Listening to Yumi while snacking did wonders for her as she would take each word into consideration. Each word lingering in her mind as she would eat her shu-mai. Mutation levels were something she never considered. Putting a lot of her training in hindsight, the idea that she would be able to produce fire from her own body is something that wouldn't have come on its own. But she can’t compare herself to her targets, she needs to set her goals higher for the sake of motivation and seeing criminals as competitors. There must be a bunch of them out in the world, but she can’t ever see them as opponents. Villains are criminals who went against the law and thus have to be captured and fought for the sake of everyone's safety. However-”I can’t bring myself to compare myself to the criminals we fight every time...it brings hesitation if I start to sympathize with them… I know we have the twins' case and their circumstances...but I want to be ready for when I meet someone even stronger. Comparing myself with the pros serves as a goal post and it keeps me moving...one of them is you...others are Redhorn and Yellow Jacket...I just wanna prove that I can do it, y’know?”, saying with a calmer tone as she put her own thoughts in the broadest term. She wants to get stronger to prove that she can be for everyone like her.
But then Yumi continued on to make one of the weirder analogies she has heard in a while. She would chuckle a bit before responding in turn to that little remark she made after. “You haven’t met my twin brother then, he makes some real bad ones..I'll tell ya about it at a different time...”, she shifted in her seat as she fell over a bit before catching herself. It was then Yumi offered her lap as a pillow and considering what happened at the dorms previously, she can’t exactly decline due to her legs having the feeling of noodles made of jelly. She is someone she could trust with a dozen things, so her whole-hearted reply with a, “I’ll take you up on that offer...I’ll make sure next time that I’ll do the same back..”
Laying her head on her lap was one of most nerve wracking things in her recent memory. Not because of anything huge like embarrassment, it was the fact that her lap is quite comfy and found herself enjoying it more than she should.
“...Soft”, is the word that came to mind as she slowly nodded off.

“Heh, that’s not-…” Yumi lingered, rubbing the back of her neck. She’d more been meaning to just compare themselves in terms of combat readiness but it seemed like Feng was a little set on finding a negative to her world view in this current moment, and Yumi didn’t wanna force down a more positive view into her throat. “Nevermind. Not saying you have to sympathize by comparing yourself but… yeah. I can also get the idea of wanting to be ready for anyone who’s stronger than you, I mean you’re up against that now right? Luck of the draw meant I got a stronger quirk. Criminals might have that too. You just gotta make sure your training is enough to compensate…”
She leaned over and gently nudged her shoulder. “Just gotta remember I’ve got training too, so there’s always gonna be that gap… you just can’t kick yourself for not getting lucky right?” She tried to offer a weak smile, not sure if she was doing a good job here making her point but… she just didn’t want Feng feeling down cause she didn’t win the quirk lottery. She still had a pretty good one for combat all things considered.
Still, it seemed they’d be ending on a pretty pleasant note, Yumi chuckling a little behind her smile as Feng took up the offer of her lap and offered her own should this ever come up again in the future. Yeah. Yumi definitely wouldn’t mind that. She had no idea what could make her so tired but… it definitely sounded like a pleasant time all things considered. When Feng layed down her head, Yumi didn’t spoil her comfort by saying anything, just letting her down into her lap and slowly stroking her hair, just letting her close her eyes and give into relaxing while she recovered from their training, just idly thinking she could be kinda cute when she let her guard down…
By the time Feng began to stir again, Yumi had started to drift a little herself, leaning back against the wall behind the bench they were using and just closing her eyes, a hand idly resting in Feng’s hair as Yumi was about to pass out herself. She wasn’t tired herself really… there was just only so much a person could do to keep themselves busy when you had a dead weight laying in your lap, so if Feng stirred enough Yumi would be quirk enough to wake up herself.

As Feng began to nod off on Yumi's lap, images of home started to appear in her dream. The street she lived on in the states, her room, her family, her friends, her old schools, it was all passing by. There was an almost nostalgic feeling when looking at it all in the grand scheme as it slowly shifted to the present. The roads she became familiar with, the various shops that she visited, UA in its grandeur, it was all surreal when every single place was empty. All alone in the dream and the only footsteps that echoed was her own. But as she walked in the lucid dream, she’d notice that her footsteps were not the only one. She ignored it and kept walking down the road, she'd see a figure down the road ahead of her. It was the girl who tried to take her life, the Tao.
Each step the Tao took made a painful sound to the ears, a mix of nails on a chalkboard and styrofoam rubbing together. Her ears started to bleed as she took a fighting stance, but the shadows on the ground began to distort and become more of her. She took the chance to run away and kept running as fast as she could. But the ground began to shatter underneath her feet and each shadow began to creep up on her as she kept trying to run. No matter how fast she ran, they were always behind her. Every road, every building, every jump, they followed her relentlessly. She would try and hit them from a distance, but only more shadows came from the horde. The army grew more and more until it was a swarm of figures. It almost looked like a horde of locusts the moment they all jumped after her.
One figure grabbed her and then another, until she found herself drowning in the shadows. She couldn't breathe, move or fight it. It was all that she could see and the fear of death remained as it slowly ate the light. As darkness was all that she saw, her eyes would dart open as she was napping on Yumi's lap. The look on her face was that of worry, fear and uncertainty as she doesnt know why she had that dream now of all times. She takes the chance to stare at the ceiling and just catch her breath from the nightmare.

The shifting of Feng in her lap as she snapped awake was enough to keep Yumi from drifting off entirely herself, blinking awake and rubbing her eyes for a moment as she tried to take in her surroundings once again. She hadn’t fully slipped off into a dream but she was in that state where her eyes were begging her to be closed again as they ached in her skull, finally looking down to Feng, her vision a little blurry since her goggles were off to the side right now.
“Heeyyy… good nap?” She’d ask laxly, reaching for her goggles and hoisting them back over her head so she could see anything. It was only when she did this she could fully take in the worried look on Feng’s face, blinking some more to make sure she was definitely seeing right before gently running a hand across Feng’s forehead, brushing some hair aside to better look at her and generally going for a soothing motion to hopefully relax the rather tense looking heroine. “Heyyy… you okay? Look like you’ve seen a ghost or something.” She’d laugh a little nervously, worried Feng had been panicing about something while Yumi herself had been about to drift off.

Feng paused for a moment before blinking twice to snap herself out of her daze. “Y-Yeah...just a weird dream...just a swarm and stuff..nothing too big...”, quickly ensuring Yumi that nothing was wrong. She can’t exactly tell her all the details, matters of her family stay that way for the sake of not dragging anyone else into it. If they can send someone after her, then her friends are just as much danger if they know what was going on.
Though...maybe if stuff goes wrong, it wouldn't hurt to tell a few just in case. Not now but maybe when the entire festival is over and she sorts some things out. Truths, battles, information about who she is, her attempt at a social life.
Feng moves a bit and a slight bit of pain goes through her legs. The work she put in was nothing to slouch at but good god has it been a while since she pushed herself this hard. But now she has found lull in the silence and she decides to take the opportunity to ask some questions on her own.
“Sooo...how's the jogging been since the last run? You improve?”, asking as she adjusted her position so she can be a bit comfy more comfy.
