Under most circumstances, second chances are something of a miracle to come by. Whether it be something simple like a relationship, or something as hefty as a job you failed at previously, the idea of a second chance was to not screw up or do poorly again. They don't come lightly, and if a person is smart, they will know how much it actually did matter. Because...if you messed up now, there was next to no chance that another opportunity will show itself again. This was the thought that streamed through Jack's head as strode toward the entrance to the tournament grounds. The only student who would probably ever get the chance he was given and the idea of that alone weighed heavily on the dragon boy's shoulders. When he had originally joined U.A., the Sports Fest came practically immediately, with Jack having next to no proper training at the time. As a result, he was sloppy, he didn't even know how to treat his draconic form like another base for him. They almost lost, and it was probably almost entirely because of him. This time, though, was different. The only returning student this year, Jack knew that many eyes would be on him. In a way, it was exhilarating; the sheer idea that he may have more eyes on him than last year, the idea that people were expecting a lot of him...his teachers, his friends, the people that would be watching. He was determined not to let them down; this was HIS second chance. And he knew damn well that he couldn't just let it pass. He was stronger than before; though there was the issue of people who trained just as hard as he has. All the more reason not to take any fights lightly; just was one of his teachers stated, all-out, clean finish, right from the start. He knew the bare minimum about his opponent, Travis Blythe. The apparent star pupil of the New Zealand and Australian school. Of all people to get paired up with first, it would likely be one of, if not the, hardest fights he would have to undergo during this tournament. He nodded to himself, blowing steam through his nose. He practically HAD to do well, lest he not only get scolded by his teacher but get his ass kicked again by Meara, who was particularly keen on his success. Why he had no idea. It wasn't until recently that they had been talking and teasing one another like crazy, past all the normal hanging out and sparring they did. Maybe that was why; she couldn't bear to see her training partner fail so soon. All the more reason not to take this first fight lightly, he supposed. That said, that didn't mean he wasn't about to be dramatic about the matter. As he would be announced in, Jack would immediately take into a running start into the arena, pressing a button on a remote in his pocket. A half dozen, rather large speakers have been placed around the arena for all of his classmates to use, whether it just be to set the mood of their entrance, or whether it be to have a rocking battle theme play as thunderous battles waged. In Jack's case, it was both. He was here to show everyone what he could do, to grab as much attention as he could, and he was about to show it. The music blared through the stadium at a reasonable volume, mixed in with the crowd's cheers and yells. Jack took off into the sky, waving at everyone in the crowds for a second, before immediately shifting into his draconic form. He knew that his space was limited, so he elected to no go full-sized, and stick to the size of the average car. It gave him maximum maneuverability and was easily the best form for the majority of his fights. It was best to shift now, to save energy. He landed across from his opponent, roaring proudly as the crowds both screamed and cheered at the sight of a ferocious dragon replaced the small boy that was there a mere second ago. He stared down his opponent, giving a surprisingly friendly grin towards him. "Hiya! It's nice to meet ya, Mr. Blythe. Hope to give ya a hell of a time, yeah?" he said, his voice relatively normal despite the light growl to it. He kept things short and sweet, the grin fading as his eyes turned serious. As soon as they would be given the go ahead, Jack would promptly stalk around his opponent like a predator, waiting for him to make the first move. He knew the basics of his Quirk, but he didn't know what all he could do with it, much like his opponent might not know all that much about him. This would definitely be an explosive start to their battle, to say the least.

"If you break any of this shit, I ain't repairing fuckin' any of it for free." A boy with hair of bright pink would complain and fuss as he handed over the last piece that a certain Australian student needed for his upcoming fight. "Linnie made a bet with me the other kid would win, by the way. Bitch is probably just messing with you, but hey, it's another reason not to lose."Though he'd been relatively quiet as he prepared himself within the tunnel leading up to the arena, that little comment earned a chuckle from Travis Blythe, the top combatant of ANZHOP College. "Yeah, that sounds like Linnie. Of course, she skips P.E. so much, she doesn't know what I got up my sleeves." Travis said, taking the last piece he needed, and tucking into it his custom-made Hero suit. With one last crack of the neck, he smiled to himself, bright blonde hair and eager eyes showing a face of confidence and pride that he intended to put on full display to his other classmates when he entered. "Fuck 'em up, Trav."With those last encouraging words from ANZHOP College's resident tinkerer, "Servo", Travis Blythe headed towards the end of the tunnel. As he did, with no eyes upon him, that self-confident look began to waver. ANZHOP College was a newcomer in the world of Hero Schools. They were at the 'bottom', and the place they were right now... May well be considered the 'top'. The importance of that fact was not at all lost on him... For he had to be the one to show that even their humble countries were capable of competing with the juggernaut of the Pro Hero world. He felt the weight of those expectations on his shoulders, and realised more than ever that he had to show what he was made of. The top combatant of ANZHOP College, it's premier sportsman, it's brilliant star... Would give it his all, so that he could show the entire world just what these 'newcomers' were made of. Sure, right now they were at the bottom, and U.A. was at the top. It wouldn't be easy for them to make that climb to proving themselves. Yet, just as he exited the tunnel, Travis Blythe wore that cocky grin of his once more. After all, he already knew... "It's a long way to the top..."He'd witnessed his opponent's dramatic entry as he approached the arena, standing across from him just as Jack landed. The Australian student was clad in all white, wearing what looked to be a cricketer's attire, with one notable addition; the large jacket he wore over it, covered in green and gold accents... The national colors of his country. In one hand, he held what looked to be an almost metallic cricket ball, and he tossed it idly up and down as he strolled in, showing no fear against his larger opponent. Even as Travis was very out-cheered by the student's home crowd. Jack gave his greeting, and Travis nodded his head lightly. The attractive blond boy shot a winning smile, catching the cricket ball in his hand and holding it before replying. "Likewise." Was all he offered. Even as Jack seemed to turn serious, Travis kept that cool and collected visage... Even as the beginning of the match was announced! It didn't start with a big flashy move, as instead, Jack stalked around, waiting for a first move... Jack idly followed suite, stepping around as he began to speak again. "Y'know, you U.A. kids sure are flashy... Big, scary Quirk like that, makes me wonder how I'm gonna survive." He joked, though really... There was certainly some fear there. He'd just gotten good at hiding it. "Then again appearances ain't everything. David could beat Goliath with nothin' but a pebble. And me..."He suddenly stopped walking, pulled out his hardened cricket ball again, and assumed what would probably be an unfamiliar stance to the Japanese and Americans watching. He prepared for a cricket bowl. "Well, I'm pretty good at flinging 'pebbles'."With a strong overarm throw, Travis swung his limbs around to launch the ball at the ground to the right of Jack... Only for it to bounce and cut across rapidly to the left, this hardened projectile shooting across with a sudden change of trajectory! Already, Travis was showing the power of his 'Spin'... With a powerful curveball!

Jack's eyes narrowed slightly at his opponent's seemingly calm attitude. He couldn't really tell if the guy was just faking it, or if he was really just that confident in himself. Even as the dragon stalked around him, the Australian boy had on a bit of a smug smile. He snorted a bit, both a bit amused by the boy's outwardly confidence, but also wary of his skills. Surely, he had a reason to act confident, right...? All the more reason to end this quickly. Besides, he still had an Irish girl to impress, after all. He stopped for a split second, wondering where THAT thought came from, before promptly shaking it off and continuing.
Travis then promptly started walking around as well, the two students eyeing each other as they circled each other. Even with the loud music blaring and the crowd roaring, the tension in the air was unmistakable. Jack's body was tense, ready to dodge at a moment's notice as he wondered what Travis was going to do. The Australian boy then started making small talk, noting how U.A. students were all flashy, with Jack's Quirk, in particular, making him wonder how he was gonna survive. Jack's eyes narrowed, wondering how much truth was in that statement. "You're here, aren't you? That says enough for me, no matter the Quirk," he said simply, a show of respect, yet a show of awareness as well. He wouldn't be here if he didn't know how to use his Quirk, after all. Otherwise, they wouldn't be fighting right now.
Travis then continued, saying how appearances aren't everything. He then mentioned how David beat Goliath with just a pebble, making the dragon scoff lightly, but he said nothing yet. His opponent then stopped, getting into an admittedly unfamiliar pose, but one that Jack got the gist of as Travis prepared to throw the metal cricket ball in his hand, stating how he was good at throwing 'pebbles'. With that final statement, the boy then threw the ball right towards Jack.
The dragon's response was immediate. Rather than dodge, Jack took the throw as a way to compare their strengths. He promptly fired a black and white plasma ball right from his mouth, aiming to counter the ball and send it right back to its owner before it hit even the ground. As soon as the blast left his mouth, Jack was on the move, aiming to close the distance between the two quickly. As he would get closer, Jack would lunge at Travis, teeth and claws bared. "If you think that I'm like Goliath, you're sorely mistaken!" he bellowed.
However, instead of trying to attack with either his teeth or his claws, at the last second Jack would flap his wings, giving the dragon an extra light jump as he would suddenly turn away, and swung his tail at full strength at Travis! If the attack connected, it would hopefully send Travis more towards the center of the arena, Jack landing gracefully across from him in the meantime, though he was still on the move, running and hopping around as he waited to see how Travis would react before the dragon would continue his attack.

Jack's words offered little encouragement to the Australian boy, he just grinned more. So what if he was 'here'? That didn't mean shit, considering where 'here' was. Right now, he was on a bigger stage than any he'd ever been, representing ANZHOP College. A new, bright school that still had to claw it's way to the top if it wanted to contend with big shots like U.A. Just being here didn't mean anything; proving that they were worthy of being there was all that mattered.
Travis intended to just that, and give the fight of his life. The tools at his disposal would allow him to do just that! The hardened cricket ball he used was launched in a standard spin bowl, but before it even got the chance to bounce, the dragon by blasted it with some weird-looking fire. About what he'd expected, given the Aussie was mostly trying to test the waters. However, the blast wouldn't send it back his way - instead, Jack would find that the force just about cancelled out, the cricket ball taking the brunt of the blast and clattering to the ground.
'Top stuff, Servo...'
Though he was satisfied his tools could go toe-to-toe with the dragon, Travis didn't have much time to be satisfied with himself, as Jack was moving towards him with the intent to deal some damage! The sportsman wasn't exactly built to take hits, so he stepped back and reached into his jacket, ready to respond.
"Ha! Goliath, Dragon, Monster... All it ever takes is one regular bloke!" His mask of confidence drove him forward, and he wasn't going to drop it anytime soon! With one hand in his jacket, he remained poised... Until the last second, when a tail swipe came his way!
At that moment, he pulled out the trick in his jacket - what looked to be a metal spike, about 70cm long. Some might recognize it as a cricket stump. As the tail came his way, he planted the spike in the ground, it spun rapidly - flinging his body around with it as he clung on! Stopping the spin suddenly after it had barely started, he sent himself flying over the tail with thespike in hand. As he hit the ground, Travis rolled, looking up to the dragon and grinning. They were both starting to show what they could do, but neither had shown everything they had.
”Alright… Warm-ups are over.”
Attaching the stump to a clip on his belt, Travis lunged forward and reached into his jacket to pull out another pair of his spherical projectiles, launching them with his same over-arm swing. The first was thrown straight and bounced hard right, the second shot right and came in left. He pulled out a third and launched it, all while running straight towards Jack. The last one he applied a ton of backspin too, throwing it up high, aiming to get it over Jack, where it would aim to land behind the boy and bounce back towards him!
The onslaught of unpredictable projectiles was unleashed, and Travis decided to follow local customs.
”How do ya like ‘em!? These are Hell's Bells!”
Technique names were a local Japanese custom, right?

Steam blew from Jack's nose lightly as his opponent continued with his banter, making light of how all it took was a regular bloke who took down the big bad monster at the end of the day. The dragon couldn't help but find his opponent's lack of tact rather annoying, especially when he specifically used the term 'monster'. All of Jack's life he had been called that, and now yet another Quirker was calling him such, whether it was intentional or not. However, the dragon kept his temper to a minimum, instead using the light frustration to push him forward. Nobody was going to keep him down like that...not now, not ever again.
His frustration aside, Jack did make a light note at how his attack had completely canceled out with the metal ball that Travis had thrown at him. At the least, then...that meant his equipment was probably as tough as his scales were. That didn't bode too well with the dragon boy, especially as he realized how much a few balls could actually do to him, should he let them hit him. The testing did its job, at least; it let Jack formulated a strategy, albeit a quick one, given his situation.
As Jack then lunged towards his opponent in an attempt to feint him, Travis saw right through his attack, using a metal rod of sorts to fling himself right over his tail, landing gracefully at the same time as Jack did. The dragon snorted lightly at the maneuver, acknowledging the boy's skills. However, the brief exchange told Jack everything he needed to know about his opponent's abilities; particularly the idea that he relied on his tools to really use his Quirk effectively. That said, he couldn't really take advantage of that fact unless he knew the extent of what he could do with the tools he did have.
And, apparently, now was a good time to observe. Travis began to charge towards the dragon, beginning to throw balls at and above him. The dragon lightly snorted at Travis apparently calling them 'Hell's Bells', though said nothing in response. Jack immediately went on the move, aiming to at least make himself a harder target as he ran around Travis, keeping his wings tucked in tightly on his back. He had to be wary of when he decided to take off into the air, what with the limits of how high he could actually go and the like.
As Travis threw his balls, Jack would at the least attempt to blast the one that Travis sent right over him, using his tail to fire a sudden beam at the ball. Assuming he had that one taken care of, there was now a matter of the other two that Travis had thrown. Using now as an opportunity, Jack would then jump up, suddenly untucking his wings and flapping a few times to give him some light air, hoping to at least avoid those two for the time being.
If successful, Jack would then use his wings to glide towards Travis, firing a mighty black and white laser from his mouth. He would then attempt to chase Travis with the laser, not actually putting too much energy into it; the idea was just to keep him on the move and get him into just the right position. As an actual second feint, Jack would fire a light plasma ball from his tail at Travis, aiming to keep his opponent off guard.
If that was successful, Jack would then suddenly fly in for his true attack: A sudden slash from his left paw! He would attempt to get a decent hit off on his opponent, once again trying to aim him towards the center of the stage, to prevent him from getting rung out. A sudden flash of Meara watching him came into mind, making the dragon boy shoot another puff of steam from his nose, the dragon landing as he wouldn't wait for Travis to respond to all of it, charging at him at top speed once more!

Travis charged forth, unleashing his Hell's Bells in the hopes they would either force Jack to preoccupy himself with dealing with them, or let Travis himself get a good hit in. He knew he probably wasn't as sturdy as the beast before him, so Travis needed to pull out everything he could to get some good hits in. He needed to land more hits on Jack than Jack needed to on him, so he'd have to be tricky and clever with this ability of his! Much to the Australian's surprise, the dragon didn't just breathe that strange fire, he could also fire it from other parts of his body, as one blast of plasma would knock one of his balls off course. It was damn troublesome, but it least Travis now knew that about his opponent. As he continued rushing toward Jack, Travis knew that he had to pull off this plan if he wanted to be the first one to get a proper hit in! The other two balls would miss their mark thanks to Jack's dodge, but Travis was happy to just keep the other boy on his toes, and expending energy as he had to deal with every projectile thrown his way. After that Jack saw fit to try and keep Travis on his feet with a laser directed right at him. Fortunately, that was already Travis' plan: keep moving and get in close, so he could pull out 'that' trick of his. He would keep running from Jack's laser, trying to get closer to the other boy, while using the stump at his hip for extra mobility by occasionally planting it in the ground to boost himself forward with a quick spin.
The ball of plasma would be dodged with a quick dive, which left him in a crouched position to take Jack's second attack! "Bugger..." There was no dodging this one. From his crouched position, Travis whipped out his stump again, holding it out with one hand to block Jack's slash as it came in! Though the long metal spike managed to prevent the claws from tearing into him, the force behind it struck his right arm immediately. He gritted his teeth as his bones and muscles were struck with pain, and he slid back a few meters, only for Jack to rush in again. They'd taken the fight to melee range...
'Hah... Exactly where I want ya...' Staying on one knee, Travis planted his iron stump into the ground, before reaching into his Jacket and pulling out another ball. This one was different from the others, it was much... Coarser. As Jack came into melee range, he'd suddenly slam that ball into the ground, spinning it around into the earth, grinding away at everything beneath it, and creating a thick dust that quickly engulfed Travis and the area around him, leaving him obscured and hidden in this strange fog! The ball kept spinning, and even if Jack tried to blow the dust away, more quickly came, so the dust cloud couldn't be fully dispelled... Meanwhile, Travis wasted no time within the cloud, his movements hopefully hidden from from the dragon boy. He pulled out another different ball from his jacket, and while hopefully hidden in the dust, threw it forward. A simple, fast throw, one that hit the ground quickly and shot up with such force that a loud crack could be hard as it shot up into the air, aimed right at the dragon's torso. The type of bowl Travis had used was his specialty, one that dropped quick and bounced hard and fast. It was the origin of his Hero name. 'Topspinner'.

Jack couldn't help but internally cackle as Travis fell right into his trap, the Australian boy quickly taking off in response to the dragon's false laser. Once Jack had gotten him in a good spot, he promptly fired a plasma ball from his tail, causing Travis to jump out of its path. Jack grinned devilishly as it all began to unfold. It was almost too easy, the dragon immediately taking the opportunity to close the distance, aiming to swipe at Travis with his paw!
However, his opponent was just as fast as Jack was. At the very last second, Travis managed to use his metal pole to block the attack. The damage was most definitely done, though, as he still skidded back as Jack had intended. "What, can't handle a little love tap?" he taunted, hoping to rile him up lightly. "Maybe I was wrong before...this won't be as much of an issue as I thought." Of course, it was all a bunch of bull spewing from his mouth. The guy was clever, Jack had to admit. That doesn't mean that he was about to admit that now, though. After the fight, probably. But right now, it was all a matter of playing one's cards correctly.
As such, Jack would promptly begin to close the distance once again, aiming to finish this up and knock the bastard out. However, as Jack was playing his own cards, Travis was also playing his own. The moment Jack got close, Travis would suddenly stick his metal pipe into the ground, and immediately throw yet another metal ball into the ground. Jack immediately backed away, assuming that it would try to bounce forward at him like the rest of his balls thus far.
However, that would prove to be the wrong assumption, the ball instead spinning on the ground like a top, grinding into the ground and sending up a huge dust storm, obscuring both students' vision! "Clever..." he muttered, immediately shifting gears as he tried to adapt to his situation. He was once again on the move, not wanting to stay in one place for too long. Even so, it wouldn't be enough to completely dodge what came next, as a metal ball suddenly appeared from the unknown, hitting the ground and aiming right up for Jack!
Jack was quick, and immediately jumped out of the way. However, as fast has he was, the ball was equally as quick. Instead of hitting Jack directly in the torso, it hit another spot that was almost as painful: his tail. Luckily, Jack was already fully transformed, so it didn't hurt as much as it could've, but it still hurt a good amount. Jack grunted in pain, but remained vigilant, still on the move.
Thinking fast, Jack decided to use the dust cloud to his own advantage. He would suddenly begin to shrink down, and within mere seconds, was suddenly in his much smaller dragon form! The dust cloud was more than efficient enough to cover his tracks, and move stealthily enough as he would attempt to find his opponent. He ,moved as quietly as he could, moving fast so that Travis wouldn't be able to detect him.
As an added bonus, Jack would then suddenly fire a small laser from his aching tail, hoping to use the light noise as a distraction. The moment Travis' outline began to appear, Jack would then fire a full powered laser, right from his mouth! Whether it was a direct hit or not meant nothing, so long as it even partially hit. Whatever the result, Jack would then immediately bolt back into the cover of the storm, once again waiting for Travis to appear, whether it be via chasing him or Jack once again getting the jump on him. A true fighter used his environment to his advantage, and Travis wasn't the only one with tools at his disposal!

Although Jack's comments did sting deep down, Travis didn't drop his mask of confidence. If anything, it only made him raise that tool of his even higher up, grinning back at Jack as though he didn't have any care for what the boy had to say. "C'mon, if you don't wanna be Goliath, why are you talking shit and acting so full of it like the Big Bad? Don't you know that just makes it more satisfying once you get beat by the Human Hero?" He'd taunt back. Travis did genuinely perceive this as his own underdog fight, him having to rely on ingenuity to get the upper hand on an opponent who outclassed him in raw power and size. He did just that with his special trick, using a dust cloud to conceal and unleash his most powerful technique. The nature of this trick meant he couldn't use it at full power, however, as he wanted to save the most decisive shot in his arsenal for last. Knowing that his one landed, judging by the sound if it striking, was all he needed for now. However, it seemed his opponent wasn't going to wait around to take another one, as the dragon's shape quickly shrunk through the dust before him, until it was out of sight. Travis' immediate assumptions was that the boy had reverted to his human form to try and hide in the dust cloud too. That didn't mean he'd lose all his tricks, however, so Travis was wary, placing a hand on one of his dust-cloud creating balls and reversing the spin, preventing new dust from rising. The cloud would fall soon enough, but until then, he'd need to be vigilant... Pulling out his stump with one hand, he drew another ball in the other, ready to strike as he kept his senses keen. A flash of light drew his eyes, but he was quick to raise his metal stump as a safeguard. Nothing came, however... Until a small outline appearred as he glanced around, and Travis found a great blast fired his way! Diving out of the way, Travis would black a partial hit with his metal stump again, though the tool was starting to take some damage... It looked beaten and bruised, burned and bending. It could barely take another hit, and then he'd be down an important tool... Realizing his opponent was trying to get the jump on him, Travis didn't want to let him get another sneak attack in before the dust fell! Reaching into his jacket again, he stowed his stump and pulled out two metal cricket balls. If this guy wanted to play in the smoke, he could turn it to his advantage too... With a pair of low, underarm throws, Travis would throw his balls to the ground, placing a strong spin on them as he did. Rather than bouncing, however, they simply rolled with that trajectory, spinning violently as they circled around him, expanding outward to try and catch any attackers off-guard, as the dust would make it difficult to see them before they got close! For good measure, he threw another two, just after, spinning around the opposite direction... The tension was high, and once it broke, there was no telling which way the fight would go...

Jack's eyes narrowed slightly as Travis once again put out another taunt, putting the dragon boy down as if he were purely just a monster. The 'Human Hero'? It was almost laughable, honestly. However...deep down, anger did begin to boil down in Jack's core. Was that all he would ever be to people, even to other Quirkers? The 'Big Bad'? A monster? He had been called such things enough in his life, so why must it continue?
However, as his mind began to darken, his attention was the returned back to reality, as if time slowed down. The were crowds upon crowds of people...a good lot of them cheering for him. He remembered the people he had befriended in his year in Musutafu, his classmates who awaited his triumph...and the woman who he could almost hear cheering from across the ocean. While Travis' grin may have well be faked, the grin that Jack returned was most genuine. He had people he was fighting for; he wasn't about to let some prick decide what he was.
As the taunting once again died down, the action began to rev up as Travis threw down his dust cloud, and Jack used his own advantages to counter him. If Travis thought it was simply a matter of the dragon's strength versus his ingenuity...he was sorely mistaken. This was proven as such as, while he was in his Tiny Dragon form, he managed to get a decent hit off, the sound of metal being damaged being music to Jack's ears. He was pushing the Australian's tools to the very limit, and...sooner or later, he would run out of them. That was exactly what Jack was counting on. The moment his opponent was out of cards to play...well, game over.
That said, it wasn't as if Jack wasn't beginning to use up his own cards, including his stamina. His breathing was getting only slightly heavier, but not so much that it was an immediate problem. He still had plenty of energy to go off of; though he would need to finish this fight soon.
This thought became ever evident, as Jack kept himself on the move so that his opponent wouldn't see him. He then began to notice that the dust cloud wasn't increasing as violently as it was before. Jack could tell that he must've ceased using what was causing the storm. It was only a matter of time before the dust fell, and both would be back out in the open. If Jack could just get one good hit off before that happened...!
Before that, however, Jack would suddenly be attacked from both sides! Four, spinning metal balls closed in on him, threatening to crush him if he was hit! Having only a split second to spare, Jack quickly jumped up and began to flutter in the air, and hopefully stay at least partially safe in the meantime. If Jack could sweat, he would be sweating bullets at the moment. How many balls did this guy have??
Nonetheless, knowing that time was of the essence, Jack flew around in a circle as well, knowing that if there was any time to gain a massive hit, it was now! Jack would begin to fire a full-powered laser not just from his mouth, but his tail as well! The two lasers would move around the arena as well, hitting whatever was unfortunate enough to be in their trajectory.
However, Jack wasn't just aiming for Travis, wherever he may be. His main targets were the already used balls that lay all over the arena, including those that were currently spinning around! Now was the time to limit his opponent as much as humanly possible, and Jack was taking full advantage of the dust storm that still remained, hoping that Travis wouldn't see two lasers coming at him at once! He prayed that his attacks had at least some of the desired effect...and, hopefully, then some.

Jack really couldn't take what he dished out when it came to taunting, but Travis didn't pick up on that. There was no malice in the Australian boys' words, just his own response to the showboating of power and strength that Jack put on until it was turned back on him. If he'd known Jack was treating it like genuine insults, he'd have been surprised at the fragility of the other boy, given his own taunts.
To Travis, he was just meeting the standards set, and responding as needed. Yet, none of this was about boasting or stoking a fragile ego. It was a responsibility, one that weighed heavily upon his shoulders... Jack wasn't the only one with people cheering him on after all.
In the smoke cloud, Travis used his own tools to great effect. His Quirk was far simpler than his opponents, lacking in the raw power, so he needed to make the most of his own abilities. It wasn't just about tricks, it was about technique. When it come to throwing 'pebbles', after all... He was pretty experienced!
Although his athleticism continued to let him perform, Travis wanted to end things quickly too, given he wasn't quite as sturdy once his tools were depleted. The rollers he sent out missed their mark, but he had managed to continue to keep his opponent on edge. Staying focused and ready, he kept his eyes out for the counterattack... As the dust began to thin, it wasn't too difficult to spot continuous lasers piercing through the air! Dust couldn't obscure that much light, after all.
As the piercing attacks cut through the air, Travis grit his teeth down, and rushed towards their source as the lasers swept around. As the first one came, he'd dive through it, blocking the attack with his stump... As it was cut in half, finally having reached its limit. Travis continued to move forward, and as the second laser approached, and the dust began to thin... Travis slid along the ground, picking up one of the old balls, having almost run out himself.
Travis reared back his arm and unleashed another throw. It had an extreme backspin, causing the ball to arc upward as it flew beneath Jack, aiming to knock the shape Travis saw out of the air!
However, even if his ball hit, Travis wouldn't be able to dive out of the way of the beam in time, being blasted back several meters after taking the shot on one of his arms, incapacitating it for the time being. Even so, he'd get to his feet again, grinning through the pain.
The dust fell fully, leaving nothing hiding them anymore!
"No hiding now... Better keep your eye on the ball, mate... ANZHOP's still got plenty left for U.A.! I ain't lettin' my team down here!"

As Jack quickly began to fly around the arena, shooting out lasers from both his mouth and his tail, despite the obvious racing of his heart due to exertion, the dragon would find himself quickly beginning to calm himself, his mind clearing fully as he moved. While the Australian boy's words may have struck a nerve within him, Jack also quickly realized that he didn't mean anything by it. Why would he? They had just met; it was simply just a reply to Jack's own taunting, albeit on a more personal level to the dragon. With this in mind, he took a deep breath as he flew, shooting steam out of his nose as he would continue his assault on his opponent.
As the dust began to clear, the outline of Travis would become clearer by the second. The dim sight of his pole finally being broken as a bit uplifting to the small dragon, knowing that the scales were slowly beginning to shift. Jack continued to fire in all directions, knowing that his opponent wouldn't be able to dodge without being seen, the thin dust showing both students' movements. The sight of Travis' staff being broken was a most welcomed one, Jack knowing how troublesome of a tool that was previously. It was all beginning to come to a head...the fight's climax had begun.
As Jack continued his onslaught, Travis knew well that it was now or never when it came to striking. In an impressive display of movement, Travis fluidly slid on the ground, picked up one of the balls Jack must have missed in his attack, and threw it in his direction. Jack quickly spun out of the way, getting a good nick on the side of his chest, making Jack yelp in pain as he made a quick landing.
As the dust began to clear, the true identity of the little nuisance that Travis had been dealing with would reveal itself. The crowd made a multitude of noises, ranging from confusion to awwing and cooing over the small, baby-ish dragon form that took the place of the much larger one that had been present earlier. Jack shook himself off a little bit, spitting out a bit of blood as the pain in his side sunk in.
Jack would eye up at his opponent as a small standoff would ensue, the look in his eyes, while probably adorable to some, was still just as much the look of a predator as his bigger form was. He would smirk lightly, his eyes narrowing just a little. "Like I said, not much of a Goliath," he said simply, circling around Travis once more. "Y'know...I know it's all just banter, but y'know how many times I've been called things like that? A monster? A demon, even? It can get annoying, some days."
With that, he would suddenly sit down on his haunches, though his body was still very much tense, in the case that Travis would try attacking once more. If he didn't, though, Jack would continue. "Then again, maybe that's why I have my regular self and this smaller form. I'm no monster...I'm just...a guy with a dragon's heart, you could say." He snorted lightly at that, thinking a bit on how much that fit him more than being a 'dragon king', or whatever.
After Travis would reply, Jack would then suddenly shift back into his normal form, cracking his neck a little and stretching. "That being said...I've got people that I'm fighting for as well, y'know. That's why..." he started, plasma beginning to crackle around him once more as he activated his Quirk again, "Sorry to say, but I'm not losing here, either!" he exclaimed, spreading his wings and soaring at Travis once more.
Once he got within range, Jack would feint a right hook towards Travis' undefended side, before shifting to a kick with his left leg towards his side as hard as he could. As he did, the pain in his side would flare up, causing Jack to wince a little, but he wouldn't stop. If the kick was successful, Jack would immediately shift into an uppercut to his chin, aiming to send his opponent flying. Of course, not off the stage; he did have a promise to knock him out rather than ring him out to upkeep, after all. "Gimme your best shot, Travvy-boy! Better make it count!" he exclaimed, shooting him a bright, toothy grin as he would wait for his opponent to respond.

The dust began to fall, nothing more to hide the combatants as the fight neared its crescendo. The yelp his throw got told Travis he'd hit his mark, but he wasn't counting it in it being enough to end the fight then and there. Instead, the dust settled, revealing the smaller form of his dragon opponent... Looks like he had some tricks Travis hadn't been able to foresee. Changing size wasn't something one usually associated with dragons, after all.
Ready to launch into his final offensive, and use the last trick he had up his sleeve, Travis was on his guard. But it looked like Jack wanted to trade some more banter. "Yeah, we all got our shit..." The Australian boy would retort, lowering his hands to the sides of his legs as he readied to attack. He remained somewhat unperceptive to all the talk, mostly focusing on the fight itself. As much as Jack wanted to stand there and talk about himself, all Travis wanted to do was finally pull out his last card. Jack transformed, and Travis tensed up a bit more. This was good, really... But he couldn't help but still to feel anxious. He'd gotten this far, and he'd done this much. His bravado was starting to wear, but he didn't dare falter. He was the one who the budding ANZHOP had called their combat prodigy, after all, and damned if he wasn't going to show he was worth that title. When Jack finished all his speaking, Travis glanced briefly towards the crowd grinning himself as he faced down the dragon boy. "All you U.A. kids reeeeally love the sound of your own voices, huh..." He stepped back into stance, facing down the beast again. Jack didn't consider himself a 'Goliath', but he was certainly Travis' Goliath.
"Yet all you ever say... Is obvious shit!"
It was all a no-brainer to the Australian student. He had no intentions of losing either. He was fighting for others too. For Servo, who'd lent him these tools. For Timoti, who he'd promised to he'd win. For Samantha, who he really wanted to look good in front. Hell, even for Linda, just to make her lose that bet!
It was obvious, so no point in doing anything but action right now!
Travis crouched his knees, ready to evade with his usual swiftness. A hook came in to one side, only to be feinted into a kick. Travis reached down to his knee, spinning the fabric of his pants to forcibly straighten them as he jumped backward. However, Travis could only barely jump back from the coming uppercut, taking a glancing blow to his chin that made his head start ringing. He wasn't nearly as sturdy as his opponent, after all. Between that and the hits he'd only partially blocked before, his body was sore. But damned if he was about to let that stop him. "Alright... You watchin' this, Servo? Time for your masterpiece." Picking himself up, battered and bruised, Travis reached into his coat and pulled out one last metal ball. This one had a strange design, an odd pattern across the middle of it. Not that one would get much of a chance to look at it, as Travis quickly launched into his attack. He once again unleashed a cricket-bowl style through, rushing towards Jack with fury and intent before letting loose his strongest attack. He swung his arm in a powerful circular motion, letting the ball slip from his hand and applying a wild spin to it.
It was a Topspinner at maximum force, the effect causing the ball to strike the ground just in front of Jack with incredible force, cracking the ground around it... A split-second came before it bounced back up, and odd delay caused by its construction. When it bounced up, it did so with incredible force. This bolt from below would shoot up right towards Jack's jaw like a shot from hell, bringing with it a slew of debris from the ground it had cracked. The force of the bounce let out a loud sound, not unlike a noise one might hear during a storm...
"THUNDERSTRUCK!"

"...Yeah, we do, don't we? Everyone's got their own struggle, their own problems..."
Jack's eyes narrowed as Travis made his retort, his body tensing a little. His teeth slowly bared, his claws slowly came out of his hands. The air was stiff, the roaring crowds now suddenly silent as they watched this probable last bout of banter end, the fight beginning to reach its climax. The two kids eyed each other warily, Jack mostly continuing to talk to give himself just a brief moment of rest, the pain in his side fading lightly, though it very much lingered.
He couldn't help but smirk slightly at Travis' remark of U.A. kids loving to run their mouths. "You say that like you weren't doing that yourself, Travvy-boy," he replied, plasma slowly beginning to build around Jack like an oncoming storm. The moment Travis exclaimed that all Jack said was a bunch of shit, the dragon boy immediately went into action, flying at Travis like a predator jumping at his prey!
That being said, Travis' speed matched Jack's own, a light dance being played between them as Jack went onto the attack, feinting a right hook, switching into a kick, and then fading into an uppercut, the last bit hitting enough to where Jack could feel the vibrations in his arm. He smirked lightly as he would jump back, letting his opponent breath. For that moment, he looked right up at the stands, where the cameras were, smirking right at them. "Hope you're watching, Red, Meara...everyone. This...is what I've been training for!" he muttered to himself, his confidence returning to him like a storm.
He would look back at Travis, hearing the boy muttering something about a masterpiece. "Oh, this is your ultimate attack, you could say? Best make it count then. Otherwise..." Jack grinned maliciously, his eyes turning bright yellow and sharp, the plasma around him getting faster and faster as he charged up his own attack.
[smear:#4db8ff]"YOU'LL HARDLY BE MUCH OF A DAVID YOURSELF, RIGHT?!?!"[/smear:#fa2a0c:0]
He bellowed, getting ready for whatever Travis had to throw at him. He watched as he pulled out a stranger metal ball compared to the rest of his other ones, and promptly rushed at him the second he did. He threw his ball at a mighty speed, calling the move 'Thunderstruck'. The ball would spin towards the ground, then immediately bounced right back up at Jack, along with several pieces of debris.
However, Jack didn't dare attempt to dodge this attack. Not when his opponent was putting this much heart into it. It would be an offense if the dragon boy didn't meet his attack with as much passion as he was. At the very last split second, Jack would suddenly bring his arm to his face, feeling the metal ball skid into his hardened scales, feeling the slight crack of bones in his arm, the pain being instantaneous. The debris that followed would promptly be blocked by his wings, feeling the light tearing of the fleshy flaps, blood dripping lightly off them.
However, Jack didn't falter...not for a second. His sight went red for a split moment, Jack finally using the arm blocking the ball to fling it away with all of his might, showing the strength that Jack had built up for the last year and a quarter. This was easily the hardest actual fight that Jack had ever had...and he respected Travis for that. Nonetheless, Jack would then fire back his own attack, knowing fully well that, one way or the other...this fight was over.
[smear:#4db8ff]"TWILIGHT...CANNON!!!!!"[/smear:#fa2a0c:0]
Jack bellowed once more, firing a bright white beam with black plasma circling it like lightning bigger than anything he had ever fired before from his mouth, heading right for the Australian boy in front of him. Should it connect, even in the slightest...the damage would most definitely be done. He was sure that at the least it wouldn't kill him...but it was a definite sight to see from all those watching, even from home. Even if he had failed...he had shown his stuff. One way or the other, this was a fight to rival even the most intense of anime.

Thunder cracked, Travis' strongest attack launched upwards at the boy. What seemed like a straightforward technique had hidden nuances, one of which was the sheer speed of the thing. Thanks to his Quirk, Travis could apply something called the 'Magnus effect' to his projectiles, influencing their direction with a spin... Using a Topspinner let him create insanely quick shots, that would bounce hard into the ground!
And Servo's special mechanism meant that once it hit the ground, it would ricochet with even more speed. The results were devastating, and even the maker of this little tool watched from the crowds in awe as a simple metal ball managed to rip into the wing of a dragon. If this wasn't a Goliath-felling pebble, he didn't know what it was.
However, it wouldn't be enough to take down the beast. Of course, he hadn't expected to be, because Travis had tricks up his sleeve until the very end. As Jack knocked the ball away, Travis readied to receive his opponent's counter attack, unsure how he'd deal with it. A powerful beam of plasma was bearing down upon him, Travis reached into his belt and picked up one of the broken halves of his metal spike, driving it into the ground before him. His hands burned as he applied the spin to it, gritting his teeth as it spun up in a harsh motion.
With the resistance it had taken, he couldn't control the spin, twisting his wrist badly once it finally began to spun up and out of the ground... Tearing up the ground and kicking up a last-ditch defense against the plasma cannon!
With chunks of earth as his shield, Travis took the hit, knowing dodging wasn't going to be possible in his current state. The blast was mitigated as it tore apart his rocky defense, but Travis could not bear what was left of it. He was sent flying back by the blast, and as the dust settled, and his consciousness began to fade, the answer would be clear.
He had been knocked out of the arena, giving Jack his win!
And yet, in that moment, the ball Jack had knocked aside would again give off a weaker cracking noise. Its design meant that when it had been knocked into the ground, it had embedded itself again, ready to bounce back up! Although it wouldn't be as accurate, the last shot as it cracked into the air would be Travis' final say.
Even to the end, he had tricks to use.
It was enough to make him just a bit content as the boy sat on the ground panting, his consciousness fading.
"Sorry, Servo... Looks like Linnie won that bet..."
