fight this woman. But what about Nessa? Where was she? She put her phone on the ground, she quickly kicked it to the villain when she said she would explain something about Nessarose, shit. Shit, no. She wanted to cry but she had to be strong for Nessa. For the others, where was her brother? Where was her father? Her mother? Could she just be that darn Christmas tree and laugh at it when she last saw her father face to face. Now they called but she had been a bad daughter okay!
Not a request. Nothing was a request when someone's life was at stake. Heck, she wished she was in a horror movie, then the credits eventually would roll in. Just kill her on the spot, the nerves were killing her. She was frozen and couldn't move when the woman walked forward. She had to close her eyes because the light was horrible to look at. It made her feel fear, guilt, and so much more that she could not stand it. She opened her eyes when she heard some creaking and cracking, no idea what was going on. She did not like how close the villain stood or that she had no phone and could not-could not call anyone. She would not even dare to push the button for emergencies. She would not dare to do anything. Itsuki... What would you do? She wished he came, she wished so hard she would almost believe it. That joke that she would protect him from the fangirls, ha. If only that was true. She had never thought, this would happen to her. She nodded through, okay Nessa thought this was all a surprise holiday, okay, yay or something like that, "And-and what is it that you want from me?" What could she possible provide, she had nothing special, she was nothing special... She was only green.

Hatsumomo wisely put the phone down on the ground and kicked it over to her. She was shaking visibly; all the more clear with Ishtar's glowing eyes giving her perfect vision beyond the glow of her body. She strode in closer and put her foot down atop the phone, not stepping hard but holding it in place for a moment. She didn't bother to reach down or pick it up; just kept it under her foot until her business was done. She checked her own phone one more time and nodded. "Smart girl, very smart girl, I'm glad you can be obedient," She smiled, "We have a lot to accomplish together. I'm looking forward to working with you, dearie," She sneered and took one more step forward, putting Hatsumomo just out of range of her passive quirk. If Ishtar flared up now; the woman would likely be rendered helpless in moments.
She put her own phone in her pocket; "Your sister will be returning home soon, I have no intention of holding her from you. You, instead, will be wise enough to understand that I can find you or her, no matter how hard you try to hide from me. If you fail me, you, Hatsumomo, will live on," She let the veiled threat hang in the air for a moment before cocking her head to the right.
"Now that we understand one another! Let's talk business," She chirped, stepping to the right and walking around Hatsumomo, keeping out of that danger range for the girl. She didn't want to debilitate her, yet. "You have one job, to feed me information. I know you are studying the psychological condition of the students at UA. I know that you are privy to the hard-copy data that is not stored on their internal servers. I also know that you could use better research materials. You don't want to be a secretary forever, do you?" She asked, her cruel smile twisting on her face; "What I'm offering you here is a choice. Get me that information, the hard copies, the psych reports, all of it. A little at a time. Keep an eye out for students that are...high risk... and tell me," She continued.
"Do this willingly, work with me, and I will shower you with gifts and you never have to worry for your family again," She said, "Or, I could hold your family hostage without them even knowing. The choice is ultimately yours, but you will do this for me one way or the other," Ishtar said, her words ending like the sound of a guillotine dropping. | TAG WORDS NOTES

Never had she thought that this would happen to her. And her mind was making circles in why this was happening, if this was a nightmare or anything. She wasn't sure, she couldn't figure it out, it was too scary, too much of anything. She didn't know what to do, it was just... just not real. Wake-up, she thought to herself, Wake-up now. Wake-up! Do something, she moved her hands in front of her, obviously empty, obviously just there to hold on to her own, she pinched the skin of her wrist. Nothing happened, it just felt how it always did. The leathery skin not that vulnerable to pinching but she felt it, which meant one thing; she wasn't in a nightmare. She was in the harsh truth. She did not want to be obedient, she wanted to scream and cry and hide behind someone. Some tall man with a hero outfit, something simply. Someone she would dare to trust. She watched Ishtar, there was obvious fear in her eyes. She wasn't stupid after all.
She nodded, Nessa should stay indoors for the rest of that, when this was handled. But her own plan simply got shut down after that. Not only was it obvious that Ishtar knew where to find every one, but she would be the only one left alive. She wanted to make a sound, but her throat was dried and shut, so no sound came out. Business, right. There was something this woman wanted from her, that was obvious. Why else take her sister? She followed her with her eyes, but trying to remain still, so she couldn't see Ishtar when she was behind her. Feed information? She froze even more, how did she know? H-how? She did not tell anyone that, she well, obviously her friends and family knew she worked there but why first kidnap Nessarose to only hope it would be useful. Obviously, the government knew too but why.. why now? She bit her lip, she was fine with her secretary job, U.A. had enough to do but her speciality was psychology, but she did not want to take Mosa's job. She nodded when Ishtar finished her words. If she did not, she would be left alone, she would be the only one alive and she felt like crying. She simply couldn't, that is what happened where you were in shock.
All she could do was nod her head to make it known to the villain that she would do it.

It was a small triumph, but a triumph never the less. A lesser villain would have gloated; it seemed like a pleasurable thing to do at the very least. Savor the victory and let the misery of the conquered be a fuel for future battles. All the pure terror on Momo's face, her eyes filled with a mixture of grief and dejection. Terror gave rise to hopelessness, which gave rise to failure. A lesser villain would have simply enjoyed the moment. Ishtar was not a lesser villain. The glowing woman raised a hand and snapped her fingers. "I'll take your silence as consent, good to have you aboard Hatsumomo," A single man in a simple suit strode in. His face was well hidden behind a plain white mask, he bowed at the hip to the UA secretary before putting a metal suitcase in front of the woman and stepping away.
"Everything you need is in there, it has been through what amounts to a decontamination screening. You will not find any information or evidence on it beyond what is inside," Ishtar added casually, watching the man disappear into the shadows. When Hatsumomo left with the case she would find more than just some instructions. A sizeable, almost nauseating, cash payment would be waiting for her. A burner cell with a chat function. A small pamphlet with instructions and contacts that she can use for her own work and research. And finally; a gun. To use as she needed. She'd have to wait to open it, because Ishtar was not interested in dragging things out forever. She cleared her throat; "Once you open that, you are committed, dearie," Ishtar warned, a cruel glint in her eyes.
Ishtar seemed to pause a bit, her head tilting a little as if listening to something; "Your sister has been returned, unharmed. I do hope you will be wiser than the last person I asked to comply... they wanted to tell everyone..." The villain began to turn away; "...we couldn't have that. This is between you and me. Do well, and I will reward you beyond your imaginings. Heavens, you might even come to enjoy this work..." Ishtar added, turning away completely and walking into the shadows. "...just keep an open mind, dearie. I can be very reasonable..." With that, the villain vanished into the darkness of the streets; her unholy pale white glow seeming to vanish with her. | TAG WORDS NOTES

Words could not describe how she felt and therefore, words could not follow what she had to say. Hatsumomo remained silent, there was a lump in her throat, fear in her veins and so on. She did not know what to do, what to say, she was trapped, there were no ways out. There was nothing, she would never be free of stuff like this and thus words could not say or mean anything to her. Nessa. It was all Momo's fault and she would have to do whatever to protect Nessarose. She flinched a little with the snapping of Ishtar's fingers and all she could do was nod. She looked at the suitcase that was brought and placed next to her and she followed the man who left. She could not imagine, she did not want to imagine that people like them or Ishtar really existed. What had she done to deserve this?
She nodded again, she had not expected otherwise. She did not want to commit, but she could not avoid it anyway and all the woman could do was look at the suitcase and nod, she could listen obviously. She lifted up her eyes when she heard the footsteps. Through her thick eyelashes, Hatsumomo watched Ishtar leave and again she felt a sob escape her throat, she could not tell anyone or Nessarose would be taken again and how and she would be the only one left to tell the tale and who would believe her? No, worse, who would even know who Ishtar was? There would be no justice, she would have to comply. She took the suitcase and returned home. She did fear the inside of that thing and it took her hours before she finally opened it and stare at it. She was sure Ishtar knew that it was opened. There was no way back.
