APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
A tall, pretty and curvaceous young woman who habitually stands out from the crowd for one reason or another, though her dark features certainly help her to fit a more traditional Japanese aesthetic, her mixed race heritage from her French mother seems to help her stand apart from the crowd in more than one way. Tall and voluptuous in her figure, Saya possesses a frame that one might expect from a burlesque performer or old fashioned movie star, with her slim waist leading into broad hips and thighs to give a kind of physique that many might envy or admire. Not wholly opposed to gym work but certainly knowing how to highlight her buxom build, she has a subtle but noticeable tone in her stomach, shoulders and thighs but does not let her body become too ‘beefy’, preferring to exemplify a more shapely frame over something overtly sporty.
Facially looking somewhat refined and delicate, Miss Sumiyoshi has a high set of cheekbones that provides her with a sharp and slightly pointed angle of her jaw, and with the slight narrowness of her gaze gives a mildly ‘fox-like’ look to her visage and adds an air of sophistication and youthful maturity to her looks overall. The irises of the girl a glorious green in colour, they subtly combine with the dark shade and style of her hair to look like gems set in a dark frame, and her eyes are framed with a long set of lashes that can be further emphasized with heavy eyeshadow and mascara. Tending to be perhaps a little reserved and subtle in her makeup choices, Saya prefers to add mystery and glamour to her image and has experience enough to know that less can often be more, usually choosing to highlight features like her cheekbones with understated colour and maybe gloss her lips with a rich, deep tone that compliments her natural skin tone.
Sporting dark, shiny locks that in the wrong light can easily be mistaken for black, in truth Saya‘s hair has a subtle green tone reminiscent of seaweed, which that only grows duskier in dim conditions or when saturated with wetness. Trimmed relatively short in a style that resembles a messy bob cut, while she can style her hair to be neater generally this dark dish likes to keep her hair looking a little bit wind swept which implies a waviness if she let her hair grow out, and tends to leave the ends bangs cut in a ‘blunt tipped’ fashion. Silky and possessing a noticeable sheen that reflects a mane that has received a reasonable level of care and attention, because of its short length most commonly Miss Sumiyoshi will leave it loose to act like frame her pretty face rather perfectly, but it isn’t unheard of for her to tie or otherwise style her hair in a bun or stubby ponytail for the right situation.
The style of clothing that Saya prefers refined, elegant and deceptively showy, the girl favours dark colours and extravagant materials, and usually has her clothing tailored to show off her curves by having her outfits show a noticeable tightness in the bust, waist and hips. Seeming to favour a kind of ‘less is more’ approach to skin coverage, whilst Miss Sumiyoshi is happy to sport a bikini on the beach she often dresses in manners that are a little bit conservative, liking long dresses and skirts and not commonly playing up her ample cleavage. This an effort to create mystique perhaps, while the woman does indeed enjoy attention she prefers to take it on her own terms, and also appreciates her ability to be taken more seriously by choosing not to flaunt her looks for just anyone.
Fond of high heels and deep boots, sometimes Saya will emphasize this by wearing skirts and dresses with splits that run up to her hips, showing off thigh high stockings and footwear that consumes most of her legs in this effort. This also useful for her sense of mobility should she need it, despite the closeness of the gowns she wears around her ‘assets’ she will often choose looser designs in her hems and sleeves, though isn’t wholly adverse to changing her signature style up on occasions that suit her. Fond of jewellery, she will often flaunt pearls or gold necklaces on top of her shirts or sweaters, and also likes rings, bangles and elegant looking ear wear. Also finding she enjoys eyewear, Miss Sumiyoshi will often wear a set of designer sunglasses for a combination of style and anonymity, and might on occasion even sport a pair of non-prescription spectacles when she wishes to look that bit more sophisticated.

Personality:
A somewhat soft-spoken but outgoing and assertive young woman with a definite playful side, Saya Sumiyoshi can be charming and adventurous but also at times mischievous, vain and even at times devious. The type of person who enjoys the company of others and having a good time, Saya is happiest in pleasant and familiar company, and can be quite affectionate when given the chance. A passionate and deceptively loyal girl, Miss Sumiyoshi tends to seek luxury, comfort and excitement, and despite the more deceptive and manipulative aspects of her personality isn’t wholly above feelings of fondness and even love.
That being said the woman never quite losing her sense of vanity or an air of superiority about herself regardless of circumstance, Saya has a rather well developed sense of self image and a strong sense of pride, both in herself and the family she comes from. Raised as the daughter of a mob boss and now the capable little sister of his son, she benefits from a wealth of self-confidence that can make her bold, bossy and demanding, and also combines with her inherent cheek to also make her feel a bit defiant at times. One of the few people in the Kobayashi clan in a position to offer a little bit of backtalk to the boss, she will exploit their family connection to be more rebellious and independently spirited than most members of the clan, but does know her limits and will reluctantly acquiesce when her brother puts his foot down on an issue.
This wilfulness meaning that she generally does like being told ‘no’, Miss Sumiyoshi has developed a fondness for ‘forbidden fruit’ as it were, and being refused what she desires will only seem to intensify her determination. It would be a lie to say that sometimes this desire to defy people and convention is a not a thrill for Saya, who in some ways has felt like an outcast ever since she was little, and subsequently has learned to relish the feeling of overcoming obstacles to prove her supremacy to others and most of all herself.
Used to getting what she wants and skilled in achieving this, Miss Sumiyoshi can show inclinations toward manipulation and deception to achieve her aims, and can be somewhat ruthless in this aspect. Seeing nothing wrong with preying on the emotions or vulnerabilities of people in order to benefit herself, she will lie and act her way to success when the chance presents itself, and seems to prefer surreptitious means over direct acts of violence on the whole. That being said the woman no kind of coward, she simply prefers to deal with situations ‘cleanly’ rather than dirty her hands for the most part, and also her vindictive side also tends to consider a psychological victory much more impactful than a physical one.
That being said, she tends to demonstrate a softer approach to people she might consider family or close friends, and values the people that she likes more than she might let on. Happy to dote on those that she has accepted, while she might be cheeky and teasing of the people she loves, Saya can be known to show a strong sense of warmth, and doesn’t mind looking after people she finds cute. This gentler side something that she doesn’t tend to show all that easily however, because she has been hurt in the past the girl is a little more defensive than her immediate warmth and impulsiveness might imply, and it takes her time to truly learn she can trust and treasure the people around her.
This sensitive side perhaps the source of ‘goodness’ as well, despite her status and inclinations Saya is more caring than she appears, and while she is happy to ‘turn off’ her sympathies toward those who don’t deserve it she is more empathic than she might seem. Senseless violence and needless murder something that she has a distaste for, she retains the impression that a good criminal should uphold a certain standard of practice, and is influenced by certain traditional views to be somewhat charitable as well.
Often the sort of woman who tends to ‘compartmentalize’ her feelings and passions, while she has most assuredly learned the lesson that one catches more flies with honey than with mustard, those lucky few who truly get close to her can see a stark divide between her cool public persona and the warmth and tenderness she conceals beneath it. Presenting the image of someone who is clever, witty and rather flirty as well since she knows how to put her sexuality to good use to charm people, though none of these traits disappear around those she has learned to open up to, she can be noticeably softer and sweeter toward people she truly cares for. Affectionate and giving in these situations, she can be a whole lot more romantic with the right partner, and generally far more tender when it comes to more platonic relationships.
Never a girl who has been lacking for what she desires but influences of certain Yakuza codes of conduct seeming to inspire a sense of pity toward those who have nothing, Miss Sumiyoshi can show a sense of compassion toward those she feels sorry for, provided she has no reason not to, which is perhaps one of the more affable aspects of her personality. However, as a girl who always insists on paying back the ‘debts’ she receives she will tend to quietly hold any act of benevolence over the head of respective party and seek to exploit it if she has the need, making the ultimate consequence of her actions less wholesome than they appear on occasion.
On the whole one of the more diplomatic members of her clan however, especially when compared to the more barbaric attitude of her brother and his inner circle, while she certainly doesn’t mind a spot of conquest and will definitely resort to brutal means if there is a requirement on the whole Saya prefers what she might see as a mutually beneficial arrangement over something else. Happy to look past minor rivalries to find a little profit for all parties concerned, she has a strong interest in fostering civility and cooperation between criminal operations, and respects those who have worked their way to power regardless of who they are.
With that in mind more inclined than many members of her family to build and mend fences with other elements of the unlawful community for common gain or simple mutual prosperity, she feels troubled by the way that Takumi has treated his fellow criminals as enemies as much as any force of so-called justice, and would seek to amend that if given the chance. That being said certainly no fool and not soft at heart either, those who flout her efforts or otherwise disrespect her are likely to see a far less forgiving side to Miss Sumiyoshi, and she can be just as ruthless as any member of her family when she needs to be, exploiting both violence and greater machinations in order to ruin folk who make the mistake of upsetting her, and so in summary is likely the kind of woman you would be much happier having as a friend rather than a foe…

HISTORY
A young woman who was born into the prosperous criminal family known as the Kobayashi clan, Saya Sumiyoshi was the daughter of its leader Katsuo and a young french artist by the name of Luna, while the paintings that the woman created were never the stuff of world class renown it was somewhat popular, and caught the eye of this influential man, but not as much as the artist. There something about the pretty and passionate young woman from France that really did something for the man, he pursued her relentlessly and even persuaded Luna to break up with her fiancé to become his mistress, and ultimately led to the conception of young Saya.
Saya herself only maintaining what she calls ‘fragmented’ memories of her mother due to the young age she was when the woman died, though she recalls the woman being beautiful, refined and vibrant unfortunately the woman seemed to grow sick and die before she was even four years old and consequently is unsure of whether or not what she can recall is real or misplaced mementoes of her dreams. Recollections from such a time seeming vague and somewhat unreliable by the time she reached her adult life, what she recalls of her mother the woman regards fondly and even with a sense of admiration as well. Fond of artwork and paintings especially because some of her most cogent memories seem to involve seeing the woman with brush in hand, she made sure to acquire as many pieces of work by her mother as she could through inheritance and other forms of acquisition, and would consider these to be her most treasured possessions to this day, since they present a link to the figure in her life she has lost.
Certainly the act of losing a parent at such a young age never all that positive, and made no better by the rumours in the underworld that the death of Luna were the result of a jealous rival or other influence, regardless of the real reason behind it the result was little Saya coming to live with the main family, which affected her in several ways. Certainly, the atmosphere of a young Yakuza family a competitive one, even in the youngest years of her childhood Saya would experience feelings of rivalry with her half-siblings, some of which seeming to grow in hostility as she got older, but not all. In her own way learning to keep her true feelings closer to her chest than most because of this, Miss Sumiyoshi learned to keep her true warmth and affection only for those who deserved it, whilst being more callous and dispassionate toward those who did not.
The ambitious and strong-willed Takumi someone that young Saya could quietly hold a strong sense of admiration for, perhaps because they were both quirkers the girl held a strong sense of interest in the young man despite the rather significant age gap between them, and because he was rather handsome as well, she couldn’t help but also harbour a childish crush on his as well. Since the girl had been introduced to her ‘family’ proper in a delayed manner it took time for her to see them in a familial manner, especially when there was significant differences in age, and consequently the woman can now reflect on a ‘silly time’ when she thought she might grow up and marry this striking hunk of a man who had taken control of the clan, and how devastated she was as a little girl when she found out he was already married to someone else. Someone she never really liked. However, now that she has grown out of such silly notions and accepted the man as her brother, she finds this old idea and her behaviour rather amusing really.
This young man perhaps a rare example though, there weren’t all that many friendly faces in her new Yakuza life and ultimately that seemed to toughen Saya up rather a lot in truth, while she was a sensitive child when she arrived at the household the feeling of rivalry for her father’s affections quickly seemed to change the girl, in ways some might not think were for the better. Innocent and yet precocious thanks to the fact that she was younger than most of her siblings, the more deceptive, manipulative and showy aspects of her personality seemed to take root in this time, and as a response toward the need to ‘fight’ for her place at the table.
Offered a natural advantage in this regard due to the fact that she was a quirker, whilst many folk might have rejected a girl who with strange powers like she had, it seemed father and several members of the clan approved of her abilities, and encouraged her to hone it for the sake of the family. This attitude perhaps helped by the potent examples of prowess that Takumi provided the family, she could only admire him more for this fact, and while her own power was perhaps not quite so resounding as the ability to spill and shoot lightning around oneself it did gradually prove useful, even if only initially for the sake of showing off and dancing to win the praise of her father and other prominent people in her life.
As she grew older managing to hone this ‘tool’ and others in her arsenal in order to better benefit the clan, even in her teens the girl would start to put her abilities and expertise to good use for the sake of her family, and her future success. In many ways the ambition and interest that she showed sourced partly from a desire to feel closer to the brother she had idolized as a little girl, after her father had died and passed on the leadership he became the man he wanted to impress, but as she grew older her attitude would change from the adorable affection of a younger sister to something a bit more complicated really. Proving herself rather capable both in a fight and outside it, the girl would become increasingly independent, and while she would always have a sense of respect and reverence for the boss Saya would feel increasingly confined by her position in the clan and fight against it really.
Fortunately it seeming that the new boss would be tolerant of her rebellious efforts due to the results it received, in a world that felt like it was still very much dominated by men the girl would strive to establish her own identity as a woman, showing diplomacy to achieve her aims where she could and more typical yakuza ruthlessness where she could not. Some seeming to feel like the only ‘purpose’ for a daughter of the clan was to be exploited by being married off to form more secure allegiances, Saya refused to obey such dated views and worked hard to earn and maintain the faith of the man in charge, partly in the hopes that he would never ‘dispose’ of her in manner that seemed so far beneath her that it was unreal.
Gradually working her way up in terms of respect and position thanks to her efforts, though Saya didn’t quite have the kind of ambition one might need to try and make a play for leadership, she also did not entirely enjoy the idea of working in the shadow of her big brother forever no matter how much she respected him. Clearly appreciative of a role as a lieutenant in the Kobayashi clan but wishing to spread her wings a little bit further, when she was twenty-three Miss Sumiyoshi would make a bid to grab something that felt a little more her own as she asked her brother to head up the operations of the clan overseas, or more specifically in Hawaii.
Naturally some seeming to feel that such a post was not befitting of either a woman or someone as young as she was, after some negotiation and plenty of manipulative effort on her own part the girl would get what she wanted, and jetted off to the sandy shores of the pacific island because of this posting. Rather enjoying her time there too, and not just because she liked the island scene and opportunity to flaunt her body in a bikini but more because it allowed her to become her own woman all the more, Saya has flourished in this more independent role and provided a better footing for the group in the land in terms of finance and fear of the locals. Her own personal triumph the victory over a dogged detective by the name of Dave McCallum who seemed to have hounded their operation since day one, now that she has gotten rid of his pesky team the island is hers, and she feels that she can look forward to enduring peace and prosperity thanks to her actions. Unfortunately, she wasn’t allowed to enjoy her success and her island paradise for long, as it seemed her expertise was needed back at home with rising the rising threats of Hero business and potent rivals to the Kobayashi name…
Gradually working her way up in terms of respect and position thanks to her efforts, though Saya didn’t quite have the kind of ambition one might need to try and make a play for leadership, she also did not entirely enjoy the idea of working in the shadow of her big brother forever no matter how much she respected him.
