This was... unexpected. Well, unexpected was quite an understatement! Elise couldn't help but smile as Merlin happily waltzed back and forth around the room that Kaito had rented for them to practice for the upcoming event. Indeed, while the lessons were already over for the day, Merlin had seemingly little interest in resting. No, she was borderline bouncing around the room with energy.
"Meister~ Meister~ Let us practice again!"
Elise chuckled at the Kitsune's remark and rose up from her seat while she answered the energetic companion. "Fine~ Fine~ However, once we finish we really should go to the grocery store, else we won't have much choice for dinner..." Hearing the warning the foxy lady's eyes widened in disbelief. "Nonono! That's bad news! I want my Spaghetti with cheese sauce and minced meat tonight!" Well, she was awfully specific about what they were going to eat tonight, wasn't she? Then again, some practice wouldn't hurt either of them. Taking a deep breath Elise closed her eyes, it was almost like a certain ritual for her, after all she was not an ordinary practitioner of dance and music. For her to be able to perform she needed to go somewhere, a world of music and emotions, that landscape that she adored so much in the depth of her heart. Meanwhile Merlin had already pressed a button on the device near the wall as a familiar tune started playing.
It was that song, the very first song she had written, a song that carried a very special and emotional meaning to her. Tap... tap... already her feet were starting to move, light sways of her body following as Merlin cheered excitedly and bounced over.
"Many different sounds flow out from within me,
They’re not all beautiful, but a kind melody from somewhere
Blends in with my new dreams and tears in a concerto"
Indeed, a song of the heart, one that was so fitting for someone like her. As the lyrics left her lips Merlin joined her in a duet, her movements seemingly matching her owner in perfect unison, not that difficult if one knew the secret behind her existence.
Has it been slumbering all this time?
The passion within my heart
"Please wake up" I've realized that's what you called out to me that day
As the words flowed so smoothly from her lips, Elise felt as if the room they were in faded away, the colorful landscape of dreams and emotions surrounding her. There was no doubt that the strength of her emotions, the passion of her songs was all born from that one bond, that one relationship that she treasured the most.
Although I face the keyboard alone, but,
It can feel it… I’m not alone
Our feelings are always connected, aren’t they?
I can put my faith in that,
That's why I can try anything I wish without fear
And become stronger
Indeed, even as she sang, it was clear that just from listening to her and watching her expression, that Elise carried such immense joy within her, a feat only made possible because she had Tetsuko at her side. Indeed, her beloved childhood friend. How far had they come since the day she first expressed her feelings?
Although my body trembles with nervousness, I head towards the promised place that awaits me
I inhale deeply and take a large step forward
It was not a journey without bumps in the road, no far from it. They had their fair share of problems, but their love for each other allowed them to overcome those time after time.
If I calmly and slowly

With a smile, I’ll play an arpeggio and become free
Indeed, even Merlin could feel the seemingly limitless affection her master held for that person, how she seemed to dance and sing with such passion and joy merely by thinking about her. It was in a way, magical and yet so endearing.
I want to envelop you in a world of music
Please accept these feelings of mine
I want the sound of my ‘thank you’s to reach you
That’s why I’m playing this melody
It might sound a little too grandiose, but it’s true
So please don’t forget it
A song that showed her gratitude, a melody that expressed just how grateful she was for this blessing. Even as the song started to reach its ending, and her dance started to slow, the kitsune felt herself growing breathless for a moment. This love, this affection, it was well and truly something that she admired, but it also was something that made her feel a bit jealous. A tiny part of her wondered if she could ever feel something similar, something that was her own, a person who made her truly feel similar to how Elise felt for Tetsuko.
Maybe I’ll be able to convey it through the piano, my appreciation for everyone

As the melody ended the kitsune suddenly felt a light flick on her forehead, making her yelp and stagger back a little while at the same time she looked in surprise at Elise who was grinning in amusement at her.
"Ooy~ getting distracted while I'm here dancing and singing? That's surprisingly mean of you~"
the Kitsune paused for a bit, a sheepish smile on her lips. "It's because even during your performance it's clear how much of a love-struck baboon you are for Tetsu~"
After their hearty exchange, the two finished closing up the room and made their way outside, onto the streets of the shopping district of Musutafu.
"Say~ Meister, do you think I'll ever be able to feel like you do?"
The sudden question made Elise pause, looking sideways at the Kitsune while she pondered about her question. "What brings the sudden question?" The lass took a few steps forwards and hummed happily. "Well~ It's clear just how happy you become when you think about Tetsu~ So I was wondering if I ever could feel something like that, something special that is my own, and not something I inherited from you?"
The inquiry made Elise smile gently at the girl, a hand raised to pet the foxy ears on top of the girl's head. "It's not impossible, you might be created similar to a clone, but you are your own being Lyse, someday you'll grow to understand just how powerful and wonderful such feelings can be."

The school year was fast approaching, and Misako would be lying if she said she wasn't starting to get nervous. She'd been trying extra hard to improve herself and be worthy of the position she'd earned... but what if everyone was still better than her? What if she still wasn't good enough? She'd spent so much time dreaming of becoming a hero that the idea of it being snatched from her was terrifying. Wallowing wasn't in her nature though, so she was determined to get out of the house and distract herself. Where better to do that then the shopping district?
It was hard to get anyone to agree to come out shopping with Misa, because she was very easily distracted and tended to play dress up at every store for hours on end. Even other enthusiasts were reluctant to go along with her, she was just that extra. That said, she didn't mind being alone. No, sometimes it was better to be alone with your own thoughts, right?
At least, that's what Misa told herself. She'd been having trouble making friends since she was accepted into U. A. High. It was lonely, but she was determined to stay positive. So she started off with clothes, going from store to store and combining different outfits and the like. It was something she always found fun. She was sure to take pictures of every costume she put together, even though she didn't have anyone to really show them too. Maybe her mom would humor her?
Unfortunately, she could only afford to buy a few things. It was fine, she dressed herself up in the few items she'd gotten mixed with what she was already wearing. The jacket was the coolest. It was a black and white sports coat with a hood on the back. On top of the hood were two little blue devil horns. Under that was a simple white shirt with a band logo on it and short jean shorts. It was a little breezy, but Misa ran hot and rarely got cold.
She left the shop, determined to find something else to do next. That was when she heard it coming from a nearby building. She'd seen it a few times before, they rented out rooms to people for whatever they needed. Never had she been in it, but... today she stood outside, smitten by the window.
"Who is that..." The voice singing the beautiful notes was familiar, but Misa couldn't quite place it. The song though, it was unbelievable! How was anyone able to just walk on by after hearing this? She stood in the middle of the sidewalk, staring up at the window for the entire duration of the song. A few bystanders bumped her for so awkwardly standing and aimlessly staring. She didn't mind, for some reason it seemed to happen a lot lately. "It's so familiar."
After the song, Misa stayed in place. She couldn't hear the conversation inside, that was far too quiet. She was hopeful that the band would go again. After a few moments it seemed like she would be disappointed, but she still stayed a bit longer. Long enough to see the door open just a little further down and two young girls step out. Could they be..?
It wasn't likely, but Misako was perfectly capable of making a fool of herself to sate her curiosity. They hadn't noticed her yet, it seemed. Why would they? She wasn't really an expected audience. She jogged after them, turning a bit red as she reached out to tap the kitsune on the shoulder.
"E-excuse me! Was that you guys singing back there?"

It seemed today was just setting up itself to be a chain of unexpected events. The light jogging did not go unnoticed by either the Kitsune's enhanced senses nor by Elise's trained mind, but considering this was not exactly a private area the two of them had paid it no mind at all. However, the sudden tap on her shoulder made the kitsune turn around to greet a sight that made the foxy lass her lips curve up into a bright smile. "Tetsu! You didn't tell Meister that you were having a break from school!"
Elise meanwhile couldn't help but blink in bewilderment. The light blush on the girl's cheeks, and for a moment the Germanic lass couldn't help but tilt her head slightly to the side in confusion. Since when did Tetsuko cut her hair short again... The two girls looked at one another while the Kitsune grinned sheepishly. "Of course it was us! You know Meister has been busy getting ready for that big show that Kaito-sensei is hosting soon~"
However, Elise took a step closer to the girl, her gaze lingering on the girl's face for a moment, before a subtle shift downwards was made and she chuckled softly. "Well~ This is entirely unexpected~" The Kitsune meanwhile turned her gaze at Elise and blinked in confusion. "What is unexpected? There is no way that Tetsu wouldn't want to visit you! She might be the number one student of the hero academy, but you're still her number one~"
Elise shook her head lightly at the statement and mused softly. "She isn't Tetsu~" Lyse meanwhile was flabbergasted. "What are you saying?! Tetsu can't become two Tetsu like you do!" Elise shook her head firmly in denial. "Tetsu has a small beauty mark beneath her right eye~ and..."
Her cheeks flushing up lightly Elise averted her gaze for a moment, muttering something under her breath while the Kitsune tilted her head slightly, musing softly. "And... Oh!"
The Kitsune's gaze shifted toward Misako as she suddenly raised her hands and attempted to give the girl's pillows a surprise squeeze. Whether the caught off-guard girl would be able to prevent it or not, Lyse soon chimed happily in response. "You're right! She has a larger bust than Tetsu~"
Elise however was equally surprised as Misako possibly had been, a hand raised to karate-chop the Kitsune's head while she pulled the feisty Kitsune back. "Don't go comparing my girlfriend's bust to that of strangers!" The Kitsune giggled sheepishly. "Hehe~ so we confirmed not that you are 'not the Tetsu, but still looking like Tetsu~'"
Elise groaned audibly at the foxy lass her playful comment and smiled apologetically at Misako. "I'm sorry about that, to be honest even now I'm surprised how similar you look to Tetsu. Have you heard of her before? Tetsuko Shindou, she is a student at the hero academy, althought I guess just a student would be a mean way to call her, since she is considered the number one student of the academy... But where are my manners~ I am Elise von Eisenberg, former fourth rank student of the hero academy, and a pianist~ Although I'm also a member of the Public Safety Commission, and a surgeon at Tokyo Hospital... phew, that sounds like an extreme level of multitasking doesn't it?"
Chuckling softly at her own joke, Lyse meanwhile hummed happily. "So~ What brings you to our doorstep 'Not the Tetsu'?" The teasing tone of the girl made Elise sigh playfully. "Might want to share your name with her, lest you'll become known as 'Not the Tetsu', for the rest of your life~ Her name is Lyse by the way~"

Misako, prepared to be embarrassed for stopping the wrong people, was instead very confused by their reaction. They seemed excited to see her, like they were expecting her? Who was this... Tetsu character? She took a half step back and raised her hands, but kept a friendly smile. "Tetsu... Meister?"
They were hosting a show soon? So these people must have been famous, right? Maybe that was why the singing sounded so familiar. Misako wasn't an expert on pop culture, but she definitely kept up with the things she liked. Hearing a band that good sing would probably stick in her memory well, even if she couldn't put a finger on where she heard it. Still, she needed to correct the obvious misunderstanding, right? She opened her mouth to speak, but the other girl beat her to it.
"You're right! I'm not Tetsu! I don't know who she is, unfortunately..." she trailed off, but the kitsune quickly made the comment about her bust right after and Misa blushed a deep red, "my... bust? Why are you looking at my bust?"
She shook the thought away, letting out a giggle but adjusting her clothes a bit awkwardly. Before they could answer her question, she barked up though. "Never mind, it's not important!" She didn't want to embarrass herself further by dragging the conversation about her breasts out. The one comment seemed like enough. Besides, it seemed harmless. One of them was in a relationship already!
"I haven't actually heard of her... my parents aren't really big on the heroing thing, but I'll show them. I'm starting at U. A. High this school year. It's coming up really soon. I don't know if I'll be as good as you two seem to be though! That's impressive! Number one and number four!" She said, starting to shake her awkwardness off. She was shy, but these two seemed like nice people. They seemed genuine, which was a rare trait in these days. She liked them.
"My name is Misako Suzuki! You can call me Misa, though. Everyone does. It's a pleasure to meet you two. I stopped you because... well, honestly I overheard your singing while I was out shopping and I just wanted to tell you that you're amazing! Sorry if it's weird that I was listening... I was just close and heard it on accident at first." Great, she sounded just like a creepy stalker! Just the type of thing that Misa was going for, right? It was a wonder that she had to go out on her own to enjoy her day.
"I hope our likeliness doesn't make people want to compare me to your Tetsu! She sounds... amazing. I hope me stopping you isn't a bother." Really she did. It was hard to make friends these days. "If you do have a moment though... could I ask you what it's like at U. A. High? I'm just starting this hero path and... I''ll be honest, I'm just a little nervous I guess..."

"Mhmm~ Meister is Meister!" The Kitsune pointed with a sheepish grin at Elise, who explained in a soft and gentle tone. "Meister means German for 'Master', it's a bit of a quirky habit of hers~"
When the flustered Misako inquired about the matter of her bust, the foxy lass remarked happily. "Mhmm~ Compliments where compliments are due~" Still, it was understandable that Misako might had not heard about Tetsuko before, and her parents being a bit opposed to the profession of a hero was quite logical in Elise's opinion. It was a dangerous and difficult duty to carry out in the end, even if some people forgot that at times...
"I see, one of the new students then~ I'm certain it will be a bit chaotic at first, but I'm confident you'll be in good hands." Elise answered her in a reassuring tone. Still, to think that Misako would remark on her singing so entusiastically, it earned a slight blush from the Eisenberg lass. "I'm grateful for the compliment Misa-chan~ I'm not really used to singing yet since I usually play the piano, and my songs rarely contain lyrics."
When Misako expressed her concern about looking similar to Tetsuko and that stopping the duo might had been a bother, Elise shook her head lightly in response while the Kitsune answered excitedly. "It's no problem at all~ We love making new friends! and if anything your likeness will be more a source of amusement than criteria for them to judge you on."
However, when she was asked about what it was like to go to the hero academy, Elise frowned for a moment. It wasn't exactly an easy thing to just answer, especially by someone like her who thought very deeply on certain subjects. Not to mention she did need to go grocery shopping! "I don't mind answering your questions and concerns, although... in return how about you join us? We were just about to do some grocery shopping for tonight's dinner, and like to avoid the rush hours, consider the free meal a reward for your time~"
A gentle smile lingering on her lips, Elise watched Lyse excitedly attempt to grasp a hold of Misako's hand and guide her along. "Well, as you likely already know, the hero program is still quite new." Elise explained as she guided Misako along. "While the school is maturing in its approach to the various needs of its students, both in personal and educational level, it is still not entirely perfect. You will find that there are a lot of views on 'what is a hero', and you might even find people whose attitude makes you even wonder why they are there." She laughed weakly at the memory of her own time in the chatroom of the school. "For that reason it is important that you focus on finding what a hero means for you. For some it might be to be the strongest, famous or most popular, others might say that a hero is someone who fights against all things threatening society. There are so many answers, and it's difficult to say which one is right, so finding your own reason is important. Consider it the 'Origins' of your existence as a hero."
Lyse nodded her head attentively, her fluffy tails swaying behind her. "Meister once told me what it means to be a 'True' hero' They don't care about the glory or the rewards, they all have this odd thing, this part inside them that stirs whenever they see a person who needs help, and it stirs their body into moving before their minds even consider it!"
Elise's cheeks flushed up lightly as she mused softly. "Idealistic isn't it? But she is right, for me the definition of a hero is that you are someone who simply wants to do good and help people." While they entered the grocery store Elise inquired with a hint of curiosity. "So Misa-chan, did you figure out yet if you plan to enroll into the hero course or the support course?"
One could say that it was the very first choice Misako would make on her journey as a hero!

Lyse quickly explained the meaning of Meister, and Misako would be lying if she said that it didn't give her some strange thoughts. What type of relationship did these two have exactly? Especially if the one with the pretty voice was already in a relationship with another woman... were they just open like that? She probably shouldn't spend too much time thinking about other people's relationships. It was rude, likely. Especially if she herself wasn't exactly against something like that! "I- I see. Should... I call you Meister too? I'll do that, then."
Misa decided to breeze over the next comment about her bust, but did make a mental note of it. It made her cheeks get a bit hot, but she wasn't going to dwell and make them burning red again! Instead, redirecting to the teachers. "Of course, U. A. has the best hero courses out there so far. Everyone always says. Even if it's going to be chaotic, I'm going to try my hardest, Meister!"
The adorable kitsune jumped in again and Misa was immediately relieved for the intrusion. Sometimes, when approaching strangers she felt out of place, but something about Lyse seemed to set her mind at ease. "I'm so happy to hear that, Lyse! I'd love to be your friend, if you'd have me. I don't really have a whole lot of them here yet. Obviously. I tend to go on my shopping trips all alone these days..."
Before a dreary mood could settle though, she quickly turned to Elise and smiled wide, bowing her head. "I'd love to join you guys for dinner! I can help cook, if you'd like... uhm, I'm kind of low on cash though, so... well, you don't have to feed me! I just want to come along and learn more about you two. You seem like really... great people." She blushed a bit, glancing from Elise to Lyse. She meant it, the two of them were both so pretty and happy... Misa was more than a little jealous. They seemed like they had it all figured out.
Then the kitsune surprised her by jumping forward and grabbing her hand. The kitsune's skin was unbelievably soft in contrast to Misa's only rather rough and paper-like skin... but she didn't seem to mind. Misa definitely didn't mind the adorable kitsune holding her hand and leading the way either, and only squeezed back in response. Today was shaping up to be a really nice day, it seemed!
Her eyes stayed on Lyse as the kitsune explained her meister's philosophy on being a hero. She nodded, her jaw opening a bit at the wisdom of it. It sounded very grandiose, and for a moment Misa wondered if she would ever qualify for something so... intense. Elise had those qualities? She glanced back to her senpai, and for a moment appreciated the woman and her demeanor. "Meister is very wise, I think. I could really learn a lot from her, I bet. I just wish I had something to offer of my own, I guess."
Then it was Elise's turn for questions, and Misa perked up happily when she was asked them. She rarely got the chance to have deep conversations about heroing. Her parents hated the topic, and avoided it all together. Then when she'd moved to join the new school, well.. she just didn't have enough people. "I'm joining the hero course, Meister. I... well, I want to save people. When there's danger, I want people to see me and... well, feel better I guess. Safer. I don't care if they notice me, though! It's like... well, there was a fire at my parents book store recently and my sister she got stuck inside. Everyone was terrified, but I just ran right in. Well, flew technically, but that's part of my quirk. When I saved her everyone was so happy. That feeling I got, making everyone happy like that? I want to do that forever. I want to make everyone feel just a little happier... was that really corny? I feel like it was..."
Her cheeks were now bright red as she scratched the back of her head and shuffled her feet. She wasn't sure how far they were from the store, but the distraction of shopping might be nice to ease her social ineptness.

When Misako suggested calling her 'Meister' also, Elise found her cheeks flushing up a bright red hue. Although it was not entirely unpleasant, the thought of Misako saying it, when she looked so similar to Tetsuko was a VERY dangerous something. "W-Wait Misa-chan, I think there is a misunderstanding here!" Elise answered in a flustered tone, waving her hands lightly in denial to the title. Lyse meanwhile was clearly entertained immensely by the current situation, while the Germanic lass clarified further. "The reason Lyse calls me that is because of who she is. You see, despite how she looks Lyse isn't entirely human like the two of us. She was born from an experiment I did with my quirk. Like, you know how those popular anime often have familiars of magicians call their creator 'Master'? It's similar here~ People tended to get confused when Lyse called me Onee-chan, so after she watched a mahou shoujo anime she became adamant about calling me that."
However, it seemed Misa was quite liking the idea of calling her Meister, earning a soft chuckle from the trickster who mused softly. "Ara... Ara... You really seem fond of that title already. Although I got to admit it's not entirely unpleasant to hear you calling me that... Kinda makes me feel like a super smart and wise martial arts master."
She laughed briefly at the remark, while Lyse hummed softly. "Then welcome aboard Misa~" Lyse replied happily as she guided the girl along. "You're welcome to pitch in with the cooking then~ Don't worry about cash, fortunately work pays me quite well." She laughed heartily as they entered the grocery store and while Elise searched for the right ingedients, clearly taking a bit of time to measure things like the price and volume of the products, Elise shook her head lightly at Misa's words as she placed a package of minced meat in the shopping chart. "Everyone has something to teach us Misa-chan, Besides I always believe life is an adventure more fun to go through with friends along the way~"
Still, when Misa explained how she wanted to join the hero course and explained her reasoning behind wanting to be a hero the girl paused for a moment. "Legally you'd be scolded for using your quirk without proper training or a license." Her words sounded stern, but soon Elise turned toward Misa and smiled gently, a hand raised to try to ruffle the girl's hair a little. "But I think you did good, and that you have a nice reason for wanting to become a hero. The desire to help people, to simply be able to contribute to their lives in a way that they feel happier and secure is a wonderful ambition in my eyes Misa-chan~"
Lyse nodded her head firmly in agreement. "Mhmm! It means that Misa is a nice girl! Not corny at all~" Elise in the meanwhile seemingly had finished her groceries and while she was heading to the counter to purchase her wares, Lyse explained to Misa with a gentle smile. "Meister used to be very similar to you. She is someone who really wants to help people and make life better for everyone, but Meister also carries a lot of burdens and responsibilities. Not only is she a member of the commission that oversees the operations between heroes and the police, but she also is a really famous surgeon! Although sometimes she cares too much.... when Meister's Meister died during their mission, Meister vowed that she will never let anyone else suffer the same fate and works lots and lots and really hard to keep that promise. To make sure that heroes are safe and happy also, das Meister's job!"
Lyse chimed happily in response. Meanwhile, as Elise finished her groceries she approached the pair. "Luckily my apartment is close to the hero academy, not that far from this shopping district actually~ Anyways, do you have any other questions in the meanwhile Misa-chan?"

Elise was blushing shortly after Misako started calling her Meister, which for a second made the younger teen wonder if she'd made it weird. Second guessing herself was in her nature, it seemed, because Elise quickly admitted that it made her feel cool! Like some sort of karate sensei to be more precise. "You... two are kind of the same person, then? A bit. That's really cool, Meister! Your quirk seems like it's capable of a lot of interesting things in the hands of a true genius like you. Lyse, you're lucky! You have such an impressive Meister and you have such a lovable personality. We'll have to watch some anime together sometime, alright? You can show me which ones are the best, I'm a bit of a beginner."
Misa squeezed Lyse's hand tightly, unable to hide the happy smile from her face that didn't go well with the devil horns on her hood at all! A few passerby's gave them weird looks, but Misa made it a point not to care about the opinions of snooty strangers. Instead, she found herself looking Lyse up and down for any tell that the girl was actually a slime. She was absolutely gorgeous, regardless. Wait, she shouldn't be staring like this! Quickly, she raised her head again, looking at Elise and pointedly not letting her eyes fall again. "Thank you for having me, guys. It really means a lot to have senpais that are nice. And such a wise, super smart martial arts Meister~"
The last part was only half a joke. Sure, the name was something that sounded cool, but Elise was someone that had real training and experience. Misa actually thought she was a wise and smart martial arts master. Even if the other girl was too humble to admit that she was impressive. Speaking of, her Meister was quick to spout off another piece of wisdom that seemed beyond her years. She really was amazing. "Well, I look forward to going on plenty adventures with you two, and teaching you whatever it is I'm meant to teach. You'll be my first friends here! So please, treat me well."
There was a moment that Misa worried the businessman part of Elise was going to show, and she'd feel like she had to do her duty and arrest Misa. She'd already given a police report, and she was too young to be charged. Elise was quick to put her at ease though. She smiled as her senpai assured her that she did the right thing. She thought so too, and had no regrets, but hearing her wise smart martial arts Meister say so was reassuring. "Thank you, Meister. I know it was... legally wrong but I just feel like sometimes the law might not be perfect? Heroes are new so a happy balance might still come through eventually."
Lyse's approval meant a lot. More than the girl might have thought, as Misa constantly measured herself by the standards of the people around her. Especially ones that she felt such a fast and strong connection to. Like Lyse! Elise though was... unbelievable. "You mean you're... a hero, a high ranking liaison, and even a surgeon? How are you so... amazing, Meister? If I could be half as amazing as you, I would be a happier person. It'd be enough for me."
They finished their shopping, and Misa was tempted to offer some way to pay but really she couldn't think of anything she could do for someone so amazing. Not in a million years. When asked if she had any other questions, Misa bit her lip. Should she ask everything she wanted? Was she taking advantage? "Well... what do they do with kids that... aren't as good as everyone else? Will I be kicked out if I... disappoint my teachers?"

Lyse nodded her head enthusiastically when Misako suggested for them to watch some anime together sometime. It was a rather amusing hobby, but for Elise watching anime or reading manga was a nice way to balance the rather intense lifestyle she had been dealing with the last year. Still, there was something about seeing Misako smile so happily that was endearing for the Germanic lass, and no it wasn't because of how much she looked like Tetsuko!
Still, noticing the subtle glance Misako gave Lyse earned a soft chuckle from Elise who mused softly. "Visually you won't be noticing any differences Misa-chan~ Our aptitude for shapeshifting is quite strong, the only way for someone to notice is if they injure us. Due to the fact that our disguise is formed by an outer layer of slime, if we get hit hard enough the slime starts to break~ Nonetheless, it's not entirely flawless, for example you might notice that Lyse's skin feels softer and smoother than most people? It's due to our nature as slime girls~"
With her explanation done, Misako's compliments earned a sheepish smile from Elise, after all it was pleasant to be so much appreciated! "Likewise Misa~" Lyse chimed happily softly and when Misako expressed her opinion about the laws Elise nodded her head lightly in agreement. "It's an opinion I share, the laws are flawed in certain ways, and while it is important to try to obey them, it is equally important to be able to think for yourself. Take for example your situation: If you didn't act your sister might had gotten injured or worse, I feel that sometimes the law can be bend for the sake of the greater good." Likely a surprising comment to hear a member of the Public Safety Commission say!
Yet Misako's question made Elise shake her head gently. "I'm not exactly a hero, I never obtained a hero license, the license I possess simply allows me to use my talents and skills to save people and protect myself in an emergency situation. Although I wouldn't really call myself amazing... In the end even I make mistakes~"
As they finished shopping Elise listened to Misako's new question and pondered for a moment. "Strength isn't the defining factor for a hero Misa-chan~ But to answer your question: When a student starts to struggle to keep up with their peers plenty of opportunities are given. Whether it involves having your upper classmates teach you during their free time, or even have additional lessons with your teachers. I actually used to take self-defense lessons from the Principal and the former disciplinary teacher~"
She smiled briefly and continued. "In the end the only way you'll be truly expelled is if you start breaking rules, but in general the school tries to accomedate all sorts of students, so you shouldn't worry about such a thing~" Indeed, strength wasn't everything, even if there was quite a sum of students who seemingly forgot about that quite often.

The excitement shown at the idea of anime being watched was noticed by Misa, and she was happy about that. It was one thing to have a one off chance encounter with these two, but she wanted to actually form an honest friendship. The only way to do that, in her opinion, was through shared experiences. Much like Elise had said earlier, life was more fun when you shared it with people you love right? "It's a date then! You'll show me what I've been missing out on in the world of anime. I've heard a lot of good things, but my mom thought it'd just put the idea of being a hero in my head more. Oh, it sounds like I'm bashing her doesn't it? It's not like that. She's loosened up a lot and it's a lot better. She just was really protective before the incident."
Elise seemed to catch Misako's wandering eyes, and for a moment the teen was flustered and about to defend her intentions... but Elise had already guessed what she was looking for. Good, she didn't want them to think she was being inappropriate. "Now that you mention it," Misa ran her thumb over Lyse's palm in soft slow circles, "it is pretty soft. Very soft. I like it a lot. My quirk... well, it kind of does the opposite. I'm sure you noticed Lyse, my hands are rather rough and coarse? I'm actually not super different from you guys. I'm made of paper, heh. It's why my parents opened up a book store. I got my quirk from them."
It was good to hear Elise reassure her opinions on the laws. Misa was a little worried still that she was passionate about the laws and had no room for bending. A stupid thought, since Elise had already shown off exactly how wise and thoughtful she was. Misa would be a fool to think of the girl as closed minded, but there was always that voice of uncertainty in her head that wanted to make her doubt. "I think with time and clever people like you it won't be long until heroes are more recognized and the laws better suited for the world we live in. I trust you with it, Meister."
Elise's attempt to be humble only made the paper teen chuckle. It was funny, how when you were so close to greatness it was so easy to overlook. Can't see the forest for the trees, right? "Right, you're no hero. You just save people and protect yourself in emergency situations like some kind of... hero." Her voice was uncharacteristically sarcastic, and Misa quickly blushed a bit and raised a hand up to her mouth as if to try to put the words back. "I, uh, didn't mean that to sound so... like it did. I just mean that... I think, even if you don't see it and even if you make mistakes sometimes, well, you really are a hero. To me, to the people you save. You're someone that I look up to, Meister. You don't need to be modest about it."
Last but not least, Elise addressed the question Misa asked and it quickly relieved much of her nerves. Sure, she'd always be a little scared about starting the year... but that was expected when doing something new and amazing. It was a huge step, and whether she was ready for it or not could only be found out by trying. "That's nice. I have a feeling I'm going to need help from my senpai's there a lot. My quirk is still a little on the under trained side. I'm excited to see what all I can do with it. I really appreciate your help, Meister."
Today, no matter where it went from here, was a good day.

While Elise was carrying the bag of groceries, she kept an eye on the excited Kitsune and their new friend, although the words that left Misa's lips earned a sheepish smile from Elise, while Lyse herself bounced over to Misako's side and happily nuzzled into the girl's shoulder. "Wee~ It's my first date! and with such a cute girl also!" Lyse chimed happily while Elise shook her head lightly when the girl expressed her concern about the way she was talking about her own mother. "Not at all~ It is understandable that your parents were against it at first. Being a hero is a difficult and often dangerous profession, so it is only natural for your parents to worry. My own parents were quite supportive of the idea, but that's mostly because they were quite laidback and supportive in their own way. Wanted for me and my little brother to decide on our own way, even if we come from a family of doctors, it doesn't mean we were forced to follow in their footsteps.
When Misa ran her thumb over Lyse's palm, the kitsune giggled softly, and when Misako explained the nature of her quirk further, the slime girl hummed happily in response. "Don't worry~ I can make you all soft and smooth also~" Giggling softly as she gently squeezed Misako's hand, Elise couldn't help but smile in amusement at Lyse's enthusiasm. It was nice to see the slime girl making new friends, especially because of how energetic Lyse was. "Although, it is fascinating to hear that you possess such a Quirk Misa~ I assume you are a Transformation type Quirker, or are you a Mutation type who simply is able to alter the look of the paper, similar to me and my slime?
Elise smiled sheepishly at Misa's words, although she truly hoped the girl was right. That with time and the efforts of people like herself, people would start to acknowledge this evolution of humanity and start working toward how to incoperate the strengths of this evolution, rather than considering it a mutation that was to be feared.
Misako's words earned a soft snicker from Elise, who despite the awareness Misako didn't mean to sound sarcastic, her choice of words certainly was amusing to hear. "Mhmm, perhaps it's just that I hold the role of a 'hero' to such high standards that I find it difficult to call myself one, one of my teachers did once say that I am a bit too idealistic in my views."
Elise nodded her head lightly as Misako was reassured of her concerns. "Indeed, you will find plenty of your peers willing to help you out, and I don't mind assisting you also during my free hours~ There are fortunately specialized areas that allow Quirk-related training." As the three of them arrived, the spacious appartment block came into view, and upon unlocking the door leading into the building, a simple staircase was all that stood between them and the door leading to their apartment. Once Elise unlocked the door, Lyse happily bounced inside the hallway, her shoes seemingly changing into slippers and after giving Misako a moment to put on one of the pairs at the doorway, guided the girl further inside.
Elise meanwhile started to wander into an open doorway further inside, seemingly connecting to a kitchen, while Lyse guided Misako into the living room adjacent to it, although there was clearly a dining corner between the kitchen and the living room. Pointing at the two doors further in the back Lyse hummed happily. "Those doors lead to Meister's room on the right, and mine on the left~ Then on the other side in a biiiig bathroom, and then there is also a guest room, but currently Meister is using it for her research and work~"
Seems Lyse was truly excited to have a guest over!

Misa chuckled at Lyse's response to the date. She hadn't meant it literally at the time, but she was holding hands with the cute kitsune! If it was a date, she wasn't going to complain about it. She hadn't gone on any dates before either, so the thought was a bit exciting. She nodded along to Elise as she agreed that her parents weren't crazy for not wanting her to be a hero. It made sense, any parent would want to protect their child from danger and hers were no different. "That's nice. I'm glad your parents let you go that way, it seems like they trusted you to know what's best for yourself. They were right to do so. You're a very wise person, Meister!"
Misa probably sounded like a broken record, but really every time that Elise spoke it just became more and more apparent that she was the wise master she'd joked about being earlier. Lyse spoke next, saying she could make Misa soft and smooth too, and the teen had no idea what that meant. Was that a part of her quirk? That wasn't an innuendo was it? A tint of pink graced her cheeks as the thought passed. "My quirk, yes. It's a transformation type, really. I can create constructs out of the paper that is on my body. Though, I do mutate a bit sort of. One of the ways I can use my power is to create wings of paper that let me fly. I don't get to test it much, since I'm not supposed to use my quirk... but flying without a machine is unbelievably fun! Maybe one day I can show you!~"
Misa nodded at Elise's explanation that she held things to a higher standard. That wasn't surprising even a little bit. Someone who was as great as Elise was likely a perfectionist in everything, right? It was the only way that someone could be so devoted to every hobby they have, right? She smiled back at the girl, nodding. "I had a suspicion that you hold yourself to high standards. It's a good trait to have, really. I just think you should allow yourself even just a little more credit, at least. Not many people have as many accomplishments as you! Most couldn't hold a candle, really."
Elise said she'd help Misa practice, and the younger girl beamed at the suggestion. Her smile was wide and happy. If she had the support of a powerful upperclassmen- albeit former upperclassmen- then there was no way she would fail. She could do this for real with the right help. "I really would appreciate that, Meister. You don't know how much it means to me. With help from someone like you, I'm sure I'll do amazing."
They were inside the apartment soon after, and Misa noticed that Lyse's feet simply morphed into slippers. It made her raise a brow. Did that mean that her clothes were like skin? Did... she feel it like skin? What parts were which. Not for the first time that day, she caught herself looking Lyse up and down rather plainly. She shook her head though, kicking off her own shoes and sliding on the slippers that were waiting for her. "You two live in a very nice home. Thank you for having me."
Lyse started her excited tour, and Misa followed along and nodded as she did. She made a note of all the different rooms so she wouldn't have to ask again later. The apartment was bigger than Misa thought it would be and even had a guest room! How cool was that? "I bet you run many interesting experiments, Meister! Lyse, you'll have to show me your room sometime. I bet you have it decorated really cool!"

Elise was glad that Misako was so open-minded, both on the subject of Lyse calling it a literal date and the protective nature of the girl's parents. Although Misako's praise, while pleasant did make Elise ponder a little whether she was truly a wise person. If anything she considered herself stubborn and emotional before wise, but she certainly was a smart lass!
Still, seeing Misako's cheeks flush up a tint of pink at Lyse's playful innuendo led to Elise to chuckle briefly as she proceeded to listen to the girl's explanation of her quirk. So in a way her quirk was a Transformation type that allowed her to mutate her body? That certainly was intriguing! For a long time people thought Elise was similar, but the truth was that she actually was a slime girl physically, and merely disguised herself as a normal person to create the idea that she was a transformation type Quirker.
To say that Elise was a perfectionist in everything she did, was sort of correct. When Elise had set her mind to something, she truly went above and beyond to excel in it. Whether it was her gunnery skills, her training as a shinobi, or indeed her work as a Surgeon, Elise always gave it her utmost. So when Misako said she should allow herself to get a bit more credit, Elise couldn't help but smile briefly, considering the thought. Even if she herself considered it not enough yet, perhaps there was pride to be found in her accomplishments so far.
Still, seeking Misako become so happy and excited at the suggestion to train her, Elise couldn't help but smile also at the girl's enthusiasm. Still, it was endearing to see how excited and curious Misako could get, whether it was about the way Lyse changed her footwear or showed her around the apartment. "How about you show her your room Lyse? We got some time before dinner is ready." Elise suggested from the kitchen as Lyse chimed happily in response. "Aye~ Let's go Misa~" The girl answered energetically as she guided the girl to her room, and upon opening it revealed what clearly seemed like a room fitting for the energetic Kitsune. Whether it were the posters of famous anime, or idol groups or the collection of manga on a nearby bookshelf, the various video games and indeed, even some consoles made it clear that despite her seemingly otherwordly origins, she still had a very ordinary interest in hobbies.
"Meister's experiments are complicated, lots of medical stuff and Quirk related matters, too confusing for me to understand." Lyse admitted with a sheepish smile as she looked at Misako. "Oh, don't mind the kiddie pool at the back, you see during summer me and Meister don't deal well with humid weather, so when we get exhausted we tend to revert to our true forms, so to prevent the furniture from becoming sticky we nap in our pools~"
Quite a Quirky little detail, wasn't it? But it sounded cute at that also!

Misa watched Elise's subtle expression changes, and had a feeling that maybe her words had gotten through at least a bit to the older girl. That made her happy, because if anyone deserved to have pride over what they've done it would be the incredible person in front of her. Really, if Elise was this amazing then Misa was excited to meet Tetsu, the number one student. It really did seem like that was a class of greats that were front running the school now. Misa was sure that one day they would be powerful and amazing pro heroes... or civilian leaders with many life saving skills, like Elise. Hopefully it was something that Misa could learn while she was at the school too, and become great herself!
"If you're okay with working alone, Meister! When we're back then I'll help out too, okay?" Misa said with a wide smile, following Lyse eagerly. It didn't really dawn on her that they were going to be alone in a room before their official first date. The implication was something subtle, but Misa was happy to go along with it regardless.
When they did get to the room, Misa was clearly fascinated by the interesting decorations. She wandered with wide eyes and looked at the figures and posters with fascination. Lyse was like a super fan it seemed! It made Misa excited to try and get into anime herself, especially with such an experienced teacher! "You have a very cool room, Lyse! I like it a lot. That's really interesting about your quirk, though. I think that'd be fun to cuddle with you in a little pool though! If the date goes well, at least. Maybe you can teach me how to play some video games too! We'll have to plan a sleepover or something. Maybe tonight, if you aren't busy? After dinner, we could just hang out here!"
It seemed that Misa had accepted that they were going on an honest date, and was ready to confirm with the girl that it was in fact a real date! It was a little less awkward to ask when Elise wasn't standing right there at least. "My quirk has a few little side effects too, but nothing as bad as melting in the middle of my naps. That's an interesting one! My worst is when I get wet, I feel a little weaker. It's not terrible, just a little weaker is all." |

"Go ahead and have fun you two~ In return you can help Lyse wash the dishes after dinner." A gentle smile lingered on Elise's lips as she watched Lyse guide Misako to her room, clearly oblivious to the idea that the two of them alone in Lyse's bedroom might have some implications. When Misako complimented her room Lyse beamed a bright smile at her new friend, humming happily. "Whenever I work hard and do lots of chores, I get rewarded with an allowance and then I buy lots of nice things~ Meister is really generous, but she believes in the saying: If you want something, you have to work for it." She pointed excitedly at the collection of figurines on the nearby desk, yet when Misako suggested to cuddle in the pool, the Kitsune tilted her head slightly to the side in confusion. "You want to cuddle?" It seemingly came as a surprise, but clearly a welcomed one as Lyse's smile grew even brighter and she exclaimed happily. "Sure! We can cuddle in the pool the entire night while watching some anime together~ Or if you're curious we can even watch the recording of Meister's debut song!"
It was clear that Lyse was growing more excited by the second, and the idea of playing video games seemed so fun and exciting at that also! "I see~ hehe, that's a fun vulnerability to have, I'll make sure to be careful then when we snuggle~" Beaming a sheepish smile at Misako she looked at some of the video games she had in her room and mused softly. "Hmm~ I think I got the latest Star Striker Tsubasa game~ Meister used to play football with the sports club while she went to the hero academy~" Lyse exclaimed happily while the disguised slime girl mused softly. "I wonder if dinner is already ready~"
