Walking about the valiant institute during her free time before the ‘real show’ began, Yumi was enjoying her free time looking how the other schools lived. They seemed a little more strict with the whole ‘house structure’ but given how unique UA was she couldn’t say it was too unusual. Afterall she’d been to more typical Japanese schools before UA so sights like this weren’t all that unusual. Even then, they could all just be putting on a good impression and trying to look all high and mighty with their standards.
Not that she minded, she kinda liked the sense that UA gave them a bit more of a ‘lax lifestyle’. Especially if the UA kids still ended up kicking their ass…~
She was just holding one of the pamphlets she’d been given by a member of staff who’d greeted them, looking around to get her barings while the school was busy with it’s own festival when a chiming voice caught her ears, whirling about on the spot to see a similar red head to herself running over, unable to avoid the merciless tackle hug that had Yumi’s face squeezed down into their shoulder.
“Yooooomeeeee!~”
“MOM!?” Bursting out in alarm at first but quickly smiling as she hugged her mother back, the two squeezed eachother tightly for a moment before giving eachother some room to breathe, Yumi looking to the almost equally young face of her mother and spotting the more slightly mature features of her father as he more leasurely came up behind her mother, beaming brightly at the both of them who’d somehow found their way onto valiant campus…ALL THE WAY FROM JAPAN!?
“W-what are you guys-?”
Her mother quickly interrupted her with a light prod of her nose. “Oh please you really think we’d stay back in Japan while our little sunshine was spending all her time down here showing off in my home country?~” She had a sly wink and a light stick out of her tongue as she said this, and Yumi’s father himself let out a long sigh through his nose with his hands resting in his pockets and a lazy smile on his face.
“That and it was a good excuse for a holiday. We thought we’d surprise you by showing up in the audience or something but the moment we spotted you… well..-“
Her mother interrupted again with a brief jump for glee and clasping her hands together. “I couldn’t resist!~”
Yumi was a little stunned to say the least, standing here with her parents infront of her at the festival with her jaw hanging open a little. The three of them, being in her mother’s home, had been instinctively speaking in English the whole time so any passerbys may not innately understand the relationship the three of them shared, bt even a little stunned it was more than clear Yumi was incredibly happy to see them. “S-so you guys are staying for the whole festival?”
“And a few days more.” Her father instinctively answered. “We booked a hotel. Once the festival’s over we’re gonna enjoy a few trips visiting your mother’s side of the family.”
“Ugh.” Her mother let out, tilting to the side dramatically. “Don’t remind me…”
Yumi smirked, chuckling a little behind her hand. She didn't really know what else to say to the two of them but... she was just happy to see them. An extra vacation for them or not... it was great to see them here, bringing a bright smile to her face.

"Man.....this place really does bring back some bloody memories of primary school." Red'd joke to himself walking around the Valiant grounds. Of course, he didnt mean to compare the place to an actual primary school, but the house set up they had was incredibly British in design. He was pretty sure almost every school in the country had adopted the system at one point, thanks to the popularity of a certain magic high school book series. His old primary school back before he had to leave the country due to his parents getting jobs and.....not other reason at all, really, which was based on towns around the country.
Think it was Litchfield, Canterbury, Chester and York, with the colours being the same as in the series in question, if he remembered right, that is. Split up lunch tables, sports day events, the whole shebang. It also caused playground factions and territorialism which....didnt end well but he couldnt put his finger on why exactly.
Anyway, as nostalgic as everything was, he couldnt say that he'd wanna be stuck in it again, cause to him it all looked like it was traditionalst bullshit to make the school look better than it actually was on the inside. It was why every school tried it, to try and get parents to enroll their kids into something akin to private education.
It was either that or be a catholic/church of england school, cause public schools got a bad reputation....for pretty good reason to be honest, since thats where all the fucks ups ended up. The image was fake though, they were all just public schools with better coats of paint, with all the same problems.
UA was kinda different than that. Sure, it was effectively just a regular high school but with teacher sanctioned fights, but it was a lot chiller than most other schools he'd been too, for pretty good reason. He'd joked about transfering here if UA lost the fest but if that actually happened they'd have to take him over his dead body. What was he gonna do about his family? They were d---away on work business and usually uncontactable, how was he gonna be able to tell em where he was? Or his bloody sister for that matter, since she was in the hos---University, would she have to come with him? He couldnt just drag her along cause he had to switch schools, right?
Either way, walking around the grounds did have its upsides. He got to get the general idea of where everything was without having to follow a map, trick everyone into thinking he was just another tourist and not a UA student, and just enjoy the festival with.....himself. Everyone else had gone off exploring on their own or with friends, so he was just left to his own devices.
Probably a bad idea, considering he was known for spontaniously exploding most days....But luckily he hadnt unpacked his tools yet. Still, it woulda been nice to walk around here with someone.....like his family, if they werent d---not around, or maybe Yum----Wait a sec, isnt she right there?
He'd quickly double take, realising that Yumi was, in fact, right in front of him. Looked like she was doing something similar to him, considering that pamphlet she was holding. Maybe they could both look around together of something. "Hey, Yumi!" He'd attempt to call out, in english...but it was drowned out by someone elses rather loud, chiming voice.
Stopping in his tracks, with his arm still in the air as Yumi was tackle hugged by a very similar looking red head, a terrifying thought crossed his mind. .....does.....does Yumi have a sister?.....Please tell me theres not two of her. Please god i can only handle one of her.
Blinking a little as he pretty much stared at the two, looking back and forth between them.....he could barely tell the fucking difference between the two, atleast from this distance. Which is why his first assumption was not that the lady was her mother. This was quickly allievated by the presence of the man Red could only assume was her father, judging from how old he looked. This sent an even more terrifying thought through his brain, as he started to sweat just a little bit.
Oh shit, he's probably gonna think that im after his daughter or something and end my life, right?.....oh god what if he finds out i live with her?.....i should run for it. He'd quickly realise. There was just one slight problem. The only exit he was aware of was the school gate and....well...he'd have to get past them to get to that, if he remembered the layout right. So...trying his best to not look conspicous, and hoping to GOD that Yumi and her family were too busy to notice him, Red would try to very casually walk past them so he didnt have to meet Yumis parents.
He just had to hope that his wind aura and the fact he was rubbing his neck awkwardly while trying not to look directly at them didnt give his dumbass away.

"THE HELL IS THIS!"
Feng would say to herself as she looked at Valiant Academy with eyes of awe and shock. She thought it would look a bit more elegant than UA but that was an understatement. As she would look at the place and slowly start to think it was influenced by something. She can't put her finger on it but she remembers her little sister's brief phase where she was obsessed with the series. Chuckling a bit at the memory, she would attempt to figure out a path to see how to explore the school and what to do but it was all overwhelming and she had no one to walk with so she was just baffled on where to even go. "Magic? Sorcerers Stone? Half-Blood? Hmmm" she would wonder.
Ain't a bad place by any means but then again, she doesn’t know a damn thing about the place so what can she actually say as she was an outsider. A part of her wonders if her uncle is still working in this area or that he already went back to Japan to Auntie Mei. Either way she needed a guide and or a group to walk around with to see what the whole deal was about. But with the usual options already being out and about, she would walk and explore to her leisure using one of the pamphlets given to her by a member of staff.
The place's architecture was quite magnificent in its own way. Rather grand and elegant that would show the -prestige of an academy. Though once they get their asses handed to them by UA, looks won't even matter when one school is running circles around them. A few passing stares from on goers as she would realize she would stand out like a sore thumb so she would walk at a brisk pace. She will have to find Slinkee another time as she wouldn't even know where to look for her.
However distant voices started to ring and catch her attention and this she wandered on to a familiar sight. In the distance she would see Yumi and couple. She got closer and saw that it was another red haired woman and rather cool looking man. “Are they Yumi’s parents or friends in the country?” she would ask in her mind as she would get closer . Nervous feeling set in on her end as she wonders if she will get to see her in sparring. She did promise but with the festival and whatnot, she didn't want to force it more than she should. They were friends but she didn't want to get too close to touchy as she is already dealing with a bunch of stuff. 'Just go up and say hi, nothing wrong with that Feng?', she would say to herself as she would take a deep breath.
She would awkwardly walk towards the group and greet with a nervous wave as she didnt know how to greet them. She would get closer and not notice Red in the slightest who looked like he was being hunted down. But she did not pay him no mind as he was dealing with something she was not aware of.

Yumi definitely felt good seeing her parents here to support her in person but something was just… niggling away at the back of her mind. She really couldn’t help but feel like, underneath her own mother calling out to her, someone else had too. She started to shift her vision around and quickly saw Feng, smiling brightly at her and parting her lips to try and start some introductions but… that didn’t feel right. As dumb as it might be to question herself she was almost sure it wasn’t Feng’s voice she heard so…
Oh. There’s the trashcan.
Holding a finger up to Feng as she waved so nervously, and then holding the same finger up to her parents but with a much sweeter smile, the two of whom looked a little confused as Yumi suddenly, borderline ‘stormed’ off as she went after the fleeing blond. With his nervous rubbing of his neck and his need to quietly escape he likely wouldn’t realize Yumi was coming up behind him till she hooked a hand into the back of the hood on his Jacket and started dragging him towards the group. “Come on Trashcan you’re not avoiding me that easily.”
Rounding behind Red and pushing him in the right direction once he started to use his own two feet, Yumi made sure he was close enough to be considered ‘part of the group’. Really she wasn’t ENTIRELY sure why she was dragging him here but the way he’d tried to duck out once he’d realized Yumi was already with some people here made her wanna make sure he didn’t have such an easy out. Taking a deep breath, almost comically ‘cleansing’ her briefly irittated moment, she smiled a little more sweetly again and looked to her parents.
“Guys, these are my best friends at school. I told you about Red a lot, he’s the guy who’s helping me pay keep on that place near the school.” She gestured to Red, of course while saying this.
“Oh so you’re that sweet boy who Yumi’s got helping her!~” Her mother, clearly where Yumi got her ‘rounder eyes’ from, had no hints of a Japanese heritage herself. From her general figure seeming like it would put most more petite Japanese wives to shame, to her wider eyes and her generally more vibrant expressions. Her figure wasn’t even all that modest in it’s display either, wearing some jeans, a shirt that almost seemed to drape off her chest, emphasizing it’s size and also how slim her waist was in comparison, and a rather stylish leather jacket to match the rest. Honestly she easily passed for Yumi’s sister. “Look out for her okay? I know she’s already got you paying rent but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t need a little looking after too..~” She gave a playful wink and with a smile Yumi’s father over her mother’s shoulder rolled his eyes a little playfully himself as his hands sunk deeper into his pockets.
“And this is Feng. She’s one of the toughest students I know. She’s actually part of that internship case Yellow Jacket is letting us help on.”
“Ah yes I remember that.” The more mature looking man of the group spoke up, rubbing at the stubble on his chin and cheeks. “I think there was actually word of it in the papers. I hope you two know what you’re getting into trying to aid a case that big?” He raised a brow, curious to their answer in general but Yumi held a mildly confident smile. Not overly so but… in safe range at least. Her father was wearing a coat buttoned across his chest made of some firmer fabrics and some roomy but clearly warm looking pants himself. Honestly him dressed a little more mature made Yumi’s mother almost seem younger by comparison. The two even seemed to dress almost on opposite ends of the fashion spectrum. One young and spriteful the other looking like he was about to grab a newspaper on his way to an office job.
“And Red, Feng, this is my-“ She gestured to her mother.
“Sister.~” She chimed in. Yumi tipped her head back with a defeated sense of frustration, her gesturing hand still hanging in the air as she sighed through her nose before continuing.
“This woman with the outdated sense of humor is my mother, and of course I’m sure you get that makes the guy dressed for a day at the office my dad.”
Her dad didn’t say much, just raising a hand from his pocket and casually waving with it as Yumi introduced him. The two really didn’t look like a fitting couple. It wasn’t even like when you see a young woman with a rich old man waiting for him to die and leave her his company. They weren’t distinct enough to have something else going on about them. They just… didn’t match, but at the same time the odd sense of comfort they held in standing side by side made it clear they were indeed Yumi’s coupled parents.

As Red was trying his best to stealth his way around Yumis group and seeing the gate as a beacon of hope, he'd start to realise that he may in fact have been completely overreacting here. It was just Yumis parents right? Why was he so scared at the mere prospect of actually meeting them? Its not like he had anything to worry about, right? All he'd done is be Yumis friend through a bunch of stuff, which her parents would probably appreciate or something, right? So, why was he fuckin terrified of the mere concept of them knowing who he was? Seriously, why? What in gods name do I actually have to worry about beyond her dad being a little stern with me? I can just clear that up and a second and be fine so....whats the actual probl---wait why is the gate getting further away?
It would seem that, during his pondering on what exactly was wrong, he had failed to notice that he'd gotten spotted being an awkward fuck and running for it....which shouldnt be surprising considering he was wearing the damn coat she made him, it made him stick out like a sore thumb. So, instead of silently leaving the area, Red was now being dragged by the scruff of his neck pretty much by a slightly irritated Yumi. The light at the end of the tunnel that was the school gate was now escaping his grasp but...he couldnt just let Yumi drag him to his demise by the hands of her dad now, could he?
"Oh come on, i just didnt wanna int---i mean i wanted to go unpack!" Red would blatently lie, doing his best to try and break free from Yumis grasp...but unfortunatly, due to the fact that she was holding him by the hood, he may have choked himself a little bit, realised the futility of his efforts, and just let her drag him...or push him towards her parents, she'd spun him around at some point. "Eh......it was worth a shot atleast, Gremlin." He'd sigh out, resigning himself to his fate and waving a little at her parents, with a very awkward smile and laugh. Seriously though, why does she keep choking me when stuff like this happens? He'd jokingly ask his brain.
Ok, ok....this may seem bad right now....but everything'll be finnnneeee. She'll just introduce you, you can try making some small talk and then you can leave. Dont need to mention that you live with her or anything, it'll be fi-------wait what did she just say? Red would think, as his head slowly tilted in Yumis direction as she introduced him as the guy who helps her pay rent, with a very "Oh god, why did you say that" look on his face. Her mother didnt help matters.
"Y-Yeah, uhhh...Yumi mentioned she only had rent for a few months if she cut back on stuff so....i figured i wasnt usin my money so...uhh...yeah...." He'd awkwardly admit, scratching his face a little in the process to try and help calm his nerves. He could really see where Yumi got her eyes and general.....Yumi-ness from. Hell, if her dad wasnt also here he would probably wouldnt have realised that she was in fact her mum from how she looked.
"...Eh? I already cook for her what do you mean she needs lookin after?" Red would ask, tilting his head to the side like a lost puppy. God bless this mans skull, if it wasnt as dense as a literal black hole then he might have had a panic attack or something. Defintely would have blushed real hard atleast. "....by the way Yumi....what else have you told your parents about me? Since you apparently talk about me a lot." He'd sarcastically tease, puttin his hands behind his head and smiling like a real cheeky cunt.
It was at this point that Red would realise that Feng was also here, since Yumi was also introducing her. He'd blink a couple times in surprise and then just rub the back of his head. "Sorry Feng....did she drag you over here too or somethin?" He'd whisper to her behind his hand while she was being introduced. He felt kinda bad that she was stuck here with him but.....also happy he was here so that he wasnt the only one having to potentually get interrogated or something.
Speaking of interrogations, Yumis dad looked like he was prepped for one. To everyone else, he probably looked like a regular salary man or something, but to Red? He looked like he was about to put the lamp directly in his face and start questioning what his intentions with his daughter were. Hell, the guy practically had the fires of hell behind him, somehow. Still, it wanst like Red actually had anything to worry about right? After all, it wasnt like he had any intentions or anything like that, right? Definetly didnt bury anything like that, no sir.
".....Yeah, i can really see the resemblence, Yumi." He'd reply to her introductions, trying his best to hold in his laughter at her reaction to her own mother and....maybe blushing JUST a little at the same time. Kinda reminded him of his own...except for the part where she wasnt de---away on a work trip indefinitely. Man...whys my head hurt when i think about that? He'd ask himself in his brain, rubbing his forehead a bit. Ah, just dont fuckin think about it, it'll be fine. That weird voice in the back of his head would tell him.
He'd just lift an arm to wave back to her back, not realising that this entire time he'd been copying the guy by having his own hands in his pockets. "So uhh.....are you guys just here for the festival or is this just a happy coincidence with where you're staying? Hotel close by or somethin?" Red'd ask....only just now realising, that this entire conversation had been in english, and that his accent might have been coming through a BIT more than usual.

It was at that point where she would hear Red’s question as he was also preoccupied with his own deal. Mostly involving the matters of his living situation and...moving on. His presence would make her relax a bit more since she wasnt alone on this. “Eh kinda….sorta passing by and heard some commotion and bam here I am…”, she would answer whilst hiding a slight pout. It last all for a few seconds before focusing on the topics being presented to her.
Feng’s anxiousness would come out in full force as she would nervously wave as Yumi would introduce her. Her mind would go awry as she would struggle to find the words to even utter to her parents. Meeting a friend's parents was something Feng had never done before and even more so when it's the parents of someone she respects a lot. To be complimented and introduced like this is...a bit flattering to say the least. But she would not show it as she would take in stride and politely bow.
“Nice to meet you, my name is Feng Yao. Heroine name of Typhoon Dragoon, I am honored to finally meet the parents of a good friend”,she would say as calmly as possible.
She would do her best to contain her giddiness in her voice as she would listen to the rather well dressed man speak. He seemed to be in the loop about what was going on with the case involving the twins from the Yellow Jacket Internship. But she would pay it no mind as she would give an affirming smile to make sure that there is nothing to worry about. “Don’t worry! We are aware of what we are getting into.”, she would salute with a mild grin on her face.Another part of Feng's mind is cursing her for not dressing better for the occasion. It wasn't necessary, but she has to make a good impression count and even meeting a friend's parents is no exception.
He was quite handsome to be perfectly honest. A mature aura would radiate from him due to his choice of fashion. His sense of fashion would echo her uncle in Japan from what she remembers of him as he would dress in the same sort of attire. Rather plain but it has its charms depending on the person wearing it Thoughts would float around about how he looked when he was younger but she would soon snap out of it. More pressing matters would be tended to as to the appearance of the Yumi’s mother who looked younger than she thought. If Yumi didn't introduce her as such, she would have assumed college student at most.
Red would soon comment on Yumi's mother's appearance and she would follow up with, “Looks like I know where you get your looks from now…”. Remarking as she her eyes examined her closely and making sure she wasn’t seeing things. Seems like she was blessed in terms of looks as she doesnt look any older than the group.
“Yeah! Are you two here to see the festival or is it like all business related?”, she would ask in her own way as Red did. Her normal english started to show hints of the west coast origins as she would start using ‘like’ alot.

“Yeeeeah course you did. Come on I heard you call my name before they showed up. You’ve only got yourself to blame here.” Making sure he was planted firmly in the group before introductions had been made, she’d let the two of her friends just get in their first impressions of Yumi’s parents since they were likely to see a fair bit more of them over the course of the festival while they were in the are and were bound to be getting as much time seeing their daughter do her hero stuff as they could.
With Red mentioning he cooked for her already, Yumi’s mother just smiled wide and shot her daughter a narrow gaze, the kind that seemed to hint at the two having some sort of in joke or another that lead to Yumi turning her eyes the other way and gently elbowing her mother with a pout. Her mother meanwhile let out a chipper giggle and shook her head before making it clear- “That’s exactly what I mean dear. My poor little spark can get soooo focused on her hobbies she forgets to eat.” She leaned over and pinched at Yumi’s cheek till the younger girl pulled away, whining and batting her mother’s arm away gently.
As Red asked what else she’d been telling her parents she folded her arms a little defensively. “I mean I don’t talk about you THAT much I-“
“She does.” Her father surprisingly was the one to chime in this time, very straight faced in his decleration of this and shooting his own more reserved but still sly smirk Yumi’s way. She pulled in her lips with some annoyance and tried again.
“O-okay maybe I do a LITTLE but you have really been helping me a lot lately. Helping me get over the Darren and Kirk thing, helping me with my gadgets and training and helping me with the new place… hard to find a part of my life I can mention without mentioning you too these days is all.” She rested her hands down on her hips and nodded firmly, proud of her answer and the bullets it dodged. Her father just narrowed his eyes and turned up his bottom lip, giving a sloooow shake of the head as if to silently say ‘yeeeeah not buying that one kiddo’.
As the the introductions were made…and both Feng and Red caused her mother to blush and giggle a little bashfully as she waved off the compliment of where she got her looks from, and also Yumi herself rubbing the back of her neck with a blush as the comment was equally aimed at her in some respect too, she the two parents took their chance to introduce themselves a bit more formally, starting with Yumi’s mother.
“Well you kids can call me Sonya, and we were just thinking its been a while since I was home, so we combined the two a bit. We really wanted to be here and surprise our daughter with some in person support, but in the end we’re gonna stay a few more days than that to get some actual vacation time in.” She chimed.
“Don’t forget visiting the relatives.~” Her Father timed in, Sonya groaning as she tilted to the side a little, her arms hanging a little comically, it was almost like most of her expressions were learned through watching the sitcom comedy of slice of life animes.
“Don’t remind me…”
He smiled gently and rested a hand on his own chest as he introduced himself, a little more formal but with an odd sense of laxness even to that. “Takoda kids. Please to meet you.”

"I see.....atleast we aint dealin with this on our own, right? i dont think i'd be able to handle two of her on my own so...uhhh...thanks for being here." Red'd reply back, with a cheeky grin and wink in Fengs direction. It was meant to be more reassuring than anything else, but he was a dense fucker, so he wouldnt know how Feng might have intepreted that. Seemed she was just as nervous as he was or something, judging by the wave she gave when she got introduced....and then actually introduced herself more properly. Red now realised, that he had in fact, not down that at all. Ok so Fengs definetly better at this than me.....should i follow her example or...uhhhh.........fuck. He'd start to worry in his mind but....odds are he was fine...probably.
As he asked about what else he needed to do to "Look after" Yumi, he was a bit puzzled by her reaction. He just tilted his head to the side like a puppy, cause as dense as he was, he could still tell when he was missing something. "I...seeee.......i thought i was the only one who did that, Yumi......im missing something here arent i?" He'd tease her along with her mother, narrowing his eyes for a second while stifling a little chuckle as he watched Yumi pout and get her cheeks pinched......Kinda reminded him of his Mum and sister a bit......
Man, there went his head, gettin real sharp pain for a second. Weird, he must have been tired or jet lagged or something. He'd have to figure it out later. Dude, just dont think about it, i told you this already. The voice told him. It had been a long day after all, he was probably just more sleep deprived than usual or something.....wouldnt know why that'd be a thing.
His eyebrow would raise as Yumi tried to deny how much she talked about him....and then her Dad pretty much batted that attempt into the moon with how he was smirking afterwards. Yumi then went on to describe......basically everything they'd done together as of late, apparently. "Thats....a lot more than i thought uhhh..You...basically told em everything eh?.....you mention the part where you nearly electrocuted me to death?" Red'd ask her, mostly in jest with a similar look on his face to her dad...but with a little less sarcasm.
He'd watch both Yumi and her mum blush a little at both his and Fengs compliments, kind of mirroring Yumis reaction but with a bit more "Oh god oh fuck" energy thanks to the presence of her dad. He may have seemed a lot chiller than Red had expected, but for some reason he still felt like one wrong move would end in his immediate shooting and/or stabbing to death. No idea why he'd feel like that, really.
Still, from what he could tell form both of em? They were really nice people. Yumi definetly took after her mother in both personality and looks, and her Dad, despite Reds mental image of him, seemed pretty chill. They both liked to tease their daughter atleast, which was a thing Red shared in common with em it seemed. He took whatever oppourtunity he could get after all, since she'd been doing the same to him for almost a.....Holy shit its been almost been a year....what the fuck happened to time? Red'd realise in the back of his mind.
While he realised that, Yumis parents started to properly introduce themselves, which snapped him out of his train of thought pretty quick. His mothers name was Sonya, and now that he had that, he'd finally remember something Yumi told him a while back. Her mum was also english. How he hadnt realised that until now was a mystery, but we'll have to chalk it up to nerves for now. "Oh, really? Thats great, aint it Yumi?" He'd ask her....starting to form a bit of an idea in his head.
Her dad introduced himself after that, slightly more formally but still pretty chill to be honest. Once again, Red would realise that he hadnt actually introduced himself since this conversation started, just going with the flow of everything to try and cope.....so now he kinda had to do that otherwise he'd be seen as rude, right?.....Oh god how do you introduce yourself to your friends parents? He'd start to ask himself.
"Y-yeah, nice to meet you uhhh...sir? Sorry im uhh...not good at this kinda stuff. My names Red, i just uhh....annoy the hell out of your daughter usually by helping out and stuff....i think..." He'd awkwardly introduce himself, scratching at his face a little and trying his best to not nervously smile and laugh....which may have failed just a little bit.

Yumi's mother flustering a bit did help with her impressions of what kind of household her friend grew up in. Rather supportive and envious of the kind of environment she grew up in compared to her own crowded household. Seems like she also gets alot of her personality from her as well considering how similar their reactions are. Her father is rather lax in terms of his attitude towards the entire situation which is a relief as she felt Red calm down the moment he gave his response.
Though Feng would soon fidget around as Red was more acquainted with Yumi than her. 'Oh god what else do I say....Red has more stuff to talk about, this feels real awkward.' she would think. She didn't intend to run into her and she can’t exactly ask her for that sparring match she asked for a few weeks back. She doesn't have any interesting hobbies, family drama is a bit heavy for this, and she is more or less just standing there as she would listen and wonder where to go sightseeing. This is more or less the last thing she was expecting to do today but now she is here.
In hindsight, she never pictured herself doing this a year ago but a lot of things have changed and quickly. Most of her time was dedicated to training and learning that she never stopped to relax or try and explore a bit. The downsides of being a battle focused manic she would think. But here she is now, doing both with two friends of hers and she had nothing to add on at the moment.Feels a bit awkward to say the least but that's mostly on her end. As they were talking about their home life and she would check the pamphlet and wonder where to go in terms of places to visit. 'Keep your cool Fei, its just normal conversation. Just keep your ears open and just find the right opportunity to chime in', she would tell to herself in her mind.
Both her parents would introduce themselves as Sonya and Takoda as the conversation went on. Learning that they are gonna be here to support their daughter at the festival is heartwarming. Considering how strong their daughter is, it's going to be a joyous moment for them for sure. Though Feng would chuckle a bit at Sonya’s response to visiting relatives as she wholly empathizes with the feeling. The conversation would go on as normal as Red would awkwardly introduce himself to Yumi’s father.
“I think that's an understatement if I ever heard one, didn't you make a few gadgets for her back home for her to use?”. She would tack on as she remembered Yumi mentioning it during their jog back home. There was no mischievous intent behind it as she would say it as she recalled it.

Red couldn’t seem to gather what the odd look that was being shared between Yumi and her mother was and quite frankly Yumi was just all the more thankful for it, letting out a soft sigh through her nose and glaring off to the other side with a pout and a light blush with her arms crossed tight over her chest. Sonya in the meantime was giggling her cute little ass off, knowing some of the more secretive things her daughter had told them about Red, but she’d let her figure this all out in her own time. It wasn’t her job to kick the hornet’s nest that was these two dumb kid’s budding relationship…. Just poke it a little with a stick to keep it buzzing.~
“Nope. Not missing anything just er… parents being parents…” Yumi mumbled out with a light roll of her eyes, Sonya giggling a little more as her tone picked up and showing a bright grin as she did so, definitely enjoying messing with her daughter and who she was ABSOLUTELY sure was going to be her future boyfriend.
“Yup. Nothing you need to worry about. Just silly little daughters being silly little daughters.~”
As Red pointed out just how much she’d been talking about him even more her blush only grew worse and she turned her eyes to the sky with another light growl of frustration, a vein almost comically bulging out of her forehead. (not really, but it’s a nice cartoony image to show just how much this was getting under her skin by this point). “Like. I. Said. You’ve pretty much just been involved with everything important… it’s hard to talk about any aspect of my life without you coming up is all…”
Trying to save herself from a jab by one of her parents she looked to Feng as her saving grace. “B-besides I talk about Feng too… how we started jogging a bit together when I was figuring out my route from the new house to school and…” She let out a breath. “Ya know the whole… internship case and all that.”
Sonya managed to find something else to latch onto with that and in turn Yumi felt a sensation of relief as she was allowed to take a break on the matter. “Oh yes. She told us all about that. What a heartbreaking little case that must be to deal with…” Sonya stepped over, gently squeezing the side of Feng’s arms. While she seemed youthful and chipper, LOOKING only a few years older than Yumi at best, as she looked into Feng’s eyes there was a sense of maturity in her eyes and the tone she took, just showing a genuine sense of motherly care even for this young girl she’d just met. “Are you holding up okay with it all? I imagine a case like that must be taking it’s tole on you sweet things. Emotionally I mean…”
Takoda shook his head and smiled, stepping over and squeezing his wife’s shoulder as a sign to ease off, which Sonya did, stepping back as she shared a soft smile with her partner. “I’m sure they have the training to handle it, and the school has a great counsellor if they don’t.” He stated warmly. That side of Yumi that tended to have a more… logical, if optimistic outlook at times where practicality was needed clearly seemed to stem from her father in some respect.
As Red introduced himself, Takoda smirked a little wider but it still seemed suppressed compared to his wife and his daughter, always holding some lax air about him, like his smirk was as wide as it could be for someone as relaxed as himself. “So we’ve been told…~” That earned him a light jab of Yumi’s elbow, which in turn lead to him giving out a lazy chuckle as it seemed to catch him just under the ribs. “Hey I’m getting on in years ya know.” He’d hook an arm about Yumi’s shoulder, just using her as a ‘rest’ as he leaned some of his weight into her daughter, idly letting out. “Can ya believe she used to have to stand on a chair to give me kisses? We had to buy a collapseable one cause she kept dragging them out of the kitchen. Couldn’t STAND not being able to show her mom and dad how much she looooooved them~”
Yumi somehow wasn’t as embarrassed about this stuff as the Red stuff but.. damn she was still blushing all the same.
As Feng added that Red even made Yumi some gadgets, Sonya waved it off, not dismissively but- “Oh we know about those well enough. I mean she’s wearing one now.~” Yumi’s mother pointed to the hint of a metal string about her neck. The actual ‘amulet’ of her necklace, her hero symbole of a curving lightning bolt, was nestled inside her shirt, but Red and by now heck Feng would recognize she was wearing at least her necklace, though she hadn’t felt the need to wear her bracelets today. Yumi’s cheeks just got all the redder.

"Yeaaahhh.....Surrreeee..... Nothin to worry abouuttt....." Red would sarcastically say, dropping the issue a little. It was obvious he was missing something here, He'd seen that kind of look before. It was the same look you gave your best friend when you want to tell em something but who its about is present, or making a joke at their expense or something......He was used to getting the look from his mum or sister when him and dad were bullshitting about tech at christmas or his birthday.....or giving it to his sister whenever she broke something in the house that she needed him to fix....though that was more of a "told you so" loo--- Goddammit, what did i tell you about thinking about this shit, man? The voice in his head would berate him, as he shook his head and rubbed it a little. He really needed some sleep or something....Jesus.
"A-Ah....i uhh...seee.....you...ummm....you know if you want me to fuck off and...uhhh...l-leave you alone for a bit y-you just need to ask me, right?" Red'd reply, starting to feel just a little guilty that he was taking up so much time in Yumis life......though the idea of her wanting him to fuck off out of it for a bit kinda stung him in his chest for some reason, but he couldnt put his finger on it. Hell, it made Red realise that most of his life kinda revolved around her at this point.......Man.....is this what all friendships are like or am i just being a asshole hanging around her cause ive never had any? He'd ask himself.....Luckily, though, he wouldnt get to dwell on those thoughts for long.
"Y-yeah, dont you two jog around for uhh....like half an hour or an hour before school or something?" Red would quickly jump onto Yumis lifeboat of a conversation swich, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly again and giving Feng the "Oh god please help me out here i dont know what to bloody do" look. He'd heard a little bit about it before but right now he was just saying words that would either need a confirmation or a correction in order to make sure the topic changed which.....luckily, thanks to Yumi mentioning her internship case, her mum grabbed the bait hook, line, and sinker.
"Oh yeah, how is that goin anyway? I know you told me a little bit about it but not all the details.....you need help with that or would i just be annoying the fuck outta you two again?" Red'd ask, realising that, up to this point, Feng uhh...hadnt really said much. Probably because she was pretty nervous too or something, but Red would be her life preserver in this conversation if he had too....even if he was really bad at conversations with people who didnt already know him....though it looked like Sonya was givin her a lot of attention right now with the arm squeeze. "Yeah uhh...how are you anyway Feng? Finding the trip alright?" Red'd ask, still trying to do that....probably wasnt going that well.
"Y-yeah uhh...probably should have...thought about that for a second....." Red'd realise, as Yumis dad told him that he already knew what his name was. Well bloody done mate, all you had to do was introduce yourself and you've fucked that up.....god you are useless, even HE thinks you are. Reds mind would tell him, during the brief five seconds that Yumis dads smirk, instead of being the chill smirk it was, looked like he was holding back a bit of annoyance or anger that Red was talking to his daughter......luckily that cleared up pretty quick once he started talking again....Really had no idea where Red was gettin that idea about the guy from.
".....You know....somehow, i can believe that....pretty easily, i can picture it now." Red'd tease, sarcastically lifting an eyebrow at Yumi and smirking like a cheeky prick. He may have felt guilty about teasing her about how much she talked about him/he was around her, but this was an entirely new topic and he still wanted a bit of revenge for the past year. ....Plus he though Yumi was adorable when she blushed, so if he could her to do it more, then it was a win win in his bloody book.
Of course, he wasnt gonna get with it scot free right now, not with Yumis mum present, it looked like. "W-Well you see uhh...that was just.....a f-failed prototype!....that uhh....kinda....melted in a....nice way so....uhhh.....it uhh...doesnt really count?.......atleast it didnt at the time...But uhh....yeah i...guess i...did make her a...couple things....maybe...." Red'd stutter out, eyes darting around as he looked away and blushed a little, starting to almost mutter the last part out.....
Still though, knowing Yumi wore the thing, especially after he'd stuck the "upgrade" into it.....made his chest kinda burst just a little bit.....still didnt know why though, he must have finally been bloody dying or something.

Feng was a bit out of it as the conversation went on, looking at their surroundings and thinking.. Feeling a bit defeated in a sense for not having much to contribute but it was soon turned as Sonya took hold of her arm. She was confused for a moment but heard a bit of what Yumi said before responding properly. “Well aside from some problems I had to deal with before and during it...I’m doing well. Your daughter did help me through it..-W-which I’m grateful for!-!" She’d reply nervously as she took a more concerned tone. Doing her best to not crack and recall the mess she was during that entire visit.
Then came Red’s and Sonyas remark about jogging with Yumi. Which she responded immediately, “I do it to maintain stamina and want to help her! It helps to a degree but I need to learn how to slow down for Yumi...but she’s getting better at maintaining pace.”, proudly saying it as she puffed up her chest. She did notice the look Red was giving her which confused her a bit but she played along as she did her best to try and keep the ball rolling.”B-Besides, I do it because I want to help her at least!-! She is a good friend after all and uh” she fumbled as she tried to find a subject to move onto but her brain wasn’t exactly keeping up. And her other responses can’t be good either since she has mostly met Yumi in the midst of danger. The biology lesson, the internship, and so on. Not exactly the best way to say you’re friends with your daughter like mentioning life threatening situations. However Red’s question came in with the save as she wanted to air out a bit of issues with the flight.
“The trip...was alright I suppose...customs had a hard time understanding my quirk and what not...damn metal detector...the jetlag got me but I’m doing alright...been meaning to do some sight seeing of the place..maybe a few places that sell sweets and what not..heard the place has a bunch of goodies that are not available anywhere else.”she'd answer as a thought bubble came up in her head. Picturing various snacks she had heard about online and her usual strings of boredom as she quietly wanted to taste them all. "Well theres a few other people I want to meet up with as well if I can...theres a laundry list of things to do while we are here but hmm", she think to herself.
Meeting up with Slinkee was on the list but she doesn't even know where to find her. Maybe checking out the training area of the academy be a nice change of pace from the training areas back at UA. A dozen shops were on her mind and she does want to send over a few gifts for her sister and little brother back at home. There's also the issue with the Chinese academy and what information they have for her in terms of who Feng Tao was. Which brings her back to the nervousness of being overseas since they can strike at any time and a bunch of the quirkers from that academy are quite strong. Possibly want to take a few of them on in hopes to further her strengths but a lot of it is up in the air as she can only do so many things at a time.
But she immediately coming back into the conversation as Sonya remarked about the gadgets and the fact that Yumi was wearing one. Her eyes would dart as she stared at the necklace and then looked to Red and then back to her. Maybe? Noooooo not possibly. Could be overthinking things and they did say before they're weren't a thing. But maybe? Maybe she was just seeing things, she will set that line of thoughts for another time for when she gets back. She quickly shrugged it off as she stared at him blankly as she desperately tried to answer.
“Is that so? Hmmmmmmmmm”
She stare as she was figuring out a way to try and move the topic along. Maybe ask about what they plan to do and possible go around as a group. But then again she doesn't want to be the third wheel of the group as she'd be only making things more awkward for herself. Should she go off and leave them to their devices? No that'd be too hasty and she kinda wants to get to know her parents a bit more than just a light conversation. They are a lot more reasonable than her folks by a country mile that's for sure.
"I'm a but stumped on where to go....so places to visit but so little time."
