The sun was bright, the air was a bit chillier than he liked, and for the sake all of all was and was not, Nenkin hated the tracksuit that he had to wear down here in this window-less locker room. Like almost everything else he wore it felt stuffy, and this time he couldn’t get away with not wearing the shirt! Ridiculous. He warned them, he really did! This thing was going to be ruined by his mucous by the end of the day!
He pulled at the thing’s collar, not that it would really help. If only there was another fan in this locker room… The boy took a deep breath to calm his nerves. He could do this, right? If the option was even there, he didn’t bother to watch it. It would make him too nervous. Surely, he would start comparing himself to everyone else that was winning and find himself wanting.
His claws rapped on the cold hard surface of the table he was sitting at, the clinks echoing in the green room. Sure, he could have used it to warm up, but there were few weights in here specifically that would have challenged his strength. Who was he going to face? How would he be able to actually win? When he had first been accepted he thought that he was the real deal, but his classmates proved him wrong time and time again!
“I have to win.” He said. Not that there was anyone in there to hear him. He clenched his fist and lightly pounded it into the table. He couldn’t hold himself back anymore. He wasn’t a fool that really thought he could wipe the entire tournament and claim the grand prize, no, but he would be damned if he didn’t try!
The snail boy released a breath that he hadn’t even realized he had been holding. Both of his eye stalks retreated back into his head while he massaged it a little bit. “You can do this! You can do this. You can…” His repetition slowed to a halt for a few moments before he heard a knock at the door.
“Kamekuji, it’s time.” The terse announcement made his eyes pop right back out and swivel around to the door just in time to see a suited man give him the news. The man didn’t say anymore, and just stared at him for a few moments. “Uh... Follow me, if you could, please.”
“Oh, right!” Nenkin quickly stood to his feet and lumbered towards the door. He paused for but a second. Leaving this room meant that there was no going back. He rolled his shoulders, popped his back, and continued after what seemed from the outside as but a short moment of hesitation.
The journey was a bit longer than he thought it would be, but much shorter than he would have liked. He wasn’t really sure when the sunlight started dominating the fluorescent lights further inside. He wasn’t sure when the crowds had gotten so loud, either. Heck, his ear drums were starting to hurt just a bit. It was okay, though. He had a gut feeling that they would be cheering for him in the end.
A shiver ran down his spine when the announcer read off his name, a weight knotted in his stomach as he took his first few tentative steps forward, lumbering with all the grace of an elephant. He cupped a hand over his eyes to block out some of the sun, and started to wave at the crowd for a few seconds before he started walking up to the stairs of the stage proper.
He eyed his approaching nemesis down as they got closer to one another. A part of him felt bad for the guy. Surely, Nenkin’s size would seem imposing, even if he wasn’t trying to be… well, not that he was going to try to make himself seem more approachable at the moment, either. He stopped about halfway, as he had seen from last year’s footage and stood there for a moment. Not sure of what to say, he would rub the back of his head. “Here’s to a good showdown, eh?”

Ah man, what a drag...Pedro was unsure of whether he even wanted to be in the tournament to begin with. Yeah, there was the whole representing his entire school and not embarrassing the other Brazilians, and of course Izabel would chew him out for trying to sneak out of the tournament. Jeez, he already had a mother! So why did the redhead had to act like another one? Still, he did appreciate her concern. And he supposed that it would be unfair to his opponent to just not show up. The boy was lax and easygoing, even maybe a bit lazy at times, but he supposed that he was no coward. And when his comrades truly relied on him, he was not exactly one who wanted to disappoint. Ah well, let's just get this over with.Pedro got ready, packing several gadgets and stuff. Most of them were made by the boy himself, while some of the other things were provided to him by his fellow Brazilian support squad. He had a lightweight custom-made battle suit. Despite being made mostly of plastic and lightweight material, it still was good enough to serve its purpose of providing protection. The boy's main focus was support, so he naturally was not used to being the one in the front lines. That was what his summon was for, after all. In addition to the armor, Pedro also had several smoke balls, a modified paintball gun, some rope, a basic first-aid kit, and several belts with pouches to hold most of these things in. He also had a baseball bat, though it was for his summon rather than himself. Okay, just smile, act natural, and don't make it obvious that you're nervous as fuck. With helmet in hand, Pedro made his way to the stage, where he would see his opponent. Woah, I was not expecting a super tall snail dude. Interesting. Pedro was not freaked out by Nenkin's appearance. In fact, he was filled with curiosity. Well he knew several mutants himself, like monkey boy Mauro, but a snail guy was new to him. Walking up to Nenkin, Pedro grinned like a goofball as he bowed. It was a good thing that Izabel's constant lecturing about not forgetting his manners while visiting this school meant that Pedro was more than familiar with Japanese etiquette. It was also fortunate that he had his nifty translator on him. Otherwise, trying to understand a word here would prove annoying. "Yo, Pedro Carvahlo here. Nice to meet ya, and yeah, here's to an awesome time, bud." He then put his helmet on, crossed his arms, and added, "Now show me what a UA student can do! And in turn, Novo Horizonte's best support student..." Pedro would then be interrupted by a certain redheaded Brazilian classmate of his in the crowd yelling out 'self-proclaimed'. "Ah, can it Izabel! Lemme have my time to shine! Anyway..." He turned back to Nenkin. "...I'll come at you with everything I got!"Some cheering from his classmates. Once the start of the match was declared, Pedro would waste no time bringing out his buddy. "Come on out, Gobby!" After slamming his fists on the ground, a small blue circle appeared on the point of impact. This circle would then grow and change shape, becoming a blue pig-headed goblin that resembled a caveman who stood just over a meter tall. Despite the short size, the goblin, whose name was apparently Gobby, let out a loud battle cry. "GRAWWWWWWWW! GIGIGIGIGIGIGIGIGAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!"Tossing the baseball bat to the summon, Pedro ran a bit back and held his paintball gun as Gobby stepped forward to face Nenkin. He smirked. "Alright, snail dude, show me what you got to take on the mighty Delinquent Duo!"

" Oh." Nenkin returned with his own quick bow. He rubbed the membrane over his ears whenever Pedro spoke, finding it somewhat hard to understand everything he said, both his native tongue and Japanese playing with only fraction of a second's separation between them. Alas, he wouldn't dare ask this guest to repeat himself. In response, Nenkin would stand as tall as he could, and with deep breath, and with a voice decidedly quite a deeper than before he would speak: " Try as hard as you like, friend." Nenkin would rest both of his hands on his hips and widened his stance. " But you'll find my will just as immutable!" Honestly, theatrics were never really his thing, but they were the thing of a certain paladin he had played for a D&D game about a year ago. He thought that, maybe, if he tried hard enough he could manifest the dashing fearlessness that he had gifted them with? It was a stupid idea to be honest, but wasn't the caricature just another part of being a hero? " G-gobby?" With a getup like that, he expected his opponent's outfit to be something more like super strength or... something else, really. He wondered if the loud and rambunctious beast was supposed to make him cower. The foolish summoner seemed to think low of him. Bah! He would dispatch it quickly and win the fight. He was certain that nothing that small could pose a threat to him! " Oh, a goblin?" Nenkin got on to all fours and dug his claws the best he could into the arena ground. He eyed the beast in its barbaric glory, slobbering with the urge to fight, and shifted his gaze to Pedro. Such a small thing would likely do little to stop his mighty form. Would it be best to ignore the thing completely and rush down its summoner, or would it be better to dispatch of it to make the fight easier? Was there a way he could take out two birds with one stone? He used the force of his arms to launch himself a bit to the side, seemingly in an attempt to strafe around the goblin, but there was more to his tactic than that. He needed to know how Pedro, and in effect, Gobby, would react to his motions; he needed to poke and prod at them to glimpse their strategy. “Ho, there!” Should the Gobby attempt to engage, Nenkin would shout in response, likely not yet realizing the little thing’s strength, would not bother to dodge whatever attacks came his way, "Coming..." and attempt to grab it, extending all of his toxic barbs, and would attempt to throw it back towards Pedro! "Or going?!"

Pedro grinned. He liked snail guy's attitude. He was already looking forward to this showdown. Gobby did as well, hopping eagerly and awaiting the moment when it could begin its strike. Holding its bat with one hand, it used its other hand to slightly pull down an eyelid while sticking its tongue out in what was clearly a taunt. "Bleeeegh!!"
The match began, and as Nenkin began to move, Gobby immediately started to waddle towards him. "Gyaaaargh!" But while the summon moved forward, the summoner moved back a bit. Not that Pedro was bad at close range combat by any means, but his preference was definitely fighting from afar. It was fun to shoot stuff from his paintball gun. So while Gobby moved in to fight Nenkin, Pedro hoped to be able to attack from afar. Just need to make sure Gobby keeps him occupied. Just buy me some time while I get a proper aim....
The blue goblin grinned as it got ready to intercept Nenkin. But then the snail man began to move off to the side. With a toothy grin, Gobby began to chase after Nenkin, determined to not let him slip on by. As the goblin readied itself to grab Nenkin, it noticed the toxic barbs. Despite looking, acting, and sounding like a dummy, the goblin was not nearly as stupid as it looked. It knew that touching those barbs directly would mean trouble of some kind. So with a swing of its bat, Gobby would attempt to whack Nenkin away without touching him directly.
If the bat missed, then Nenkin would notice the dent on the floor of the ring, making it obvious that the little summon was definitely not lacking in strength. If the swing hit its mark on the other hand, then Nenkin would be pushed back quite a bit. Not too far, but far more than what an average person with a bat would do. Either way, seeing as there was no point in hiding its strength, the goblin decided to just not bother. Instead, its rather impressive power would be revealed rather quickly.
But in any case, Gobby had done what it had meant to do. Push Nenkin away, whether that was by hitting him, or the guy moving out of the way of the goblin's attack. Regardless, Pedro now had an opening. He smiled as he took aim, finger on the trigger and ready to squeeze.
"SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!"
With a surprisingly loud (but not overwhelmingly so) bang, the paintball gun shot out one of Pedro's smoke balls. It did not hit Nenkin directly, but the sudden release of smoke meant that keeping an eye on Gobby would not be as easy as it was earlier. And of course, the summon would capitalize on this, trying to move around as quietly as it could, hoping to ambush the snail guy and catch him off-guard.
Aw yeah! How do you like my Smoking Stealthy Super Strike? Now get him, Gobby!
But of course, Pedro made sure to keep his distance. Not too far away, as his weapons did not have that kind of range. But hopefully far enough to where he would not need to worry about being attacked so easily. All I gotta do is keep my distance while Gobby whales on him. As long as we play it smart, then we got this!
But of course, the match had only just begun. It was far too soon to decide who exactly would end up being victorious. Anything could happen. This was why Pedro was being cautious and careful. One miscalculation, and everything would fall apart.

" Lo! Such crude weapons are no match for-!" WHACK!
Oh, pain, burning searing pain! When last had he felt anything like this? Best he could do was liken it to his grandmother's preferred form of punishment, alas, it had still been many years since! The snail boy would tumble to the ground and easily roll back on to all fours! He shook himself a bit, the barbs which had been broken off began to grow back, and the dark green bruising under his skin was slowly, but steadily healing. He paced around the little monster, but Pedro could tell Nenkin's eyes were rather trained on him as he fired the smoke bomb!
"Hark! You think cheap tricks are going to stop the mighty Es-Kar-Go?" What was the game here? Trying to sneak around? Support surprisingly strong monster from afar for an easy win? Nenkin wasn't so foolish to waste all his time on that thing. Ironic as the plan might have been, he felt that the moment he could place himself between monster and summoner he could get the upper hand in this fight.
"The universe has a rule, Pedro!"
If the goblin was in the smoke with him, it stood to reason that the ugly thing was just as blind! He had an opening then, and he wasn't going to blunder about and waste a good opportunity!
"If brute force doesn't work the first time..." With the mist as thin as he was, he would keep his swiveling and peeled for a silhouette be it that of an approaching monster or the distant outline of Pedro himself!
"Then you're not using enough brute force!" Nenkin would bound forward with all his might straight out of the mist, toxic barbs raised! Part of him hoping that he would be able to trample the little goblin under his mighty weight. Should he miss, he would barrel out of the mist at full speed, and would pivot himself towards Pedro and charge straight for him! Mattering not if he managed to catch Gobby or Pedro himself, he would attempt to tackle them straight to the ground.
Should his tackle land true, and should its mark be the goblin, he would attempt to rip the bat out of its hands with one of his own, and then attempt to punch the thing in the face with his other! Should he manage to get close to Pedro, he would attempt the same tackle, but would try to rip the gun out of his hand instead!

Yes! Mission success! Pedro grinned as he saw Gobby's attack hit its mark. Still, he knew that it would not be easy. After all, his opponent was a snail guy, so it stood to reason that he would be quite resilient. Still, Pedro could be quite persistent, and Gobby was a stubborn little guy. Only time would tell if that resilience of Nenkin's would let him outlast the Delinquent Duo.
Of course, Pedro did not expect the smokescreen to stop his opponent for long. Which was why he quickly began to prepare his next attack. But just as he was about to aim his paintball gun, the grin on his face vanished as he saw Nenkin rush at Gobby. And what was worse, the guy had something sticking out of him. Barbs of some kind? Shit, are those poisonous? There was no point in yelling out to Gobby to get out of the way. First, the summon knew that it should. And second...
...there was no time to dodge, so there was no way Gobby could.
"GAAAAAAAAAGH!!"
The best Gobby could do was try to swat Nenkin away, but even that would prove to be pointless. The bat was taken away from the summon. Seeing this, Gobby simply braced for impact. Sure, it was used to being tougher than most people expected. Still, it did not want to risk taking a hit it was not one hundred percent absolutely sure it could take. Who knew what tricks this snail man was hiding? In the end, Gobby's decision proved to be the right one, as it was pushed back with a surprising amount of force.
Shit, that guy has some serious power to push Gobby back like that! After landing almost right in front of Pedro, Gobby stood up, ready to go back in for more... only to suddenly look a bit nauseous. Uh oh! This isn't good! Pedro was unsure if his basic first-aid kit would be enough to help treat whatever kind of toxin was causing Gobby's nausea. "It's okay, buddy! Just try not to puke, and..." "BWARGH!" Pedro just sighed as he saw the poor goblin vomit a bit. Good thing I stepped back a bit, or my suit would need some serious washing after this!
But of course, Pedro did not have much time until Nenkin came for him. With the goblin being nauseous, it was only natural that the snail man would come for the summoner next. It was a basic strategy. "Not bad, dude!" Pedro then held his gun firmly, aiming it at Nenkin. "But we're not going down so quickly!"
He then let loose two shots. Both of them were smoke balls that were aimed straight for Nenkin. However, there was more to the attack than just that. Pedro knew that a bit of smoke was not enough by itself. So he just needed them as a diversion. If he could obscure Nenkin's sight for even a second, then that was all he would need. Pedro quickly took out his rope, held one end, and tossed the other end at Gobby. While the summon still felt nauseous, it was far from done with fighting. Their goal? To extend the rope and hope to make Nenkin trip and faceplant on the ground. Hopefully with the initial shock of the smoke ball to the face (assuming it landed, of course), he would be running too fast to stop himself from colliding with the rope and tripping.
And that was not all. With its free hand, Gobby walked over to its puke puddle and literally scooped some of it up. Yes it was disgusting, but the goblin had an idea. A way to possibly turn Nenkin's toxic barbs against him. Assuming that Nenkin avoided the rope, Gobby would aim to throw the puke at his feet, hoping to make Nenkin slip and fall. But if the rope had managed to do that first, then Gobby would aim it at Nenkin's face, just to blind him momentarily. Either way, it wanted to give Pedro more time to go for his next move. And if Nenkin did fall down, then with rope in hand, the two would attempt to get closer to Nenkin to try to tie him up with the rope.
But would this be enough for the Delinquent Duo? Would Nenkin slip and fall, either by rope or puke? Or would he find a way to get past the duo's tricks?

Nenkin rose to his feet, that baseball bat in hand! It took far too much effort for him to wrestle the damned sports equipment out of that beast's clutch. It was reeling from his strike now, though he had never seen his toxin make something vomit like that, It must not have been strong enough to inhibit the wretched thing's movements!. Pedro was right, of course, in Nenkin's mind he knew that the monster was tied to its master. Perhaps were he a more brutal or persistent sort he would have taken the goblin out while it was still down, but that would just wear on his own constitution. Indeed, Nenkin was a large kid, and moving around like this took a lot of energy, energy that he had only just learned to start managing. He still desperately needed training. He slung the relatively small bat over his shoulder and swiveled his eyes to lock gaze with Pedro. " I'd hope not, Pedro, we've just started!" Despite his size, the giant student would move with surprising ease, swiveling on his feet, he would start to run at the boy once more, but he was not the kind of fool to fall for the same tricks twice! He raised his hand to guard his face from the onslaught of oversized projectiles. His second hand would immediately place itself on the handle of the baseball bat. The snail boy thought Pedro would have learned the first time through. Well, the expectation might have fallen a bit heavily. The smoke never lingered and was surprisingly thin. Nenkin would have likened it to a cheap firework at best. Regardless, he would be able to see their outlines in the thin obscurement. Had he lips, he would have smiled. " Smoke to cover your movement?I won’t fall for this sly trick again! You didn't even move!" Acting quickly, he would attempt to vault over the rope to deliver a smack to the awaiting and Pedro! Alas, it would be a swing and a miss not that the smattering of vomit would actually manage to trip the boy, no, rather it served as a timely distraction! The attack took him by surprise! Convinced that he was about to suffer an attack from his flank, he would pivot around and strike at the thin air! “I fell for it?!” He didn’t even want to think about the smelly substance that was currently splashed against the pants of his tracksuit, but deep down he knew, and that stung at the back of his mind more than anything else right now! He had no doubt that Gobby would be back up an running too soon for him to keep chasing after the slippery summoner. The boy groaned, and would attempt to grab on to the rope that the duo had been using before in his free hand, and, assuming that the goblin would keep holding on, would attempt to yank both the rope and gobby's head into range of a good baseball bat THWACK!
