"Hi hi! I'm Nanako Nanase, but you can call me Nana-chan! I'm your government-approved travel coordinator for this exciting Exhibition Festival! I hope you kids are all super duper excited!"This was the greeting the U.A. 2nd Year Students, their accompanying teachers, and other accompanying Pro Heroes, would receive at roughly 5:30 in the morning, before the airport check-in on the day of the flight. The young woman who gave such an enthusiastic and energetic greeting stood before them, eagerly ushering them on to go through the long and arduous procedure of checking in and going through security with a group of their size. There would be plenty of waiting in lines as they struggled through check in, and security would be an even greater task.
In the age of Quirks, getting past security had become a somewhat more complicated procedure. The travelers would naturally have their carry-on luggage scanned, and they would make their way through metal detectors whose relevance was questionable. Those who had a Quirk-related reason to set off those metal detectors would be accepted through after showing approval via their documentation. Those with a Quirk that might reasonable cause damage or risk during the flight without their conscious activation were required to declare as such too. All in all, it was an entirely unpleasant and annoying process.
However, they'd survive, somehow. After getting past security, it was a quick stroll through the duty-free section. Students were highly encouraged not to fall for the marketing and spend all their money. With some time left before their flight, students and Heroes were allowed to wander the international terminal for a bit. Maybe even grab some coffee or breakfast while they were there.
Eventually, it was time to board. The large group would herded towards the gate, and make their way through the final check and into the plane itself. Due to the size of their group, they'd essentially booked up an entire section of the plane. Students and teachers would be free to choose where they sat, so long as they didn't cause any trouble during the flight. This was all in Economy class, of course. However, the handful of government officials and Pro Heroes would find themselves in Business class. A much comfier ride, altogether.
This, naturally, included their guide, Nana-chan, who didn't seem at all hesitant to abandon the others to Economy.
After all the usual preparation and safety talks, their flight would take off. Everyone would be best off settling in, as it was a 12-hour non-stop flight straight to York. Most would be advised to try and get some sleep, but of course that wouldn't work for everyone. So, for those 12 hours, students would have to entertain themselves however they could. Whether it be through their own devices or the on-board entertainment, they'd have plenty at their disposal to kill time. Meals would be available on the flight too, of course, as would all other manner of drinks and snacks.
It would be a smoothly and relatively uneventful flight.
After those long 12 hours, they'd land in York, touching down to the host city of the Exhibition Festival at 9:00AM GMT. From there, it was another arduous procedure getting through customs, before they finally were through to the United Kingdom. For some, it would be quite a sight, this new and foreign land. For others, it wasn't anything new at all.
For their first day, there wasn't really anything planned. Students were to be given the time to get through their jet lag, so they could give a good performance in the festival itself. First, however, they'd need to get to their accommodation. A pair of buses would escort students and teachers to the relatively comfortable hostel they'd be staying in. Rooms of up to three people were allowed, not coed of course. Teachers were given similar arrangements, though without the restriction on gender. It was a nice enough place, with plenty of space for students to hang out between plans, and a sizeable eating area where lunch, dinner and breakfast would be provided.
Pro Heroes and government personnel would be in nicer accommodation, however, thanks to a local hotel. This did not include the guide, Nana-chan, who just got her very own room in the hostel.
Once everyone was in their proper place, they were given the chance to relax, unpack, and prepare for the days ahead. Now in the wide United Kingdom, these students would have time to themselves before the main event, time to practice and explore this brave new land, now that their journey to it had come to a close!
Hey all! This is an open thread that anyone can use to write up any scenes or events or introspection your character is having on the way to the UK. It will basically just be a one-post each deal, to basically 'introduce' the event for your character. Other than that, there's no real restrictions, so have fun!

Post by Yumi Tasukai on Feb 17, 2020 16:16:42 GMT -4
Yumi had been excited to fly to britain for this exhibition festival the other school was throwing, excitement swelling in her chest and a tight hold on the strap of the bag she'd be taking on as hand luggage. She'd made sure to stick close to her group from the moment they got off the bus and walked intot he airport, not wanting to get lost or seperated from anyone and even helping guide some of her own class here or there as president, though it mostly wasn't needed, she was just holding a big bundle of excitement in her chest...
One that somewhat vaporized as they got to the security check. Now, as a school of high powered quirk users, pretty much everyone in this school was a bomb as far as security could be concerned... but Yumi? Oof. She was a fucking case and a half to be dealt with. With how her quirk had been progressing she could kamikaze the entire plane out of the air and fly to shore. And heck even if she couldn't do the first half succesfully her quirk was likely to EMP blast the whole fucking thing in the effort of doing it anyway. She had to provide forms showing she was trained, that her emotional issues that used to set her quirk off were majorly in check. Even then she needed one of the teachers accompanying them to vouch for her. Fucking hell no wonder her parents never tried to take her on holiday... she wondered if any of the other students would be getting such rough treatment. Kirk probably flew through. Feng with her fire legs maybe got a brief bit of time... Red with his wind quirk she could see getting some cautious questions before moving him along....
By the time Yumi was out of there she was sure she musta aged a year in the face. Nothing a good nights sleep wouldn't fix but damn it was still frustrating to say the least.
Getting on the plane itself wasn't too bad. From storing her cosplays Yumi's suitcase was packed tight and she knew the weight limits so she'd paid extra to make sure her package could still fly despite weighing far more than anyone might expect it to due to how densely she was trained to pack her stuff from having to fill every nook and cranny of her clothes space with cosplay after cosplay, always feeling bad about the idea of getting rid of any of them.
Her hand luggage itself was checked, no liquids, no issues there, just a snugly blanket she'd packed in a vacuum bag so it would take up as little space possible, phone, headphones, neck pillow, the works for a good sleep in the plane. She was never one to just stare out the window so odds were she'd just fall asleep without any of her hobbies to keep herself busy in the end. There was a brief bit of bussle on the plane itself but soon enough everyone had their seets, Red with a seet against the window so his wind aura was bother as few people as possible and Yumi up next to him. This is where the blanket came in handy, unraveling the fluffy fabric and tucking it in tight around herself, shooting Red a warm smile as her fringe bristled against the unnatural breeze his quirk was creating around him.
Before long, she had her headphones on, eye mask, neck pillow... and while she didn't go out for the entire journey, she had one hell of a nap that may or may not have involved drooling against Red's shoulder. But she'd make up for it by spending the other half of the flight listening to him either talk about England or heck any other shit they wanted to talk.~

Its half 5 in the morning, do i look excited to you? Red mentally replied to the government lady who was causing his eyes to twitch a little in annoyance. He looked even more tired and worn out than usual, thanks to his situation of not being able to sleep due to a combination of anxiety and dread, and not WANTING To go to sleep due to uhh.....certain things that he didnt wanna talk about. He'd been sleeping worse ever since he found out that he'd be technically going home for the fest this year....and he really didnt know how to feel about that. He;d always figured that he'd go back with the entire family but uhhh....it was looking like it was just gonna be him. Ya know, thats to their untimly de---indefinete business trip and universty exams, yeah, that was it, nothing else at all.
While everyone else was probably excitedly making their way into the airport, talking about what britain was gonna be like or helping people along, Red was doing his best to keep himself calm. See, the guy liked planes. He liked talking about planes, like old props or older generation jets. He was really interested in how they worked. He did not like flying on planes. He'd only done it once on the flight over to Japan years ago, but the whole experience had been terrifying for him so he hoped he'd never have to get on one again. Kinda ironic for a guy who loved flying but he had his reasons.
The first reason was simple: Security was a BITCH To get through. The first time he'd been pretty much interrogated by a bunch of security dudes cause he was flying with a quirk, and since he'd only gotten it a week ago in some...rather unfortunate circumstances, it was just a tad bloody terrifying. He wasnt scared of that now, but he wasnt exactly happy about it either.
Especially considering that he had all of his tech on his person. Usually you'd think that you'd take things like that off and stick em in your luggage, but Red found the idea of going onto a flight without his skates or goggles on for 12 hours as absolutely out of the question. So, it took him one hell of a long time to argue that he should be allowed to have em just incase he needed to control his quirk, and get everything signed that said "No, i will not blow up the plane on purpose" and stuff like that.
But, eventually, everyone would get through the hell that was airport security. It felt like he'd spent a bloody year or two in there, but he'd somehow survived it. They still had some time before they boarded though, so Red'd spend the time wandering the place trying to find something to eat for once.....or just a drink so he could wake up a little bit. He didnt wanna pass out on the plane.
Unfortunatly, no matter how much he tried to distract himself, he'd not be able to shake off the lingering flight anxiety that he was feeling, so when it came time to board, he had to take a deep breath and prepare himself for take off. This was the second reason he hated flying: He hated take off. He'd had to stick all of his tools in his bag so doing that to pass the time on the flight was out, so he'd be stuck watching movies or playing on his consoles or something. This was gonna be a really long flight for him.
Thanks to how the school had booked the flight he managed to get a window seat atleast, so he could actually see things. Plus, he had Yumi sitting next to him, which put him at ease just a little bit, since he wasnt bothering anyone else around with his stupid wind aura for 12 hours. She'd come prepared for that anyway, with the sleep stuff she'd brought with her. That ease would immediatly evaporate when they started taxiing, Reds leg starting to anxiously tap against the floor. Hell, he practically squeezed her bloody hand on take off, thats how bad it bloody was for him.
Once they were actually in the air and had stopped turning, He'd apologise for that and calm down a little, settling himself in for the rest of the flight. While Yumi was asleep he'd try his best to just occupy himself by watching stuff on the screen infront of him or playing games, anything to occupy his brain. He may also have snapped a picture of Yumi drooling on his shoulder cause A) it was adorable and B) He could pull it out to tease her with whenever she got a bit too happy teasing him. After all, as far as he was aware, she didnt have a picture of him doing the exact same thing when they first met.
At some point he'd end up looking out the window, at the expansive scenery that they were flying over. It might have been mostly clouds, but he could catch glimpses of the various countries they'd fly over and marvel at them all. He might have hated flying but he couldnt hate this part of it. Soon, he'd be back in his home country, able to relive his childhood a bit and show people around the places he remembered.....if only his family coulda come with him....
"Yo"
Reds eyes'd fly open. He didnt remember falling asleep but he must have passed out in his seat or something......man....that nightmare felt...realer than usual. Almost like he'd actually seen a...weird, bizarro version of himself in the window....with red eyes. Luckily Yumi was awake now, so he could tell her everything he remembered about England and his visits to York with his dad way back when to distract himself from.....that.
Man......why the hell do i have a headache now? Is it cause of the flight or cause im sleep deprived or something? Its fuckin weird.

The flight was somewhat nerve wracking considering the last time she flew was going to Japan. She had all intentions to go but with various happenings in her life, she was hesitant to say the least. She didn't know how to feel at this point as she was flying to an entirely different country for a festival which is something she wasn't expecting. She assumed it was going to be back home like usual but NOPE, we are going to England.
Her anxiety wasn't helped by the fact that the check in that she thought would be alright would turn into a full blown inspection with her quirk and all. It was emotionally draining to say the least as she rushed for the plane. Her seat was rather comfy and was near the aisle. So she didn't have to ask to go to the restroom at any point during the flight. But it was a long and difficult flight all the same considering the year she had so far. She had all the time in the world reflect and contemplate as she would listen to her music and just stew in her own thoughts. Hours became long and arduous as she would start to overthink various aspects of it as it would drag on. Only dotted by times of her using the bathroom and whatnot.
Thoughts about home start to pop up as she questioned many things about it. Was it all real? Was it all staged? Did they plan for it? What was their goal? Was it all intended? It was all confusing and angering all the same if the reality of her childhood was all a lie. To be raised and groomed to be a killer from the moment adversity arises is something she shudders to think of what they did to her siblings and how they treated them. The incident with the Tao is the most stand out event as of late considering the aftermath of it. She matched her in speed and skill as she would use quirk more efficiently than her by a mile or two.
Though her tactics were as simple as a child's but then she could say the same for her approaches for battle. Still she cannot help but feel the weight behind her hits as she spoke with such bile and hatred of her existence. She shared many traits with her and even shared the same name as her own. Much of her existence and what her family remains a mystery to her despite what her aunt said.It came to pass in the near future considering the supposed connections she has with the chinese quirk academy.
The family secrets still bother her. What did her grandfather do? What was his betrayal that earned him so much ire? There's so many questions that need answering and yet she is only one girl. She must deal with this on her own, there would be too many risks if she were involved with her friends in her family drama. Lets just hope that it doesn't get in the way of the festival.
Much of her future remains uncertain as she doesnt know what she will do after the UA. But for now, she will focus on the task at hand and do her best to represent her school at the festival.

Post by Mozuku Momoko on Feb 20, 2020 1:07:17 GMT -4
Momoko was feeling much more giddy about the 2nd Year Festival. Last year she had been completely swamped in trying to prepare her equipment and her stand for the science fair... only one of which she was able to accomplish in time, and even then it had been a bit of a wash. But she had put the work in this year, and now she had been prepared whole days before the day of the flight. The final adjustments to her pressure bracelets as well as the new mask, fitted with an audio system that she had been testing, had turned out well. She wasn't particularly stressed out by traveling to another country itself... even if it did present some complications. The only part that did mess with the small girl was the text message that she had gotten in the early morning, as they were still traveling to the airport. It was from her mother, the first one in a long while. "Stay safe."
***
"You may now remove your seatbelt."
The announcement rang in the plane once a proper altitude was reached. All the while others were loosening their seatbelts, the bag that was situated in Momoko's seat was opened from the inside. It was annoying, but this was the easiest way for any kind of seatbelt to still be able to serve their function on someone like her. Discussing it was the main reason why she had been approached by the airport staff both times she had traveled with an airplane, but because of those previous times explaining this hotfix that had been reached earlier had gone more smoothly this time.
"Maybe once I become a famous hero..." Then again, maybe not. Even if she was the most well-known hero in the world, there was no way that every airplane or public transport would have seating arrangements for someone like her. It was more likely that it'd be forced as a regulation if there started to be enough unusually sized people due to their quirks like her, but that might not happen during Momoko's own lifetime. Or a private transport, but that would be...
"..." Momoko took a quick dive into her bag to fetch her phone, and opened a drawing application to sketch. "A small airplane could work, but you could optimize such a small vehicle better. A missile with a cockpit would certainly be fast, but there'd be no maneuverability..." She'd be at it for some time before she'd be fall asleep, only to be woken up later by the airplane dinner being served. She only managed to eat one third of what was being served, a fact that she apologized about to the flight attendant, after which she returned to her doodling and had another nap. She didn't get the anxiety about the whole trip until after they had landed. But despite of that nervousness and what was about to come, Momoko was certain that this'd be her big break.
