Jack DM to Meara: Heya! I'm waitin' outside for you whenever you're ready! I can't wait to have a great time ^^
Jack could feel a massive lump in his throat as he typed out the text. His hands shook slightly, his tail swishing back and forth in uncertainty. His heart was already practically leaping within his chest, knowing that once he pressed 'SEND', there was absolutely no going back. Not when he had a very good idea as to what was coming. Especially not when it came to someone as strong and admittedly tough as Meara O'Connor.
Of course, before the last couple of days, Jack was ignorant of whatever other intention was behind all of her recent teasing and the like. Maybe at first, it really was her just teasing. Maybe these feelings were new to both of them, and she was probably as nervous as he was about the matter. Nonetheless, after both Chimera and Red showed him that there was more to this than it seemed, Jack realized that his 'simple crush' may go a lot deeper than it did.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "It's ok, Jack...Remember what Red said. Just test the waters lightly, just have a good time. If it happens, it happens. One way or another, what's coming is coming, so...don't fuck it up..." he muttered, blowing steam from his nose. He pursed his lips, staring at the screen on his phone. One way or another...this is coming to a head today. Whether that be for better or for worse. He nodded to himself, knowing that it was now or never. With that final thought in mind...he hit 'SEND', letting his date know that he was ready.
He waited outside of the school's entrance, leaning with his back to the wall. What he wore was his normal, basic attire...but he still overall looked nice. A white, sleeveless, fur-rimmed jacket over a basic red t-shirt, black jeans, blue boot-like sneakers, black, fingerless gloves, and his usual bracers and necklace. He had hesitated on wearing someone so casual, but it was also something that showed off his scales, a light show of pride in what he was. Girls liked that kind of stuff in men, right...? Nonetheless, he did his best to look like himself, which is probably what got him this far to begin with. No point in trying any harder than that, lest he threw Meara off.
He tapped on the wall absentmindedly, trying his best to control his breathing before she arrived. He tongue was ever so slightly hanging out, the boy's eyes closed as he meditated for a moment, trying to calm his nerves. He fiddled with his necklace lightly, Jack questioning if he had remembered everything. He knew that Meara had offered to pay, but he still wanted to do something for her in return; maybe order desert for the both of them? Nonetheless, he waited patiently, his body slowly but surely preparing himself...probably only for Meara's arrival, though. Past that, he had no idea how well he was going to react.

Meara was anxious all day. She had just gotten back a couple days ago from the UK and, along with being a tad bit jet-lagged, and she had a promise to keep to a certain dragon boy. She had just gotten back from the gym, both resuming her daily routine, and to try and relieve some stress and anxiousness. Why she was so anxious and nervous, she didn’t know. Well that’s a lie, she knew damn well why she was feeling the way she was. But that knowledge was what truly was scaring her. Scared that she was catching feelings again, scared of opening herself up to getting hurt again, afraid of ruining one of the only strong friendships she had. As she walked towards the dorms Meara messaged Jack telling him that She’d meet him out in front of the school after she showered and wasn’t all sweaty and gross.
As she was relaxing in the hot shower her phone began to blow up. She went to see what had the chat so lively this time. And unfortunately, her “Date” with Jack was the epicenter of quite the cluster fuck. As soon as she read the message that kicked the whole thing off her face grew bright red. “What the fuck?!” she yelled out as she began to read through the out pour of comments. “Oh Arlynn, bless your heart.” She muttered as she put her phone back down and just stood there as the hot water fell on her. She wasn’t mad at the wolf girl, she’s not used to proper edicate and can’t be blamed for some of the things she says. Everyone seemed to be smoothing it out tho and everyone was explaining to her what she said wasn’t exactly polite. Meara even promised her to take her out sometime so that she didn’t feel left out, but also to alleviate the whispers that were no doubt happening about the nature of the date she was about to have.
After another ten minutes of soaking and calming her nerves she got out of the shower and walked to her room. Once there she started to get dressed, opening up her closet and trying to decide on what she was wanting to wear. After about five minutes she decided on a blue shoulderless sweater dress and a pair of her thigh high black dress boots. She put her hair up in her signature ponytail and she stood in front of the mirror and she looked over herself once more. Happy with how her outfit looked she spritzed herself with some perfume and messaged Jack that she was on her way down. She took one last deep breath before she walked out the door and down to meet Jack at the front gate.
After a few moments she made it down to the gate where Jack was waiting for her. The dragon boy was dressed rather dashingly, in a nice pair or dark pants and his normal fur lined jacket. She felt her cheeks get a little warm as she stared at him momentarily. Luckily he wasn’t paying too much attention so he missed her awkwardness. Smiling, she walked up to him and punched him lightly in the shoulder. “So Jacky Boy, ready to go get some food?” She asked playfully. Though she didn’t want to admit it, a swarm of butterflies were currently raging in the pit of her stomach. “Let’s see how this goes, can’t be any worse than the last time I went out like this.” She thought to herself. She hoped at the very least, nothing happens and they both enjoyed a nice normal and platonic dinner with one another.

Breathe in, breathe out...just stay calm, Jack...no matter what, just stay calm...no matter how she looks, you will NOT scream...
Jack repeated this thought to himself over and over again. His breathing was slow, almost methodic. Sadly, Meara would be choosing the one person who would be most likely to panic in a situation like this; the poor boy wasn't used to anything like this. Even with his short time with Aki, he hadn't really gone on an actual, formal date like this before. He frowned lightly at the thought of her, though moreso because he didn't want that distracting him. He had moved on a long time ago, of course; he just didn't want to be reminded of how inexperienced he still was with this kind of stuff.
He was then broken out of his thoughts lightly as he started to feel his phone go off. Jack pulled it out of his pocket, partially thinking that it was just Meara confirming that she was coming down. What he got instead, was...chaos. Absolute chaos. His eyes widened as he would find the U.A. chat suddenly exploding, with Jack and Meara's date as the epicenter of it all. Jack couldn't help but feel his eye twitch a little bit as he tried to combat it.
"God...dammit Arlynn!" he lightly snarled, helping explain why what she was saying was...very, very wrong. Even if things went smoothly, the idea of 'mating' as Arlynn put it freaked Jack out a lot. The poor boy did still have some innocence, and that would likely remain in him for a long while.
Nonetheless, Meara luckily seemed to defuse the situation by telling the wolf girl that she would take her out as well. Jack sighed in relief, putting his phone away and promptly going back to mediating. Another reason he liked Meara, in all honesty. She seemed to have her head on straight with situations like these, the thought of her handling herself so well making Jack sigh in longing. He really just wanted her to be here already, so he didn't have to worry about anything else for the moment.
Surely enough, he got his wish after only a few minutes more. Honestly, he smelled the perfume just before she got there. Jack opened up his eyes just as Meara slugged him lightly in the shoulder, causing a light, startled squeak to come out of him. His face flushed a little bit at the noise, already feeling like he had fucked up a little bit. Nonetheless, he quickly composed himself, smiling widely at Meara as he looked up at her.
As he got a good look at her, Jack's mind honestly fizzled out for half a second. She was dressed casually enough, but...wow. Jack was already scared enough before, knowing that he probably would've gotten nervous when he saw her face to face again. His fears were realized, the woman before him making Jack's heart skip a beat with her beauty. However, before he blanked out for even a second, he bounced back just as quickly, acting like the light redness in his face wasn't even there. "Y-yeah! I can't wait!" he chirped happily, his tail wagging lightly like an excited puppy about to get a treat.
With that, the two would promptly start walking together, a light silence between them. Jack's face was still a bit flushed, though that could easily be boiled down to him just being shy. "...So, ah...where did you say we were going again? It was a place with a big steak challenge, right?" he asked, making light conversation and trying hard not to be a total doofus...and probably failing. Nonetheless, despite his lightly red face, he kept on a small, sweet smile, honestly just happy to be around her currently.

Meara laughed lightly at her smaller friend’s squeaky noise that he made. “I surprise ya Jacky Boy?” She said coyly as she smiled brightly at him. She couldn’t help but look him up and down as she admired the way he had dressed. “Well well, you do know how to clean up nicely.” she said, a slight tinge of red on her cheeks. She tried to menatally shake the embarrassment that she was feeling. “Calm down lass, it’s just a small dinner with a friend.” she told herself as she giggled a little bit as she saw his tail wag excitedly. “You seem happy Jacky Boy.” She said coily. Truth be told it made her heart all tingly seeing the reaction Jack was having to their date, even if it hadn’t even fully begun.
Slowly and somewhat awkwardly they began to silently walk to the restaurant that Meara had picked out for them. As they walked Meara’s mind was racing, going over multiple scenarios of how the evening could play out. Her thoughts were interrupted when Jack thankfully broke the silence when he asked her where it was exactly they were going again. Meara smiled lightly at Jack’s question and lightly reddened face. “It’s a nice steak house about 20 min from campus. I think it’s called The Musutafu Grill. And they have a huge steak challenge there. I think it’s been upped from 5kg to 8kg.” She said lightly as they continued to walk. “Still think you can take it down Jacky Boy?” She said jokingly.

Jack giggled lightly and scratched the back of his head lightly as Meara teased him, asking if she had startled him. Yeah, you startled me and reminded me just how out of my league you are... he thought sarcastically, not really being able to get over how beautiful she looked to him at all. Seriously, what was he getting himself into?! There's no way in hell she's actually into him, a 5 foot tall dragon freak of nature, right...? "Ehehe...maybe a little. Sorry," he chirped, beating down the thoughts in his head with a mental baseball bat.
His thoughts did seem to be confirmed as Meara suddenly complimented him on how he had dressed, Jack quickly noticing the light blush the taller girl had on her face. If Jack's nerves weren't already steeled for stuff like this, he probably would've screamed a little. Nonetheless, he simply giggled lightly, looking a bit embarrassed by the comment. "I-I mean...I just threw on what I usually wear when I go out, hehe..." he said, the blush on his face getting a bit deeper.
And then, the kicker. Meara promptly noticed Jack's tail wagging, noting how he was evidently happy. Stupid freaking tail... he thought angrily, wishing that it didn't act on it's own like it did. "I mean...of course I am! Going out, getting good food with a cr- I mean a good friend? Why wouldn't I be happy?" he replied innocently, almost biting his tongue when he almost said 'crush'. Nonetheless, he smiled brightly at her, still meaning what he said despite the light slip up. He was honestly just happy to be around her, so what wouldn't his tail be wagging? He was just a happy person in general, and this just made him happier.
With that, the two would begin their lightly awkward walk towards...wherever it was they were going. As they walked, Jack couldn't help but steal a glance every now and again, still questioning how on Earth he got Meara of all people to go out with him. He knew fully well that at some point...at least, if everything lined up properly, he would attempt to confess. It was already hard enough keeping it in, lying through his teeth when being confronted before...it hurt him, honestly. If things went well...which, hopefully they would, Jack knew that he had to come clean.
Deciding to break the awkward tension, Jack would ask Meara where exactly it was where they were going. The taller girl replied with apparently a grill that was about 20 minutes away from campus. She then went on to mention how they apparently upped the amount of steak in the challenge from 5kg to 8kg. She would then question Jack if he thought he could still handle that much meat. The dragon boy would grin devilishy at the comment, his sharp, draconic teeth almost seeming to shine for a second. "Hun, I can eat that in like 10 minutes and still have room for dessert~." he replied, cackling lightly at the boast. Granted, it was honestly the truth. Jack had already eaten a lot more in a short amount of time before, so now would probably be no different.
With that, the two would continue their walk, likely making some small talk until they reached the restaraunt. Jack's heart still pounded from his chest; both from just being out in a public place like this, and for the fact that there was a woman who was half a foot taller than him and admittedly gorgeous. He felt completely out of place here, but...he still had to try. He supposed that's where his true courage lied; in going 150% at everything he did, especially in scenarios like this. He just wondered if that would pay off here.

Meara laughed at Jack’s response to her teasing comment. “Aye, that's a fair and true statement Jacky Boy.” She said with a smile. Meara was truly excited to see that he was excited to go on a lil date with her. She felt a small twinge in her chest when he said friend, like a needle had pricked her heart. A flashback of her previous “romantic” escapade crossed her mind, causing her smile to momentarily falter. It was only for a second and she was quickly back to smiling brightly, pushing the negative emotions and memories down and away with a shake of her head. She smiled back at him and motioned her head towards the direction they were needing to head. “Well let’s get these legs a going Jacky Boy.” She said whimsically as she slowly began to walk down the road.
(A Few Moments later) It was an awkward start to the evening as they both walked in silence for the first stretch of the walk. Meara was terrible at making small talk, especially when she was as nervous as she was. She laughed lightly at Jack's confident remark when she had asked him if he could handle the challenge. “Oh so I’m Hun now am I?” She asked in a teasing tone. She hoped that it would get him flustered because in part she liked flustering him. And also it would distract him from the flush on her own face from her calling her hun. “Elevated heart rate detected.” Chimed the robotic voice. “Fuck off” Was Meara’s immediate internal response. “So Jacky Boy tell me. Why did you join the school?” She inquired. Curious to hear the boy’s response. She was always wondering about the motives behind people becoming a hero. Most people she talked to had pure reasons and she was pretty sure Jack would have similar motives as well.

Jack couldn't help but smile proudly and widely as Meara laughed a little at his response. However, the dragon boy couldn't help but breathe a mental sigh of relief, glad that she didn't seem to notice his little blunder there. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin this for the both of them by revealing the one thing he's been keeping secret from her for the last month or so. The time will come for that, he was certain...just not when things were just kicking off. And that was the only thing that needed kicking off; if he wasn't careful, he was sure that plenty of other things of his, in particular, were going to be kicked.
He did note, however, the very brief falter in her smile and laugh, making him wonder what was going through her mind at the moment. Sure, everyone and their mother pretty much pointed out the signals she was giving off, but for all he knew, they were all wrong. It could be something else entirely; he knew that, but also knew that there was no point in not at least trying. He decided to remain hopeful, that she did actually return the feelings that he had for her...its better than just assuming the worst, after all.
He quickly snapped out of his split-second thoughts as Meara decided to start moving, the dragon boy following beside her immediately. His tail couldn't stop itself from wagging and swaying from side to side, making Jack's face flush a little, but he didn't seem to take much notice of it. He was just happy, nothing more...at least, that was the message he hoped to be conveying. He gave her a brief side glance, and promptly held his breath again as he looked at her. He really was a love-sick idiot... He was about to start beating himself up mentally, knowing full well that she was completely out of his league, but he knew that weakness wasn't an option here. Dragons were supposed to be tough, and strong, and wise, and...ok, enough mental freaking out before he gave himself a headache.
After a few moments of rather quiet walking, Jack would begin to start making some small talk. After some light bluster from Jack, Meara would quickly take advantage of that, noting how Jack called her 'Hun'. His face went beet-red, a fair amount of stammering emitting from the dragon boy. "Espera no, eso no es lo que quise decir-" he stammered, not realizing that he switched languages for a moment. He smacked himself lightly with his tail, and shook his head. "You...really know how to embarrass me, huh?" he said, chuckling lightly. "It's just something I call people close to me sometimes," he said dismissively, though his tone implied that there was more to it than that. Not that he was willing to divulge further; at least not right now.
After that light bit of embarrassment, Meara would then change the subject to something a bit deeper in nature. Jack raised an eyebrow at her as she asked him why he decided to come to Japan and enroll at U.A. He was silent for a moment, tilting his head from side to side in thought, considering how he should answer. On one hand, he didn't want to go too deep into it. On the other hand...he didn't have much to hide, either, if anything. "...The simple answer, mi amiga, is freedom," he said finally.
He gave her a sidelong glance as they would continue to walk. "Having a Quirk like mine...it was never easy. People thinking I was, like, el diablo encarnado, or something, having stronger emotions than most people, and all that...I just wanted the opportunity to use what I've been given to help people, to experience life like I couldn't before. It's been...an experience, to say the least." With that, he would nod in satisfaction, like he said all he wanted to about the matter. "What about you, amiga? What's your reason for coming here?"
