Where Does it hurt? What on earth was the benefit of a festival where people just beat each other up? No, seriously, why did they do this?
The whole purpose of U.A--the creation of heroes--was full of complicated feelings and mixed ideas from all sides. So then who's bright idea was it to hold a big student versus student battle tournament right in the middle of their sports festival? All it did was show that the school was promoting violence among its students to those that hated U.A. Normal schools had dangerous sports as well; American football games were the leading cause in brain damage in teenagers. But literally any other "dangerous sport" didn't have Quirks involved. At least in American football nobody was being lit on fire or electrocuted or punched across the arena into a wall.
Angelica wouldn't really care about how this tournament made U.A look or how much damage was done to the students participating--they were doing so out of their own free will, so it was their fault if they got hurt. The only reason she really gave a damn was that she was one of the medical staff helping to clean students up between rounds.
Okay, so maybe she was just feeling a little over-worked and under-appreciated. It wasn't her fault that her Quirk was ill-suited for all of the festival's games. Why wasn't there a game focused on the participant's level of intelligence? Like a trivia game? She did very well at trivia games, and nobody would get a concussion because of one of those.
Usually, anyway.
Right now, Angelica was setting up in the "tournament infirmary room" that was essentially a large white tent with cots, medical equipment, and a mini-fridge for ice-packs and her candies. The first rounds were underway already, so in due time a few of the more roughed-up students would likely drop in for healing before they went back out to get their skulls bashed in again. Did her candies heal brain damage? This would certainly be a good way to test it. But she wasn't the only one working the infirmary--Nakahara Nimue, or the hero known as Witch Doctor, was also here. Angelica would give her the occasional side-glance before making herself busy again with setting gauze in an easy-to-grab location or filling a little glass jar with her healing lollipops and placing it nicely on top of the mini-fridge. She wanted things to look good. Sterile, of course, but not frighteningly so.
Even her "nurse uniform" was a white coat, white button-up, and a pressed, layered daffodil yellow skirt. The splash of color helped to make her look less frightening...and drew their eyes from her pink skin and hair if only for a moment.
Angelica adjusted her white cat-eye glasses and gave Nimue another sideways glance. She had a billion questions to ask the hero-slash-medical-doctor, but she had no idea how to start. They would be busy soon, wouldn't the be? So she didn't have all day to just go about asking how her Quirk functioned or how she'd done in medical school and if she would recommend any particular field of study or class that she found particularly interesting and AHHHHHHHHHHH.
Hero worship. It wasn't just civilians who got struck with it. Not that she was going to admit it to anybody or anyone in a million years, because she was trying to be a professional, and professionals didn't spend thirty minutes gushing over one of the few heroes who shared her life-goals and passions...
...aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Nimue was sitting at the little desk that they had there, you could more call it a plastic table with a plastic wobbly chair but it was something and she had her hands in her long mint coloured hair as she read the instructions that she had written out but did plan to trash in a matter of seconds. Hm, the small files that she made of every student that was in the tournament would help in case they needed blood and to remember their allergies, she wrote every thing by hand in the smallest way possible so that they would not have to take all the files and special information and so on. She had requested the other schools to do the same and so on. Now she was simply reading it. From time to time she felt a tingling sense in her back and she knew the girl was looking at her. She would almost ask her if she had anything to say. It reminded her of Yasashi, who had been afraid to ask questions as well and if she wasn't so busy, she would not mind. She had to time it perfectly because the hospital was doing a bit of ridiculous things as well. She was close to the finishing touch and to be honest she wanted it to be done as soon as possible. She mumbled something to herself. Put the cards away in a little map and put it to the side. She wasn't that familiar with the first year students as with the second, so that was an issue but she would know enough. She had almost a whole year to study the files of many and thank god not every first year signed up. Well, it would be an issue for the later stuff that they could do.
She leaned back on her chair and her eyes met Angelica's and she gave her a kind smile, "You know you can ask me anything right? I know I wasn't there when you first joined the infirmary but I am here now." She said kindly, yea maybe she was a bit weird. As in Nimue herself considering she was on her sabbatical the moment Angelica came to school and rolled into helping in the infirmary. It was good, Haruto told her a few things but Nimue might look like a complete stranger or mean person or anything but she was just that... lost and busy and distracted and maybe still sad from time to time.

Oww... oww... oww...
Hindsight was quite the curious thing, wasn't it? So many things one could look back on and realized that something different could have and should have been done. In hindsight, perhaps joining a battle tournament as a support student wasn't the brightest idea. Perhaps embarrassing herself in front of so many people for the sake of referencing a very old meme wasn't the best idea. And perhaps not doing more to prepare for the one-sided battle against Graham wasn't the greatest idea.
Still, despite her loss, despite her injuries and shattered pride (not that there was much of that to begin with, but still), and despite everything else, Kumoko had no regrets. She did the best she could, she stood up to Graham even when surrendering would have been quicker and honestly wiser, and she managed to break out of her shy and tender shell if only for a moment. For just a moment, Kumoko was not the timid girl with lack of confidence in her own abilities. She was instead like a completely different person. She seemed to be exuding seriousness and confidence she didn't even know she had. And that was certainly something to be proud of, right?
But right now, the poor girl was in pain. One of her spider legs was bleeding, and there was just so much blue blood trickling out of that. It was imperative that the spider-headed girl go see Nimue right away. I wonder what Nakahara-sensei will say when she sees this. Will she scold me for not surrendering sooner and letting my injuries get this bad? Will she praise me for doing my very best till the very end? Or will it be both?
Fortunately, Kumoko was brought over here right as her match with Graham concluded. Kumoko sighed. At least it was over now. ...Oh wait, there's a loser's bracket, isn't there? Aw crud, I almost forgot about that!
But rather than feel discouraged, nervous, or afraid, Kumoko honestly looked forward to it. She honestly felt excited about getting a second chance to shine. Though a second chance to get hurt did soften that excitement quite a bit. Still, Kumoko's determination shone brilliantly. A second chance, eh? Whatever happens, I won't let the match be like what happened with Graham! I'll do better! I'll put up a better fight! And if I can, I'll do my best to win!
Upon entering the white tent, Kumoko's eyes widened upon seeing not just Nimue but her classmate Angelica as well. Oh goodie, two people I have to apologize to! With a nervous chuckle, Kumoko raised her right hand and waved at the two. "Nakahara-sensei. Carina-san. Hiiiii...." She then sighed and closed her eyes, ready to receive whatever scolding she got and rightfully deserved.

Where Does it hurt? Angelica could have jumped out of her lab coat when she heard Nimue speak. She didn't turn to face her immediately, though she knew that would be the correct thing to do when she was being addressed by both her superior in the infirmary and an adult in general, but at the same time she just couldn't do it. Not without attempting to regain her composure! She drew in a slow breath to steady herself--grateful, for once, that her pink skin didn't lend itself to letting embarrassed flushes show very well--before turning to face Nimue with what she hoped read as a calm, neutral expression. Her glasses helped hide her eyes at least. "Of course, Nakahara-sensei. Thank you for this opportunity. I've already asked many questions of Shimizu-senpai and Hino-ch--senpai, but if I have more I will not hesitate to ask you." Stupid, stupid, nearly using that sort of informal, teasing speech in front of a teacher!!
"If it is not to forward a question--" Even if it was, there was no point in reigning it back now. "--may I ask how your time away from U.A was? And what made you return so soon?"
As she listened, her antenna both turned at the tip toward the opening of the tent, picking up on the subtle scent of an approaching body. It was a familiar one. U.A had many, many individuals whose genetic make-up made their unique odors impossible to mistake for any others, and the one that her classmate, the human-sized arachnid Kumoko, possessed was no exception. Angelica turned as she heard her entering the tent, hands held against her skirt as she bowed in greeting. "Good day, Joro-san. I take it your tournament match against Ashwood-san has ended?" As she straightened her spine again she looked over Kumoko with a more critical eye.
One of the appendages of her spider-half are broken. I can smell blood but I don't see any--unless the blue staining her is her blood? Of course. Spiders have pale blue blood as a result of haemocyanin dissolved in their lymph nodes. I was unaware that Kumoko's mutation extended to the make-up of her blood...I have to take that into account when treating her.
Angelica glanced at Nimue. She could easily treat Kumoko with one of her candies, but Nimue was the head nurse. It would be rude and out-of-line for her to make the first call on how best to treat her and what response Angelica should take. At the same time she wanted to impress her so very badly...
It would not be wrong of her to make a suggestion, would it?
"Nakahara-sensei, I believe my Quirk is substantial enough to heal Joro-san's injuries, if you'll allow me to fetch her one?"

Mizuki rushed down the hall, panic written across her face. She had her brother, Desmoshi, in tow his arm wrapped around her shoulder and his feet dragging across the floor. He was unconscious and bleeding from the wounds her received in his first round with Iida Katsumi. The fight was intense, neither side giving an inch. That was until Katsumi decided to trap Desmoshi in to a vacuum trap with her quirk, almost suffocating him. Desmoshi, however, was able to recover and pull of a stunning victory at the cost of overexerting himself. At first he seemed fine. Until they got into the locker room and he collapsed.
He told his sister that he had to push the last bit of energy to survive the trap and use his quirk to win. His muscles were seizing up causing him not to be able to move and he needed help getting to the infirmary. On their way there, he passed out. 'If I ever see that little witch again, there would be no teacher in the school to keep me from her!' Mizuki thought to herself as she round the corner. She knew that she had get Desmoshi help and she knew just the person. The blood of his wounds imprinted on her shirt as her mind raced. 'Why did I let him enter? This whole thing is stupid! And they did nothing to that girl! Desmoshi just wanted a fair fight!' Mizuki was filled with anger and panic. To see her brother in this state scared her to death.
Usually, recovring from overexertion could be solve with a large amount of food in her family. But this was different. Not only did Desmoshi overexert himself, but he was trapped in that vacuum trap for a good five minutes. She was surprised that was able to stand for as long as he did. But while she was carrying him, his breathing sounded raspy as though it was trying to find oxygen.
She pushed open the door to the infirmary, trying to catch her breath. Not from being tired, but from panicing. Usually she was calm and collective. But when it came to her family, it was a different story. "Nakahara-sensei!" she screamed. She didn't know who else was in the room. And she didn't care. Even if it was something minor, it was still her brother. "Please help my brother! Please!" Mizuki had tears in her eyes for the first time in three years. She didn't know what to do.

Nimue looked a little surprised at the question Angelica asked her as she had not expected that. "I definitely needed a sabbatical after what happened at Shinagawa." She was still not sure how much was gossiped within the hallways or how much was told. She wasn't sure what to say or do about it. "I like being here, I like teaching and I like helping with teaching students first aid and stuff, I felt it was good to pick up my normal life again after that and my time at the Hospital was still there. I had a lot of research there but it was not the same, the doctors there also are not a fan of me." She said with a little laugh before looking up as the door opened and Kumoko came in. Nimue looked at Kumoko as she had watched only shortly because well she never liked it and had no time for it. She did not say anything immediately yet but greet the girl. She watched Angelica from the corner of her eye and a small smile appeared on her face. "I do, go and fix it up Carina-san." She said and would let the girl do so, she had already learned a bit about Carina's quirk from Haruto but well it was good to see it too.
That was until the door was literally barged open and someone screamed at her. The normally calm nurse blinked a couple of times and ushered Mizuki to bring Desmoshi to one of the beds and she heard his ragy breath, watched the muscle restrain, the wounds or more like cuts that might come from overusing and just what happened in a fight. Lots of blood. But that was normal when using and moving your body. So she had to work on two clients at the time. "Calm down, honey, it will be fine, he will be good in a matter of minutes." She quickly activated her quirk which activated her green eyes.
She took the mask for oxygen and she would first check the lungs and everything else before cleaning most of the blood away and putting the oxygen mask on to make sure that the vacuum attack wouldn't bring any big damage or damage at all before she would clear the potential infections and shut the wounds. It would take a bit and she needed to concentrate but she would focus on Mizuki as well, "Talk to me, are you okay Haymaker?"

"Mhm, it's over..." Kumoko quietly muttered as she nodded. There was probably no need to mention that she had lost her match against Graham. If Angelica did not see the battle herself or heard about it from anyone, then Kumoko's expression had said it all. She was not upset about losing. But the spider girl did feel down for not having done as well as she could have. Oh well, it was over now.
The spider-headed girl was surprised that the expected scolding had not happened yet. Though perhaps it was due to the need to patch up the girl's bleeding leg. Maybe the scolding would come afterwards? In any case, Kumoko felt like she deserved it if it did come. Sighing, she looked down and barely registered the words of Nimue giving Angelica permission to treat the injured girl's wound with her quirk.
"I'm sorry, Carina-san. I really wanted to make our class proud by signing up for the tournament and winning at least one battle. I wanted to show everyone just how far I've come since joining the school. Prove to everyone that I wasn't some weak joke, that I was someone to be taken seriously, that I was someone who could show just how awesome our class is. But I couldn't manage it. I couldn't win. Graham was just too good of an opponent. I did my best, but it ultimately wasn't enough. And I went and got myself hurt, all because I'm too clumsy and I was too stubborn to surrender right away. In the end, all I managed to do was let everyone down. And for that, I'm sorry."
The only part that Kumoko did not regret was the very end, where she was finally able to gain the steely resolve to refuse to end the match on such a lame term. That and the very beginning where she danced her way to the stage while making a silly reference to an old and cheese meme. Yes, that was utterly embarrassing and nobody will probably ever take her seriously ever again, nor will anyone let her forget about that. But at least she had fun with that. But it was everything else about the match that Kumoko was ashamed of. She had felt so useless, unable to do much of anything besides run and delay the inevitable. Graham definitely deserved a better fight, a better opponent. The only silver lining was that there was no hard feelings.
But then Kumoko heard something. Raising her head and looking at the source of the commotion, she realized what had happened. It was Mizuki, holding her brother. It seemed Desmoshi was unconscious! Omigosh, what happened? She vaguely recalled that he was a part of the tournament. Did that mean his match ended as well? But what happened? Kumoko watched with widened eyes. Was he going to be okay?
Wait, that was a stupid question. Of course he is going to be okay! Nimue was here, after all! Plus, so was Angelica! With the two here, there was no need to worry about Desmoshi. He would be fine. Kumoko wanted to ask Mizuki what happened, but with how upset she looked, the spider-headed girl decided to not be a bother to her. It was best to leave her alone.

Mizuki knew that she was being hysterical. She needed to get a grip if she was going to be able to tell Nimue-sensei what happened. She took a deep breath and calmed down as she looked at the green haired pro hero. "He was in combat for the first round," Mizuki began a lot calmer than she was earlier. "He fought hard and won, but a couple of things happen. His opponent trapped in some weird vacuum space almost suffocating him. He got out and landed a hit to win, but he had a little trouble breathing. When he got back into the locker room, he fell to the ground, saying he overexerted himself." Mizuki took another deep breath before contiuing. "So I brought him here. It look like he had trouble with his breathing and he passed out on the way here."
She looked at Nimue-sensei with sad eyes. "Please, Nakahara-sensei, can you help my brother?" Her brother always had her back through thick and thin. And now she felt like she was in a position to take care of him. He was always the one who can take action and give Mizuki room to come up with a plan. But now she felt like she had to do it on her own. However, she realized, that she was not alone. She had a pro-hero working on her brother. If anyone could help him it was Nimue-sensei. "The quirk exertion can be solved with a lot of food, since it replenishes our quirk's energy," Mizuki added. "But I didn't know what to do about the breathing or wounds part. Is everything going to be fine?"

While Mizuki talked to her, Nimue quickly checked the other twin. She had to make sure nothing was obstructing his lungs and so on before she put the mask on to make sure he would get enough oxygen now. Her eyes had already turned green and she nodded, "It's good you did." If everyone was so responsible it would make her job a lot easier but alas. She hoped that the other medical students such as Carina-san would at least help her job by doing so. It was good that she was here and could focus on Kumoko while she would immediately help Desmoshi. Feng had such a thing last year too, overexerting and passing out. But she had not needed oxygen, she had just been asleep so to say. But that did not mean that the nurse wasn't prepared.
"Of course I can." She looked up to Mizuki and gave her a smile, "It the blink of an eye." She had already touched Desmoshi's skin to let Nkosi find any potential infections while Nimue herself had grabbed everything to cut pieces of the clothes away to make sure she could clean the wound or get the blood if Nkosi pushed it out to get, ah a piece of fabric. She put the tissues away and closed her eyes shortly, focusing on closing the wound. No direct broken bones, some bruised though and some strained muscles. She needed to fix that. She had to grab some of the sugary treats that she had here in a bit too. "Yes it does, if you turn around, in the lower cupboard are candies and chocolate, you could take a bit for what your brother likes." She said while fixing wound after another, "I can, and everything will be fine indeed." She looked up with her bright green eyes at Mizuki and smiled, "Don't worry, he be the same in just a few minutes." Closing the wounds was the easiest, fixing the tissue and strained muscles would work now that he was her first customer. She would also help any pain in his lungs but the mask worked the best for that. Eventually, he would wake up and she would take the mask off as soon as she checked his lungs and breathing and would let him stay on the bed and eat. He probably had to talk to Mizuki a bit so she gave the two of them the space to go and see how Angelica was doing.

Where Does it hurt? Angelica felt a bubble of negative emotion--and some choice words--trying to force its way up and out of her throat. What kind of doctors wouldn't like Nakahara Nimue? She was one of the pioneers of Quirker medicine! She was a brilliant woman who deserved nothing but respect. Ah, but Angelica already knew the answer to her question without needing to voice it; anti-Quirk doctors, or even male doctors in general, probably dislikes her for either her own Quirk, her research of Quirks, or just because she was a woman. Disgusting. When she was old enough to work in medicine herself would the playing ground be much the same as Nakahara-sensei's own? Would she grow to find that she was disliked just as much for such ridiculous reasons as her Quirk or gender?
It was, unfortunately, very likely.
We can only be the change we want to see in this world. And if anybody makes any sort of snide comment at me...well.
Their funeral.
She let those feelings get stored in the back of her mind as she went to get one of her candies for Kumoko, and then directed her to one of the cots--but not before another pair of students came rushing in for help. One was unconscious and the other was yelling. Angelica paid them not as much mind at the moment. She had her own patient to attend to and that sort of dramatics was only going to detract from her care. She gave Kumoko the lollipop once she was sitting down. "Here, I do not think I need to instruct you on how to take this," she spoke without any trace of amusement or sarcasm in her voice, all while sliding a pair of powder-free latex gloves on.
She was very, very gentle--more so than perhaps was to be expected of somebody as blunt and sharp as Angelica could be--as she adjusted Kumoko's injured leg-arm-appendage into a less awkward, more comfortable (and better to heal in) position. She could feel the strange muscles beneath her fingers, beneath the deep blue blood. She was a magnificent specimen wasn't she? Both in Quirk and appearance. It was a shame that she'd lost her first match but she would be back on her feet--all eight of them--or was it ten? Did she use her "human" feet to walk, too? She didn't think so--in no time.
And while she worked she did listen, even if her expression and actions didn't imply it. "I do not know why you feel the need to apologize to me. I am not your teacher, nor do I find you losing particularly disappointing. Perhaps Orlov-sensei will find it as such," the comment held no malice, but, well, it was true, their very dramatic teacher would probably take it harder than she did, so why lie about it? "This injury is bad but it will heal if I keep it in a good location and you keep that candy in your mouth. Do you have any other injuries aside from this one? I'm afraid the scent of blood from this overpowering any other traces of it. Any cuts and scrapes will heal as well so if they are minor feel free not to tell me. I just need to know if you have any sharp pains in your internal organs or anything else that may be worse than this."
Bedside manner, thy name was not Angelica. She knew this very well, but all the same she didn't look apologetic as she spoke. This was why she was going to be working with pills and not with people. Talking was harder than medicine.
